Devils' Schneider Turns In Another Strong Outing

News: Cory Schneider was outstanding Friday against the Penguins, stopping 41 of 43 shots in an overtime loss.
Analysis: It was Cory Schneider's first loss in four starts, as he has been a brick wall of late. He leads the NHL with 43 starts this season and his save percentage has climbed to .922 -- seventh-best in the NHL. The workhorse, who owns a 17-19-5 record on the year, is playing like a top-10 NHL netminder right now. You know what to do.

Devils' Schneider Getting Friday Start

News: Cory Schneider will be in the crease for Friday's game against the Penguins, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider will lead off the Devils' weekend back-to-back set, but he'll probably need to quiet the Penguins and face a minimal amount of shots in order to pick up another start Saturday against the Panthers. The netminder dazzled in his first start since the All-Star break Wednesday night, holding the Leafs to one goal on 30 shots in a shootout victory.

Devils' Schneider Allows One In Win

News: Cory Schneider stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced in Wednesday's 2-1 shootout win over the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Cory Schneider is now 17-19-4 on the season, and continues to lead all goaltenders with 42 appearances. He's been playing especially well recently, recording a save percentage of at least .933 in each of his last three games.

New Jersey Sticks With Schneider

News: Cory Schneider will get the start in goal for New Jersey on Wednesday against the Leafs, Rich Chere of the Star Ledger reports.
Analysis: No real surprise that he gets the nod in the team's first game back from the All-Star break, given that Cory Schneider currently leads the NHL with 41 starts to date.

Devils' Schneider Victorious In San Jose

News: Cory Schneider picked up the win Monday, turning aside 34 of 36 shots in an impressive 5-2 win over the Sharks.
Analysis: That's 16 wins on the year for the 28-year-old workhorse, who has now started a whopping 41 games for the Devils. Despite a 2.41 GAA and .920 save percentage on one of the league's most underwhelming teams, Cory Schneider will have a tough time hanging with the elite netminders of the NHL, but the sheer volume of starts he receives gives him undeniable value in almost all leagues.

New Jersey's Schneider Set To Start Monday

News: Cory Schneider (upper body) is slated to start Monday's game against the Sharks, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Per the report, Cory Schneider -- who left Friday's game against the Ducks with an upper-body injury -- will square off against Sharks' backup Alex Stalock on Monday.

New Jersey's Schneider Practices

News: Cory Schneider (upper body) practiced Sunday, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: The report notes that Cory Schneider worked in the net at the Devils' end of the ice on Sunday, a slot normally manned by the team's starting goalie, so things are starting to look up with regard to his availability for Monday's game against the Sharks.

New Jersey's Schneider On Track To Play Monday

News: Cory Schneider (upper body) is on track to start Monday's game against the Sharks, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider had a puck hit him on the side of his head near his ear during Friday's game against the Ducks, but barring a setback, it looks like he'll be able to play Monday night.

Devils' Schneider Avoids Long-Term Injury

News: General manager Lou Lamoriello said Saturday that Cory Schneider (upper body) is day-to-day and not at any risk of a long-term injury, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Lamoriello didn't shed much light on the nature of Cory Schneider's upper-body injury, but it's believed to be related to his shoulder or collarbone area. No X-rays were deemed necessary after his exit from Friday's game, and the Devils don't believe they will need to recall another goalie from the minors to cover for Schneider. At the very least, look for Schneider to be available in a backup capacity for the Devils' next game Monday in San Jose.

New Jersey's Schneider Has Upper Body Injury

News: Cory Schneider did not require X-Rays after leaving Friday's game against the Ducks with an upper body injury, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Per the report, Cory Schneider is feeling better now, which offers encouragement that the goalie avoided a serious injury Friday.

New Jersey's Schneider Injured Friday

News: Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger indicates that the issue that forced Cory Schneider out of Friday's game against the Ducks was a shoulder or collarbone injury.
Analysis: The Devils have yet to provide an update on Cory Schneider's status, but at the very least, the goalie's availability for Monday's game against the Sharks is cloudy at this stage.

