Sergei Kostitsyn Signs With KHL Team

News: Sergei Kostitsyn has signed a three-year deal to play with Avangard Omsk in the KHL, according to Ganadi Boguslavski of Sovetsky Sport.
Analysis: He's just 26, but he saw his offense drop off this past season after hitting the 50-point threshold in 2010-11. Drop him from all keeper rosters -- the KHL is just far too lucrative to leave behind.

Kostitsyn Waived By Preds

News: The Predators placed Sergei Kostitsyn on unconditional waivers Wednesday, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Meanwhile, according to his agent, Don Meehan, there is a good chance that Sergei Kostitsyn may play in the Kontinental Hockey League next year. Kostitsyn is coming off a season in which he recorded just 15 points on 46 games for the Preds.

Preds' Kostitsyn Dealing With MCL Issue

News: Sergei Kostitsyn is dealing with an MCL injury, Joshua Cooper of the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Sergei Kostitsyn -- who finished up the season with 15 points in 46 games -- should recover in about 2-4 weeks, so obviously his status for the 2013-14 season won't be impacted by the injury, provided he avoids any setbacks.

Predators' Kostitsyn Has Goal, Assist

News: Sergei Kostitsyn scored a goal and added an assist against the Oilers on Monday.
Analysis: Sergei Kostitsyn has had a rough season, even ending up a healthy scratch at one point. On the year, he has three goals and 13 points in 31 games.

Preds Sit Kostitsyn Tuesday

News: Sergei Kostitsyn will be a healthy scratch Tuesday against Columbus, Josh Cooper of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Though we don't expect that Sergei Kostitsyn will sit beyond Tuesday's game, he'll take a seat against the Blue Jackets as coach Barry Trotz holds the forward accountable for a line-changing gaffe he made Sunday against the Oilers.

Preds Could Scratch Kostitsyn Tuesday

News: Sergei Kostitsyn seems likely to be scratched for Tuesday's game at Columbus, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: This comes after Sergei Kostitsyn headed for a line change Sunday that created a two-on-one rush, resulting in an Oilers goal. Confirmation of his Tuesday status will come closer to game-time, but it's a situation that Kostitsyn owners in daily formats should note.

Preds' Kostitsyn Back In Business

News: Sergei Kostitsyn saw 14:57 worth of ice time in Saturday's game against the Sharks.
Analysis: Just an FYI for his owners, as Sergei Kostitsyn missed most of Thursday's practice with the stomach flu. Kostitsyn checks in with nine pints in 22 games to date.

Preds' Kostitsyn Misses Practice With Flu

News: Sergei Kostitsyn missed most of Thursday's practice with the stomach flu, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: No word on whether Sergei Kostitsyn will miss Saturday's game against the Sharks. Chance are good he'll be a game-time decision, so go with a healthier option if you have one. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Predators' Kostitsyn Notches Goal, Assist

News: Sergei Kostitsyn scored a goal and added an assist Monday against the Avalanche. He was also a plus-3 and had four shots on net.
Analysis: Sergei Kostitsyn only has two goals and six points on the season for a low-scoring Nashville team, which is concerning for fantasy owners.

Kostitsyn's Late Tally Helps Preds Knock Off Sharks

News: Sergei Kostitsyn drove home Nashville's only tally in regulation, then watched as Nashville netminder Pekka Rinne stoned the Sharks in the shootout as the Predators purloined a win Saturday, 2-1.
Analysis: This is his first tally of the season, but it doesn't put him far off the team lead (two goals, shared by three skaters). He and the rest of the Preds are off to a slow offensive start this season. While we expect him to pick up the pace (and at 1-2-3 after eight games, he could almost do that by accident), we don't expect a sudden explosion from him.

Preds' Kostitsyn Picks Up Two Helpers

News: Sergei Kostitsyn set up both Nashville goals in Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to Columbus.
Analysis: Interestingly enough, he didn't get a shot in the six-round shootout. His scoring pace was a bit off last year, but if he can return to his pace of 2010-11, he could bring you 31 points in 48 games. Maybe.

Preds' Kostitsyn Lighting Up KHL

News: Sergei Kostitsyn is enjoying great success playing in Russia while the NHL lockout drags on, recording 21 points (8G, 13A) in his last 17 games for Avangard Omsk of the KHL.
Analysis: It looks like Sergei Kostitsyn will have some very quality stats under his belt if and when NHL play resumes. He will undoubtedly resume his top-six role for the Preds once he returns.

Preds' Kostitsyn To Play In KHL During Lockout

News: Sergei Kostitsyn has signed with Avangard Omsk of the KHL for the duration of the NHL lockout, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Sergei Kostitsyn scored 43 points in 75 games last season and signed a two-year, $6 million deal with the Preds in July. He should return to a top-six role once NHL play resumes.

