Stars' Goligoski Deemed OK After Missing Finale

News: Stars GM Jim Nill suggested Alex Goligoski, who missed last Saturday's season finale with an undisclosed injury, should be good to go heading into the offseason. "Goligoski, as far as we know, is OK," Nill said. "He was hurt very early in the season; he had some broken bones. First two months never practiced because he couldn't, but he played all the games."
Analysis: It sounds as though Alex Goligoski's absence for the season finale was more maintenance-related than anything, as Goligoski had a tough season on the health front, though nothing serious enough to cost him game action. With a full offseason to heal up, Goligoski should head into the 2015-16 feeling fresh and looking to rebound after his numbers dropped across the board this season.

Stars' Goligoski Likely To Miss Finale

News: Alex Goligoski (undisclosed) is not expected to play Saturday against the Predators.
Analysis: Alex Goligoski missed practice Friday with the injury and wasn't present for Saturday's gameday skate, which suggests the blueliner is due to miss his first contest of the season. The 29-year-old has been banged up all season, and it seems to have hindered his production, as he's seen both his total points (36 in 2014-15, 42 in 2013-14) and shot attempts (122, 141) decline from a year earlier.

Stars' Goligoski Misses Practice With Injury

News: Alex Goligoski missed Friday's practice with an undisclosed injury, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Alex Goligoski has often missed practice this season for maintenance-related reasons, but it's never resulted in him missing any action, as he's played in each of the Stars' previous 81 games. The odds likely favor him suiting him up for Saturday's season finale against the Predators, but the injury is nonetheless worth nothing for those who plan on using the blueliner in daily slates.

Stars' Goligoski Chips In Two Assists

News: Alex Goligoski racked up two assists in Saturday's win over Chicago.
Analysis: Alex Goligoski now has seven points in eight games after producing just three points in his previous 19 games. The 29-year-old, who sees second-unit power-play time, is now up to 33 points in 72 games on the season. While he may be inconsistent, Goligoski has established himself as a minute-munching defenseman who can contribute 30-40 points each season.

Stars' Goligoski Set To Play Thursday

News: Alex Goligoski (illness) is slated to play Thursday against the Penguins.
Analysis: Alex Goligoski missed Wednesday's practice with the illness, but as expected, he returned for the Stars' morning skate Thursday and looks safe to play. He's expected to slot in next to a new defensive partner in Jyrki Jokipakka during the game.

Stars' Goligoski Feeling Ill

News: Alex Goligoski missed Wednesday's practice due to an illness.
Analysis: The Stars don't seem to be overly concerned with Alex Goligoski's absence, as he's still expected to play Thursday against the Penguins. His availability for the contest should be confirmed following Thursday's morning skate.

Stars' Goligoski Stuffs Sheet In Win

News: Alex Goligoski scored a goal, added an assist, went plus-2, picked up two PIM and laid two hits in Thursday's road win over the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Goli's warmed to the task of late, with four points over his last four, but he'd need to get white-hot to even challenge last year's total of 42 points. Still, he's been a productive fourth defenseman for fantasy purposes.

Stars' Goligoski Records Goals In Win

News: Alex Goligoski netted his third goal of the season and picked up two PIM in Thursday's shootout win over the Panthers.
Analysis: Alex Goligoski's marker tied the game at three apiece with 12:21 remaining in the third period, before the Stars ultimately prevailed in the third round of the shootout. The Stars will be counting on Goligoski to raise his offensive game with 16-goal blueliner Trevor Daley scheduled to miss the next 2-to-4 weeks, but it's unclear if the 29-year-old has another gear in him. After tallying a career-best 42 points in 2013-14, Goligoski has seen his scoring regress a bit this season, mustering three goals and 24 assists over 65 games.

Goligoski Adds Assists, Big Minutes In Stars Win

News: Alex Goligoski had an assist and 28:24 of ice time in Wednesday's win over Boston.
Analysis: Alex Goligoski is putting up assists at the exact same rate as last season when he set a career high in assists and points. The goals are lagging behind a bit, though. He has only two on the season. That drop is part and parcel with the drop in shots this season. He averaged 1.74 shots per game last season and is down to 1.31 this season. That's a significant drop-off for a player whose career shooting percentage is 6.4 percent, a number he has been below the last three seasons.

Stars' Goligoski Tallies Two Points

News: Alex Goligoski finally scored his second goal of the season Thursday, and he tacked on an assist, a plus-1 rating and two PIM in a 5-3 loss to Dallas.
Analysis: Can't pin this one on Goli, that's for sure. He'd gone without a point in five straight, so this was a much-needed performance that solidifies his status as a solid mid-tier defenseman for fantasy purposes.

