Flyers' Giroux Strikes For Overtime Winner

News: Claude Giroux scored the overtime-winning goal and added an assist in Saturday's comeback win over Dallas.
Analysis: Claude Giroux struck in overtime on a power play, taking a pass from Mark Streit and blasting a one-timer past Kari Lehtonen to give the Flyers their first win of the season. Giroux now has two goals, three assists and an impressive 25 shots on goal through five games. The Flyers may struggle defensively, but that's none of your concern, as Giroux leads a lethal offensive attack in Philadelphia. Expect another point-per-game season from the 26-year-old center.

Flyers' Giroux Produces In Losing Effort

News: Claude Giroux picked up two assists and put a game-high seven shots on goal Tuesday in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Ducks.
Analysis: Claude Giroux's now got points in three straight since opening the season with a quiet game, though he's scored just once on 19 shots. Of course, that rate is sure to come up.

Flyers' Giroux Notches Two Points In Loss

News: Claude Giroux picked up a goal and an assist, but also went minus-4 in Thursday's loss to the Devils.
Analysis: It still represents an improvement from Claude Giroux's performance in Wednesday's season opener, when he lost 17 of 21 face-offs (he went 12-for-21 Thursday) and went scoreless with just one shot. He should be in line for another big offensive season.

Flyers' Giroux To Make Preseason Debut Tuesday

News: Claude Giroux (lower body) will make his preseason debut Tuesday night.
Analysis: Claude Giroux will return to action 11 days after suffering a lower body injury on the first day of training camp. He will have just over a week to get back in playing shape, so it seems likely he will be good to go when the Flyers kick off their season a week from Wednesday.

Flyers' Giroux Could Return To Action Tuesday

News: Claude Giroux (lower body) will skate Tuesday morning and remains a possibility to play in the Flyers' preseason game against the Rangers on Tuesday, Tim Panaccio of CSN Philadelphia reports.
Analysis: Claude Giroux was originally expected to miss up to two weeks when he suffered the injury on the first day of training camp and seems to be progressing quicker than the team even anticipated. Still, the Flyers could opt to keep Giroux out of Tuesday's game just to be safe, and if that's the case, he'd likely make his return to action on Thursday when the Flyers play the Capitals. Giroux has averaged at least one point per game in the last three seasons, and should remain a top fantasy option once he returns from his injury.

Flyers' Giroux Returns To Practice Thursday

News: Claude Giroux (lower body) made a surprise return to practice Thursday, participating in a limited capacity, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Just six days after suffering an injury that was expected to keep him off the ice for two weeks, Claude Giroux skated gingerly around the rink Thursday, passing the puck around to teammates and attempting a few shots. While the Flyers won't rush him back into preseason action immediately, Giroux looks like he's ahead of schedule in his recovery. There would seem to be a great chance that he's skating at close to full health before the team's Oct. 8 opener.

Flyers' Giroux (Lower Body) Out Two Weeks

News: Claude Giroux is expected to miss the next two weeks with a lower-body injury, The Record reports.
Analysis: Considering that the Flyers' opening game isn't until Oct. 9, Claude Giroux doesn't seem to be in danger of starting the season on the bench. However, he'll miss a substantial part of training camp and may suffer in terms of conditioning. With updates to come, the 26-year-old still seems to be a valuable addition at this point.

Flyers' Giroux Not Expected To Face Charges

News: Claude Giroux is not expected to have charges filed against him following an incident with a police officer in an Ottawa bar Tuesday night, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Claude Giroux was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly grabbing the buttocks of a police officer, but no formal charges were filed, and he was released from his cell in an Ottawa jail Wednesday morning. Other than a bit of embarrassment on Giroux's part following the relatively mild incident, the Flyers' captain is unlikely to face further discipline at this point.

