News:Jonathan Quick was on his game Saturday, stopping 38 San Jose shots, but his teammates couldn't generate enough offense to close the deal as the Sharks escaped with a 2-1 overtime win.
Analysis: He's displaying the same form in this postseason that propelled the Kings to the 2012 Stanley Cup. We have no hesitation about commending him to you whenever LA takes the ice.
News:Jonathan Quick stopped all 35 shots put on him by the Sharks on Tuesday for a 2-0 win in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

News:Jonathan Quick turned away 21 of 22 shots on Friday in the Kings' 2-1 win over St. Louis, which saw them advance to the second round.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick committed a few uncharacteristic gaffes at the beginning of the series, costing the Kings the first two games, but he and his teammates won the next four and will advance to the second round. Quick made several outstanding saves throughout Friday's contest and got some help from the post late in the third period. He and the Kings appear to have found their game from last Spring, a style of play that allowed them to win the Cup. Los Angeles will face either San Jose or Chicago in the second round.
News:Jonathan Quick is in goal for Friday's Game 6 against the Blues, thefourthperiod.com reports.
Analysis: As anticipated, Jonathan Quick will be on the ice as the Kings look to clinch the first-round series. He saved 34 of 36 shots in Wednesday's win over the Blues.
News:Jonathan Quick stopped 34 shots in the Kings' Game 5 win against the Blues on Wednesday.

News:Jonathan Quick is in goal for the Kings for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Blues, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: As expected, the Kings won't worry about resting Jonathan Quick with the series still hanging in the balance. He'll oppose the Blues' Brian Elliott.
News:Jonathan Quick only made 19 saves on 22 shots, but got the win in Monday's Game 4 against the Blues.
Analysis: This is Jonathan Quick's worst performance of the postseason, but the Kings still managed to tie the series after falling behind two games to none.
News:Jonathan Quick shook off an undisclosed pregame injury Saturday and a mid-game collision that knocked his mask off, backstopping the Kings to a vital win in Game 3 of the opening-round series against St. Louis. He turned aside 30 shots for a 1-0 victory that narrowed the Blues' series lead to 2-1.
Analysis: Anyone who watched the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs can attest that Jonathan Quick is capable of dominant nights like this. In this series, he's allowed four goals in three games, so maybe he's recaptured last season's mojo.
News:Jonathan Quick (undisclosed) is still starting Thursday's Game 2 against the Blues, Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick had a brief injury scare during pregame warmups, but it won't prevent him from starting. There is probably no need for fantasy owners to worry unless Quick has to leave the game at some point.
Kings' Quick Potentially Injured In Pregame Warmups
News:Jonathan Quick appeared to be injured during pregame warmups Thursday, but is still listed as the starting goalie for Game 2.
Analysis: Official word should come soon, but right now it sounds like Jonathan Quick may be in some danger of sitting at the last second. The nature of his injury is unknown.
News:Jonathan Quick made 40 saves but had a costly turnover on the game-winning goal in a 2-1 loss to the Blues.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick kept the Kings in the game as the Blues dominated the play for much of the night but will need to shake off his costly turnover in Game 2.
News:Jonathan Quick is starting between the pipes Tuesday against the Blues, Helene Elliott of the LA Times reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick got the start on the heels of a season in which he went 18-13-4 with a 2.45 GAA and .902 save percentage. He was brilliant in two starts against the Blues during the regular season, giving up just three goals over 99 minutes of ice time.
News:Jonathan Quick closed the regular season by turning aside 23 shots Saturday as the Kings earned the West's No. 5 playoff seed with a 3-2 win over San Jose.
Analysis: He proved last year that a hot goalie can carry even a No. 8 seed all the way to the Stanley Cup. Statistically, this was arguably the worst full season of his career (18-13-4, 2.45, .902), though that's obviously erased when they drop the puck in Game 1.
News:Jonathan Quick was first off the ice at Saturday's morning skate, making him the likely starter against San Jose, NHL.com's Curtiz Zupke reports.
Analysis: The Kings are still playing for seeding, so it is no surprise that Jonathan Quick will get the nod in the season finale. Though he gave up three goals in each of his last two games, Quick has a solid .917 save percentage since the beginning of April.
News:Jonathan Quick allowed three goals on 36 shots in a 3-1 loss to the Red Wings on Wednesday.
Analysis: The Kings gave Jonathan Quick a 1-0 lead early in the second period, but three straight tallies from Detroit stuck last year's Conn Smythe Trophy winner with his 13th loss of the year.
News: As expected, Jonathan Quick will be in goal for the Kings on Wednesday, MLive.com reports.
Analysis: He'll be facing off against a Red Wings squad that's fighting for its playoff lives. Jonathan Quick received a day off Tuesday against the Wild, so plan on him being in the lineup for the Kings' season finale Saturday against the Sharks.
News:Jonathan Quick is expected to start Wednesday's game against the Red Wings, the LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: This makes sense, considering Wednesday will be the second of back-to-back games for the Kings, and Jonathan Bernier got the start against the Wild on Tuesday. Jonathan Quick is 4-0-1 in his last five starts.
News:Jonathan Quick made 24 saves on 27 shots in an overtime win against the Stars on Sunday.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick only has a .901 save percentage this season, but he's been playing quite well recently and he has a very good team in front of him.
News:Jonathan Quick is in line to start Sunday's game against the Stars, L.A. Kings Insider Jon Rosen reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick -- who has allowed two goals or less in his last four starts -- last gave way to Jonathan Bernier on April 7, with Sunday's expected start marking his sixth consecutive turn in net for the Kings.
News:Jonathan Quick made 19 saves on 20 shots to lead the Kings past Anaheim on Saturday, 2-1.
Analysis: The mark of a great goalie is that he can get you a win even when the offense takes a nap. If you drafted Jonathan Quick based on last year's stellar campaign, we know you're disappointed with what you've seen. But if you own him now, keep him active as the regular season winds down.
News:Jonathan Quick was first off the ice following the team's morning skate, NHL.com's Curtis Zupke reports, an indication he will start Saturday's game against the Ducks.
Analysis: With a record of 14-12-3, Jonathan Quick is barely staying above the .500 level this season. Furthermore, his GAA and save percentage (2.55, .897) pale in comparison to the numbers he put up last year (1.95, .929). With only a half dozen games left on the schedule, all fantasy owners can do is hope he finishes the season on a strong note and look ahead to next year.
News:Jonathan Quick is in line to start Thursday's game against the Avs, L.A. Kings Insider Jon Rosen reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick, who allowed five goals on 31 shots in a 5-1 loss to Dallas on Tuesday, is on track to get a chance to rebound Thursday against a Colorado squad that has a league-low 31 points.
News:Jonathan Quick allowed five goals on 31 shots in a 5-1 loss to Dallas on Tuesday.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick hasn't been playing well lately, but Tuesday's lackluster line was hardly his fault, as the Kings shot themselves in the foot in a four-goal third period. That's of little consolation for Quick owners, who have seen him struggle for much of the season.
News: Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times expects Jonathan Quick to start Tuesday's game against the Stars.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick -- who is 13-11-3 to date -- is in line to return to the Kings' net Tuesday after giving way to Jonathan Bernier in Sunday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Ducks.
News:Jonathan Quick stopped 24 shots in a 4-1 win over Edmonton on Saturday.
Analysis: While Jonathan Bernier will occasionally spell him, the Kings' No. 1 netminder continues to take on the bulk of the playing time in Los Angeles. The win improved his career record against the Oilers to 9-1-4.
News:Jonathan Quick is expected to start in goal Saturday, the Los Angeles Times reports.

