Devils' Schneider Will Start Tuesday

News: Cory Schneider will start between the pipes Tuesday against the Canucks, Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider will take the crease once again for his league-leading 21st start of the season in Vancouver against his former team. The netminder is fresh off a 29 save shutout over the Oilers last time out.

Devils' Schneider Finally Gets Rest

News: For the first time all season, Cory Schneider will not be the starting goalie in a game for the Devils. Instead, backup Scott Clemmensen will man the net Saturday against the Flames, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: At long last, Cory Schneider's streak of 20 straight starts to open the season will come to an end. He concluded it in glorious fashion with his second shutout of the season Friday night, but it was never going to be sustainable for coach Pete DeBoer to lean on him quite so heavily. He'll still be the odds-on favorite to lead the league in goalie starts, but expect Schneider to see more frequent days off in the second half of the season.

Devils' Schneider Stymies Oilers

News: Cory Schneider turned aside all 29 shots for a 2-0 shutout over the Oilers on Friday.
Analysis: That's the second goose egg of the season for Cory Schneider, who earned his first shutout just a week earlier. It's hard to believe he's been in the net for every single one of the Devils' 20 games thus far, but he's handled the workload capably, posting a respectable 2.58 GAA and .914 save percentage.

Devils' Schneider Slated To Start Friday

News: Cory Schneider will be in the net Friday against the Oilers, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Coach Pete DeBoer will likely wait and see how Cory Schneider performs Friday before determining whether or not he'll go with his No. 1 goalie for a 21st consecutive time Saturday against the Flames. The netminder has dropped his last two outings against the Avalanche and Jets, allowing three goals to both opponents.

Schneider, Devils Downed By Jets

News: Cory Schneider allowed three goals on 31 shots in Tuesday's loss to Winnipeg.
Analysis: Cory Schneider and the Devils continue to have a tough time winning, as the 28-year-old goalie has just a 2-5-0 record over his last eight starts. The goalie really hasn't gotten it going yet, although he can be forgiven to some degree for his struggles due to reductions in the Devils' defensive stinginess. Tuesday represents the seventh time in 19 starts that Schneider's faced 30-plus shots; he only did so 11 times in 43 starts last season.

Devils' Schneider Starting Tuesday

News: Cory Schneider will start in net Tuesday against the Jets, Tom Gulitti of the Record reports.
Analysis: No surprise here, as Cory Schneider leads the league in games played among goalies, and the team has two days off on either side of Tuesday's game.

Devils' Schneider: Heavy Workload

News: Cory Schneider made 26 saves in a 3-2 loss to Colorado on Saturday night.
Analysis: He wanted a heavy workload while he was in Vancouver and he's getting it in Jersey -- he's started every Devils game this season. He's delivering decent numbers, but nothing spectacular. He's going to get tired soon and that'll impact his numbers. Plan ahead.

Eighteen Straight Starts For Devils' Schneider

News: Cory Schneider will be in the net Saturday against the Avalanche, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: As they have all season, the Devils will turn to Cory Schneider for both ends of the back-to-back, though this time, the goalie will be coming off his first shutout of the season. Schneider blanked the Capitals while saving all 30 shots he faced Friday night and has stopped 53 of the 54 shots he's faced over the last two games. Semyon Varlamov will oppose him in the opposite crease.

Devils' Schneider Shuts Down Capitals

News: Cory Schneider stopped all 30 shots he faced in Friday's shutout win over Washington.
Analysis: That's two straight wins for Cory Schneider, who has only allowed one goal in that span. The 28-year-old is an absolute workhorse in the Devils' crease, having now started a league-high 17 straight games. He'll get a rest eventually, but keep him rolling, as he's been a reliable fantasy option this season with a 8-6-2 record.

Devils Turn To Schneider For 17th Straight

News: Cory Schneider will be in the crease Friday against the Capitals, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: It will be the 17th start in 17 games for Cory Schneider, who recovered from a recent tailspin with an excellent outing Tuesday against the Wild, stopping 23 of 24 shot attempts in the victory. The netminder has experienced a decent amount of success against the Capitals in four career starts, going 2-2 with a 2.16 GAA and .925 save percentage.

Devils' Schneider Settles Things Down With Win

News: Cory Schneider bounced back from his recent struggles Tuesday, holding the Wild to a single goal on 24 shots in a 3-1 victory.
Analysis: Cory Schneider had given up 11 goals in unimpressive fashion over the last three games, but bounced back with a strong outing in this one. Buy low while his numbers look ugly -- he's way better than what the season stats show.

Devils To Start Schneider On Tuesday

News: Cory Schneider will be in the crease Tuesday against the Wild, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: It appeared coach Pete DeBoer was leaning toward going with backup Keith Kinkaid as Tuesday's starter after Cory Schneider took his fourth loss in a row Monday night, but the No. 1 netminder will be back out there for his 16th consecutive start. However, if Schneider struggles early on -- as has been the case recently -- DeBoer likely won't hesitate to give him the early hook.

