Pens' Perron Suffering From Rib Injury

News: David Perron indicated Sunday that he had been playing through a rib injury in the playoffs, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: David Perron may require some type of surgery in the offseason, but it doesn't sound as though it would be anything impacting his availability for the start of the 2015-16 season. The winger finished the 2014-15 campaign tallying 41 points (17 goals, 24 assists) between the Oilers and Penguins over 81 games.

Pens' Perron Moves From Crosby To Malkin

News: David Perron will play on a line with Evgeni Malkin and Chris Kunitz on Friday, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: "It will be different," David Perron said. "Geno likes to cycle a lot in the offensive zone and move around a lot. I'm excited about playing with him for the first time." Perron hasn't scored a goal in 10 games. Blake Comeau will drop to the third line.

Pens' Perron Scores In Shootout

News: David Perron went pointless with a minus-1 rating Sunday but scored a shootout goal to help give Pittsburgh a 3-2 win over the Sharks.
Analysis: Although he skated only 10 minutes and played primarily on the fourth line (due to illness), his goal in the shootout may have been his most important shot in a Penguins sweater. David Perron has struggled to light the lamp lately, collecting three goals in his last 21 contests.

Penguins' Perron Set To Play Sunday

News: David Perron (illness) is slated to play Sunday against the Sharks, Shelly Anderson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: David Perron, who missed Saturday's game against the Coyotes, was considered iffy for the contest, but he's present for warmups on Sunday and thus in line to give it a go for the Penguins, after all.

Pens' Perron (Illness) Doubtful Sunday

News: David Perron (illness) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Sharks, Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: David Perron missed Saturday's contest with an illness, and it appears Sunday could bring the same result. If that turns out to be the case, Blake Comeau could once again move into the top-six forwards.

Pens' Perron To Sit With Illness Saturday

News: David Perron will miss Saturday's game against the Coyotes with an illness, Shelly Anderson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Though the Penguins will welcome back two of their top-six forward to the lineup Saturday in Evgeni Malkin (lower body) and Patric Hornqvist (undisclosed), they'll be without the services of another in David Perron. After a hot start to his Penguins career upon being acquired from the Oilers in early January, Perron has cooled off considerably over the last few weeks. He's supplied only six points in March, with none coming in his last five games.

Perron's Well Running Dry For Pens

News: David Perron has scored just three goals in his last 19 games after beginning his time in Pittsburgh with nine scores in his first 16 contests.
Analysis: His early scoring rate was unsustainable, but the paucity of production since then has hurt the team. David Perron continues to play with Sidney Crosby at even strength, though he's seen more time on the second-unit power play than the first. With both Evgeni Malkin and Patric Hornqvist close to returning, the offense might open up a bit for Perron and the Pens.

Pens' Perron Scores In Loss

News: David Perron scored the team's lone goal in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Red Wings.
Analysis: David Perron has been on a solid scoring stretch, recording seven points in his last nine contests. The goal gives him his sixth 40-point season, and hitting the 50-point plateau is within reach for the 26-year-old.

Perron Tallies Two Points For Pens

News: David Perron scored a goal and assisted on another, finishing plus-2 in Thursday's win over Edmonton.
Analysis: David Perron's got four points over his last four contests, so he's warming up nicely after going through a bit of a struggle. He's quietly scored at a 50-plus-point pace since joining the Penguins.

Pens' Perron Hits The Pits

News: David Perron assisted on Sidney Crosby's goal Monday, giving him just five points in his last 12 games.
Analysis: He has one goal in 12 games after scoring nine times in his first 16 contests with Pittsburgh. A contributing factor to his slump is his removal from the team's top power-play unit. David Perron has just three shots in five games.

Pens' Perron Helps Out In Win

News: David Perron notched an assist and went plus-2 in Friday's win over the Ducks.
Analysis: David Perron's production has hit the skids of late, as he's been limited to four points over his last 10 games. While he endured similar dry spells during his time with the Oilers earlier this season, it's a bit surprising Perron's scoring hasn't been on the rise with both Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin playing at a high level over the last few games. Things would look even worse for Perron if he hadn't scored a power-play goal during last Sunday's win over the Blue Jackets, which has gone down as his only shot attempt in three games so far this month.

Pens' Perron Bumped Off Top Power Play

News: David Perron picked up his 19th assist Saturday, finishing with a minus-2 rating against St. Louis.
Analysis: The Pens moved David Perron from the right side of Sidney Crosby to the left, moving Chris Kunitz to Evgeni Malkin's line. Perron was not used on Pittsburgh's top power-play unit, a potential knock against his fantasy value.

Perron Helps Pens Paint Pretty Picture Friday

News: David Perron scored one goal and assisted on another Friday, finishing with a plus-3 rating in a 4-0 win over Calgary.
Analysis: David Perron also took a team-leading five shots on goal. The line of Perron, Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz played together for the second straight game and produced eight points between them. Perron now has seven goals and 10 points in 13 games for Pittsburgh.