News:Jonathan Quick stopped 28 of the 31 shots he faced the Coyotes on Tuesday night, picking up the loss.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick played reasonably well, but fell short in comparison to his opposite number Jason LaBarbera.
News:Jonathan Quick is in line to start Tuesday's game against the Coyotes, Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: It will be start No. 27 for Jonathan Quick, who gave way to Jonathan Bernier (nine starts to date) in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Stars.
News:Jonathan Quick allowed three goals on 28 shots (.893) Saturday as the Kings fell at Minnesota in a shootout, 4-3. The Wild scored on all three shootout attempts. The loss snaps a two-game win streak for him.
Analysis: If you drafted him after last year's sparkling run to the Stanley Cup, you're probably growing weary of waiting for a prolonged hot streak from him. He stands 12-10-3, but you can't blame the Kings' offense, which is seventh in the NHL in goal scoring.
News:Jonathan Quick is expected to start Saturday at Minnesota, L.A. Kings Insider Jon Rosen reports.
Analysis: With two wins in his previous two starts, Jonathan Quick's season record is now in positive territory at 12-10-2, but his peripheral stats remain subpar (2.51 GAA, .895 save percentage). That said, he's given up two or fewer goals in four of his last five starts so he looks to be getting himself on the right track.
News:Jonathan Quick saved 20 of 22 shots Thursday in a win over the Blues.
Analysis: That's two wins in a row for Jonathan Quick, but with how inconsistent he's been this year, we'll need to see more than that to declare him a safe start.
News:Jonathan Quick will be in the net Thursday against the Blues, NHL.com's Louie Korac reports.
Analysis: Although Jonathan Quick came away with the win in his most recent outing against Chicago to move to 11-10-2 on the season, his .895 save percentage more properly illustrates his struggles this season. The Blues boast one of the better scoring offenses in the Western Conference, so Thursday's game against the Blues may send Quick's numbers further south.
News:Jonathan Quick made 21 saves on 25 shots in a win over the Blackhawks on Monday.
Analysis: Chicago has been prolific on offense this season, sure, but this has been all in all a rough season for Jonathan Quick. His 2.54 GAA may be decent, but he has an .895 save percentage, which this late in the season is a major concern.
News:Jonathan Quick will start in goal Monday against the Blackhawks, Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick will get the nod and look to avenge a 3-2 loss to Chicago back on Feb. 17.
News:Jonathan Quick made 12 saves Saturday in a 1-0 loss to the Canucks. It's the second-straight game where the Kings failed to record a goal with Quick in net.
Analysis: A few saves were spectacular, but unless your name is Martin Brodeur, you can't come close to winning games by yourself. Jonathan Quick only gave up one on partial break by speedster Mason Raymond, who slid the puck through the five hole.
News:Jonathan Quick was first off the ice Thursday morning, NHL.com's Curtis Zupke reports.
Analysis: As such, Jonathan Quick is in line to return to the Kings' net Thursday against the Stars after giving way to Jonathan Bernier on Tuesday.
News:Jonathan Quick gave up two goals on 21 shots in a loss to Dallas on Thursday.
Analysis: With Kari Lehtonen stopping all 40 shots that he faced at the other end, Jonathan Quick's otherwise steady performance gets chalked up on the wrong side of the ledger. With Jonathan Bernier playing well recently, it's unclear if Quick will be yielding more starts than usual to his backup in the near future.
News:Jonathan Quick posted his first shutout of the season Monday, turning aside 27 shots to stonewall the Coyotes in a 4-0 Kings win.
Analysis: He only needs nine more shutouts to equal last season's sparkling mark. Jonathan Quick hasn't been as effective this year as he was during the drive to the Stanley Cup last spring, but he'll hold on to his starting role despite backup Jonathan Bernier's excellence this season.
News:Jonathan Quick appears set to start in goal Monday, L.A. Kings Insider Jon Rosen reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick has been outplayed recently by backup Jonathan Bernier and could see some more of his playing time funnel towards Bernier if that trend continues.
News:Jonathan Quick was first off the ice at the team's morning skate, according to L.A. Kings Insider Jon Rosen, making him the likely starter against the Sharks on Thursday night.
Analysis: It looks like the Kings will give Jonathan Quick a chance to bounce back Thursday, after he let in five goals on 29 shots in Tuesday's loss to the Coyotes.
News:Jonathan Quick surrendered five goals on 29 shots in Tuesday's loss to the Coyotes.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick has won three of his last six starts, but in the other three games he's allowed four or more goals.
News:Jonathan Quick will be between the pipes for Tuesday's game against the Coyotes, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick has had an inconsistent month, but he picked up the win in both of his last two starts and gave up a total of three goals over that span. He will take on a Coyotes team that is in the middle of the pack offensively, averaging 2.70 goals per game.
News:Jonathan Quick made 23 saves on 24 shots in a win over the Flames on Monday.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick still only has an .899 save percentage on the season, but his career numbers indicate he should be able to pick that up as the year goes on.
News:Jonathan Quick will start Monday's game against the Flames.
Analysis: As expected, Jonathan Quick will be between the pipes to oppose Calgary's Joey MacDonald on Monday. Quick stopped 17 of 19 shots faced against the Flames on Saturday.
News:Jonathan Quick was the first goalie off the ice during Monday's morning skate, so he will likely start Monday night's game against the Flames, the LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick started Saturday against the Flames, allowing two goals on 19 shots in the Kings' 6-2 win. Quick will square off against the Flames' Joey MacDonald, starting in place for Miikka Kiprusoff, who took the loss when the two teams faced Saturday.
News:Jonathan Quick faced just 19 shots Saturday against Calgary, turning aside 17 (.895) to bag a 6-2 win. The victory brings his record to 8-7-2 on the campaign.
Analysis: This was a night when he didn't have to be brilliant, as the Kings' defense clamped down on the Calgary attack and the Los Angeles skaters seemingly found the net at will. Jonathan Quick is a long way off his form of last season, when he carried the Kings to the Stanley Cup, but perhaps this win will stabilize the ship somewhat.
News:Jonathan Quick was first off the ice during Saturday morning's warmups, NHL.com's Curtis Zupke reports.
Analysis: Look for Jonathan Quick to start Saturday night against the Flames.
News:Jonathan Quick appears to be in line to start Thursday's game against the Stars, NHL.com's Curtis Zupke reports.
Analysis: That's based on Jonathan Quick being off the ice first Thursday morning, though since he replaced Jonathan Bernier early in the second period Tuesday, it's not a surprise to see that Quick is in line to get the starting nod Thursday.
News:Jonathan Quick replaced Jonathan Bernier early in the second period Tuesday and earned a win by stopping five of six shots against the Blues.
Analysis: Bernier struggled in the first period and didn't get any better in the second, allowing Jonathan Quick to come in and steal a win when the Kings' offense exploded for four goals in the third. Quick needed this game, as Bernier was starting to cut into his playing time.
News:Jonathan Quick suffered an off night Saturday, yielding four even-strength goals in a 5-2 loss at Vancouver. He stopped 19 of the 23 shots he saw (.826).
Analysis: This won't cost him any crease time; he has plenty of position stability, despite the strong play of backup Jonathan Bernier.
News:Jonathan Quick was first off the ice at the morning skate, according to L.A. Kings Insider Jon Rosen, making him the likely starter against the Canucks on Saturday night.
Analysis: After a slow start to the season that saw him go 3-5-2, Jonathan Quick has since won three consecutive starts, stopping 70 of 74 pucks over that span. Quick is only 6-8-0 lifetime against the Canucks, but he always plays them tough, posting a 1.97 GAA and .928 save percentage against them. Bottom line, Quick appears to have rounded the corner lately and deserves to be in your fantasy lineup, regardless of his opponent.
News:Jonathan Quick will give way to backup Jonathan Bernier on Wednesday.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick has been a major part of the Kings' turnaround lately but he'll defer to Bernier on Wednesday.
News:Jonathan Quick made 24 saves on 26 shots to earn his third straight win Monday against the Ducks.
Analysis: After a slow start, Jonathan Quick is picking up his play. However, he still only has a .906 save percentage and a 2.42 GAA on this season.
News:Jonathan Quick made 23 saves Saturday in a 4-1 win over the Avalanche. It's his second straight win.
Analysis: He's rounding into form and has allowed just two goals in his last two games. He's a long way from the lofty heights of his performance last season, but he should be a strong play going forward as the Kings start their ascent to a playoff spot.
News:Jonathan Quick will get the starting nod Saturday against the Avalance.
Analysis: Though Jonathan Quick is not playing at the level he did during last season's Stanley Cup run, he's come around of late, turning in an excellent performance in his most recent start against the Oilers on Tuesday. He'll have an ample opportunity to build on that effort against an Avalanche squad that has been far from powerful offensively this season.
News:Jonathan Quick stopped 23 of 24 in a 3-1 win over Edmonton on Tuesday.
Analysis: It was the first February game in which Jonathan Quick allowed fewer than two goals, a nice step back toward respectability after the inconsistency Quick has gone through in the early part of this year. Things haven't been easy for the defending Stanley Cup champs this year, but Quick and the Kings at least have something to build on with this win.
News:Jonathan Quick will start Tuesday against the Oilers, LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick's slow start has mirrored the fortunes of the Kings this season, who at 5-6-2 are only two points ahead of Columbus for last place in the Western Conference. The Kings desperately need him to rediscover the form that made him the Conn Smythe winner in last season's Stanley Cup Finals.
News:Jonathan Quick will start Sunday's game against the Blackhawks, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: This is just final confirmation that it will be Jonathan Quick in goal for the Kings on Sunday.
News:Jonathan Quick is expected to start against the Blackhawks on Sunday, Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: Jonathan Bernier started the last two games for Los Angeles, but it looks like Jonathan Quick will be back between the pipes Sunday. The Kings are hoping the extra practice time he's received this week will help Quick break out of the slight funk he's been in.
Kings Hope Quick Benefits From Extra Practice Time
News: The Kings hope Jonathan Quick, who has served as the backup in each of the last two games, will benefit from the extra practice he's been able to get in as a result, the Los Angeles Times reports. "I think it's been good these last few days for him to have some good work. I think that clearly he's needed some really controlled practice time," head coach Darryl Sutter said. "And so I talked to him [Thursday] and told him, 'This is the only time we can get it. March is just about playing so you've got to have your game in order.'"
Analysis: Jonathan Bernier has played well in his last two games and the Kings have a stretch of three games in four nights starting Sunday. Thus, Bernier figures to see some action during that stretch but the bulk of the goaltending duties figure to fall to Jonathan Quick unless he struggles when re-inserted between the pipes. Don't panic just yet.
News:Jonathan Quick, who will serve as the team's backup for the second straight game Friday after some recent struggles, didn't receive a ringing endorsement from head coach Darryl Sutter in a story from the Los Angeles Times. "We need a goalie to get hot. Not get patted on the back. Listen, this team rode a hot goalie last year, right? They didn't the year before. They rode a hot goalie last year. So you know what? We're in the same thing again we need one to get hot," Sutter said after Thursday's practice.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick was the Kings' best player last year but Sutter has never been afraid about holding all of his players accountable. This isn't likely to develop into a changing of the guard in goal for the Kings but Quick owners may need to get a little bit nervous if Jonathan Bernier plays well Friday night against Columbus.
News:Jonathan Quick stopped 28-of-31 shots in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Red Wings.
Analysis: After Alec Martinez tied the game at the 19:07 mark of the third period (with Jonathan Quick pulled), it looked like overtime was in the cards, but Detroit's Jonathan Ericsson scored with five seconds left to hand Quick his second straight loss and fourth in five games overall.
News:Jonathan Quick will start Sunday at Detroit, according to L.A. Kings Insider Jon Rosen.
Analysis: With a 3-3-2 record, 2.66 GAA and .889 save percentage, Jonathan Quick is still looking to get his game on track this season. If you have other reliable options in goal, it makes sense to use them until Quick gets himself sorted out.
News:Jonathan Quick stopped 18 of 20 shots Tuesday in a 4-2 win over the Jackets.
Analysis: He was rarely challenged, as the Kings appear to slowly be working their defense back into form. Jonathan Quick's numbers on the season don't look too pretty with that save rate under .900, but look for his stats to normalize as the season goes on.
News:Jonathan Quick will get the start in goal Tuesday against the Blue Jackets, FOX Sports Ohio reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick's most recent start was a disastrous one, as he gave up two goals in the first six minutes Saturday against the Ducks before getting pulled for backup Jonathan Bernier. Still, he's earned himself a long leash with the phenomenal job he did wire to wire en route to the Stanley Cup last season, so Quick should see the vast majority of the starts going forward.
News:Jonathan Quick's night ended prematurely Saturday, as the Ducks chased him from the crease with two goals on just three shots in less than six minutes. Backup Jonathan Bernier took over early in the first frame and played the rest of the way as Quick sat and fumed.
Analysis: No, this is not going to cost Jonathan Quick the starting job. His heroic efforts last season in the Stanley Cup run earned him more tolerance than that.
News:Jonathan Quick faced just 14 shots in regulation Thursday against Nashville, saving 13, but took the OT loss after a lengthy shootout.
Analysis: He saw eight shots in the shootout -- just six short of what the Preds put on goal in all 65 minutes before! Jonathan Quick's mediocre numbers belie how strong he's been this year, as they're still skewed by a rough opening night. He's put up .900-plus save percentages in five straight.
News:Jonathan Quick made 21 saves on 23 shots in a shootout win against the Canucks on Monday.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick got off to a bad start to the season, but he's picked up his play over his last three games. He's gotten the win in two of those contests, so things are on an upswing.
News:Jonathan Quick will get the start in goal Monday.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick hasn't gotten off to a great start following offseason back surgery but it looks like the Kings will let him try and work through his slump. He is coming off his best effort of the season in his last game, stopping 31 of 33 shots in a 4-2 win over Phoenix.
News:Jonathan Quick had a shutout through two frames Tuesday against the Avs, but gave up three third-period goals to take the loss. He stopped 28 of 31 overall.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick's off to a rough start this year, giving up eight goals in his first two games, both losses. As a result, the Kings may turn to Jonathan Bernier for a change of pace Thursday in Edmonton, but expect Quick to get back on the horse thereafter.
News:Jonathan Quick gave up five goals on 22 shots in the Kings' loss to the Blackhawks on Saturday.
Analysis: The Hawks managed to open up a 4-0 leading just 21:16 into Saturday's contest, while the Kings were sloppy at both ends of the ice and provided little consistency for their netminder. With a two-day layoff before their next game Tuesday, it's likely that Jonathan Quick will start again in Colorado.
News: The Kings expect Jonathan Quick (back) to carry most of the load this season despite the condensed schedule and offseason surgery, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: The Kings have a very capable backup in Jonathan Bernier but expect a heavy workload for Jonathan Quick as long as he's healthy.
News:Jonathan Quick (back) was medically cleared to play Monday, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: Barring any setbacks, he should be ready for the start of the season.
News:Jonathan Quick (back) is expected to be ready for the start of training camp, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: We'll have a better idea of Jonathan Quick's readiness for the start of the season once he's back in action at training camp but for now it sounds like the Kings plan on having him at the start of the season.
Kings' Quick (Back) Still Without Clearance To Play
News:Jonathan Quick (back) is still without clearance to play, but is close to nearing that point, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: If commissioner Gary Bettman's Jan. 19 deadline for NHL play to resume is to be believed, Jonathan Quick's availability when the season starts looks up in the air at this point. That would be of much significance if the lockout comes to an end, since the shortened season makes the health of a top goaltender on most nights very imperative.
News:Jonathan Quick will head to AHL Manchester this week to continue his rehab from back surgery, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: The Conn Smythe winner appears to be on schedule in his recovery, with the lockout providing some extra recovery time. If and when the NHL season does begin, expect Jonathan Quick to remain among the elite goaltenders.
News:Jonathan Quick's (back) recovery is "on schedule," according to a report in the Toronto Sun.
Analysis: He was originally given a recovery time of six weeks for the procedure which removed an inflammatory cyst and a disc fragment. As a locked-out player, he's allowed to be in contact with the team so they know his status. The rest will likely do him good -- he has played a lot of games in the last two seasons.
News:Jonathan Quick underwent a minor surgery to fix a disk fragment and remove an inflammatory cyst, The Sacramento Bee reports.
Analysis: The Kings announced it was not a major surgery and he will fully recover but it is expected to take about six weeks. The star goalie of the Stanley Cup champions is entering the first year of a 10-year contract extension signed in June.
News:Jonathan Quick has agreed to a 10-year contract extension with the Kings, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick can't officially sign the deal until Sunday, but once he does, he will be under contract with the Kings through the 2022-23 season. A finalist for the Vezina Trophy, Quick was stellar in the Kings' recent championship run, winning 16 of the team's 20 games, with a spiffy 1.41 goals-against average and a nifty .946 save percentage to go along with three shutouts.
News:Jonathan Quick turned aside all but one of the 18 shots he faced in Monday's Stanley Cup-clinching victory over New Jersey. Quick was given the Conn Smyth trophy as the most outstanding player throughout the postseason.
Analysis: The fact that Jonathan Quick won the Conn Smyth was probably one of the least surprising announcements ever. Quick did not have to do much in Monday's rout of a victory but quelled some early chances from New Jersey before his teammates exploded. Quick's play throughout this postseason could be categorized as superhuman, as his steadiness empowered the entire Kings' roster to a convincing Stanley Cup victory. There's little reason to think that Quick won't be dominant next season and one of the first three-to-five goalies taken in most drafts.
News:Jonathan Quick made 17 saves in Saturday's 2-1, Game 5 loss to the Devils.
Analysis: For the first time this postseason, Jonathan Quick was imperfect -- his gaffe allowed Zach Parise to net the opener and he seemed out of shape most of the night. It looks like nerves to us; hopefully they disappear before Game 6 on Monday.
News: In Saturday's Game 2 against New Jersey, Jonathan Quick had much more work to do than in Game 1; he stopped 32 shots to again outduel the Devils' Martin Brodeur. The Kings purloined their second straight overtime road win, and return to Los Angeles for Monday's Game 3 with a 2-0 series lead.
Analysis: LA's Jeff Carter received the game's first star for bagging the OT game-winner, but anyone who watched the game knew perfectly well that Jonathan Quick was the best player on the ice. Here's the goalie comparison: In the first two games of the series, Brodeur is a solid 1.69, .930. As good as those figures are, Quick's numbers bury them (0.85, .960). If he plays as well over the rest of the series, the Kings will owe him the value of one big silver cup.
News:Jonathan Quick needed to make only 16 saves Wednesday night as the Kings downed the Devils, 2-1, in overtime to take Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Analysis: Los Angeles' smothering defense made life relatively simple for the Vezina nominee and Jonathan Quick did the rest, winning his 13th game of the playoffs in 15 starts.
News:Jonathan Quick made 38 saves in a 4-3 overtime win in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals to send the Kings to the Stanley Cup Finals.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick and the Kings are an unbelievable 8-0 on the road in the playoffs and are headed to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1993.
News:Jonathan Quick stopped 18 of 19 shots Thursday against Phoenix to send the Kings to a 3-0 series lead in the Western Conference Finals.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick just continues to be one of the best goalies, if not the best goalie in the playoffs. You have to wonder how a long layoff will affect him and the rest of the Kings if they can finish off the Coyotes on Sunday; the Rangers and Devils are deadlocked 1-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals and it'd be no surprise if they went seven games.
News:Jonathan Quick notched his second shutout of the playoffs Tuesday, blanking the Coyotes with 24 saves en route to a 4-0 win in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals.
Analysis: The Kings' incredible run (10-1) continued thanks in large part to their power play and goaltender. They'll look to take a commanding 3-0 lead as the series shifts to Los Angeles.
News:Jonathan Quick turned away 23 of the 24 shots he faced Sunday as the Kings finished off their sweep of St. Louis.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick has been outstanding in these playoffs, and now the Kings have dispatched the top two seeds in the West. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Quick help carry the Kings all the way to the Cup at this point.
News:Jonathan Quick stopped 18 of 20 shots in Thursday's Game 3 victory over St. Louis, putting the Kings up 3-0 in the series.
Analysis: Sure, it wasn't an outing for the ages, but it was just another solid effort for Jonathan Quick, who has only given up more than two goals in a game once in this postseason. Perhaps not coincidentally, that was his only loss. Brian Elliott had all the buzz, but Quick -- who had a near-Vezina-caliber regular season -- has arguably been the best goalie in these playoffs, bar none.
News:Jonathan Quick made 27 saves on 29 shots in a Game 2 victory over St. Louis on Monday.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick was great in the regular season, and he has continued that in the postseason. Plus, despite being an eight seed, the Kings are two wins away from the Western Conference Finals.

News:Jonathan Quick stopped 46 of 48 shots Friday night as Los Angeles downed Vancouver 4-2 in Game 2 of the Western Conference quarterfinal series.

News:Jonathan Quick surrendered two third-period goals Saturday as the Kings coughed up a 2-0 lead, eventually falling in overtime to the Sharks, 3-2.
Analysis: The loss consigns the Kings to the unenviable position of the eighth seed in the Western Conference, and a first-round date with the Vancouver Canucks. We expect Jonathan Quick to get every playoff start for as long as his limbs are still attached to his torso.
Kings' Quick To Square Off Against Sharks Saturday
News:Jonathan Quick will start the Kings' regular season finale Saturday against the Sharks, according to L.A. Kings Inside.
Analysis: A win Saturday could mean the difference between third place and eighth place in the playoff standings for these two teams, so it's no surprise to see the Kings giving Jonathan Quick the nod for this one.
News: The Sharks piled up five goals on 31 shots against Jonathan Quick through regulation and overtime Thursday, then one more in the shootout to send the Kings to the OT loss column.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick had won three straight and eight of 10 coming into this one, but this was one of his worst games of the year. He hadn't given up five goals or more in a regular-season game since back on Feb. 28, 2011.
News:Jonathan Quick was the first keeper off the ice Thursday signaling that he will start in net for the Kings against the Sharks on Thursday, according to Curtis Zupke of NHL.com.
Analysis: It would take a minor miracle for the Kings to miss out on the playoffs, and if there is one reason they are in that position it has to be the man in net who might just be the MVP in the NHL this season.
News:Jonathan Quick stopped all 19 shots he faced Monday against Edmonton for his 10th shutout of the season.

News:Jonathan Quick needed to make only 19 saves Wednesday night to record the shutout as Los Angeles dumped Calgary 3-0.
Analysis: It was his ninth shutout of the year and broke the Kings' team record for most shutouts in a season. The previous record holder was Rogie Vachon who set the mark during the 1976-77 season. With Los Angeles in the playoff picture, Jonathan Quick should get some attention for a possible Venzina Trophy nomination. He has 33 wins, a .930 SV% and a 1.93 GAA on the year.
News:Jonathan Quick only gave up one goal on 25 shots Monday against Vancouver, but he still took the loss.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick has been excellent this season, as he is fourth in the league in both save percentage and GAA. With the Kings fighting for a playoff spot, he should be starting most, if not all, of the games down the stretch.
News:Jonathan Quick surrendered three goals on 25 shots as the Kings fell at home Saturday to the Bruins, 4-2. The final Boston tally came with an empty crease.
Analysis: Fear thee not, Jonathan Quick's fantasy owners; he's still among the top 10 league-wide in virtually all the statistical categories, and is an easy start recommendation just about any time he gets the tap.
News:Jonathan Quick saved all 35 shots he faced through regulation and OT Thursday against St. Louis, then put a stop to three of four shootout tries to take home the win.
Analysis: This was an outstanding goaltending battle, as Jonathan Quick and Brian Elliott combined to allow no goals on 72 shots through the game's fist 65 minutes. Quick has now won five in a row while allowing just eight goals in that span.
News: It appears that Jonathan Quick will start in net for the Kings Thursday against the Blues, according to Curtis Zupke of NHL.com.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick was the first keeper off the ice at the morning skate, and the first keeper into the locker room on game day is almost always the starter when the game action starts. Unfortunately, Quick has a mere 2-8-1 record against the Blues in his career.
News:Jonathan Quick will start against Detroit on Tuesday, LAKings.com reports.
Analysis: With a 2.00 GAA over 58 games and a home match against the Red Wings, who are 16-18-1 on the road, Jonathan Quick is a justifiable start Tuesday.