Devils' Schneider Takes Loss In Boston

News: Cory Schneider gave up four goals on 23 shots in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: Ouch -- that's four straight losses for the former Canuck, who has started every single one of New Jersey's 15 games this season. At this pace, even the league's most experienced workhorses would be at risk of having their play impacted by fatigue, and that certainly seems to be the case with Cory Schneider. Backup Keith Kinkaid will likely see his first start of the season sooner than later.

Devils Stick With Schneider Monday

News: Cory Schneider will start Monday against the Bruins, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider was pulled from his second straight start Friday against the Red Wings after allowing four goals on 24 shots. He will look to stay in net a full 60 minutes Monday when they take on the Bruins.

Devils' Schneider Pulled Again

News: Cory Schneider was pulled Friday against Detroit after giving up four goals on 24 shots.
Analysis: Cory Schneider has now been pulled in two straight games, allowing seven goals in that span. While he has lost three straight games, he still possesses a 6-5-2 record and can't be blamed for the team's recent struggles. The former Canuck has started a career-high 14 straight games and doesn't appear to be getting a rest anytime soon. Schneider is the man in New Jersey.

Devils' Schneider To Start Again Friday

News: Cory Schneider was pulled early during Thursday's loss to the Blues upon allowing three goals on 25 shots faced. Despite the poor outing, coach Pete DeBoer announced after the game that Schneider would make the start between the pipes against the Red Wings on Friday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Making his second consecutive start against the Blues, Cory Schneider again failed to escape with a win, though he was ultimately able to avoid a loss. After Schneider exited, the Devils rallied for three late goals, but backup Keith Kinkaid surrendered the eventual game-winner to David Backes with less than three minutes remaining to take the defeat.

Devils Roll With Schneider Thursday

News: Cory Schneider will start in net for the Devils on Thursday.
Analysis: Cory Schneider saved 22 of 23 shots he faced against the Blues on Tuesday but took the loss as the Devils were shut out. He continues to receive all of the starts in net, as the backups have been blanked in that category this season. The team will have to rest Schneider at some point, but it won't come Thursday as he gets the start again facing the Blues.

Devils' Schneider Outdueled In Loss

News: Cory Schneider made 22 saves on 23 shots and matched zeroes with the Blues' Jake Allen into the third period Tuesday, but Vladimir Tarasenko's power-play goal was the difference in a 1-0 loss.
Analysis: Cory Schneider's been a horse for the Devils, and aside from a five-goal disaster in Pittsburgh, he's been absolutely spectacular of late, posting a save percentage of .941 or better in five of his last six games. He hasn't been winning much lately -- just thrice in his last nine starts -- but he's been one of the hotter goalies around.

Devils' Schneider To Start Tuesday

News: Cory Schneider will be in the crease for Tuesday's game against the Blues, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider will look to slow down a Blues squad that has won five straight games. He gave up just three total goals in two starts against the Blues last season.

Devils' Schneider Makes 32 Saves In Win

News: Cory Schneider made 32 saves in a 3-2 win over Columbus on Saturday night.
Analysis: He hasn't had a break this season, but he doesn't look tired. We'd like to see improvements in goals-against average and save percentage, but his middling numbers in both categories are skewed by two games -- he allowed five goals in a loss to the Caps in mid-October and five more before being pulled in a loss Tuesday to the Pens. Take those away and he actually looks pretty darn good.

Devils To Start Schneider On Saturday

News: Cory Schneider will be in the crease Saturday against the Blue Jackets, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider will draw his 11th start in 11 games for the Devils, who have followed through with their pledge to ride the goalie heavily this season. He's been mostly a disappointment thus far with a 2.91 GAA and .906 save percentage, but he fared well in Thursday's turn against the Jets, saving 24 of 25 shots in the shootout win.

Schneider Leads Devils To Shootout WIn

News: Cory Schneider allowed just a single goal on 25 shots and denied all three shootout attempts Thursday to deliver a 2-1 victory over the Jets.
Analysis: A first-period Blake Wheeler goal had Cory Schneider and the Devils trailing almost the whole game until Michael Ryder's goal late in the third tied it up, 1-1. That and a shootout goal turned out to be all Schneider needed. A couple of ugly outings have damaged his ratios in the early going, making him an intriguing buy-low candidate right now.

Devils' Schneider To Start Thursday

News: Cory Schneider will be between the pipes for Thursday's game against the Jets, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider will look to get back on track after giving up five goals in two periods in his last start. He will take on a Winnipeg team that scored four goals its last time out, but has topped two goals just three times through nine games.

Devils' Schneider Pulled Early In Blowout

News: Cory Schneider gave up five goals on 23 shot attempts in Tuesday's loss to the Penguins before he was mercifully pulled before the start of the third period.
Analysis: Cory Schneider owned a 3-1 lead midway through the second period before the Penguins responded with four unanswered goals to chase the goalie from the game. The Devils have started Schneider for all nine of their games this season, but with the goalie struggling to a 3.15 GAA and .901 save percentage, a night off could prove highly beneficial.

Devils' Schneider Starting Tuesday

News: Cory Schneider will start Tuesday's game against the Penguins, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider has started every game for the Devils so far this season, and will get the call in net again Tuesday. He played well last time out, allowing just two goals on 35 shots in a 3-2 win over the Senators.
