Devils' Schneider To Start Friday, Possibly Sat.

News: Cory Schneider will start Friday's game against the Bruins and is likely to get the nod Saturday against the Blue Jackets as well, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider has been playing at an extremely high level for the last two months, and with the Devils still hanging on the periphery of the wild-card race, he should be used frequently down the stretch. Assuming Schneider doesn't face an overly taxing workload or suffer a bad loss Friday, expect him to start both ends of the back-to-back.

Devils' Schneider Stops 23 In Loss

News: Cory Schneider allowed two goals on 25 shots in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Flames.
Analysis: Cory Schneider continued his recent stretch of solid play, but his team couldn't pull out another win for him. He continues to lead the NHL with 53 appearances on the season, and is one of the top fantasy netminders based on his frequent use.

Devils' Schneider Draws Start Wednesday

News: Cory Schneider will be in the crease for Wednesday's game against the Flames, NHL.com's Mike Morreale reports.
Analysis: He'll be backed up by Scott Clemmensen, as typical understudy Keith Kinkaid (groin) will be unavailable. Neither Kinkaid nor Clemmensen pose much of a threat to poach starts from Cory Schneider, as the netminder will make his league-leading 53rd appearance of the season Wednesday. He's been spectacular since the calendar flipped to 2015, going 10-4-1 with a .944 save percentage over 17 outings.

Devils' Schneider Perfect In Win

News: Cory Schneider turned aside all 38 shots he faced in Monday's 3-0 win over the Coyotes.
Analysis: Cory Schneider was able to continue his recent run of strong outings as he notched his third shutout of the year. The netminder is riding a three game winning streak, and has allowed just four goals total in his last four outings (including one relief appearance). Schneider has suffered the third most losses of any goaltender, but he still sports an impressive 2.22 GAA and .926 save percentage.

Devils' Schneider Starts Monday

News: Cory Schneider will start in net Monday against the Coyotes, Rich Chere of The Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider was forced into action Saturday in relief of the injured Keith Kinkaid. Since he's shouldered one of the heavier workloads in the NHL this season, Schneider likely would have been back in the net Monday even in the event Kinkaid were healthy. Schneider has been rock solid of late despite a lack of goal support, and should be a strong play against the Coyotes, one of the Western Conference's worst teams.

Schneider Appears In Relief For Devils

News: Cory Schneider made 14 saves in relief Saturday after starter Keith Kinkaid was forced from the game due to injury.
Analysis: Kinkaid's departure was precautionary -- he had felt something in his lower leg, but should be ready to backup Cory Schneider on Monday. So much for a night off for Schneider -- he's one of the busiest goalies in the NHL.

Devils' Schneider Takes Down Former Team

News: Cory Schneider stopped 21 of 23 shots in Friday's win over Vancouver.
Analysis: It was the 50th start of the season for Cory Schneider, who picked up his fourth win in seven games. While he's picked up a few losses of late, the 28-year-old has allowed two goals or less in 10 of his last 11 outings. With a .924 save percentage and 2.27 GAA, Schneider is simply a must-start every game.

New Jersey Sticks With Schneider On Friday

News: Cory Schneider will start Friday's game against the Canucks.
Analysis: The start will be the 50th of the season for Cory Schneider, who last gave way to Keith Kinkaid on Feb. 7. Given that New Jersey plays again on Saturday against Carolina, it's possible that the team turns to Kinkaid in that contest.

Schneider, Devils End Losing Skid

News: Cory Schneider stopped 24 of 25 pucks in Tuesday's 2-1 shootout win over the Sabres, ending his three-game losing skid.
Analysis: You'd like to see the Devils do a better job on an awful team like Buffalo, but despite Cory Schneider's strong performance, it took a shootout for them to sneak away with the win. He's played well consistently, but the Devils have scored exactly one goal during regulation (and overtime) play in each of his last four starts.

Schneider Going For Devils On Tuesday

News: Cory Schneider will be in the cage for Tuesday's game against the Sabres, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider has been dealt a tough hand of late, taking three straight losses while posting save percentages of .916, .941, and .921 in those defeats. It's clear the offense hasn't done much to lift him lately, but if ever there were an opportunity for the Devils to break through, Tuesday's match against the woeful Sabres is it. In fact, Schneider might even be the most attractive fantasy goalie option going among the Tuesday slate.

Devils' Schneider Takes Another Undeserved Loss

News: Cory Schneider was handed his third straight loss Saturday, as he let in three goals on 38 shots in a 3-1 defeat to the Predators.
Analysis: Almost none of the blame for the losing streak can be placed on Cory Schneider's shoulders, as he's turned in save marks about .910 in all three outings. Instead, as was quite common last season, it's the Devils' cratering offense that bears most of the responsibility for his demise. Patrik Elias, Jaromir Jagr, Scott Gomez, and Mike Cammalleri don't figure to rediscover the Fountain of Youth anytime soon while occupying primary roles in the team's attack, so expect Schneider's win totals to remain depressed the rest of the way.

Devils' Schneider Starting Saturday

News: Cory Schneider will start in goal Saturday against the Predators, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Rather than turn to Keith Kinkaid for the second half of a back-to-back set, the Devils will stick with Cory Schneider, who took a tough-luck loss to the Blackhawks on Friday (32 saves on 34 shots). It will mark Schneider's first time starting on back-to-back days since Nov. 28 and 29.