News:Jonathan Quick will tend the net against the Predators on Tuesday, according to Jim Fox of Sports Net.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick is 0-4-1 in his previous matchups with the Predators, so he'll be looking to get off the schneid Tuesday.
News:Jonathan Quick allowed two goals on 31 Anaheim shots as the Kings bested the Ducks on Saturday, 4-2.
Analysis: His season-long composite stats remain at a sparkling 1.92, .932. As Bum Phillips once said of Earl Campbell, "I don't know if he's in a class by himself, but whatever class he's in, it don't take long to call the roll."
News:Jonathan Quick will be between the pipes for Saturday's game against the Ducks, according to the Kings' official Twitter page.
Analysis: With a save percentage of .932 and a GAA of 1.92, Jonathan Quick remains one of the best goalies in the NHL this season, especially playing for a team as offensively challenged as the Kings (last in the league in goals scored with 138). Roll him as you normally would, but keep in mind he won't be able to steal a game on his own each and every night.
News:Jonathan Quick allowed two goals on 28 shots in Monday's loss to Nashville, his fourth loss in the last five starts.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick certainly has been a hard-luck loser this season, with a handful of losses coming with him allowing two goals or less. Quick has been the victim of a Kings' team that can't score consistently but can certainly steal a game or two, as evidenced by his seven shutouts and sub-2.00 goals-against average.
News:Jonathan Quick will face the Predators on Monday for the Kings, according to Jim Fox of FSN.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick, with even a modicum of offensive support, might have been the leader for the Vezina Trophy at this point of the season. Alas, he is just 25-17-11 despite some of the best numbers in the game (1.92 GAA, .932 save percentage).
News:Jonathan Quick stopped all 19 shots he saw Saturday as Los Angeles whipped Chicago, 4-0.

News:Jonathan Quick will be between the pipes Tuesday against the Coyotes, according to LA Kings Insider.
Analysis: The fact that Jonathan Quick has a 1.87 GAA on the season and that he also has a losing record (24-16-10) should be an embarrassment to Quick's teammates.
News: For the second straight game, Jonathan Quick lost despite surrendering a single goal. The Kings lost at home to the Flames as Quick stopped 17 of 18 shots, yielding a third-period tally to Calgary's Mike Cammalleri.
Analysis: This is getting preposterous; in his last seven games, he's 2-4-1 despite having allowed just 10 goals. Three of those losses have been 1-0. If your league weighs composite stats significantly more than wins, he's a gem; his numbers of 1.87, .934 are both third in the league. Unfortunately, the Kings are dead last in the NHL in goal scoring.
News:Jonathan Quick stopped all but one of the 21 shots he faced against Phoenix on Thursday, but that was enough to get the loss.
Analysis: This was the fourth time this season that the Kings have lost 1-0 and the seventh time overall that they've been shut out.
News:Jonathan Quick made 26 saves on 28 shots against Dallas on Sunday, picking up another win.

News:Jonathan Quick was pulled before the third period of Thursday's game against Florida after allowing two goals on 11 shots.
Analysis: That certainly seems like an itchy trigger finger by coach Darryl Sutter, pulling his Vezina candidate after the guy had given up just two goals. Jonathan Bernier stopped all 11 in relief, but Los Angeles couldn't come back. There's no word on any injury to Jonathan Quick, so this can be filed under "B" for bizarre.
News:Jonathan Quick turned away 24 of 25 shots in Tuesday's win over Tampa Bay, his second win in three starts.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick has allowed a scant four goals in his last three starts as his career season continues. Owners have come to expect efforts like Tuesday's from Quick this season and he shows little sign of slowing down.

News:Jonathan Quick turned aside 27 of the 28 shots he faced against Ottawa on Monday, earning his 21st win of the season.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick has been phenomenal in his 42 games played, as he has a .934 save percentage and a 1.93 GAA. Anytime you have a sub-2.00 GAA this late in the season, you know it has been a great year for a goalie.
News:Jonathan Quick allowed three goals on 31 shots Saturday as the Kings dropped a home contest to the Avalanche.
Analysis: This loss won't impair his position as the set-in-stone No. 1 netminder for the Kings; nor will it dim our solid recommendation of him as one of the league's elite.
News:Jonathan Quick was the first keeper off the ice Thursday so he should be in net for the Kings when they take on the Flames, according to Curtis Zupke of NHL.com.
Analysis: In eight games against the Flames in his career, Jonathan Quick has a 1.84 GAA which is only a tenth below his season long mark of 1.95.
News:Jonathan Quick was the first goalie off the at the morning skate, making him the likely starter for Tuesday's game against the Canucks, according to L.A. Kings Insider.
Analysis: What a season Jonathan Quick is having, as he currently sits third in the league in GAA (1.95) sixth in save percentage (.933) and tied for sixth in wins (19). Considering the struggles the Kings have had offensively this season, Quick's achievements thus far are nothing short of remarkable. He is arguably the sole reason the team is not well out of the playoff race at this point.
News:Jonathan Quick made 31 saves on 33 shots Sunday, but still suffered an overtime loss to Edmonton.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick may have lost, but he still has a sub-2.00 GAA and a league leading six shutouts. He's still going strong.
News:Jonathan Quick earned his pay Saturday at Calgary, stopping 29 of the 30 shots he saw to carry the Kings to a 4-1 win, his 19th of the season.

News:Jonathan Quick allowed four goals on 38 shots in Thursday's shootout loss to the Stars.
Analysis: How hot has Jonathan Quick been? Well, four goals is one more than he'd allowed in his last five starts combined. Guess we can give him a mulligan on this one.

News:Jonathan Quick stopped 17 of 18 shots Saturday against Columbus but ended up on the losing end of a 1-0 score.
Analysis: We pity the Kings' twine tenders. The team has scored a league-low 90 goals and Saturday was the 19th time in the last 21 games where they have been held to fewer than three goals in regulation. It's remarkable Jonathan Quick has such strong numbers given the lack of support.
News:Jonathan Quick stopped all 22 shots put on goal by the Coyotes on Thursday and got a goal early in overtime for a 1-0 win.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick continues to roll like an elite netminder, as he's won four of his last five and pushed his GAA under two. He's allowed only two goals in his last four starts (two shutouts).

News:Jonathan Quick only let in one goal on 21 shots Monday against Colorado, but took the loss in a shootout.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick may have lost, but he still had a really good game, and he has 17 wins on the season, so there is no reason to worry there. He remains one of the best fantasy goalies on the season so far.
News:Jonathan Quick was the first goalie off the ice, which means he's likely to be in net Monday night for the Kings, according to Curtis Zupke of NHL.com.

News:Jonathan Quick earned his pay Saturday night, turning aside 27 of 28 shots to post a 4-1 win over Vancouver.
Analysis: He's in zero danger of losing his starter's role to backup Jonathan Bernier, despite Bernier's excellent outing on Thursday. Jonathan Quick represents one of the safest bets among NHL goalies for a steady diet of starts and solid fantasy value.
News:Jonathan Quick was the first keeper off the ice Saturday signaling that he will be in net when the Kings take on the Canucks, according to Curtis Zupke of NHL.com

News:Jonathan Quick stopped 31 of 33 shots and did not allow a goal in three shootout attempts in Monday's win over Toronto.
Analysis: The Leafs missed all three shootout attempts, not forcing a save from Jonathan Quick. The Kings and their potential star netminder needed this win following a rough loss 8-2 loss to Detroit last Saturday in which Quick finished with a goals-against average of 22.50. Quick will be in net most nights for the Kings, who aim to find consistency with their game, so don't be surprised if that arrives with Darryl Sutter.

Analysis: The first two goals came within 15 seconds of each other and were written on the scoresheet by the two-minute mark. All three goals were the product of the Wings' third and fourth lines. Ugly, but he'll be fine.
Kings' Quick To Square Off Against Red Wings Saturday
News:Jonathan Quick is the expected starter for Saturday's game at Detroit, according to the Los Angeles Times' Helene Elliott.
Analysis: With a 12-9-4 record thus far, Jonathan Quick is just barely keeping his head above water in the win-loss column, even though his peripheral stats (2.09 GAA, .930 save percentage) are better at this point than they were last season. The trouble is, with just 67 goals to their credit, the Kings are the lowest-scoring team in the NHL right now, meaning Quick has needed to stand on his head most nights in order to secure a victory. Quick is still very much worth owning for fantasy purposes, but he's a more valuable commodity in leagues where secondary stats count, compared to formats that reward for goalie wins only.
News:Jonathan Quick ended a three-game losing skid Thursday by stopping 24 of 25 in a 2-1 victory over the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: After three not-so-hot games in a row, it looks like Jonathan Quick is back to the form that's made him one of the league's top goaltenders this year. Of course, this did come at the expense of the Jackets, who are not exactly a top team.
News:Jonathan Quick surrendered three goals on 19 shots in Tuesday's loss to Boston, as he now has given up 10 goals in his last three starts.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick and the Kings are going through a bit of a transition, and Tuesday's loss was a rough night for newly appointed coach John Stevens. News:Jonathan Quick will be between the pipes on Tuesday as the Kings take on the Bruins, according to L.A. Kings Insider.

News:Jonathan Quick gave up four goals on 24 shots Thursday against Minnesota, losing for the fifth time in his last seven games.
Analysis: Offensive support has been a problem for Jonathan Quick this year, but goaltending hasn't been. This was a rare stumble for a guy who's been one of the best goalies in the league.
News:Jonathan Quick allowed three goals on 24 shots in a 3-2 loss to Anaheim on Tuesday.

News:Jonathan Quick was fantastic Thursday only allowing a single goal on 42 shots.
Analysis: The Kings needed every one of those saves as they were able to win a close game, 2-1. Jonathan Quick also picked up an assist in the game on what proved to be the game winning goal, pretty good night for Jonathan.
News:Jonathan Quick will tend to the crease on Thursday for the Kings, according to LA Kings Insider.

News:Jonathan Quick lost a game he probably should have won Saturday, stopping 25 shots as the Kings fell at home to the Blackhawks, 2-1.
Analysis: The Kings' offensive challenges aside, you should continue to start him. You just don't sit a guy with his composite stats (2.12, .930); the wins will come.
News:Jonathan Quick is expected to start Saturday's game against Chicago, LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick has a so-so 9-5-4 record this season, even though his peripheral stats (2.12 GAA, .930 save percentage) are quite respectable. Part of the problem is the Kings are proving to be offensively challenged most nights, as their 54 goals scored ranks them sixth-lowest in the NHL in that category. Keep rolling Quick on a nightly basis and hope that the team in front of him finds a way to bulge the opposition's twine more often.
News:Jonathan Quick is expected to start Wednesday at Dallas, LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick's last outing was a bit of a clunker, allowing four goals during Saturday's loss to Detroit, but other than that he's been pretty solid this season as his 9-5-3 record indicates. His GAA of 2.08 and save percentage of .931 also suggests a goalie who's right at the top of his game. Continue to roll him as you normally would.

News:Jonathan Quick will start on Thursday in the battle of southern California against the Ducks, according to Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick will be making his second start in two days against the Ducks, and it's hardly a surprise given that he held the Ducks to one goal on 24 shots on Wednesday night.
News:Jonathan Quick will be between the pipes in Wednesday's game against the Ducks, according to the Kings' official Twitter page.

News:Jonathan Quick snapped a six-game losing string by posting a 5-2 win over the Wild on Saturday. He stopped 24 shots to post his seventh win of the season.
Analysis: Life is good when your teammates stake you to a 5-0 lead, as happened Saturday. Jonathan Quick's skid was as frustrating as it as unexpected, but you should start him whenever you can; the Kings are among the league's better defensive teams, and they have enough offensive talent to give Quick a fair share of wins.
News:Jonathan Quick will be between the pipes for Saturday's game against the Wild, LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick owns a .934 save percentage and 1.96 GAA thanks to three straight shutouts in late October, but he has allowed at least three goals in six of his last seven starts. He'll look to get back on track Saturday against a Minnesota squad that is averaging just 2.07 goals per game.

Analysis:Jonathan Quick has been one of the best keepers in the business since the start of last season, and he's taken his game to an absurd level this season. Through 11 starts Quick has a 1.68 GAA and .941 save percentage, and you really can't play much better than that.
News:Jonathan Quick nudged aside 31 shots Saturday against the Penguins, but Los Angeles fell in a shootout, 3-2.
Analysis: He's 0-2-2 in his last four starts, but don't let that dissuade you; his season-long numbers are outstanding (1.68, .941). He's one of the elite netminders in the NHL right now.

News:Jonathan Quick saved 24 of 27 shots in Thursday's shutout loss to Nikolai Khabibulin and the Oilers, his third straight loss on the heels of a five-game winning streak.
Analysis: Considering the quality of Jonathan Quick's work in that winning streak -- like those three consecutive shutouts -- his little stumble is quite permissible. Unfortunately for Quick, who's in the top three in save percentage and goals-against average, he just took a loss to the 38-year-old man who's first in both.

Analysis: Kings coach Terry Murray indicated that he is planning on Jonathan Quick starting the back-to-backs, but he said that could change depending on how things go Saturday. Quick has been the Kings' best goalie so far this season, but Jonathan Bernier will continue to see action occasionally.

News:Jonathan Quick's shutout streak reached three games as the Kings beat Dallas on Saturday, 1-0.
Analysis: At the risk of belaboring the obvious, he's the hottest goalie in the NHL right now. If you own him, you might consider dangling him in trade to see what kind of ransom he can command with a sterling set of statistics (5-0-1, 0.81, .972). Numbers like that obviously won't last, but there's no harm in seeing what you can get from a goaltending-starved competitor.
News:Jonathan Quick is expected to start again Saturday against the Stars, according to Rich Hammond of LA Kings Insider.
Analysis: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Jonathan Quick has two straight shutouts with a sparkling 4-0-1 record and .967 save percentage, so there's no way the team is going to sit him with gaps around Saturday's game.

