Blues' Berglund Scores In Loss

News: Patrik Berglund scored his fourth goal of the year Saturday in a loss San Jose. He was plus-1 with two shots and two hits on the night.
Analysis: Patrik Berglund's offensive output has been disappointing this year with just 11 points in 32 games, although he has never been a big scorer. Regardless trade rumours surround the veteran Swede and how he responds could provide a boost to his owners.

Blues' Berglund Nabs Assist Saturday

News: Patrik Berglund picked up an assist Saturday in a win over Minnesota. He was plus-1 and took two shots.
Analysis: Patrik Berglund has really struggled offensively with just five points in 23 games. Although he has put 43 shots on net, and a few more goals should come his way, but he is not helping fantasy owners even in deep leagues.

Blues' Berglund Nets Two Points In Win

News: Patrik Berglund bagged a goal and an assist in Saturday's win over Washington.
Analysis: It's been a disappointing season for Patrik Berglund, who only has four points (two goals) in 16 games. The fact he isn't being used on the power play only makes matters worse, as fantasy owners must rely solely on even-strength production. Berglund has been playing better hockey of late, though, so he's one to keep an eye on. If he continues to produce on the second line, he could be worth a look in some deeper leagues.

Blues' Berglund Finds Twine Monday

News: Patrik Berglund notched his first goal of the season in Monday's 4-3 shootout win over the Rangers.
Analysis: Patrik Berglund has been on the outside looking in on the Blues top-six forward group this season, and his production (two points, minus-2 in 10 games) has reflected that. Even with the injury to T.J. Oshie (concussion), Berglund has been bumped down the Blues' depth chart by Jori Lehtera, who has looked great anchoring a second line with Vlad Tarasenko and Alex Steen. As long as he's seeing time in St. Louis' bottom six -- which could be for awhile -- the former 22-goal scorer's fantasy value will remain limited.

Blues' Berglund To Play Thursday

News: Patrik Berglund (upper body) will be back in the Blues' lineup Thursday, according to Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Analysis: Patrik Berglund sat out Saturday's game against Calgary. He should slot back onto a line with David Backes and TJ Oshie.

Blues' Berglund Practices

News: Patrik Berglund (upper body) participated in Monday's practice, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Patrik Berglund assumed his normal position between David Backes and T.J. Oshie, and should be good to go for Thursday's game against the Kings.

Blues' Berglund Likely Out Saturday

News: Patrik Berglund (upper body) wasn't on the ice for pregame warmups and looks unlikely to play Saturday versus the Flames, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: It was assumed Patrik Berglund would be available Saturday after taking part in the morning skate, but the training staff evidently had second thoughts about making the forward available. The upper-body injury does at least look to be minor, so for the moment, Berglund may only have to sit out for one game.

Blues' Berglund To Play Saturday

News: Patrik Berglund will be in the lineup Saturday against the Flames, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Patrik Berglund was held out of Friday's practice due to an upper-body injury, but it won't be serious enough to cost him any game action. He'll be penciled in as the Blues' top-line left wing, with David Backes and T.J. Oshie filling out the trio.

Blues Hold Berglund Out Of Practice

News: Patrik Berglund was held out of Friday's practice, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: It's possible the Blues are just giving Patrik Berglund a maintenance day following Thursday's season opener, but unless coach Ken Hitchcock indicates otherwise, there's probably nothing to see here. Berglund skated with David Backes and T.J. Oshie on the top line Thursday, finishing with no points and a minus-1 rating over 16:41 of ice time.

Blues' Berglund Suffers Skate Cut On Face

News: Patrik Berglund suffered a cut on his face caused by a skate Wednesday, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Patrik Berglund's cut didn't require stitches, meaning he shouldn't miss much time, if any, because of the injury. He signed a three-year extension with the Blues in the offseason, and is coming off a season where he scored 14 goals and assisted on 18 more over 78 games.

Blues Extend Berglund

News: The Blues signed Patrik Berglund (shoulder) to a three-year, $11.1 million contract extension Thursday.
Analysis: The center was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1, but was able to work out a deal before he got there. Patrik Berglund had a decent season in 2013-14, racking up 14 goals and 18 assists in 78 games, but his name has been floating around in trade talks recently, as the Blues are combing the market for an elite scoring forward. There's a good chance that re-signing him was just the first step in moving him as part of a package deal.

Shoulder Surgery Likely On Tap For Blues' Berglund

News: Patrik Berglund played with a severe shoulder injury during the postseason, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Patrik Berglund was in the press box for the first two games of the series and looked like a shell of himself after pushing for a return for the final four matches, posting a minus-7 rating and going without a point. Given that the shoulder injury is considered relatively severe, look for Berglund to undergo surgery in the offseason.

Berglund Returns To Blues' Lineup

News: Patrik Berglund (upper body) will suit up Monday against the Blackhawks, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The team will be without David Backes on Monday, so Patrik Berglund's return to the Blues' lineup couldn't happen at a better time as they try to open up a 3-0 cushion in their first-round playoff series against the Blackhawks.