Preds Re-Sign Kostitsyn

News: Sergei Kostitsyn avoided arbitration by agreeing to a two-year, $6 million contract Monday, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Sergei Kostitsyn posted 43 points (17G, 26A) last year after leading the team in points (50) in 2010-11. Expect him to return to a top-six role next season.

Preds' Kostitsyn Elects Arbitration

News: Sergei Kostitsyn has elected salary arbitration, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Arbitration hearings will be held from July 20 through Aug. 4. Sergei Kostitsyn, 25, netted 17 goals and recorded 26 assists in 75 regular season games last year, and put up two points (1G, 1A) in the 2012 postseason.

S. Kostitsyn: Preds' Management Too Tough On Radulov, Brother

News: Sergei Kostitsyn, who is a free agent this summer, told a Belarus news outlet this week that Nashville management was too tough on teammates Alexander Radulov and his brother Andrei for breaking curfew during the playoffs, reports the Toronto Sun.
Analysis: You had to expect he'd take his brother's side, but players need to realize you can't say something to a news outlet in your home country and not expect it to spread like a wild fire. Expect young Sergei to be playing elsewhere, maybe even the KHL with his brother and buddy, Radulov, next season.

Kostitsyn Back For Game 5.

News: Sergei Kostitsyn (healthy scratch) is expected to be back on the ice for Monday's Game 5 against the Coyotes, The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Sergei Kostitsyn, who, along with teammate Alexander Radulov, was suspended for Game 3 due to violating a team rule and then sat out Game 4 due to a coach's decision, is expected to play in Game 5 on Monday. Head coach Barry Trotz has also indicated that he expects both players to play Monday, as the Predators face elimination.

Two Helpers For Predators' Kostitsyn

Two PPAs for S. Kostitsyn As Preds Edge Wings

News: Sergei Kostitsyn assisted on both of his brother Andrei's power-play goals as the Predators held off Detroit on Saturday, 3-2.
Analysis: If the first five games of Andrei Sergei Kostitsyn's tenure in Nashville are a good indication, you should expect solid productivity out of this sibling pairing. The one knock on Sergei is that anyone with a shooting percentage of 21.8% needs to fire away more often; he has just 78 SOGs all year, and has exceeded three shots in a game just once, way back in October.

Preds' Kostitsyn Continuing Strong Play

News: Sergei Kostitsyn posted an assist in Monday's win over Los Angeles, his fourth point in the last five games.
Analysis: Kostistyn has been surprisingly consistent the last month, with nine points this month. Soon to be 24 years old, Sergei Kostitsyn will be joined the next game by his brother, Andrei, acquired for a pittance by Nashville on Monday. Talent has never been an issue with Sergei, just consistency and motivation as he certainly fits the mold of an enigmatic forward.

Late Season Surge For Preds' Kostitsyn

News: Sergei Kostitsyn has 15 points (9G, 6A) in his last 17 games since the start of January.
Analysis: The Preds' coaching staff must be pulling their collective hair out these days, trying to get Sergei Kostitsyn to shoot the puck more, as he currently leads the entire NHL in shooting percentage (.246) but his paltry shot total of just 57 doesn't even land him in the top 300. Regardless, he continues to be a very effective point producer for the Preds, skating on the first line with Mike Fisher and Martin Erat.

S. Kostitsyn Is One Hot Pred In 2012

News: Sergei Kostitsyn scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's win over Chicago.
Analysis: The enigmatic winger hit the nitro switch when the calendar flipped to January and he has seven goals and four assists in 10 games. He's proven he cannot sustain this kind of output for long but we need to remember he's still just 24 years old. He may hit the 50-point mark again this season after all. Whatever happens, you need to take advantage of his hot play -- just be ready to park him on the pine at the first sign of a drought.

Kostitsyn Extends Streak For Preds

News: Sergei Kostitsyn's tally in Monday's win over the Islanders gives him a goal in three straight games.
Analysis: The enigmatic winger still is barely shooting the puck, with 11 goals on just 42 shots, certainly a boon for owners in leagues that count shooting percentage. His 23 points are in the mix for the team leaders in Nashville, but his production tends to come in bunches followed by stretches of sketchy play.

Hat Trick For Preds' Kostitsyn

News: Sergei Kostitsyn let the lamp three times, including picking up the game-winner, Sunday against Calgary.
Analysis: Despite the hat trick, Sergei Kostitsyn only has eight goals on the season, and 18 points in total. He has been struggling, and has shown no signs of turning things around leading up to this game.

Kostitsyn Scores For Nashville

News: Sergei Kostitsyn netted Nashville's only goal in Tuesday's loss to Washington, his first point since Dec. 8.
Analysis: Sergei Kostitsyn has just five goals on the season, but a closer look at his stat line reveals an even more intriguing number: Kostitsyn has 26 shots on goal in 27 games. His numbers and utter lack of shots do not make him an attractive addition to your roster, but he probably wasn't there anyway.