Analysis: There have been whispers that the Kings plan to get Jonathan Bernier more involved this year, but with the way Jonathan Quick is performing (a 1.20 GAA through four games), there is no reason to think that will occur anytime soon.
News:Jonathan Quick picked up his first shutout of the season with a 5-0 blanking of the Blues on Tuesday.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick's strong start to the season has quieted any talk of a goalie controversy in LA for the moment as he's taken control of No. 1 spot and not given Jonathan Bernier much of a chance to work his way into the rotation. He's sporting a .960 save percentage and a 1.20 GAA in four starts this season.
News:Jonathan Quick will start Tuesday's game against St. Louis, according to Rich Hammond of LA Kings Insider.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick has a .948 save percentage and a 1.57 GAA in three starts, so the team will keep rolling him with a two-day rest from Saturday's start. Once he starts Tuesday, Quick will have four starts on the season to Jonathan Bernier's one.
News:Jonathan Quick's hot start to the season continued Saturday with a 32-save effort in a win over the Rangers.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick's facing some increased competition from Jonathan Bernier but hasn't given the team any reason to not ride their No. 1 goalie so far this year with a .948 save percentage and a 1.57 GAA in three starts.
Quick Expected to Start For Kings On Saturday Night
News:Jonathan Quick is expected to start Saturday's game against the Flyers, LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick has allowed just three goals over his two starts this season, but he'll be tested Saturday by a Flyers team that has lit the lamp 12 times through three games.
News:Jonathan Quick stopped 36 of 37 shots in regulation and overtime, but got lit up for goals on both shootout attempts against him in Wednesday's loss to the Devils.
Analysis: Shootout or no, Jonathan Quick has looked good so far despite getting this loss hung on him. The Kings' offense really hasn't kicked things into gear yet.
News:Jonathan Quick will get the start in goal Thursday against the Devils, LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick fared better in his first start than backup Jonathan Bernier did in his, and he'll look to keep things rolling against the Devils on Thursday night.
News:Jonathan Quick's teammate Jonathan Bernier will start in goal Saturday against Buffalo, Rich Hammond of LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis:Jonathan Quick stopped 24 of 26 shots in Friday's overtime win against the Rangers, but the announcement to start Bernier Saturday came shortly after the game. These two could be alternating starts when the team plays back-to-back nights.
News:Jonathan Quick will get the start on goal Friday, the LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: The Kings are still undecided on Saturday's starter as they don't play again until the following Thursday but Jonathan Quick will get the tap on the pads for the season opener as expected.
News:Jonathan Quick stopped all 27 shots he faced as Los Angeles defeated Colorado 6-0 Wednesday night.
Analysis: Los Angeles' No. 1 goalie will need to be sharp all year long as young backup Jonathan Bernier will be breathing down his neck. Jonathan Quick had a 35-22-3 record in 2010-11 with a .918 SV% and a 2.24 GAA. He also posted six shutouts.
News:Jonathan Quick will enter the season as the Kings' starting netminder but the team won't hesitate to go with the hot hand during the season, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Quick and Jonathan Bernier shared the duties last season and figure to do so again but Bernier could push Quick for playing time as the team won't hesitate to stick with the hot goalie as points are at a premium in what figures to be a tight divisional race in the Pacific. "Quick is our No. 1 guy and he came out of the gate last year and he was great. Every game he played, he was outstanding. We know how important every game, every point is in this league. ... So I'm going to go with the guy that is playing really well. Quick will be the starting goaltender coming out of the training camp, and that's how we will deal with it as we move forward. Jonathan Bernier is a goaltender in waiting. I was real happy with his second half of the year. He played some huge games. In fact, I think he got points in every game that he played after the All-Star break. He's starting to get his feel in the NHL. He's moving in the right direction, understanding the shooters and the pace of the game now. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens, but Jonathan Quick is our No. 1 guy," head coach Terry Murray said.
News: Quick stopped 51 shots to carry the Kings to a 3-1 win over the Sharks in Game 5 of the teams' first-round playoff series Saturday night.
Analysis: This effort stands in sharp contrast to his last two outings, in which he yielded 12 tallies. The Kings now return home for Game 6 with a fair amount of momentum behind them. The chances that they'll start someone other than Quick for that contest are essentially zero.
News: Quick will get the start in goal Saturday despite allowing 12 goals in his last two games, the LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: "No change in goal. Absolutely not. Jonathan Quick's our goaltender. He's our number-one guy, period," head coach Terry Murray said. If the Kings want to dig themselves out of a 3-to-1 hole they'll look for Quick to lead the effort.
News: Quick struggled again in Game 4 on Thursday, allowing six goals on 27 shots in a 6-3 loss to San Jose.
Analysis: Quick's allowed six goals in each of his last two starts to put the Kings on the brink of elimination as the team readies itself for Game 5. At this point a goalie change would seem unlikely however.
News: Quick stopped 30 of 36 shots in Tuesday's 6-5 overtime loss to San Jose.
Analysis: Quick and his teammates absolutely fell apart in a game they once led 4-0. Quick allowed five goals in the second period alone before Devin Setoguchi won it in overtime. Quick will be right back in goal for Game 4, but it's reasonable to think Tuesday's collapse could affect him for the rest of the series.
News: Quick gave Los Angeles the defensive effort it needed to square the first-round series with San Jose at a game apiece Saturday. He made 34 saves as the Kings won in the Shark Tank, 4-0.
Analysis: He's been arguably the best goalie in the league over the first two games, losing a heartbreaker in overtime in Game 1. In two games, his Sv% is .962, which is about all you can ask of your netminder. The Kings now head home with plenty of momentum; if Quick continues to play like this, the Kings will have a realistic chance of a first-round upset, despite the absence of their best scorer.
News: Quick stopped 42 of 45 shots Thursday in Game 1 against San Jose, but the 45th was Joe Pavelski's game-winner 14:44 into overtime.
Analysis: You certainly can't blame Quick on a night when he made 42 saves. Without Anze Kopitar, the Kings will have a tough time keeping up with San Jose's offense, so even if Quick plays well, it doesn't seem likely that Los Angeles will go very far.
News: The Kings plan to roll with Quick in the playoffs, which commence Thursday on the road against the Sharks, lakingsinsider.com reports.
Analysis: When asked whether there was any scenario in which backup Jonathan Bernier would be scheduled for a start in the Kings' upcoming series, coach Terry Murray said, "No," then, after taking a pause, he added another, "No." In any case, it looks like those who draft Quick can count on at least four games, with his ultimate upside obviously hinging on the ability of the No. 7-seeded Kings taking down the No. 2-seeded Sharks in Round 1 of the playoffs.
News: In his fifth start in eight days, Quick yielded three goals to the visiting Ducks on just 20 shots as Anaheim won, 3-1.
Analysis: The playoff schedule hasn't been set, so we don't know how many days' rest Quick will get before he heads for the crease yet again.
News: Quick will start Saturday's regular season finale against Anaheim, the Kings' official site reports.
Analysis: Quick could probably use some rest heading into the playoffs, but with the Kings' seed still not determined, they'll put him between the pipes for the second time in as many nights.
News: Quick gave up two goals on 28 shots in a loss to the Ducks on Friday night.
Analysis: The loss actually enabled Anaheim to secure a playoff spot, but it's unlikely that the Southern California rivals will meet in the postseason unless both clubs manage to play their way into the Western Conference finals.
News: Quick is expected to start Friday's road game in Anaheim, according to the Los Angeles Times' Helene Elliott.
Analysis: Quick, who has started nine of the past 10 games, might be due for a rest as the Kings have clinched a playoff spot and currently sit in fourth place in the Western Conference standings. However, with two games to play and Nashville and Phoenix both just one point behind them, home ice advantage in the postseason is still very much up in the air at this point. Therefore, the Kings will likely continue to roll with Quick as their top netminder under the final playoff seedings have been determined.
News: Quick improved to 10-0 in shootouts this season in Wednesday's win over the Coyotes.
Analysis: Quick's track-record in shootouts is really remarkable, and given how tight the Western Conference is, it's also the difference between the Kings clinching a playoff spot like they did Wednesday night and being on the outside looking in.
News: Quick will start Wednesday against the Coyotes, LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Just an FYI for those who were concerned that Quick might be sitting Wednesday after getting the hook Monday night.
News: Quick will start Monday in San Jose, LAKingsInsider.com reports.
Analysis: At 34-19-3, Quick has cracked the 30-win plateau for the third season in a row, and his .920 SV% and 2.18 GAA represent career bests in both categories. Fantasy owners should be very happy with the performance Quick has delivered them this season.
News: Quick only stopped 12 of the 16 shots he faced Monday against the Sharks, getting pulled after 25:30.
Analysis: Quick is still a strong option in net, even if his win chances are slightly worse without Justin Williams and Anze Kopitar in the lineup.
News: Quick backstopped the Kings to a 3-1 win over the Stars with a 24-save performance on Saturday.
Analysis: His win totals this season may be below his lofty 39 from last year. But his save percentage and goals-against average are considerably better than the numbers he tallied there in 2009-10. He'll be the reason the Kings go anywhere this postseason.
News: Quick will start against Dallas on Saturday, LAKingsInsider.com reports.
Analysis: Dallas is 2-4-4 in their last 10, and Quick is 9-3 against them in his career. You can probably find a worse option.
Kings' Quick Tabbed For Thursday Start Against Canucks
News: Quick is expected to start Thursday in Vancouver, according to the Los Angeles Times' Helene Elliott.
Analysis: Quick sat out Tuesday's game against the Oilers in favour of Jonathan Bernier, but prior to that he'd won three straight. Furthermore, Quick has allowed fewer than three goals in six of his past eight starts. As long as he gets some goal support from his teammaates, he makes for a good quality fantasy start on any given night, even against a quality opponent like the Canucks.
News: Jonathan Bernier is expected to start Tuesday's game against the Oilers, with Quick scheduled to play Thursday against the Canucks, the Kings' official site reports.
Analysis: He has started the Kings' last five games, so he'll give way to Bernier on Tuesday night. Quick is having a terrific month, going 5-2-1 with a 1.96 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage in eight starts.
News: Quick stopped 20 of 21 shots Saturday against Colorado to pick up his 33rd win of the year.
Analysis: He had a favorable matchup against a Colorado team in disarray and took advantage of it. Quick has really put together a terrific season, and he's on a little roll right now, winning five of his last seven starts.
News: Quick will start Saturday's game against the Avalanche, LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Quick is a strong play against a Colorado team that is 2-7-1 and has averaged just 2.30 goals in 10 games this month.
News: Quick will start in goal Thursday against San Jose, LAKingsInsider.com reports.
Analysis: The Kings are one of three 88-point teams desperately trying to move ahead of each other in the tightly-contested Western Conference playoff race. As long as the Kings are in it, you can bet they will continue to start Quick, their ace puckstopper, each and every night.
News: Quick turned away 27 of the 28 shots he faced Monday in a shootout win over the Flames.
Analysis: With the Kings fighting for a playoff spot in the ultra competitive Western Conference, Quick is likely to get a lot of starts down the stretch, provided he doesn't sputter. As one of the league leaders in wins, GAA, and shutouts, he's definitely a good bet.
News: Quick lost a 2-1 heartbreaker to the Ducks on Saturday, allowing the winning goal in overtime after playing a solid regulation. He amassed 23 saves on the night.
Analysis: Despite his pedestrian 2-2-1 record over the past two weeks, we recommend that you continue to start him. He's allowed just 11 goals in five games over that span, and he continues to be among the strongest fantasy goalies in the Western Conference.
News: Quick will start in goal Saturday against Anaheim, LAKingsInsider.com reports.
Analysis: Quick will be looking to bounce back after Thursday's 4-0 loss to the Blues. He has squared off against Anaheim twice this year, going 1-1 while stopping 42 of 46 shots.
News: Quick will get the start in goal Thursday, the LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Quick and the Kings will look to continue their hot streak against the Blues. Expect the Kings to use Quick heavily down the stretch in the team's last dozen games.
News: Quick turned away 21 of the 23 shots he faced Sunday in a win over the Stars.
Analysis: Quick now has 30 wins on the season, to go with a 2.20 GAA and a .919 SV%. As the Kings fight for playoff positioning, he should be getting plenty of starts and is worth using in nearly any matchup.
News: Quick will start Sunday against Dallas, LAKingsInsider.com reports.
Analysis: Quick will be looking to stay hot after allowing just one goal in Wednesday's victory at Detroit.
News: Quick stopped 28 of 29 shots Wednesday night as Los Angeles downed Detroit 2-1.
Analysis: He was also named the game's first star. It was his 29th win of the year.
Kings' Quick Slated For Wednesday Start Against Detroit
News: Quick is expected to start Wednesday against the Red Wings, LAKingsInsider.com reports.
Analysis: Quick has been splitting more time with backup Jonathan Bernier the last couple of weeks, as coach Terry Murray seems to want to spread out his goalie minutes a little more evenly these days. The only way Quick will return to playing the lion's share of games for the Kings will be to string two or three quality starts in a row, starting with Wednesday against the Wings. He'll be in tough, as Detroit torched him for six goals last time the two teams met. You might want to go with another goalie alternative Wednesday night and monitor Quick's results from afar.
News: Quick will start in goal Saturday against Vancouver, LAKingsInsider.com reports.
Analysis: Quick was nothing short of brutal his last time out, but coach Terry Murray pointed to Quick's ability to bounce back from poor starts and his familiarity with the Canucks as two reasons why he'll get the nod Saturday.
News: It was a rough night for Quick on Monday against the Red Wings. He only managed to stop 18 of the 24 shots he faced before getting pulled after 45:22.
Analysis: Despite this bad loss, Quick still has some of the best fantasy numbers among goaltenders, including 28 wins and six shutouts. Don't let this game change how you've been using him.
Kings' Quick Tabbed For Monday Start Against Wings
News: Quick will start Monday's game against the Red Wings, the LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: No surprise here - Quick has nine wins in his last 11 starts and is firmly entrenched as the Kings' top netminder. Roll him as you normally would, even against a quality opponent like Detroit.
News: Quick will start against the Avalanche on Saturday, the LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Quick has anchored a very solid run by the Kings so far this season. He is 27-15-2 with a 2.11 GAA and .922 SV%, numbers that leave the Kings sitting just six points back of San Jose for first place in the Western Conference's Pacific division. You can expect Quick to continue to get the majority of starts down the stretch as the team positions itself for a playoff run.
News: Quick will start against the Ducks on Wednesday night, the LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: He's been sharp lately, going 4-1-1 with a 1.92 GAA and .934 save percentage over his last six starts. We'd roll him against the Ducks given the opportunity to do so Wednesday night.
News: Quick made just 20 saves Saturday in a 3-0 loss to the lowly Islanders.
Analysis: To make matters worse, he allowed two goals to his brother-in-law, Matt Moulson. He may have lost the battle of the in-laws on the night but he's still the family stud. Consider this just an off night; use him as you always would.
News: Quick will get the start Saturday against Pittsburgh, according to the Kings' official site.
Analysis: Following a rough patch in January that saw him win just one of seven starts, Quick has rebounded sharply with seven wins in his last eight appearances. Those of you who have stuck with him through thick and thin are now the proud owners of his 26-14-2 record, 2.10 GAA and .923 save percentage, which are among the best in the NHL. Good work, fantasy owners - keep Quick in your lineups and you should continue to reap the rewards.
News: Quick will start in goal Wednesday against Columbus, LAKingsInsider.com reports.
Analysis: Quick is on a roll right now, going 6-0-1 with a a 1.53 GAA and .950 save percentage in his last seven starts. Feel free to roll with him against the Blue Jackets.
News: Quick stopped 40 shots for the shutout in Sunday's 1-0 win over Philadelphia.
Analysis: Quick (25-14-2) is 6-0-1 in last seven starts with a stellar 1.53 GAA and .950 save percentage.
News: Quick will start Sunday against Philadelphia, LAKingsInsider.com reports.
Analysis: Jonathan Bernier started Saturday, but the last time he faced the Flyers he allowed six goals on 22 shots, so Quick will get the start this time around.
News: Quick stopped 24 shots through regulation and overtime, but Jordan Staal broke a 1-1 tie with 19 seconds left in overtime to send Pittsburgh to the win.
Analysis: The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for Quick; nonetheless, he's back on his game after struggling at times last month and makes a fine fantasy play. It always helps to face the Penguins without Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, too.
News: Quick will get the start for the Kings on Thursday against Pittsburgh, according to the Kings' Official Twitter Feed.
Analysis: Normally a road start in Pittsburgh would carry several caution labels, but this one will have two less without the "Warning-Crosby" and "Warning-Malkin" signals working in Pittsburgh. Quick will be going for his sixth straight win.
News: Quick won his fifth straight start, beating Calgary on Saturday, 4-3, by making five straight saves in the shootout. He turned aside 32 shots in reguation and overtime.
Analysis: This one was a tad uglier than the previous four, but it's clear that he's turned things up a notch. Start him whenever you can.
Kings' Quick Earns Coach's Praise, Set To Start Again Saturday
News: Quick is scheduled to start Saturday night against the Flames, according to the LA Kings Insider.
Analysis: With Quick's 32-save performance against the Oilers on Wednesday, he now has four straight wins in the books and has allowed two or fewer goals in five of his last six starts. More importantly though, is the level of poise and confidence that Quick seems to be showing, something coach Terry Murray pointed out after practice Friday. "Right at the start of [Wednesday's] game, [the Oilers] get a couple attacks with their speed and skill. You could see the first moves that [Quick] made, to make those first couple stops, and you just know he's on top of it. You sense it, you see it and there's a great feeling on the bench. He was very sharp, very alert. Compact, quick on the puck, just really positive stuff out of his game. Very encouraging to see that he is coming alive here at a critical time for us."
News: Quick will start against Edmonton on Wednesday, LAKings.com reports.
Analysis: Edmonton is just 15-26-8 on the year, so it's a good matchup for Quick, who has a GAA of just 2.15 so far this season.
News: Quick will start Wednesday against the Sharks, according to the LA Kings Insider.
Analysis: On Monday, Quick posted his second consecutive win by shutting out the Bruins. He looks to have broken out of a slump that saw him win just one game in nine starts from Dec. 29 to Jan. 20, so for any fantasy owners who have been keeping him benched, re-activate him immediately.
News: Quick stopped all 34 shots he faced Monday against the Bruins.
Analysis: The Kings have been struggling recently, and Quick's play has slipped a bit, but he's still a guy you want on your team, and most of the time a guy you want in your lineup.
Kings' Quick Tabbed For Monday Start Against Bruins
News: Quick is expected to start Monday against the
Bruins, according to the Los Angeles Times' Helene Elliott.
Analysis: Quick wasn't all that sharp Saturday against Phoenix, allowing three goals on 26 shots, but it was enough to get the win - his first in five starts. He will need to be much better against the B's and the red-hot Tim Thomas, winner of five straight starts.
News: Quick made 23 saves in a 4-3 win over Phoenix on Saturday night.
Analysis: He has scuffled lately so this win will be a confidence booster despite the low shot totals. He needs it. He'd dropped four straight and had won just once in his last eight. It's not enough for us to recommend him again but a step forward is a step forward.
Kings' Quick Gets Starting Nod Saturday Against Coyotes
News: Quick will be between the pipes Saturday against Phoenix, according to the LA Kings Insider.
Analysis: The wheels have really come off for Quick lately, as he now has just one win in his past nine games. In the meantime, backup Jonathan Bernier is seeing more game action, so it looks like coach Terry Murray will continue to alternate the two goalies until one of them manages to get hot. Exhaust all other fantasy goalie options Saturday before you turn to Quick.
Kings' Quick Gets Shot At Redemption Thursday Against Coyotes
News: Quick will start Thursday against Phoenix, according to the LA Kings Insider.
Analysis: Quick will get a chance to redeem himself after allowing the game-winning goal to trickle past him late in Tuesday's loss to St. Louis. Earlier in the week, coach Terry Murray talked about taking a "win and you're in" approach to starting either Quick or Jonathan Bernier, but has obviously decided Quick deserves another chance. "I thought [Quick] had a very good game [Tuesday]...the timing of the goal against, and the goal itself, were not good, but he's our No. 1 guy. It's a big division game here [Thursday], and he will play."
News: Quick stopped 24 of 26 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Blues.
Analysis: Despite the loss, Quick played well, which was important considering Jonathan Bernier started the Kings' previous two games. Quick is still the number one man for the Kings, but it wouldn't be a shock to see the young and talented Bernier get more playing time in the coming weeks.
Kings' Quick Tabbed For Tuesday Start Against Blues
News: Quick will start Tuesday against the Blues, according to the LA Kings Insider.
Analysis: Quick makes his return to the twine tent following a two-game absence in which Jonathan Bernier handled the starting duties. During that stretch, Bernier actually played quite well, going 1-1 with a .925 SV% and 2.05 GAA. Fortunately for Quick owners, it will take more than two good starts for Bernier to unseat him as the team's number one netminder. Quick has just one win in his past seven starts, but apparently still has the confidence of his coach, Terry Murray. Keep Quick active until it becomes evident that he's lost his hold on the starter's role.
News: Quick allowed three goals on 21 shots Thursday to take his fifth loss in his last six starts.
Analysis: He's struggled badly lately, posting an .885 save percentage for the month of January. Quick started the year 10-1-0, but is just 9-11-1 since. Fortunately for him, Jonathan Bernier has been unable to establish himself as a legitimate competitor for the No. 1 goalie role.
News: Quick is expected to start Thursday against the Blues, according to the Los Angeles Times' Helene Elliott.
Analysis: Quick's recent struggles continued on Monday as he gave up three goals in a loss to the Maple Leafs, his fourth loss in his past six games. His overall stats are still quite respectable (19-11-1, 2.18 GAA, .920 SV%), but fantasy owners are no doubt getting impatient. Keep in mind, however, Quick did post three shutouts in the second half of December, and he's quite capable of getting hot again at any minute. Keep him active and hope he finds a way to right the ship.
Kings' Quick Tabbed For Monday Start Against Maple Leafs
News: Quick will start Monday against the Maple Leafs, according to the LA Kings Insider.
Analysis: Quick snapped a personal four-game winless slide Saturday with a win against Columbus, but allowed four goals in the process. Overall, he hasn't played all that well of late, with a 2.87 GAA and .879 SV% in his past four games. Perhaps his only saving grace is that backup Jonathan Bernier hasn't fared much better, with 11 goals allowed in his last two starts. Quick should continue to see the majority of work for the Kings going forward, unless he somehow suffers a serious meltdown.
News: Quick snapped a personal three-game losing streak with a 6-4 win against Columbus on Saturday night. He allowed the four goals on 34 shots (.882).
Analysis: While his season-long numbers are stll terrific (19W, 2.15, .920), he's been a Jekyll-or-Hyde backstop lately. Mr. Hyde showed up Saturday, but got the win anyway because of a strong Los Angeles attack. He's still a good start choice, but you should moderate your enthusiasm just a tad until he strings together several Jekyll outings.
News: Quick will get the nod in goal Saturday against the Blue Jackets, LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Quick has not won since Dec. 27, but expect him to get back on track against a Columbus team that is averaging just 2.50 goals per game.
News: Quick will be between the pipes Monday night, according to LAKingsInsider.com.
Analysis: Feel free to deploy Quick as you normally would, especially in weekly lineup leagues.
News: On a night when the Los Angeles attack was stymied by a hot goaltender, Quick allowed a single goal and lost as San Jose took a 1-0 win in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Analysis: If there's such a thing as a good loss, this was it. Quick showed that Wednesday's six-goal outing against the 'Yotes was a fluke, and restated his claim to being among the elite fantasy goalies in the league.
News: Quick will be in goal for Saturday's game against the Sharks, LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Quick gave up a season-high six goals in his last start to end a personal three-game winning streak, but he only gave up one in a relief appearance Thursday. Quick remains a top goalie option and should be started in all formats.
News: Quick was removed from Wednesday's game after allowing six goals on 18 shots. The Kings went on to lose 6-3 to the host Coyotes.
Analysis: Quick saw his personal three-game win streak snapped and was pulled for the first time this season. The Kings, and Quick, do not allow a lot of goals, so consider this an anomaly and toss him back on the ice when Los Angeles next takes to the ice.
News: Quick will start against the Coyotes on Wednesday, LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Quick slammed the door on the Sharks for his 12th career shutout as recently as Monday evening, giving him plenty of momentum for his date with the 'Yotes. He could use the extra lift since he lost against them earlier in the season.
News: Quick turned aside all 24 shots he faced against the Sharks on Monday night.
Analysis: For two periods, Antti Niemi matched Quick save-for-save, but the Kings cracked his code in the third period to give Quick the shutout victory.
News: Quick will get the starting nod Monday for a road contest against the Sharks, LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: There never was much doubt that Quick would be Monday's starter. Jonathan Bernier gave him extra rest by starting the night before, and the Kings will need to bring their best players against the Sharks, owners of four straight wins.
News: Quick stopped 27 of 29 in regulation and OT Thursday against Edmonton, then saved five of six in the shootout for the win.
Analysis: With another good outing, Quick continues to build on his Vezina candidacy. He's third in the NHL in all three major goalie categories -- wins (17), GAA (1.93) and save percentage (.929).
News: Quick is expected to start Tuesday against Colorado, the LA Times reports.
Analysis: Except for a 51-save shutout against the Red Wings on Dec. 13, Quick has been mediocre lately with just one win in his last four starts. With Jonathan Bernier waiting in the wings, Quick cannot afford to get himself into an extended slump, or he risks losing ice time to the promising young netminder. Monitor carefully.
News: Quick stopped all 23 shots he faced in Tuesday's 5-0 win over Colorado.
Analysis: Quick didn't have much work, but his owners will certainly take the final result. He had struggled a bit of late so it was nice to see a bounce-back effort Tuesday. The shutout was his third of the season.
News: Quick is expected to start Sunday against Chicago, the LA Times reports.
Analysis: Quick had Saturday night off against the Predators, so he will be well-rested to take on the Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks on Sunday. Quick is 15-6-1 on the season so far, with a 1.98 GAA and .929 SV%, making him an excellent fantasy play on any given night.
News: Quick stopped just 25 of 30 shots in Thursday's loss to St. Louis.
Analysis: This was the worst game of the year for Quick, the first time he's given up five goals. We'll give him a mulligan on this one, since he shut out the Red Wings his last time out and all.
News: Quick will be in goal for Thursday's game against the Blues, according to the Kings' official Twitter page.
Analysis: Quick, coming off a shutout in his last start, has allowed more than two goals just once in his last seven games. Expect another strong performance Thursday against a beat up Blues squad.
News: Quick turned aside 51 shots Monday against Detroit for his second shutout of the season.
Analysis: The effort was a bit Herculean, as the Kings were outshot almost 2-1. Quick has been playing excellently of late with four wins in his last five starts and just eight goals allowed in those four starts. Quick and the Kings are one of the league's upstart squads and will be a safe play securing the bulk of the starts.
News: Quick only faced 21 shots in Saturday's game against Minnesota. Unfortunately, three of them got past him as the Wild won 3-2 in overtime.
Analysis: This actually qualifies as a subpar outing for him, as he's played well lately. For statistical purposes, he's always a good start, but the ineffectiveness of the Los Angeles attack will keep him from winning his share of games.
News: Quick will start Saturday against Minnesota, LAKingsInsider reports.
Analysis: Following a soft patch that saw Quick win just one of five games to close out the month of November, he now appears to be back on track so far in December with three straight wins. Quick will continue to get the bulk of the starting load for the Kings and at 14-5-0 is very worthy of fantasy attention. Keep him active in all formats.
News: Quick was denied the shutout Thursday against Calgary thanks to Olli Jokinen's late power-play goal, but he still stopped 26 shots for the win.
Analysis: Quick's spectacular goaltending this season has been perhaps the biggest factor in the Kings' ability to stay right up there with excellent teams like Dallas and Phoenix. Keep rolling him out until he gives you a reason not to.
News: Quick will start against the Flames on Thursday, the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: The Kings are last place in the Pacific Division standings, but Quick has already compiled 13 wins, fifth most in the NHL. Better yet, he's only allowed 11 goals over his past five starts. In daily leagues, consider starting Quick for this one.
News: Quick stopped 27 shots on his way to his 13th win of the season as Los Angeles topped Detroit on Saturday, 3-2.