Stars' Goligoski Dishes Out Two Helpers In Win

News: Alex Goligoski finished with two assists and a plus-3 rating in 22:01 of ice time in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Alex Goligoski has racked up 22 assists on the season which slots in among the league leaders among defensemen. Despite the high totals, the 29-year-old's production has largely come in bunches as his last 18 contests have either ended with multi-point efforts (five times in that span) or off the scoresheet entirely.

Goligoski Plays Crucial Role In Stars' Win

News: Alex Goligoski dished out a pair of helpers -- one on the power play -- and blocked five shots in Tuesday's win over Ottawa.
Analysis: A strong effort from Goli, who'd gone without a point over his prior three outings. While he now has 21 points on the year (20 of them assists), offensive production has come only in fits and starts for the veteran blueliner lately. Over the last 15 games, he's only been on the scoresheet four times, but he's totaled eight assists in those four games, so he's maintained a deceptively solid scoring average despite his painful inconsistency.

Stars' Goligoski Picks Up Two Assists

News: Alex Goligoski was excellent Sunday, picking up two assists, dishing out four hits, blocking three shots, and recording a plus-3 rating in a loss to Chicago.
Analysis: Alex Goligoski has been playing very well of late, recording four assists and a plus-8 rating over his past three games. The 29-year-old now has 19 points (one goal) in 38 games on the season, to go with a plus-9 rating. While Goligoski has been inconsistent throughout the year, the Stars are 9-1-1 in their past 11 games, making the first pairing defenseman an appealing fantasy option. Although Goligoski's power-play time has been significantly reduced, he could still reach the 40-point barrier in 2014-15.

Stars' Goligoski Assists Twice, Goes Plus-3

News: Alex Goligoski finished with a plus-3 rating over his 23:05 of ice time Wednesday, collecting two assists along the way.
Analysis: Alex Goligoski has been playing through a lower-body injury for the last several weeks, and while it has yet to result in any missed games, it might bear some responsibility for the blueliner's disappointing play this season. While Wednesday's two-point showing was nice, he has just one goal on the campaign and had only compiled two measly assists over his previous eight contests.

Stars' Goligoski Adds Two Points In Win

News: Alex Goligoski dished out a pair of assists in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Oilers.
Analysis: Alex Goligoski had gone four consecutive without a point and now has 15 points through 32 games. The 29-year-old likely won't match his career-best output of 42 points from last season, but he should surpass the 30-point barrier.

News: Alex Goligoski was on the ice for Friday's practice, NHL.com's Mark Stepneski reports.

Stars' Goligoski Skips Two Straight Practices

News: Alex Goligoski was absent from practice for the second straight day Thursday, NHL.com's Mark Stepneski reports.
Analysis: Alex Goligoski's day off Wednesday was attributed to maintenance purposes, but it seems he could still be bothered by the lower-body injury that he sustained earlier this month. The Stars haven't indicated as much, but Goligoski is certainly worth keeping a close eye on heading into Saturday's tilt with the Devils.

Stars' Goligoski Notches Another Assist

News: Alex Goligoski had an assist and three shots in Saturday's win over Montreal.

Goligoski Notches Two Helpers, But Stars Lose

News: Alex Goligoski assisted on a pair of third-period goals in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Leafs.
Analysis: Apparently not slowed by the lower-body soreness that kept him out of practice Monday, he did his part in contributing to the Stars' comeback attempt, but they'd dug themselves into too deep a hole. While Goli's found twine just once this year, his 11 assists have him just shy of a 40-point pace.

Stars' Goligoski Expected To Play Tuesday

News: Alex Goligoski (lower body) is expected to play Tuesday against the Maple Leafs, Mark Masters of TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: The Stars held Alex Goligoski out of Monday's practice while he tended to the lower-body injury, but skated Tuesday morning to clear his availability for the game. The blueliner has endured a tough season but did finally break through for his first goal last week against the Wild.

News: Alex Goligoski missed Monday's practice with a lower body injury, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Alex Goligoski was dealing with some soreness in his lower body, and decided to sit out of practice Monday to try to heal up. Head coach Lindy Ruff said he is hopeful Goligoski will be ready to suit up Tuesday against the Maple Leafs, so keep an eye out for another update prior to puck drop.

News: Alex Goligoski missed Wednesday's practice due to an illness, NHL.com's Mark Stepneski reports.
Analysis: The expectation is that Alex Goligoski will be good to go in time for Friday's game with the Wild, but the Stars should relay further word if his illness is more severe than anticipated. The blueliner has yet to find twine in his 22 games this season.