Devils' Schneider Falls Victim To Blackhawks

News: Cory Schneider gave up two goals on 34 shots in Friday's loss to the Blackhawks.
Analysis: It's ridiculous how good this guy is playing right now. Cory Schneider has given up two goals or less in eight straight appearances, advancing his save percentage to .924 and his GAA to 2.29. While his 19-21-5 record isn't the greatest, Schneider is single-handedly carrying the Devils right now and has played in a league-high 49 games. The workhorse is unbeatable right now and is worthy of being in your lineup every game.

Cory Schneider

Devils To Lead Off Back-To-Back Set With Schneider

News: Cory Schneider will get the nod in goal for Friday's tilt with the Blackhawks, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: After sitting in the middle of the pack among goalies in rate stats for much of the season, Cory Schneider has been exceptional since about late December. With two goals or fewer allowed in seven straight outings, Schneider has climbed up to eighth in the NHL in save percentage (.923) and 12th in GAA (2.29). Only a handful of teams can match the potency of the Blackhawks' attack, but even fewer goalies are playing on as high of a level as Schneider is right now. Fantasy owners should feel comfortable with keeping the goalie active Friday.

Devils' Schneider Dealt Loss

News: Cory Schneider turned away 22 of 24 shots in Monday's 2-1 loss to the Oilers.
Analysis: It wasn't a particularly bad performance for Cory Schneider, but he didn't get much help from his teammates as they mustered just 14 shots on the other end. It's just his second regulation loss in his last seven starts, and while his overall record on the season isn't great (19-20-5), the 28-year-old has solid rate stats and has been on fire of late.

Devils' Schneider Starts Monday

News: Cory Schneider will start between the pipes against the Oilers on Monday, Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider received the day off Saturday in game two of a back-to-back set, but will get back in net after two straight starts allowing just one goal and a 7-1-1 stretch over the last nine games.

Cory Schneider

Devils' Schneider Stymies Leafs

News: Cory Schneider stopped 33 of 34 shots in Friday's win over the Leafs.
Analysis: He's on another level right now. It's not even fair. Cory Schneider is 7-1-1 in his last nine games, allowing more than two goals in just one of those outings. He's started a whopping 45 games this season and boasts an impressive .924 save percentage, making him a must-start every game. With just two regulation losses in his last 11 appearances, Schneider is one of the most reliable goaltenders around.

Devils Stick With Schneider On Friday

News: Cory Schneider will receive the start in goal Friday against the Maple Leafs, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider has won four of his last five outings while holding the opposition to two or fewer goals. He can be played with confidence against a struggling Toronto squad that has lost 10 straight contests.

Devils' Schneider Stays Hot Tuesday

News: Cory Schneider won for the fourth time in his last five decisions Tuesday, allowing just one goal on 20 shots in a 2-1 win over the Senators.
Analysis: He's also given up either one or two goals in five consecutive outings, with save marks of .933 or better in all of them. The Devils are starting to turn things around, and it starts with their goalie.

Devils' Schneider To Start Tuesday

News: Cory Schneider will start in goal against the Senators on Tuesday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider got a rest Saturday after stopping a barrage of shots (41 of 43) in Friday's overtime loss to the Penguins. After a much-deserved breather, he will be back in net Tuesday against the Senators looking to move a game closer to an even record.

Devils' Schneider Turns In Another Strong Outing

News: Cory Schneider was outstanding Friday against the Penguins, stopping 41 of 43 shots in an overtime loss.
Analysis: It was Cory Schneider's first loss in four starts, as he has been a brick wall of late. He leads the NHL with 43 starts this season and his save percentage has climbed to .922 -- seventh-best in the NHL. The workhorse, who owns a 17-19-5 record on the year, is playing like a top-10 NHL netminder right now. You know what to do.

Devils' Schneider Getting Friday Start

News: Cory Schneider will be in the crease for Friday's game against the Penguins, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider will lead off the Devils' weekend back-to-back set, but he'll probably need to quiet the Penguins and face a minimal amount of shots in order to pick up another start Saturday against the Panthers. The netminder dazzled in his first start since the All-Star break Wednesday night, holding the Leafs to one goal on 30 shots in a shootout victory.

Devils' Schneider Allows One In Win

News: Cory Schneider stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced in Wednesday's 2-1 shootout win over the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Cory Schneider is now 17-19-4 on the season, and continues to lead all goaltenders with 42 appearances. He's been playing especially well recently, recording a save percentage of at least .933 in each of his last three games.

New Jersey Sticks With Schneider

News: Cory Schneider will get the start in goal for New Jersey on Wednesday against the Leafs, Rich Chere of the Star Ledger reports.
Analysis: No real surprise that he gets the nod in the team's first game back from the All-Star break, given that Cory Schneider currently leads the NHL with 41 starts to date.

Devils' Schneider Victorious In San Jose

News: Cory Schneider picked up the win Monday, turning aside 34 of 36 shots in an impressive 5-2 win over the Sharks.
Analysis: That's 16 wins on the year for the 28-year-old workhorse, who has now started a whopping 41 games for the Devils. Despite a 2.41 GAA and .920 save percentage on one of the league's most underwhelming teams, Cory Schneider will have a tough time hanging with the elite netminders of the NHL, but the sheer volume of starts he receives gives him undeniable value in almost all leagues.