News: Quick will get the bulk of the starts for the Kings this month, LAKingsInsider reports.
Analysis: Quick has been outperforming Jonathan Bernier this season with a 1.92 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage. News: Quick will start on Monday against Anaheim, the LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Quick started the season like a house on fire, recording wins in 10 of his first 11 games. Since then, he's hit a bit of a soft patch with just a single victory in his last four starts. Don't let that convince you to take him out of your fantasy starting rotation, however. The Kings are for real this year, and Quick will continue to see the majority of starts until further notice.
News: Quick suffered a hard-luck loss Saturday as the Kings fell to the Blackhawks, 2-1. He gave up a disputed goal to Patrick Kane, and saw his offense stymied by Chicago's defense all night.
Analysis: His 21 saves went for nought as he lost his third decision in four contests. He's still an excellent fantasy goalie -- 1.91, .930 tells you all you need to know on that account -- but he's having trouble finding W's right now.
Quick Could See Expanded Role Over Coming Weeks for Kings
News: Quick, who will start in goal Saturday, could see an increased workload until the end of December, the LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: The Kings' schedule is pretty light, with just 12 games in the next 29 games, so the team may ride their #1 goaltender to see if they can't break out a funk (1-5-0 their last six games after a 12-3-0 streak to start the season). "Quicker is going to play tomorrow. Certainly the option, with the scheduling right now, is that I could put him in and not have any concerns about over-using him in that position. So we'll see how it plays out," head coach Terry Murray said.

News: Quick made 38 saves through overtime Saturday in a 4-3 win over the Bruins.

News: Quick will get the start in goal Saturday in Boston, NESN.com reports.
Analysis: This was expected after the team started Jonathan Bernier on Friday in Buffalo (and lost). This is a tough start, on the road against a team that didn't play Friday like the Kings did, though it's also hard to sit Quick and his 10-2-0, 1.73, .936 numbers until he cools down.
News: Quick faced just 19 shots as the Kings won easily over the Islanders on Saturday, 5-1.
Analysis: He's up to 10-1 on the season with marvelous composite numbers (1.52, .944), and is the best goaltender in the league right now.

News: Quick will start on Saturday against the Devils, the LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Many observers felt that Quick might be in for more of a timeshare situation with backup Jonathan Bernier this season, but Quick's hot start to the season (6-1-0, 1.96 GAA, .928 SV%) all but guarantees that is not in the cards, at least for now. Keep rolling him with confidence.
News: Quick stopped 30 of 32 shots Thursday night in a win over Dallas.

Analysis: His owners are well aware that he's posted two clunkers after three outstanding games to start the season. He still has solid season-long numbers (1.97, .929), thanks to the strong start, but he merits watching to see how he bounces back from these two rough outings.
News: Quick will start against Colorado on Saturday night, Rich Hammond of the LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: He gave up three goals on 26 shots in a loss to Phoenix on Thursday, but head coach Terry Murray is showing some confidence in his netminder by giving him another spin rather than turning to young No. 2 option Jonathan Bernier. Quick needs to play well in order to avoid losing time, however, and he was sharp with three straight wins to open the season with just one goal allowed in each of those contests prior to Thursday's loss.
News: Quick allowed three goals on 26 shots in Thursday's loss to the Coyotes, his first loss of the year after three straight wins in which he allowed one goal each.

Analysis: Los Angeles visits Calgary on Sunday and hosts Atlanta on Tuesday, and Quick will get only one of those starts. Check back for any advance news on which game he'll sit; our current prediction is that he'll be in the crease Tuesday.
News: Quick is expected to start on Saturday against the Canucks, the LA Kings Insider reports.

News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 13 saves Saturday in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Oilers. Quick's last win was way back on March 22.
Analysis: Quick isn't exactly instilling confidence for the Kings heading into the playoffs, but next week will be kind of a new season, so hopefully he'll put this poor spell of play behind him. Quick's recent slump has dropped him down to a No. 2 Fantasy goalie for now, along with the Kings TG, but a good playoff run could vault him back up heading into 2010-11.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick stopped 25 of 27 pucks in regulation and overtime on Thursday, but the Coyotes lit the lamp twice on four shots during the shootout for a 3-2 victory. Quick is now winless in his last seven starts.
Analysis: Quick's 0-3-2 record over his last seven starts isn't his fault, as he's allowed only 19 goals over that stretch. Los Angeles did sign Quick to an extension, but prospect Jonathan Bernier is quickly climbing the organizational depth chart and that isn't good news. Quick remains the Kings' No. 1 goalie, but track his offseason progress before Draft Day 2010. The Kings TG remains a No. 2 option.
News: Usually using two goalies in a game doesn't spell success, but the Kings hit the jackpot during Tuesday's 5-4 shootout win against the Ducks. After Jonathan Quick failed to turn in a solid performance, Erik Ersberg took over and guided Los Angeles to a comeback win. The Kings pulled Quick after the franchise's single-season wins leader yielded three goals on eight shots in the first 22:01. Ersberg took over despite a three-goal deficit. Ersberg made 12 saves in relief for the Kings and allowed only one goal in the shootout.
Analysis: Quick is winless in his last six appearances and has allowed at least three goals in six of his last seven outings. Perhaps the long season is finally wearing on the Connecticut native. News:Martin Havlat scored a power-play goal in the third period, and the Minnesota Wild beat Jonathan Quick and the Los Angeles Kings, 3-2 on Monday. With Andrew Brunette standing in front, Havlat's slap shot from just inside the left point beat Quick high on the glove side at 7:38. It was Minnesota's second power-play goal of the game. Quick made 17 saves as he battled back from a 2-0 deficit.
Analysis: Quick is now winless in his last four outings and has allowed three or more goals in all but three of 13 appearances since the Olympic break. He still has a GAA well under 3.00 for March, but with just four wins in that span, Quick is not helping Fantasy owners at a crucial time. He has lost some Fantasy appeal during his March slide. The Kings TG is more of a No. 2 option while Quick struggles.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick dropped a third straight start Saturday as Los Angeles fell 4-1 to Dallas. Quick stopped 22 shots in defeat.
Analysis: Quick has allowed 13 goals during his last four games and is stumbling to the finish line a little bit. News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 18 saves during a 4-3 overtime win against the Avalanche on Monday. Quick was about to win in regulation before T.J. Galiardi scored in the final seconds. The Avalanche tied it on their final rush when Peter Mueller threaded a pass to Paul Stastny at the blue line. The U.S. Olympian slipped right past Rob Scuderi for a shot at Quick, and Galiardi rushed in to slap home the rebound for his 13th goal and first in seven games. But Ruslan Salei went to the penalty box with 1:39 left in overtime, and Drew Doughty's hard shot appeared to tip off a Colorado player's stick before flying past Craig Anderson to give Quick the win. Quick has won his last two starts after going winless in his previous three appearances.
Analysis: Quick hasn't had a great run coming out of the Olympic break, but with consecutive wins for the first time since early February he might finally be turning it around. Los Angeles are legit playoff contenders and a lot of it has to do with Quick's play in 2009-10. He has emerged as a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Kings TG has the same Fantasy value.

