Pens' Perron Continues To Excel

News: David Perron notched a goal, a power-play assist and attempted five shots in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: Predictably, life has been much better for David Perron since leaving Edmonton. He's tallied four goals and two assists over his last three games, putting him at more than a point-per-game pace during his time in Pittsburgh. He's worth a roster spot in just about any format.

Pens' Perron Continues Pointing Friday

News: Playing on the Pens' top unit, David Perron potted his first power-play goal of the season Friday against the Isles.
Analysis: The winger has four goals and five points in five games with Pittsburgh. David Perron's also taken 24 shots in those five contests after totaling 74 shots in 38 games with Edmonton. He's fit well with Sidney Crosby both at even strength and on the power play.

Pens' Perron Explodes For Three Points

News: David Perron scored two goals and added an assist in Tuesday's 7-2 dismantling of the Wild.
Analysis: He'd been held off the scoresheet in consecutive games after scoring in his Penguins debut, but David Perron fired five shots on goal in each of those contests, offering promise that he made good on Tuesday. Over four games with Pittsburgh, he now owns four points and 20 shots on goal. Don't leave him out on your wire.

Pens' Perron To Play Saturday

News: David Perron will play Saturday against the Canadiens, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: The Penguins will begin to find out exactly what they sacrificed a 2015 first-round draft pick for when David Perron joins Sidney Crosby on the Penguins' first line Saturday as Pittsburgh takes on Montreal. Perron has tallied 19 points through 38 games this season with the dreadful Oilers, but will likely enjoy an uptick in production now that he's playing with the likes of Crosby.

Perron Scores Saturday in Pens' Debut

News: David Perron scored a goal in his debut with Pittsburgh on Saturday against the Canadians.
Analysis: He skated left wing on a line with Sidney Crosby and Steve Downie, registering a team-high six shots on goal while dishing out four hits. David Perron enjoyed his first set-up from Crosby. "That was probably the best pass I've ever received," Perron told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Over two sticks. I had a good portion of the net to put it in."

Debut To Come Saturday For Pens' Perron

News: David Perron won't be available for the Penguins' game Friday against the Lightning, but is expected to play Saturday versus the Canadiens.
Analysis: Acquired by the Penguins in a trade with the Oilers earlier in the day, David Perron won't arrive in Pittsburgh until late in the evening Friday. He'll likely meet with the coaching staff Saturday morning before it's decided where he'll fit in with his new squad, but a role on either the top line next to Sidney Crosby or the second line next to Evgeni Malkin seems to be in the offing.

Pens Acquire Perron From Oilers

News: David Perron was traded to the Penguins on Friday in exchange for Rob Klinkhammer and a 2015 first-round draft choice, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
Analysis: For the second straight season, a long-term injury to Pascal Dupuis (blood clots) created a void on the club's top line next to Sidney Crosby, and it looks like David Perron could potentially be tasked with filling that void. Perron has shown a nose for the net in the past, but had failed to deliver much production on a lowly Oilers squad this season, scoring just five goals and registering 19 points over 38 games. It's safe to say that his fantasy value will be on the rise with the move to Pittsburgh, where he'll be set up by superior playmakers and won't be susceptible to significant losses in plus/minus. He'll join the Penguins in Pittsburgh, but it's unclear at the moment if he'll be available for Friday's game against the Lightning.

Oilers' Perron Picks Up Two Helpers

News: David Perron notched two assists in Wednesday's loss to the Flyers.
Analysis: David Perron finished the night with a neutral plus/minus, which qualifies as a positive given that he entered the night with a minus-17 rating. He's gone without a goal in 10 straight games and has tallied 19 points in 38 contests, putting him behind the eight ball in trying to match last season's total of 57 points. Considering the negative ratings he'll tend to take most nights on the league's worst team, it's tough to justify owning Perron in shallower or mid-sized formats.

Oilers' Perron Back On Scoresheet

News: David Perron ended a four-game offensive drought with a pair of assists in Thursday's loss to San Jose.
Analysis: It's been a streaky season for David Perron, and too many of those streaks have been the wrong kind, but perhaps Thursday's sharp performance will get him heating up again.

Oilers' Perron Pots Game-Winner Sunday

News: David Perron extended his point streak to four games Sunday, scoring the game-winning goal in a win over the Sharks.
Analysis: It was only the fourth goal of the season for David Perron, who is on pace to barely surpass the 10-goal mark. The third-liner has 14 points in 27 games this season, to go with a minus-12 rating. While this recent streak seems promising, Perron only has four shots on goal in that span and is averaging just 16:44 of ice time. If he gets bumped up into a top-six role or gets dealt to a better team, Perron's fantasy value will increase.

Oilers' Perron: Three-Game Point Streak

News: David Perron gathered an assist in Wednesday's loss to the Jets.
Analysis: David Perron has been the subject of trade rumors recently, and if there's any truth to that, he's at least helped his value over the last several days. He's riding a modest three-game point streak, but his overall body of work this season (13 points in 26 games) has made him a disappointment for both the Oilers and fantasy owners alike.

