Devils' Schneider Stops 14 In Loss

News: Cory Schneider allowed one goal on 15 shots in Wednesday's 2-0 loss to the Senators.
Analysis: Cory Schneider played well Wednesday, but ultimately his teammates were never able to break through for a goal on the other end, so Schneider picked up his league-leading 15th loss of the season. He's now dropped three straight decisions, but has the most games played in the NHL with 30, and will continue to get the majority of the starts moving forward.

Devils Going With Schneider On Wednesday

News: Cory Schneider will be in the net Wednesday against the Senators, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider was given the night off Monday against the Islanders after two disastrous turns in a row against the Flyers and Stars, during which he surrendered a total of seven goals. Despite a sizable workload this season without Martin Brodeur behind him on the depth chart, Schneider hasn't made the most of the opportunity, providing a middling 2.61 GAA and .916 save percentage over 29 outings. He'll match up against Ottawa's Craig Anderson on Wednesday in a tilt between struggling goalies.

Devils' Schneider Gets The Yank Saturday

News: Cory Schneider was chased from Saturday's game against the Stars after giving up four goals on 33 shots.
Analysis: That's three losses in four games for Cory Schneider, who has given up at least three goals in four of his last five starts. While he practically starts every game, Schneider holds a disappointing 11-14-3 record on the season, to go with an impressive .916 save percentage and 2.61 GAA. He remains a strong fantasy option due to his league-leading games played total (29), but be prepared for lots of losses, as the Devils are struggling and sit 13th in the Eastern Conference.

Devils' Schneider Draws Saturday Start

News: Cory Schneider will be in the crease Saturday against the Stars, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider has seen a lot of rubber over his last two contests, making a combined total of 71 saves in a win over the Hurricanes and loss to the Flyers. It's allowed him to steadily pad his counting stats, but unless the Devils can provide some more support offensively, he'll be tough to count on for a win on a given night.

Schneider, Devils Take Another Loss

News: Cory Schneider allowed three goals on 35 shots to take a 3-1 loss to the Flyers on Thursday.
Analysis: It's Cory Schneider's sixth loss now in his last eight starts -- this despite the fact that he's finished with save marks of .906 or better in six of those games. His rate stats remain fantasy-relevant, but the Devils have not shown their traditional defensive excellence this season, nor have they scored many goals in support of the 28-year-old netminder.

Devils' Schneider Set For Thursday Start

News: Cory Schneider is on track to start Thursday's game against the Flyers, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider was the first goaltender off the ice following Thursday's morning skate, so it's probably safe to count him in as the starter for the tilt with Philadelphia. He will square off against a slumping Flyers squad that has won just two games since Nov. 8.

Devils' Schneider Strong In Win

News: Cory Schneider made 39 saves in Monday's 2-1 win over the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Cory Schneider was great on Monday especially late, as he made 17 saves in the third to preserve the one goal advantage. The win pulls him back closer to .500 with a record of 11-12-3. He's played well of late, but hasn't been getting enough support from his mates to get better results.

Devils' Schneider Will Start Monday

News: Cory Schneider will start Monday's game against the Hurricanes, Tom Gulitti of the Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider will get yet another start for the Devils, but could be in line for a break Tuesday when the team takes on the Blackhawks in the second of a back-to-back.

Devils' Schneider Handed Loss Saturday

News: Cory Schneider stopped 25 of 28 shots in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Capitals.
Analysis: Cory Schneider surrendered three goals for the second consecutive outing and has taken the loss in 11 of his last 15 outings. In terms of ratios, Schneider has been just a middle-of-the-pack goalie this season after shining in that area in 20123-14, posting a 2.57 GAA and .915 save percentage over 26 appearances.

Devils' Schneider Will Start Saturday

News: Cory Schneider will start in goal Saturday against the Capitals, Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Saturday's start will mark Cory Schneider sixth straight and 13th in the team's last 14 games. The 28-year-old has just one win in his last five outings, but he did shut out the Capitals on 30 shots back on Nov. 14.

Devils' Schneider Saves 29 In Win

News: Cory Schneider stopped 29 of 32 shots in Thursday's 5-3 win over Toronto.
Analysis: It wasn't Cory Schneider's greatest game, but he finally got some help from the New Jersey offense, which has struggled all year long. The Devils hadn't scored five goals in a game since opening the season with 11 goals in their first two games.

Devils Going With Schneider On Thursday

News: Cory Schneider will be in the crease Thursday against the Maple Leafs, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider enters Thursday's game a loser of four straight, but he's been mostly good in the losses, yielding two or fewer goals three times. Unfortunately, the Devils offense has gone MIA during that time, and things don't figure to get much better on that front Thursday. Two of the team's top forwards in Jaromir Jagr (illness) and Patrik Elias (groin) will sit out.