Analysis: It's been a tough stretch for Quick lately. He's allowed three goals in each of his last three starts (going 0-2-1 in that stretch), but has had a save percentage over .900 in each contest. It's safe to keep him active as a No. 1 Fantasy goalie heading into Week 22 (March 15-21). The Kings TG is also a high-end option.

Quick has been spectacular for Los Angeles in 2009-10 and a reason why Los Angeles is in the thick of the playoff race. It's safe to keep him active as a No. 1 Fantasy goalie heading into Week 22 (March 15-21). The Kings TG is also a high-end option.

Quick has emerged as a No. 1 Fantasy goalie in 2009-10.
News: The L.A. Times reports that Kings G Jonathan Quick has left the team to go back to L.A. for the birth of his first child.
Analysis: Quick was an overtime loser on Wednesday night, but he's been a solid No. 1 pretty much all season with his 37 wins. The Kings play again on Friday, but then the team has four days off, so there's a chance Quick might not play the rest of this week. He should be fine for Fantasy Week 22 (March 15-21).
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 40 saves against the Blackhawks on Wednesday but the Kings lost in overtime 3-2. Quick has allowed three goals in three of his last four starts.

News:The Sports Xchange reports G Jonathan Quick will perhaps be the most watched Kings player for the rest of the season. Quick, 24, is in his first full NHL season, and he is certainly making the most of it. Quick has started 55 of the Kings' 61 this season and is on pace to shatter team records for most games and wins in a season.
Analysis: Quick has never appeared in more than 60 games in a professional or collegiate season, but he will be counted on to carry the Kings down the stretch. With Saturday's victory against Colorado, Quick tied the franchise record for wins in a season by a goalie (35, Mario Lessard, 1980-81). We aren't sure what to expect from Quick down the stretch because clearly he is testing his own limits. But you would be a fool to bench him in Fantasy since he has become a full-time netminder and productive option. The Kings TG also has high-end appeal because of Quick.

Quick is now entrenched as a must-start No. 1 Fantasy option, along with the Kings TG.

News: The Los Angeles Times reports that Kings G Jonathan Quick has flu-like symptoms and will not play Thursday vs. the Oilers. Erik Ersberg will take his spot.
Analysis: Quick, who leads the NHL with 34 wins, has been an absolute Fantasy stud so far this season. He plays almost every night when healthy, and is helping the Kings stay in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race. This illness shouldn't stop him from representing the USA in the Olympics, and he will remain a must-start Fantasy goalie come March. Ersberg isn't worth owning except as a handcuff to Quick in the deepest of leagues, while the Kings TG is a No. 1 option.

Analysis: Quick has been in net for all eight wins, breaking the franchise record for the longest winning streak by a goalie. The previous mark was shared by Kelly Hrudey (1991-92) and backup Robb Stauber (1992-93). Quick has won 33 times this season and has lost just once in his last 11 outings. Analysis: Quick solidified his status as a No. 1 Fantasy goalie with his sensational opening month of 2010, and has a couple of nice matchups in Week 18 (Feb. 1-7) with games against Anaheim and the Rangers. The Kings TG is also a suggested start in all formats.

Antoine Vermette ended Quick's shutout with his 17th goal midway through the third period. Quick has won four straight starts and six of seven.
Analysis: Quick has tied his season-high with eight wins in January. He is one win shy of a 30-victory season. He has kept Los Angeles in the playoff race and has adjusted well to a life as a starting NHL goalie. He is a nice low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy netminder. News: Kings G Jonathan Quick was decent on Tuesday but not good enough to match San Jose netminder Evgeni Nabokov. Quick gave up three goals in the 1st period and one in each of the 2nd and 3rd periods and took the loss. He stopped 19 of the 24 shots that came his way.
Analysis: Quick took the loss on Tuesday for the first time in his last three starts but didnt fair horribly against one of the better teams in the NHL. Quick drops to 25-16-3 on the year and that is nothing to be embarrassed over. Quick should be active in the majority of Fantasy leagues and the Kings TG is also a solid option in most formats.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 21 saves in Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over the Bruins.
Analysis: Quick now has 25 wins on the season and should be starting in more than the 60 percent of leagues he is at the moment. The Kings TG pretty much goes as Quick does.
News:Jonathan Quick made 22 saves for his fifth career shutout, captain Dustin Brown scored his 100th goal, and the Los Angeles Kings ended the Anaheim Ducks' five-game winning streak with a 4-0 victory Thursday. Before dominating the Ducks, Los Angeles had dropped to the fringe of the playoff picture with eight losses in its previous 12 games, including three straight one-goal defeats at Staples Center. The Kings' scoring woes finally vanished along with their skid, and U.S. Olympian Quick remained unbeaten in four career starts against Anaheim with his first shutout of the season -- and the fifth in 12 NHL games Thursday night.
Analysis: Quick put an end to a two-game losing streak with his first shutout of the season. He has allowed two or fewer goals in five of his last six appearances. He might not be getting much offensive support as of late, but Quick is making a lot of saves and starting pretty much every night. Quick remains more of a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 option until the Kings heat up again. The Kings TG pretty much goes as Quick does.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick was pulled after 45 minutes of Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Blues. Quick allowed four goals on 23 shots before being replaced by Erik Ersberg.
Analysis: It seems weird to pull a goalie with just 15 minutes left in a game, so hopefully Quick isn't hurt. He's now lost two straight starts, but had won three in a row before that. He's been super streaky lately, but remains worth using as a decent No. 1 option in most formats. The Kings TG is more of a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 option until they heat up a little bit.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 22 saves during a 2-1 loss to the Red Wings on Thursday. Darren Helm scored with 18 seconds left in the third period to steal the victory for Detroit. He took the puck from defenseman Sean O'Donnell in the right corner and threw it at the net, where it trickled under Quick's pads for his seventh goal.
Analysis: Quick had a three-game win streak end despite not having allowed more than two goals for a fourth straight start. In the matter of a year, Quick has gone from Fantasy irrelevant to a No. 1 Fantasy goalie. It's because Quick pretty much starts every night and Los Angeles is a playoff contender. The Kings TG is more of a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 45 saves during a 6-2 win against the Sharks on Monday. The Sharks broke up Quick's shutout bid when defenseman Douglas Murray scored on a power play with 16:39 left. Patrick Marleau scored with 7 minutes to play, his 27th of the season. Quick reeled off a third straight win and has allowed a total of five goals in that span.
Analysis: Quick has followed up a three-game losing skid with a three-game winning run. He has been overly impressive in the process, but Monday's win was arguably one of his best performances of the season. Quick continues to start for Los Angeles on a regular basis and has emerged as a No. 1 Fantasy goalie. The Kings TG is more of a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 26 saves in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Capitals.
Analysis: Quick celebrated his selection to the U.S. Olympic team with a fine performance Saturday against one of the NHL's elite teams. He remains worth using in all Fantasy formats for the time being. The Kings TG is more of a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 option for now.

He made 27 saves in the game and allowed two goals as his record improved to 21-13-3 on the season with the performance. Thr win snapped a three-game losing streak.
Analysis: Quick wasn't too bad during his recent losing skid, but did average three goals over the three-game span. He has been a pleasant surprise this season and hopefully this win will help propel his performance into the new year. He should still be considered a No. 1 Fantasy option in all formats. The Kings TG is more of a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 19 saves during a 4-3 loss to the Wild on Monday. The game was scoreless after one period before Minnesota took a commanding 3-1 lead in the second. Los Angeles rallied to tie the game at 3 with 2:37 remaining, but Eric Belanger then beat Quick for his second goal 12 seconds later for the eventual winner. Quick lost a third straight start and for the fourth time in five starts.
Analysis: Quick allowed more than three goals for the first time in eight starts on Monday. It's not like he has been playing poorly as of late. The Kings just haven't been scoring goals. Quick still starts pretty much every game for Los Angeles and remains a No. 1 Fantasy goalie despite his slide. The Kings TG is a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick lost for the third time in his last four starts Saturday as Los Angeles fell 3-2 to the Coyotes. Quick made 32 saves in defeat.
Analysis: Quick isn't playing terrible hockey lately, as he hasn't allowed more than three goals in his last seven starts, but he isn't getting his Fantasy owners a ton of wins over the last couple of weeks. View him as a No. 2 Fantasy goalie for the time being, while the Kings TG is also a secondary option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 22 saves during a 2-1 loss to the Flames on Thursday. Dion Phaneuf opened the scoring with a power-play goal in the final second of the first period, and Nigel Dawes gave the Flames a 2-0 lead at 1:02 of the third period. With 2.9 seconds remaining in the first, Olli Jokinen beat Anze Kopitar off the faceoff and drew the puck back to Jarome Iginla on the power play. The Calgary captain quickly slid the puck back to Phaneuf at the blue line, and the defenseman one-timed a slap shot past Quick. After video review, the goal stood as Phaneuf's seventh of the season and first in 20 games. In the third, Kings defenseman Alex Martinez had his clearing attempt intercepted and the Flames eventually worked the puck in deep to Daymond Langkow, who set up Dawes for a one-timer for his 10th goal of the season.
Analysis: Quick has lost just twice in his last six starts. In both losses he allowed a total of five goals. It's not like he is getting blown out. He is just losing some close games. Quick has definitely improved in the last month and has made it all the way up to being a No. 1 Fantasy goalie. The Kings TG is probably more of a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 option since backup Erik Ersberg is not a great goalie.
News: Los Angeles G Jonathan Quick had a 2-0 lead over the Oilers by the middle of the 2nd period on Tuesday night. Quick was quick to cough up that lead. He allowed two straight goals by Sheldon Souray and Ryan Potulny as Edmonton tied the score in the 3rd period. L.A.'s Sean O'Donnell came up big with a shorthanded goal, however, and saved the game for Quick, 3-2.
Analysis: Tuesday's closely-contested battle with the Oilers resulted in Quick's 20th victory of the season as he's now 20-10-3 on the year. He has now won seven of his last nine starts and he is continually keeping the goals against down. Quick has emerged as a No. 1 Fantasy goalie. The Kings TG is probably more of a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 option since backup Erik Ersberg is not a great goalie.
News:Ryan Kesler opened the scoring 64 seconds in past Jonathan Quick and set up Mason Raymond's insurance goal with 5:12 left, leading the Vancouver Canucks to a 3-1 victory against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night. Quick made 25 saves as the Kings started a four-game road trip with their first regulation loss in nine games (8-1-1). After Kesler opened the scoring and Quick was forced to make the first of many big glove saves just over a minute later, head coach Terry Murray called a timeout to settle his team. It seemed to work, but after failing to convert back-to-back Canucks penalties that included a 46-second 5-on-3 advantage, Sami Salo doubled Vancouver's lead on a power play with 2:45 left in the first period. Quick, who earlier in the day was named the NHL's first star for last week, made the best of several stellar stops early, throwing out his left pad to rob Alexandre Burrows on a rebound in the first period. He used his left pad again to deny Daniel Sedin, who was named the NHL's second star, on a power play rebound early in the second, and got a glove on Mikael Samuelsson's deflection later in the period.
Analysis: Quick suffered his first regulation loss in eight appearances, so it's not like he has mired in funk. In fact, he won three times last week while allowing only five goals. Quick hasn't looked back since taking over the starting job last season and has the full trust of Murray. Quick has emerged as a No. 1 Fantasy goalie. The Kings TG is probably more of a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 option since backup Erik Ersberg is not a great goalie.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 25 saves Saturday as he picked up a sixth win in his last seven starts as Los Angeles edged the Stars in a shootout.
Analysis: After taking a bit of a step back in November, Quick has found his winning touch again in December and has been racking up the Fantasy points lately. Quick has emerged as a viable No. 1 Fantasy goalie, and you should probably consider the Kings TG the same for now.

Quick had trouble holding a 3-1 lead in the second period and eventually lost the lead before Los Angeles iced the game with three unanswered goals. Analysis: Quick has righted the ship after suffering a three-game losing streak. Quick has been good in net for Los Angeles this season and has emerged as the team's full-time starter. The Kings TG also remains a high-end No. 2 option.

Analysis: Quick has already reached double digits in wins this season, having played in only 15 games. The Kings have been one of the surprise teams to open the season and has certainly gained the respect of more Fantasy owners. However, we still think of Quick as being just a No. 2 Fantasy option. The Kings TG is also a solid No. 2 Fantasy unit.

Quick's record dropped to 8-3-1 with the shootout loss.
Analysis: Quick is off to a great start this season, winning twice as many games as he has lost. This loss snapped a four-game winning streak, but it's not like he didn't play well enough to beat the Sharks. Despite the strong start, Quick remains just a No. 2 Fantasy option. The same goes for the Kings TG.

It's an interesting move since prospect Jonathan Bernier is blowing up in the minors, but Quick has earned the respect of his teammates and coaches. In fact, head coach Terry Murray has recently named Quick the full-time starter since he isn't pleased with backup Erik Ersberg. Quick remains more of a No. 2 Fantasy goalie since his GAA and save percentage are kind of weak. The Kings TG is also a No. 2 option.

Analysis: Quick has been decent to open the season for the Kings, posting a 6-3-0 record and 2.89 GAA. His inconsistent play is a bit troublesome but the winning record is hard to argue with. Quick is still the top goalie in Los Angeles and should continue to be considered a No. 2 Fantasy option. The Kings TG is also a No. 2 Fantasy unit.

Analysis: While Quick has five wins on the season, he has been either really good in net or really bad. The Kings TG is also a No. 2 option.

The Kings are 4-1 on the season and will be a force to be reckoned with in the Western Conference if they can keep this up. Quick is certainly worth a shot as a No. 2 Fantasy goalie in deeper formats right now, while the Kings TG is also a No. 2 option.

The Kings TG is also a No. 2 Fantasy option.

Analysis: Quick has won consecutive starts after losing in the opener against Phoenix. While Quick has two wins, he hasn't been overly impressive. He has allowed three or more goals in each outing and needed a great offensive effort from his teammates to bail him out in the two wins. It's great to see L.A. scoring goals in 2009-10. However, Quick needs to shore up his game to be more than a No. 2 Fantasy option. The Kings TG is also a No. 2 option.