Perron Could Be On His Way Out Of Edmonton

News: David Perron could be on his way out of Edmonton, according to the Edmonton Journal.
Analysis: Rumors have been swirling all day that the Oilers are looking to trade David Perron for a center and apparently the Blue Jackets are interested in Perron for Artem Anisimov. The Oilers are having another season implosion and the once proud franchise realizes that something has to be done. They have gone through coaches and general managers in the past so perhaps now they believe a trade will get the team's attention. While they may be right, it's not like the addition of Anisimov is going to change their fortunes.

Perron Will Play On Top Line For Edmonton

News: David Perron will take the place of the injured Benoit Pouliot (foot) on the top line for Edmonton, according to the Oilers' official site.
Analysis: Pouliot is expected to miss at least a month's worth of action, so David Perron will be the beneficiary and get bumped up to play with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jordan Eberle. Perron has been a bit of a disappointment this season after being very productive last year with Edmonton. Perhaps playing with more talented linemates will ignite his season.

Oilers' Perron Finally Gets Goal

News: David Perron scored his first goal of the season in Saturday's loss to the Canucks.
Analysis: David Perron has had a rough go of things while seeing most of his time on the third line this season, compiling six points and a minus-7 rating over 11 games. He's noticed a dropoff in ice time of about three and a half minutes compared to 2013-14, but that could soon change for Perron. Taylor Hall left Saturday's game with a lower-body injury that could prove to be a long-term concern, perhaps creating an opening for Perron to slide into a top-six role.

Perron Helps Out On Two As Oilers Fall

News: David Perron assisted on two goals in a shootout loss to the Canucks on Saturday.
Analysis: David Perron is off to a good start after last season's career-high 59-point showing, as he's now picked up three helpers in Edmonton's first two games. The additions of Benoit Pouliot and Leon Draisaitl to top-six roles has pushed Perron to the third line, but with capable snipers in Teddy Purcell and Mark Arcobello playing alongside him, the demotion might not hinder his productivity that dramatically.

Oilers' Perron Good To Go For Opener

News: David Perron (ribs) is set to play in Thursday's season opener against the Flames, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
Analysis: David Perron suffered a rib injury at the tail end of the preseason, but he's been able to practice without much complications the last few days. The 26-year-old will enter the 2014-15 campaign looking to build off of the career-high 57 points he tallied a season ago.

Oilers' Perron Not Seriously Hurt

News: David Perron (ribs) should be ready to play once the regular season begins, according to the Oilers web site.
Analysis: Coach Dallas Eakins insinuated Thursday that David Perron probably would've finished the game Wednesday had this been a game that counted but since it wasn't and Perron has nothing to prove, the team decided to play it safe and remove him.

Oilers Perron' Exits With Rib Injury

News: David Perron left Wednesday's exhibition name with a rib injury, Derek Van Diest of the Edmonton Sun reports.
Analysis: David Perron suffered the injury on a big from Arizona's Matt Smaby. He was able to return briefly before leaving the game for good. Further details of his injury were not available, but expect an update on Perron's status as more details are released.

Perron To Open Camp On The Right Side For Edmonton

News: David Perron will open up training camp playing right wing, according to the Edmonton Journal.
Analysis: David Perron is slated to play on a line with Benoit Pouliot and rookie Leon Draisaitl. This line could be broken up however if Draisaitl doesn't make the team out of camp. The Oilers don't have another playmaking center on the roster so Perron's offensive numbers could take a dip this season.

Oilers' Perron Still Dealing With Hip Injury

News: David Perron still isn't fully recovered from the hip injury he suffered last season, according to the Oilers web site.
Analysis: David Perron admitted Monday that he has had to deal with the injury all summer and it has changed how he would normally prepare for a season. He hasn't been able to do as much lower body work as he would like but still expects to be ready for the start of training camp.

Hip Injury Knocks Oilers' Perron Out Worlds

News: David Perron is dealing with a hip injury and will not be able to play in the 2014 World Hockey Championship.
Analysis: Although the hip injury will keep David Perron out of the international competition, it's not believed to be serious enough of an issue to prevent him from being available for the start of training camp. The 25-year-old was one of the few bright spots during a dismal campaign for the Oilers, accumulating 28 goals and 29 assists in 78 games.

Oilers' Perron Tallies Goal In Loss

News: David Perron scored the lone Oilers goal in their loss to the Avalanche on Tuesday.
Analysis: David Perron's bank shot off the skate of Avs defenseman Nick Holden got past goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere to give the forward his team-leading 28th goal. The 25-year-old has enjoyed a productive first season in Edmonton, setting career-bests in nearly every offensive category.

Perron Gets Oilers' Lone Tally In Home Loss

News: David Perron pocketed his 23rd goal of the season in Saturday night's 2-1 loss to Calgary.
Analysis: Every time he tallies these days, he sets a new career high; his previous mark was 21 goals two seasons ago. David Perron has picked up his offense noticeably since being acquired in the offseason from St. Louis; if you drafted him expecting about 45 points from him, you're going to get a nice dividend this season.

Perron Tallies Assist In Oilers' Win

News: David Perron logged an assist for the second straight game in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Rangers.
Analysis: That's three assists in his last two games. For the season, David Perron has 22 goals and 20 assists in 54 contests.
