Panthers Waive Plante

News: The Panthers waived Tyler Plante on Thursday with the intention of sending him to AHL San Antonio, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.

Panthers Waive Plante

News: Tyler Plante was waived by the Panthers on Thursday, the Sun-Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Tyler Plante struggled in the preseason giving up four goals, in just under 30 minutes of ice time, Tuesday against the Predators. With Plante being waived, rookie Jacob Markstrom will serve as the team's primary backup while Scott Clemmenson recovers from knee surgery. The expectation is that Plante will end up in San Antonio, should he clear waivers.

Plante In Mix For Backup Job

News: Tyler Plante will battle Jacob Markstrom for the backup goaltender spot during the remaining days of training camp, the Panthers' official site reports.
Analysis: Ultimately, it could be a short-lived tenure with the big club for either player as Scott Clemmensen is only expected to miss one month following minor knee surgery. Tyler Plante, a former second-round pick, may be deemed a better short-term backup for Jose Theodore as it seems unlikely that the No. 2 in Florida will get significant time during the early weeks of the season.

Panthers' Plante Sent to Rochester

News: Plante has been sent back to AHL Rochester, the Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Tomas Vokoun has looked solid throughout the preseason and backup Scott Clemmensen has cemented his place as Vokoun's No. 2, so there was no real need for Plante to stick on the final roster.