Blues' Berglund (Upper Body) Out Saturday

News: Patrik Berglund (upper body) will not play in Saturday's Game 2 against the Blackhawks, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Patrik Berglund missed Game 1 with the upper-body injury, and it appears he'll now miss Game 2 as well. The team has not provided a target return date, but it remains possible that he could return to the ice later in the series.

Blues' Berglund Doubtful For Game 2

News: Patrik Berglund (upper body) is doubtful to play in Saturday's Game 2 matinee against the Blackhawks, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The versatile Swede -- who has played both at center and wing this season -- was also reported as "skating well and taking good shots" in the Blues' brief practice Friday. Fortunately for St. Louis, the absences of Patrik Berglund and T.J. Oshie, who also sat out Game 1 with an upper-body injury, were offset by the return of their 21-goal scorer Vladimir Tarasenko, playing in his first game since suffering a broken hand 15 games prior. It appears as though Oshie is closer to returning than Berglund, so while the Blues brass would no doubt like to see him back in action, their forward depth affords them the luxury to take their time with his ailment.

Blues' Berglund Confirmed Out For Game 1

News: Patrik Berglund (upper body) will not play in Game 1 of the Blues' first-round series against the Blackhawks, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Patrik Berglund hasn't been practicing in full over the last couple days, so he wasn't expected to return right away for Game 1. He can be viewed as day-to-day for the time being, but it wouldn't be overly shocking if he missed further games in the series.

Blues' Berglund Likely Out For Game 1

News: Patrik Berglund (upper body) is not expected to play in Game 1 of the Blues' first-rounds series against the Blackhawks, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Patrik Berglund was not on the ice during Tuesday's practice, and while the extent of his injury isn't fully known, it's thought to be serious enough to keep the center out for awhile. Coach Ken Hitchcock would only say that he expects all of his skaters to participate in at least one game of the series, but the ambiguity surrounding Berglund's situation probably makes him one to steer clear of in playoff pools.

Blues' Berglund (Upper Body) Out Sunday

News: Patrik Berglund (upper body) will miss Sunday's regular season finale, Jeremy Ruterford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Patrik Berglund will join seven others sitting out of Sunday's finale. The Blues have nothing significant to play for in the finale, but the question now becomes whether Berglund will be available for the Blues' first playoff contest.

Blues' Berglund Falls Victim To Injury Bug Friday

News: Patrik Berglund left Friday's game against the Stars with an apparent upper-body injury, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Patrik Berglund's injury appeared to be in the shoulder region. The Stars were playing a jayvee lineup to begin with due to injuries to several key players, so Berglund's ailment figures to further test the team's depth. The Blues are sputtering at precisely the wrong time of the season, and will need to get some of their key players like Berglund healthy with the playoffs approaching.

Blues' Berglund: Six Goals In Last Eight Games

News: Patrik Berglund scored two goals, including the game winner, in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Predators.
Analysis: He has six goals and one assist in his last eight games, but sadly, he has just 31 points, including 14 goals, in 64 games. He's talented, but frustrating to own because of his inconsistency. And at 25, Patrik Berglund's ceiling needs to be downgraded. He has six seasons under his belt, but he his best came in 2010-11.

Blues' Berglund Playing Saturday

News: Patrik Berglund (lower body) will play in Saturday's game against the Predators, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: A game-time decision, Patrik Berglund took the ice for warmups, and his presence in the lineup was confirmed shortly thereafter. Assuming he makes it through Saturday's game without incident, Berglund should escape from the injury without missing any games.

Blues' Berglund Questionable Saturday

News: Patrik Berglund (lower body) is questionable for Saturday against the Predators.
Analysis: Coach Ken Hitchcock said that Patrik Berglund was fine even after the center left Thursday's game in the third period with the injury. He took part in about 15 minutes of Friday's practice before heading off to the trainer's room. Consider him day-to-day still and a game-time decision Saturday.

Blues' Berglund Back On Ice Friday

News: Patrik Berglund (lower body) was back skating on the ice Friday, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: He skated for about 10 or 15 minutes before calling it a day. With coach Ken Hitchcock declaring after Thursday's game that Patrik Berglund was fine despite leaving in the third period, it would seem likely that he'll be available for Saturday's contest vs. Nashville.

Blues' Berglund Leaves Game Thursday

News: Patrik Berglund left in the third period of Thursday's 6-2 win and did not return after getting tangled up with the Oilers' Boyd Gordon. However, coach Ken Hitchcock said after the game that he "will be fine," reports Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Analysis: Patrik Berglund's leg was extended in a rather unnatural manner that had Blues fans holding their breath. Even if he was fit to return, the Blues likely held him back, as they had a sizeable lead at the time and the game was getting chippy. Look for an update prior to Saturday's road game against Nashville.

Blues' Berglund Suffers Minor Injury

News: Patrik Berglund suffered an undisclosed injury during Thursday's game, but Blues coach Ken Hitchock said that the 25-year-old forward should be fine and is considered day-to-day.
Analysis: While it sounds like Patrik Berglund should be able to play, fantasy owners may want to circle back before Saturday's game in Nashville. The 25-year-old has played in 63 out of a possible 66 games this season, with 12 goals and 17 assists to show for it.