Analysis: Quick gave up six goals in his first start and took the loss against Phoenix. Not a great beginning to the season for Quick, as Phoenix is expected to be one of the worst teams in the league, but he made up for that with a win on Tuesday. He will likely be the favorite to be the team's starter in training camp but prospect Jonathan Bernier could creep up on him. Be sure to manage Quick's progression in the offseason before taking a flier on him for Draft Day next season. The Kings TG was a decent No. 2 option since Quick got between the pipes.

With Anze Kopitar in the penalty box for holding Mats Sundin behind the net, Kesler -- honored as the Canucks' MVP in a ceremony before the game -- banged in a rebound of a hard shot from Sundin at the top of the faceoff circle. Quick made 27 saves in the tight loss.
Analysis: Quick has allowed just one goal in three straight outings, winning his previous two. He has pretty much been a solid force in net for Los Angeles since January despite the fact he hasn't always received a ton of offensive support. Quick will likely go into training camp with a leg up on the competition, but it will be interesting to see how prospect Jonathan Bernier performs. Track Quick's offseason progress before taking a flier on him Draft Day 2009. The Kings TG has been a nice No. 2 Fantasy option in the second half.

Analysis: Quick is winless in three starts and 1-5-1 in his last seven outings. He has allowed two or fewer goals in four of those outings, but the Kings have struggled for the last few weeks and the offensive support hasn't been there. Quick still passes as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option, as is the Kings TG.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 32 saves during a 3-2 loss to the Stars Monday. Brendan Morrison helped Dallas regain the lead at 1:55 of the second period with his first goal. With Kyle Calder off for holding, Morrison scored on a one-timer to give the Stars the 2-1 lead. He struck again at 14:41 when Matt Niskanen found him just above the left faceoff dot. Morrison's shot went in off the post, and Quick barely moved before realizing that the puck was past him. Quick stopped all 10 shots he faced in the third, but the damage was already done.
Analysis: Quick is 1-4-1 in his last six outings. He has allowed two or fewer goals in half of those appearances, but the Kings have struggled for the last few weeks and the offensive support hasn't been there. Quick still passes as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option, as is the Kings TG.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick allowed four goals and made 24 saves in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Predators. He has now lost four of five contests. The loss comes one game after shutting out the Stars on Thursday.
Analysis: Quick could have been a bit gassed after shutting out the Stars through overtime and a shootout period on Thursday. He has not been as good as he had been in recent weeks, losing four of his last five contests. However, he can still be used as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option. The Kings TG is also a low-end No. 2 unit.
News: Los Angeles G Jonathan Quick did not allow a goal in the first 65 minutes of hockey against the Stars on Thursday. It wasn't enough to get the win as he was met save for save by Marty Turco who also took a shutout 65 minutes into Thursday's game. Quick stopped two out of the three shots he faced in the shootout and Turco only stopped one as Quick got the 1-0 shootout win.
Analysis: It's pretty rare in this day and age to see two goalies pitch a shutout in the same game. Quick was fortunate enough to come away with the win when really both goalies deserved it. Quick has now won five of his last six starts and can be thought of as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The same goes for the Kings TG.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 21 saves during a 2-0 loss to the Blues Tuesday. Quick battled Chris Mason to a scoreless tie until Patrik Berglund scored twice in the third period. Berglund, limited to two assists the previous 10 games, got the first two-goal game of his career. The biggest came on a tap-in at 7:56 of the third when David Perron's drive from the left side missed everything and rebounded right to his stick. He twice swatted a puck loose in the crease after T.J. Oshie's shot trickled through Quick, converting on the second attempt for his 19th of the season at 13:13. Quick said the shot also deflected off a player in front of the net. "I believe it hit a chest, arm, something up there," Quick said. "I just lost the puck in the jersey and it must have fallen behind me."
Analysis: Quick has dropped three straight starts and four of five. The Kings' playoff bubble seems to be bursting and Quick is suffering in net. It's not to say it has been all his fault since he has allowed two goals in four of his last six outings. The Kings offense has once again stalled and left Quick out to dry. He still starts most nights in net for L.A., but Quick has to be considered at best a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The same goes for the Kings TG.
News: Log Angeles goalie Jonathan Quick made 28 saves during a 4-1 loss to the Blackhawks Sunday, as Chicago dominated for most of the game and outshot the Kings 32-15. Quick never led in the game and Los Angeles didn't crack the scoreboard until 16:54 into the third. Quick only allowed two goals as Chicago netted a pair of empty netters.
Analysis: Quick has lost three of his last four starts, but it hasn't entirely been his fault. The Kings haven't been outstanding on offense, so they aren't giving Quick much support. Quick has been a plesant surprise for Los Angeles since his recall in December and has emerged as the team's starting goalie. He remains a low-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie, while the Kings TG is at best a No. 2 option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 22 saves during a 4-1 loss to the Penguins Friday. He never led in the game and Los Angeles didn't even crack the scoreboard until they were down four goals in the third.
Analysis: Quick has only lost two of his last six starts and has beaten the likes of Boston, Vancouver, Minnesota and Dallas. It's not like he has been awful. Quick has been a plesant surprise for Los Angeles since his recall in December and has emerged as the team's starting goalie. He remains a low-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie, while the Kings TG is at best a No. 2 option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick allowed two goals and made 24 saves in a 3-2 overtime win over the Bruins on Thursday. It was Quick's fourth win in his last five games as his record on the season improved to 17-12-1.
Analysis: Quick has simply been much better than expected since taking over in net for the Kings. He has managed a winning record and lowered his already respectable 2.65 GAA on Thursday by allowing only two goals. He remains a low-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie while the Kings TG is at best a No. 2 option.
News:Henrik Sedin scored twice in a 30-second span past Jonathan Quick midway through a wild third period, and the Vancouver Canucks beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-2 on Friday. Sedin's outburst came less than a minute and a half after the Kings tied it on goals by Alexander Frolov and Anze Kopitar 26 seconds apart, the later on a harmless wrist shot off the left boards during a 3-on-2 rush. Quick finished with 28 saves for the Kings, who hadn't played since their win over Vancouver on Monday. Quick only needed 20 saves to beat the Canucks that night, but saw that many shots in the first period alone on Friday.
Analysis: The loss Friday snapped a three-game winning streak for Quick, who is 16-12-1 on the season. He has been a better than expected addition in net for Los Angeles and has emerged as a viable low-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Kings TG is also at best a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 20 saves during a 3-2 win against the Canucks Monday. Quick never trailed in the game and carried a 2-0 lead into the second period. Alexandre Burrows broke up the shutout 4:40 into the second and Taylor Pyatt made it close at 3-2 early in the third, but Quick survived a 10-shot third to win a third straight start.
Analysis: Quick endured a three-game losing streak before running off his current winning streak and it appeared he was losing his grip in net. Whatever coach Terry Murray said to Quick seems to have riled him up. Quick remains the Kings' starting goalie and worth a look as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Kings TG is also at best a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 21 saves during a 4-3 win against the Wild Saturday. Quick blew two one-goal leads in the first period before shutting out Minnesota on five shots in the second period. Eric Belanger scored 4:43 into the third to cut the lead to 4-3, but Quick held on for his second straight win, but first in four starts. Quick earned a relief win Thursday against the Stars.
Analysis: Quick has won all three of his starts this season against the Wild and has allowed just six goals total. Too bad he can't play Minnesota every night. Despite his recent slide, Quick has been very strong in net for Los Angeles and that has prompted coach Terry Murray to turn to him as the starter. Quick still remains more of a low-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Kings TG is also more of a No. 2 option as well.
News: Kings goalie Jonathan Quick replaced an ineffective Erik Ersberg after two periods Thursday and ended up with a victory as Los Angeles rallied for a 5-4 overtime win. Ersberg blanked the Stars on six shots in the first period before giving up four goals on 13 shots in the second. He was replaced by Quick to begin the third after making 15 saves. Quick trailed 4-2 with less than four minutes to play, but Los Angles scored twice, which included the game-tying goal from Anze Kopitar with 14 seconds left. Michal Handzus scored his third goal of the game at 1:31 of overtime to cap the comeback. Quick made four saves in the easy relief win.
Analysis: Quick really needed a pick-me-up after losing three straight games and four of five. Hopefully, Thursday's relief win will spark him back on the right track. He has emerged as the Kings' top goalie, but Quick still remains more of a low-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Kings TG is also more of a No. 2 option as well.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 20 saves during a 5-4 loss to the Blue Jackets Tuesday. Quick battled back from a 3-1 deficit as Los Angeles eventually took a 4-3 lead 14:14 into the second. But Jiri Novotny tied the game at 17:18 of the second and Manny Malhotra's second goal at 10:16 of the third sealed the win for Columbus. Quick has lost three straight starts and four of his last five.
Analysis: The magic is starting to wear off a bit for Quick after he was such a hot commodity for Los Angeles from early January to mid-February. We figured this would happen as Los Angeles just didn't have as much firepower as some of the other elite teams in the Western Conference. Coach Terry Murray isn't ready to pull the plug on Quick, but he still remains more of a low-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Kings TG is also more of a No. 2 option as well.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 34 saves against the Blackhawks on Sunday but allowed four goals to get past him in a 4-2 loss. The loss drops Quick's overall record on the season to 13-10-1. He was boasting a 2.49 GAA before the game, a number which took a small hike thanks to giving up four goals.
Analysis: Quick has now lost two straight to two of the better teams in the Western Conference in the Red Wings and the Blackhawks. He has been an excellent addition to the Kings' roster this season and can now be considered a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Kings TG can also be used as a No. 2 option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 39 saves during a 2-1 loss to the Red Wings Friday. Quick battled Chris Osgood to a scoreless first period before Derek Meech opened the scoring 12:08 into the second. Tomas Kopecky made it 2-0 1:43 into the third period when he beat Quick on a one-timer from along the goal line. Kopecky took a short pass from Valtteri Filppula after Quick misplayed the puck behind the net. Quick has exchanged wins and losses for his last four starts.
Analysis: Quick did pretty well in net against the highest-scoring team in the NHL Friday, but just couldn't get any offensive support. Quick continues to turn in solid efforts and has won the starting job in Los Angeles. He is worth a look as a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Kings TG is also a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick allowed just a shootout goal to Antti Miettinen among four skaters and stopped 23 shots during a 2-1 win Tuesday. Drew Doughty scored the go-ahead shootout goal in the fourth round before Quick stopped Brent Burns to seal the win. Miettinen also got the Wild's lone regulation goal, short-handed 5:48 into the second. Quick has won two of his last three starts.
Analysis: Quick allowed five goals in a loss to the Coyotes Saturday, but he has had very few poor outings since being named the Kings' unquestioned starter in late January. Quick has emerged as a decent No. 2 Fantasy goalie since Los Angeles is in the playoff hunt. The Kings TG can also be considered a No. 2 option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick gave up five goals and made 23 saves in a 6-3 loss to the Coyotes on Saturday. He was mostly foiled by the Coyotes' Olli Jokinen who had a hat trick in the game, with one of the goals coming with an empty net.
Analysis: Quick has now lost three of his last four decisions and is coming back to earth after a solid start to his season with the Kings. He still has a slender GAA, but the Kings just aren't that good as a team. He remains only a low-end No. 2 option and the Kings TG is about the same.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick was able to pick up a victory over the Ducks on Wednesday, making 28 saves and giving up three goals in a 4-3 win. He improved to 12-7-1 overall on the season and snapped a two-game losing streak. He was also pulled in his last start after facing only seven shots and allowing three goals.
Analysis: Quick has not played that badly of late, but the results weren't there. He wasn't great against the Ducks but was able to get the win. Go figure. Quick has locked down the starting job although he could eventually lose some starts to Erik Ersberg. For now, he's a low-end No. 2 option and the same goes for the Kings TG.
News: Kings G Erik Ersberg had a solid relief appearance Monday against the Thrashers in place of Jonathan Quick, but it wasn't enough as Erik Christensen's winner in the fourth round of the shootout sealed the 7-6 win for Atlanta. Quick started the game but only lasted 7:41 as he surrendered three goals on seven shots and trailed 3-0. Los Angeles would trail by three goals three times, including 6-3 in the third period. But then Los Angeles scored the final three goals of the game, including with five seconds left, to send the game into overtime. Ersberg allowed Slava Kozlov to tie the shootout at 1 before Christensen sank the game winner two shooters later. Ersberg made 17 saves in the relief loss.
Analysis: Quick is winless in his last three outings, but coming into Monday, he had allowed just three goals in his previous two starts. It's not like he has been awful for a long period of time. He has been quite solid in net for Los Angeles and just had a slip up. Ersberg could get into the picture and swipe some starts from Quick, but it's likely going to take a lot more than one bad outing for coach Terry Murray to lose faith in his goalie. Consider Quick a low-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Kings TG is also a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Kings G Jonathan quick allowed shootout goals to Sam Gagner and Robert Nilsson, taking a 3-2 shootout loss against the Oilers on Saturday. Quick make 19 saves in the game and has now lost back to back games after stringing together a four-game winning streak.
Analysis: Quick did play well enough the past two games to have won both of the games, but the Kings offense simply didn't back him up enough to get the win. It was Quick's first overtime loss on Saturday as his record falls to 11-7-1 on the season. Quick doesn't necessarily have the hot hand right now but can be considered a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Kings TG is also a No. 2 option at the moment.
News:Miikka Kiprusoff made 36 saves, and Michael Cammalleri scored on a power play in the first period past Jonathan Quick in the Calgary Flames' 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday. Rene Bourque scored his 19th goal after Los Angeles pulled Quick for an extra attacker with 1:10 remaining in the third. Quick made 18 saves as his four-game winning streak came to an end.
Analysis: Quick played well enough Thursday to keep his win streak alive, but was just outdueled by one of the league's premier goalies. Coach Terry Murray continues to lean on Quick since he has the hot hand, so consider him a decent No. 2 Fantasy goalie for the time being. The Kings TG is also a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick stopped all three skaters he faced in the shootout and picked up the win after Jack Johnson scored on the final shootout attempt in a 4-3 victory against the Islanders Tuesday. Quick, who started his eight straight game, turned aside 22 shots and rallied back from a 3-2 deficit. Quick blanked the Islanders in the third period and stopped the last seven shots he faced.
Analysis: Quick has won his first four starts in February and seven of eight. He has been rock solid in net for the Kings and has currently ripped the starting job away from Erik Ersberg. Consider adding Quick in larger Fantasy leagues and treating him as a No. 2 goalie. The Kings are surprisingly in the thick of a playoff race. The Kings TG remains a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: The NHL announced their Three Stars for the Week of Feb. 2-8 with Kings goalie Jonathan Quick taking home the honors as the First Star. Red Wings forward Marian Hossa was the Second Star and Capitals defenseman Mike Green was the Third Star.
Analysis: Quick earned the top NHL honors after lifting Los Angeles to road wins over Ottawa, Washington and New Jersey. He stopped 95 of 100 shots in the process. The 23-year-old Milford, Conn. native improved his season record to 10-6-0 with a 2.38 goals-against average and .920 save percentage in 18 games. He ranks third among NHL rookie goaltenders in victories behind Steve Mason of Columbus (19) and Pekka Rinne of Nashville (14). Quick has stolen the show in net for Los Angeles and has emerged as a viable low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 Fantasy goalie. The Kings TG remains a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick picked up another win against a quality opponent on the road on Saturday, making 25 saves and allowing only one goal in a 3-1 win over the Devils. Quick has now won three straight all on the road and six of his last seven starts.