Flyers' Giroux Comes Alive In Game 6

News: Claude Giroux scored an empty-net goal and handed out two assists in Tuesday's Game 6 triumph over the Rangers.
Analysis: In one game, Claude Giroux doubled his playoff point total. He's now scored goals in consecutive games, though one came in garbage time and the other into an empty net, so Giroux's not inspiring quite as much confidence as you'd hope.

Flyers' Giroux Limps Off

News: Claude Giroux limped to the Flyers' bench late in the third period of Game 4 against the Rangers after taking a hard hit, reports the Associated Press. There is no report on a possible injury.
Analysis: He hasn't put up the same kind of numbers he did in the regular season and hasn't scored this series. But Game 4 was his strongest performance so far -- hopefully the limp isn't a serious injury.

Flyers' Giroux Finally Attempts Shot In Series

News: Claude Giroux attempted his first two shots of the series in Tuesday's Game 3 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: The Rangers' ability to deny Claude Giroux of shot opportunities has been the difference in the series so far, with the 86-point scorer forced to defer to his less talented teammates for offense. Giroux has at least managed to pick up two assists in the three games, but he'll need to play a little more aggressively over the next few games if the Flyers hope to come out on top in the series.

Flyers' Giroux Ends Regular Season With 86th Point

News: Claude Giroux collected an assist in Sunday's 6-5 overtime loss to Carolina.
Analysis: He played in all 82 games and collected the third-highest point total in the league, totaling 86. Quite impressive, considering he was pointless in the first six games of the season and didn't score his first goal until Nov. 9.

Analysis: Claude Giroux now has six points in his last three games and is up to 85 points in 81 games on the season. The 26-year-old sits third in NHL scoring and is one of the main reasons the Flyers have clinched a playoff spot. What a stud.

Giroux Scores Two As Flyers Clinch Playoff Spot

News: Claude Giroux scored a pair of goals Tuesday against Florida, helping the Flyers clinch a playoff spot and pushing his point total over 80 for the second time in his career.
Analysis: Claude Giroux continues to be one of the NHL's most powerful offensive forces, though he'd been slumping recently, having delivered just a solitary assist over his last five games.

Flyers' Giroux Named 'Third Star' Of March

News: Claude Giroux was named the NHL's Third Star for March, reports Tim Panaccio of CSN Philadelphia.
Analysis: Claude Giroux led the Flyers to a 9-3-2 mark in March, posting 21 points along the way. The 26-year-old captain is third in the NHL with 78 points through 74 games -- his best scoring pace since his breakout 2011-12 campaign. He figures to be firing on all cylinders through April as the Flyers look to secure a playoff spot.

Giroux Carries Philadelphia To Victory

News: Claude Giroux grabbed a goal and two assists in Friday's 4-2 win over Toronto, marking just his second goal in the last 10 games.
Analysis: Claude Giroux's efforts the last several months have vaulted into discussion for the Hart Trophy as the league's most valuable player. Giroux has been nothing short of spectacular in erasing an abysmal start to the season, as he now sits with 78 points through 73 games.

Flyers' Giroux Collects Point In Loss

News: Claude Giroux assisted on Jakub Voracek's goal late in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: The Rangers have been dominant at home against the Flyers, and Claude Giroux's line was incapacitated all night by New York's defense. Next up are the Maple Leafs, and Giroux hasn't notched a single point against them in two contests this season.

Flyers’ Giroux Snags Assists, PIM In Win

News: Claude Giroux collected two assists and eight PIM in Saturday's 4-1 win over St. Louis.
Analysis: The Blues are the only team Claude Giroux has yet to score against in his NHL career, and Saturday was no different. He played a gritty game, though, as evidenced by the eight minutes he spent in atoning for his transgressions. He's posted points in six straight games, collecting 10 points over that span.

Flyers' Giroux: Two-Point Night

News: Claude Giroux scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Saturday's win over the Kings. He now has 52 points in 56 games.
Analysis: The goal was his 17th, a remarkable feat considering it took him 16 games to get his first this season. So 16 in the next 40 games is pretty sweet pace. He has 10 points, including four goals, in his last eight games. You know what to do.