Devils' Offense Doesn't Help Schneider Tuesday

News: Cory Schneider took his fourth straight loss Tuesday in Pittsburgh, stopping 22 of 23 shots while watching his team get shut out by Marc-Andre Fleury.
Analysis: As usual, Cory Schneider played well, but got little in the way of help from his offense. The Devils have scored just five goals over the course of the last four games, and four of those came in one game.

Devils' Schneider Will Start Tuesday

News: Cory Schneider will start Tuesday's game against the Penguins, Tom Gulitti of the Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider will get yet another start Tuesday, which will be his league leading 24th of the season. He also leads the NHL in shots faced and saves, so fantasy owners can expect Schneider to continue to be a workhorse.

Losing Streak At Three For Devils' Schneider

News: Cory Schneider saw his losing streak fall to three games after he dropped Saturday's start to the Islanders. The goalie surrendered two goals on 27 shots.
Analysis: Cory Schneider has played admirably in two of the three games during the losing spell, but the Devils offense has gone AWOL to prevent him from coming out on top. His next opportunity to get back on track will come Tuesday in Pittsburgh.

Devils' Schneider To Start Saturday

News: Cory Schneider will be in goal for Saturday's game against the Islanders, according to Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider will look to snap a two-game losing streak Saturday night, but he will face a stiff challenge from an Islanders team that has lost just twice since Nov. 5.

Devils' Schneider Suffers Fourth Loss In Five Game

News: Cory Schneider suffered his fourth loss in five games Friday, giving up four goals on 32 shots against the Red Wings.
Analysis: Cory Schneider now drops to 9-9-3 on the season with a .914 save percentage and 2.62 GAA. While he may be in a bit of a funk, Schneider is an absolute workhorse in the Devils' crease and should reach 30 wins.

Devils Will Start Schneider On Friday

News: Cory Schneider will be in the crease Friday against the Red Wings, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider has taken a loss in three of his previous four starts, dropping his record to .500 (9-9-2) for the season. His ratios have taken a hit this season, but a huge workload has allowed him to rank as the league leader with 557 total saves thus far. He'll take aim at his 10th win against a Red Wings squad that will be starting its backup goalie in Petr Mrazek.

Canucks' Schneider Stops 34 In Loss

News: Cory Schneider saved 34 of 36 shots in Tuesday's 2-0 loss to the Canucks.
Analysis: He can hardly be blamed for this loss, his third in four starts, as it's hard to win when your offense scores no goals. Cory Schneider's rate stats are still lower than his norm, but he's been pulling them up lately. It'd be nice for him to get some help while he does so, though.

Devils' Schneider Will Start Tuesday

News: Cory Schneider will start between the pipes Tuesday against the Canucks, Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider will take the crease once again for his league-leading 21st start of the season in Vancouver against his former team. The netminder is fresh off a 29-save shutout over the Oilers last time out.

Devils' Schneider Finally Gets Rest

News: For the first time all season, Cory Schneider will not be the starting goalie in a game for the Devils. Instead, backup Scott Clemmensen will man the net Saturday against the Flames, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: At long last, Cory Schneider's streak of 20 straight starts to open the season will come to an end. He concluded it in glorious fashion with his second shutout of the season Friday night, but it was never going to be sustainable for coach Pete DeBoer to lean on him quite so heavily. He'll still be the odds-on favorite to lead the league in goalie starts, but expect Schneider to see more frequent days off in the second half of the season.

Devils' Schneider Stymies Oilers

News: Cory Schneider turned aside all 29 shots for a 2-0 shutout over the Oilers on Friday.
Analysis: That's the second goose egg of the season for Cory Schneider, who earned his first shutout just a week earlier. It's hard to believe he's been in the net for every single one of the Devils' 20 games thus far, but he's handled the workload capably, posting a respectable 2.58 GAA and .914 save percentage.

Devils' Schneider Slated To Start Friday

News: Cory Schneider will be in the net Friday against the Oilers, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Coach Pete DeBoer will likely wait and see how Cory Schneider performs Friday before determining whether or not he'll go with his No. 1 goalie for a 21st consecutive time Saturday against the Flames. The netminder has dropped his last two outings against the Avalanche and Jets, allowing three goals to both opponents.

Schneider, Devils Downed By Jets

News: Cory Schneider allowed three goals on 31 shots in Tuesday's loss to Winnipeg.
Analysis: Cory Schneider and the Devils continue to have a tough time winning, as the 28-year-old goalie has just a 2-5-0 record over his last eight starts. The goalie really hasn't gotten it going yet, although he can be forgiven to some degree for his struggles due to reductions in the Devils' defensive stinginess. Tuesday represents the seventh time in 19 starts that Schneider's faced 30-plus shots; he only did so 11 times in 43 starts last season.

Devils' Schneider Starting Tuesday

News: Cory Schneider will start in net Tuesday against the Jets, Tom Gulitti of the Record reports.
Analysis: No surprise here, as Cory Schneider leads the league in games played among goalies, and the team has two days off on either side of Tuesday's game.