Analysis: Not all of Quick's wins have been pretty with a couple of the wins coming with four or more goals against. He is quickly improving his Fantasy stock and is a higher-end No. 3 goalie for the time being. The Kings TG can at best be considered a No. 2 unit.
News: Despite allowing Alex Ovechkin's 200th career goal, Kings goalie Jonathan Quick held off a late Washington attack during a 5-4 win Thursday. Quick carried a 4-2 lead into the third period before Ovechkin pulled Washington within one at 10:32. Kyle Calder then got the decisive goal at 18:27 as Quick made 41 saves in the win. The rookie has one five of his last six starts.
Analysis: Quick has allowed four or more goals in four of his last seven starts, but Los Angeles is playing solid hockey all-around while he is in net so the Kings continue to ride the hot glove. Erik Ersberg is recovered from a knee strain, but why mess with team chemistry? Quick remains a No. 3 Fantasy goalie for the time being. The Kings TG is at best a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News:Michal Handzus scored in the third period, Jonathan Quick made 29 saves to record his third shutout of the season and the Los Angeles Kings ruined Cory Clouston's first game as Ottawa's coach with a 1-0 victory over the Senators on Tuesday night. Quick improved to 4-1-0 in his last five starts after facing the Senators for the first time this season.
Analysis: Quick has allowed four or more goals in two of his last five starts, but Los Angeles is playing solid hockey all-around while he is in net so the Kings continue to ride the hot glove. Erik Ersberg is recovered from a knee strain, but why mess with team chemistry? Quick remains a No. 3 Fantasy goalie for the time being. The Kings TG is at best a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick gave up four goals and made 22 saves in a 4-3 loss to the Canadiens on Saturday. The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for Quick going back to before the All-Star break. Quick's overall record on the season is 7-6-0.
Analysis: Quick's three-game winning streak wasn't all that impressive considering he allowed nine total goals during the streak. The Kings have been putting the puck in the net of late, scoring at least three goals in the team's last four games. Quick has been pretty good for the Kings but is only a low-end option at the moment. The Kings TG is at best a No. 2 unit.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick made 31 saves during a 5-2 win against the Blackhawks Thursday. Quick made 15 of his 31 saves in the second period when Los Angeles took a 3-0 lead. Quick earned his first NHL point with an assist on Patrick O'Sullivan's fourth career short-handed goal at 5:26 of the second period. Dave Bolland then spoiled Quick's shutout 7:31 into the third period.
Analysis: Quick has won his last three starts and temporarily has nailed down the starting job since Erik Erbserg is still recovering from a lower-body injury. Los Angeles will likely ride Quick's hot hand until he cools off. Consider him more of a low-end Fantasy option until further notice. The Kings TG is at best a No. 2 Fantasy flier.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick gave up five goals to the Avalanche on Wednesday and made 36 saves in a 6-5 victory on Wednesday. After going up 6-2 earlier in the game, Quick allowed three unanswered in the final 21 minutes of the game but ended up hanging on to get the win. Quick improves to 6-5 on the season since getting called up in mid-December.
Analysis: Quick continues to falter over the past few weeks and Wednesday's performance does little to change that as he gave up five goals in the win. Quick has allowed four or more goals in three of his last five games as the Kings head into the All-Star break. He remains a No. 2 option and so is the Kings TG.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick stopped 25 shots during a 5-2 win Tuesday against the Wild. Quick allowed just a pair of power-play goals before shutting out the Wild on 13 shots in the third period. It was his first win in four appearances.
Analysis: Quick really needed a strong performance after looking pretty weak over the last two weeks. He is the starter for the time being as Erik Ersberg battles another injury. But the duo still could split starts in the second half once Ersberg is healthy. Consider Quick nothing more than a reserve Fantasy goalie and flier in leagues that use average points per game. The Kings TG is at best a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News:The Sports Xchange reports after a handful of recent eyebrow-raising efforts, the Kings finally got a good game in goal as Erik Ersberg stopped 32 of 34 shots and held up well against some significant pressure in the second half of the game Saturday against the Stars. Ersberg, a second-year goalie who has been splitting time with rookie Jonathan Quick, was coming off what was arguably his worst start of the season, when he allowed three goals in 26 minutes and got pulled in a loss to Tampa Bay Monday. The Kings face back-to-back games this week against Minnesota (Tuesday) and Colorado (Wednesday), and Ersberg and Quick are expected to split the games.
Analysis: Coach Terry Murray has been pretty much splitting starts over the last few weeks between the two goalies as he tries to gauge who his starter might be in the second half. Neither goalie really separated himself, so the tandem could continue into February. Either way, both Ersberg and Quick are low-end Fantasy options. The Kings TG is at best a No. 2 option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick was victimized by the Red Wings on Thursday, giving up four goals as he watched Ty Conklin block every shot that came his way on the other end in a 4-0 shutout loss. Quick did make 27 saves in the game but has now allowed nine goals in his last two starts, losing both games.
Analysis: Quick did have a nice relief appearance against the Lightning after Erik Ersberg was lit up by Tampa Bay. Ersberg and Quick are likely to continue splitting time between the pipes until one of the two emerges as the top dog in Los Angeles. Until that happens, think of Quick as a No. 3 option and the Kings TG as a low-end option.
News: Kings G Erik Ersberg couldn't figure out the Lightning Monday and was pulled in the second period of a 3-1 loss. Ersberg made just four saves on seven shots before getting run from the game after Vincent Lecavalier's goal 5:48 into the second frame. Jonathan Quick came onto replace Ersberg and stopped all 15 shots he faced.
Analysis: Quick rebounded nicely Monday after allowing five goals in a loss Saturday against the Devils. He continues to battle Ersberg for the starting job, but coach Terry Murray intends to split time between the duo for the time being. Quick remains a No. 3 Fantasy goalie and flier in leagues that use average points per game.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick was on a two-game winning streak and had allowed four total goals in those two games. Not any more. Quick allowed five goals to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night and fell 5-1. Quick made 23 saves in the game on 28 shots.
Analysis: Quick falls to .500 with the loss at 4-4-0 on the year. Quick has allowed more than two goals just three times in nine appearances since his recall in late December. Coach Terry Murray said he will use both Quick and Erik Ersberg in net until the tandem no longer works for the Kings. Both Ersberg and Quick are low-end Fantasy options until one of them emerges from the pack and Quick didn't make a good argument for that on Saturday. The Kings TG is at best a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick stopped 24 shots during a 4-3 win Thursday against the Ducks. Los Angeles jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Bobby Ryan netted his first career hat trick to tie the game. Quick picked up the win after Alexander Frolov scored the go-ahead goal 7:43 into the third period. Quick has won four of his last six starts.
Analysis: Quick has allowed more than two goals just twice in eight appearances since his recall in late December. Coach Terry Murray said he will use both Quick and Erik Ersberg in net until the tandem no longer works for the Kings. Both Ersberg and Quick are low-end Fantasy options until one of them emerges from the pack. The Kings TG is at best a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick didn't start Tuesday's game against the Ducks because of a throat infection, but was still well enough to dress as the team's backup.
Analysis: Quick saw Erik Ersberg make his first start since Dec. 15 Tuesday. Ersberg had been out with a groin injury, but now that he is back, the two goalies are going to share time in net. Both Ersberg and Quick are low-end Fantasy options until one of them emerges from the pack.
News: For better or worse, there's now nothing standing in the way of Kings goalies Erik Ersberg and Jonathan Quick except each other. Ersberg no longer has to split time with Jason LaBarbera, and Quick no longer has the shadow of Jonathan Bernier. The Kings traded LaBarbera, whom they had anointed as their No. 1 goalie in training camp, to Vancouver for a seventh-round draft pick last week, leaving Ersberg and Quick, two rookies, to carry the way for the rest of the season. The two goalies had combined for only 36 NHL starts before Saturday, but Ersberg has been strong in stretches and Quick continued his recent masterful play Saturday when he allowed only one goal in a 2-1 shootout win over Philadelphia.
Analysis: Quick has allowed two or fewer goals in five consecutive starts and has allowed 11 goals in 19 periods this season. Ersberg has a 2.38 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage in 18 games this season. "It's a great situation for those young guys right now, and both goalies will play," coach Terry Murray said. "We have (eight more) games before the All-Star break, and as we move through the rest of the year, with the travel and the schedule the way it is, both guys are going to play. They will complement each other and support each other and become a good tandem." While the Kings are happy with their goalie situation, Fantasy owners are not since we don't know which goalie is going to start on a nightly basis. Both Ersberg and Quick are low-end Fantasy options until one of them emerges from the pack. The Kings TG still remains a low-end option as well.
News: Still playing without G Erik Ersberg and after trading Jason LaBarbera, the Kings didn't need either on Saturday night against the Flyers. Goalie Jonathan Quick stopped 31 of 32 shots through regulation and overtime but his teammates couldn't win in that span as a shootout was needed. Quick stopped all comers in the shootout to earn the victory for the Kings, 2-1.
Analysis: Quick has been starting of late for Ersberg but the team's No. 1 is ready to return shortly. Quick is 2-2 over his last four games in regulation but both those losses were excellently defended games by the netminder. He's been pretty good in net and he could definitely split time with Ersberg upon his return. Quick remains a stopgap Fantasy option. The Kings TG is still a low-end Fantasy option.
News: The Canucks, still missing top goalie Roberto Luongo, added some netminder insurance by acquiring Jason LaBarbera from the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night for a seventh-round pick in the 2009 draft. Labarbera will join Curtis Sanford and rookie Cory Schneider, who have been sharing goaltending duties since Luongo was placed on the injured list Nov. 23 because of a groin injury. Luongo resumed skating on his own Tuesday, but isn't expected to be ready for game action for at least three weeks.
Analysis: The 28-year-old Labarbera went 5-8-4 with a 2.83 goals-against average, an .893 save percentage and two shutouts in 18 games with the Kings this season. The British Columbia native became expendable to Los Angeles because of the improved play by Jonathan Quick, who recorded a pair of shutouts last week. Labarbera, selected by the New York Rangers in the third round of the 1998 draft, is 34-42-8 with a 3.00 goals-against average, .901 save percentage and four shutouts in 98 NHL games. He is expected to join the Canucks in Nashville, where they are scheduled to play the Predators on Thursday. The move means Los Angeles will use Quick and Erik Ersberg, who is set to return from a groin injury, in net.
News: In a matchup of talented young goalies, Kings goalie Jonathan Quick stopped 22 shots as he tried to shut out the Blue Jackets for the second time in a week, but fell short as Columbus rookie Steve Mason made 24 saves in a 2-0 shutout of Los Angeles Monday. Quick was drafted in the third round in 2005. Mason went in the third round the following year.
Analysis: Quick has been outstanding since his recall in December when Erik Ersberg hurt his groin. Ersberg is due back within the week and coach Terry Murray will then have some decisions to make. There is a situation where Quick stays in the NHL and splits time with Ersberg, but nothing has been decided. For the time being, Quick remains a stopgap Fantasy option. The Kings TG is still a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick is quickly gaining recognition in the NHL as he has now recorded his second shutout in his past three games, blanking the Coyotes 4-0 on Saturday in Phoenix while making 26 saves. Quick has been excellent in five starts this season with two shutouts and two games in which he gave up one and two goals. He had one blip against the Red Wings where he gave up five to the champs.
Analysis: If Quick continues to play this well, it will be hard for the Kings to send him back down, but we think it's eventually going to happen when Erik Ersberg returns from a groin injury. Quick is a strong keeper option in long-term leagues and could be considered a flier for the upcoming period in leagues that use averages.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick, who shut out the Blue Jackets in his last outing, played well again Friday in a 2-1 loss to the Coyotes. Quick made 24 saves in defeat.
Analysis: Quick is a promising young goaltender in L.A., but he's only up in the NHL right now while Erik Ersberg deals with a groin problem. Quick remains a decent keeper option, but should not be used in seasonal formats. The Kings TG remains a low-end No. 2 option at best.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick recorded a shutout in his second start of the season for the Kings, recording 24 saves in the 3-0 win. In his first start of the year three days prior, Quick was lit up, allowing five goals to score. "Our penalty kill and our defense played excellent all game long," said Quick, who got the start in relief of Jason LaBarbera because Erik Ersberg was out with a groin injury. "They limited their chances. They cleared rebounds, they picked up sticks in front. They took care of most of the work for me so it made it a bit easier."
Analysis: This shutout may get a few Fantasy owners to have knee-jerk reactions and try to pick Quick up off of waivers, but be cautious because Quick is likely back in the minors once Ersberg returns. He is a flier option in leagues that use averages, but that's all for now. The Kings TG remains a low-end option.
News: Kings G Jonathan Quick gave up five goals in his season debut for the Kings Saturday against the Red Wings. He made 30 saves in the game, but allowed two late third period goals by the Wings which ended up being the difference in the game.
Analysis: Quick was 1-2-0 with a 3.83 GAA and .855 save percentage for the Kings last year in only a few appearances. He doesn't look too impressive in his second appearance of the season and first start, so leave him on waivers for now as he has hardly and appeal in Fantasy.
News: Kings G Jason LaBarbera made 11 saves in a little over two periods of action, and dropped to 0-2-2 in his last four starts during Friday's 5-0 loss to the Sabres. He was replaced by Jonathan Quick after Drew Stafford made it 4-0 just three minutes into the third period with a power-play goal on a backhand from the slot. Quick allowed a goal on eight shots in relief. "We didn't play bad, just nothing went right for us," LaBarbera said. "We got absolutely no bounces around their net."
Analysis: Quick was 1-2-0 with a 3.83 GAA and .855 save percentage in limited work last season for the Kings. He will get some starts in net with Erik Ersberg out with a groin injury, but he is likely headed back to the minors in the coming weeks. He has marginal Fantasy appeal at this time.
News: The L.A. Daily News reports that Kings G Jonathan Quick will be recalled Tuesday to cover for Erik Ersberg, who has a groin injury.
Analysis: Quick will just back up Jason LaBarbera in Los Angeles, so continue to ignore him for the time being.
News: Kings rookie goalie Jonathan Quick got the start at Dallas Thursday in his third NHL appearance. He gave up four goals on 18 shots before he was replaced by Jean-Sebastien Aubin at 14:56 of the second period. "He was starting to think too much," Kings coach Marc Crawford said of Quick. "I had to get him out of there. But he's a young goalie." Kings No. 1 G Jason LaBarbera is with the team but is limited by a rib injury.
Analysis: Aubin made 10 saves, without letting any pucks by him in relief. Quick, meanwhile, has allowed nine goals, while making just 54 saves in three games. There is a good chance that Quick is returned to the minors as soon as Jason LaBarbera is healthy. Quick is nothing more than a No. 3 Fantasy goalie or someone to use in leagues that have average points per game while in the pros. Aubin is merely a low-end Fantasy flier for leagues that use average points per game.
News:Jean-Sebastien Aubin started in goal for the Kings Wednesday against the Blackhawks, but was replaced by Jonathan Quick late in the first period after allowing three goals on nine shots. Quick permitted three goals on 26 shots. The Kings lost 6-3.
Analysis: Quick made just his second NHL appearance Wednesday. He won his first start on Dec. 6 against the Sabres. There is a good chance that Quick is returned to the minors as soon as Jason LaBarbera is healthy. Quick is nothing more than a No. 3 Fantasy goalie or someone to use in leagues that have average points per game while in the pros.
News: The Los Angeles Kings' sputtering offense needed a quick fix. Dustin Brown, Anze Kopitar and defenseman Tom Preissing helped provide it, making goalie Jonathan Quick's NHL debut an absolute breeze Thursday against Buffalo. Quick, pressed into service because of injuries to Jason LaBarbera and Jean-Sebastien Aubin, made 15 saves and was staked to a 7-0 lead by the 11:07 mark of the second period. "It was just good timing that I happened to get in tonight," Quick said. "It was a lot easier with the support the team gave me and the way they played in front of me. It was a good game for me to start off my career with. It was a lot of fun."
Analysis: Quick, a third-round draft pick in 2005, is the ninth goalie the Kings have used since the start of last season. The list includes LaBarbera, Aubin, Jonathan Bernier, Mathieu Garon, Sean Burke, Dan Cloutier, Yutaka Fukufuji and Barry Brust. LaBarbera missed his third consecutive game because of a rib injury. Aubin, who couldn't go because of two sore groin muscles, served as Quick's backup. But the 21-year-old rookie didn't have any of his family on hand for the big event. Consider picking him up in larger Fantasy formats.