Pens' Perron Produces Again Wednesday

News: David Perron scored his seventh goal in 13 games with Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
Analysis: He's locked down a spot next to Sidney Crosby, taking four shots per game (52 shots in 13 contest) while showing a willingness to go to the net. Fantasy owners have to thank their lucky stars following David Perron's trade from Edmonton to Pittsburgh. He's also become a staple of the Pens' No. 1 power play.

Perron Continues Providing Offense For Pens

News: David Perron rattled off a goal and an assist, though he went minus-1, in Tuesday's win over the Jets.
Analysis: David Perron's been a consistent source of offense since coming over to Pittsburgh, having provided nine points in nine games. His defensive play has not been good, but that's not necessarily a surprise after his combined minus-33 over 116 games in an Oilers sweater.

Pens' Perron Set To Play Tuesday

News: David Perron (illness) is on the ice for pregame warmups and is listed in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Jets.
Analysis: David Perron was questionable to play Tuesday after leaving Monday's practice early with a cold, but he progressed to the satisfaction of team doctors in advance of the game. Though he'll be without usual linemate Sidney Crosby as his center Tuesday, Perron will continue to find himself on the Pens' top trio, joining Chris Kunitz and Nick Spaling.

Penguins' Perron: Game-Time Decision Tuesday

News: David Perron (illness) is a game-time decision for Tuesday's game against the Jets.
Analysis: Per the report, as of Tuesday morning, David Perron was still feeling "a bit under the weather," which clouds the forward's status for Pittsburgh's evening tilt.

News: David Perron left Monday's practice early due to cold symptoms.
Analysis: That said, coach Mike Johnston anticipates that David Perron will be fine for Tuesday's game against the Jets.

Pens' Perron Continues To Excel

News: David Perron notched a goal, a power-play assist and attempted five shots in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: Predictably, life has been much better for David Perron since leaving Edmonton. He's tallied four goals and two assists over his last three games, putting him at more than a point-per-game pace during his time in Pittsburgh. He's worth a roster spot in just about any format.

Pens' Perron Continues Pointing Friday

News: Playing on the Pens' top unit, David Perron potted his first power-play goal of the season Friday against the Isles.
Analysis: The winger has four goals and five points in five games with Pittsburgh. David Perron's also taken 24 shots in those five contests after totaling 74 shots in 38 games with Edmonton. He's fit well with Sidney Crosby both at even strength and on the power play.

Pens' Perron Explodes For Three Points

News: David Perron scored two goals and added an assist in Tuesday's 7-2 dismantling of the Wild.
Analysis: He'd been held off the scoresheet in consecutive games after scoring in his Penguins debut, but David Perron fired five shots on goal in each of those contests, offering promise that he made good on Tuesday. Over four games with Pittsburgh, he now owns four points and 20 shots on goal. Don't leave him out on your wire.

Pens' Perron To Play Saturday

News: David Perron will play Saturday against the Canadiens, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: The Penguins will begin to find out exactly what they sacrificed a 2015 first-round draft pick for when David Perron joins Sidney Crosby on the Penguins' first line Saturday as Pittsburgh takes on Montreal. Perron has tallied 19 points through 38 games this season with the dreadful Oilers, but will likely enjoy an uptick in production now that he's playing with the likes of Crosby.

Perron Scores Saturday in Pens' Debut

News: David Perron scored a goal in his debut with Pittsburgh on Saturday against the Canadians.
Analysis: He skated left wing on a line with Sidney Crosby and Steve Downie, registering a team-high six shots on goal while dishing out four hits. David Perron enjoyed his first set-up from Crosby. "That was probably the best pass I've ever received," Perron told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Over two sticks. I had a good portion of the net to put it in."

Debut To Come Saturday For Pens' Perron

News: David Perron won't be available for the Penguins' game Friday against the Lightning, but is expected to play Saturday versus the Canadiens.
Analysis: Acquired by the Penguins in a trade with the Oilers earlier in the day, David Perron won't arrive in Pittsburgh until late in the evening Friday. He'll likely meet with the coaching staff Saturday morning before it's decided where he'll fit in with his new squad, but a role on either the top line next to Sidney Crosby or the second line next to Evgeni Malkin seems to be in the offing.

Pens Acquire Perron From Oilers

News: David Perron was traded to the Penguins on Friday in exchange for Rob Klinkhammer and a 2015 first-round draft choice, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
Analysis: For the second straight season, a long-term injury to Pascal Dupuis (blood clots) created a void on the club's top line next to Sidney Crosby, and it looks like David Perron could potentially be tasked with filling that void. Perron has shown a nose for the net in the past, but had failed to deliver much production on a lowly Oilers squad this season, scoring just five goals and registering 19 points over 38 games. It's safe to say that his fantasy value will be on the rise with the move to Pittsburgh, where he'll be set up by superior playmakers and won't be susceptible to significant losses in plus/minus. He'll join the Penguins in Pittsburgh, but it's unclear at the moment if he'll be available for Friday's game against the Lightning.