New Jersey's Schneider Exits Friday's Game

News: Cory Schneider was replaced by Keith Kinkaid to start the second period of Friday's game against the Ducks, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: While the Devils haven't provided an update on Cory Schneider yet, Gulitti relays that it appears as though the goalie may have been stung by a shot to his right collarbone in the first period.

Devils' Schneider Set To Start Friday

News: Cory Schneider will man the net Friday against the Ducks, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider wasn't at his best Wednesday against the Kings, but his offense picked him up to lead him to the victory. Though his numbers aren't nearly as magnificent as they were a season earlier, Schneider's 2.42 GAA and .919 save percentage are decent enough to play in just about any format.

Devils' Schneider Beats Kings On Road

News: Cory Schneider made 23 of 26 saves in a 5-3 win over the Kings on Wednesday.
Analysis: That's the 15th win on the year for Cory Schneider, which is pretty disappointing, given his league-high 39 starts. With a .919 save percentage and 2.42 GAA, his numbers certainly don't jump off the page on a mediocre Devils team, but given the sheer volume of starts he receives, Schneider is a must-own in nearly all leagues.

Devils' Schneider To Start Wednesday

News: Cory Schneider will get the start in net Wednesday against the Kings, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider should be fresh, as he hasn't been in net since the Devils took on the Bruins on Jan. 8. The goalie has played pretty well this season, posting a 2.40 GAA and a .919 save percentage. However, he'll need his team to start putting together better offensive and defensive performances in order to consistently post wins going forward.

Devils' Schneider Under Siege In Loss

News: Cory Schneider made 40 saves on 42 shots Thursday in Boston, but was stuck with a 3-0 loss.
Analysis: The Devils' offense had looked like it was waking up over the last two games, having beaten Buffalo and Philadelphia by a combined 9-3 tally, but now it looks like they were just beating up on cellar dwellers. Cory Schneider had to face triple -- yes, exactly triple -- the pucks that opposing netminder Niklas Svedberg saw. He continues to turn in strong performances, but the Devils' offense and defense are painfully unreliable.

Devils Roll With Schneider On Thursday

News: Cory Schneider will be in the crease for Thursday's game against the Bruins, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: He'll catch the Bruins on the second game of a back-to-back set, while the Devils begin a back-to-back stretch of their own. Cory Schneider has only made two previous starts against the Bruins in his career, winning one and losing the other while posting an .887 save percentage.

Devils' Schneider Wins Third In Four

News: Cory Schneider was the victor Tuesday over the Sabres, stopping 20 of 21 shots in the 4-1 win. He also was credited with a secondary assist, giving him his seventh career point.
Analysis: The Devils offense is finally clicking again, much to the benefit of Cory Schneider, who has won three of his last four outings. He's certainly held up to his end of the bargain in those turns, surrendering two or fewer goals on each occasion. The lack of talent on his supporting cast probably won't allow him to continue raking in the wins quite as frequently, but it's at least encouraging to see the goalie's ratios gradually creep closer to the impressive marks he posted last season.

Devils Roll With Schneider Tuesday

News: Cory Schneider will receive the starting nod Tuesday against the Sabres, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider turned aside 18 of the 20 shots he faced in his last outing Saturday against the Flyers, improving his record to 13-18-4 on the season. He will carry a 2.45 GAA and .917 save percentage into the matchup with the Sabres, looking to pull his record a game closer to even.

Schneider Nabs Win For Devils

News: Cory Schneider stopped 18 of 20 shots in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Flyers.
Analysis: Finally, the Devils provided Cory Schneider with some offensive support, enabling him to claim his third win in 11 starts. While the goalie's ratios are still well behind those he posted a year ago, he's made shown progress in that respect recently. He's surrendered two or fewer goals in five of his last seven turns.

Devils' Schneider Gets The Nod Saturday

News: Cory Schneider will be in the crease Saturday against the Flyers.
Analysis: As expected, the Devils will get Cory Schneider back in the net after he was rested in favor of backup Keith Kinkaid for Friday's loss to the Canadiens. Schneider seems to have turned the corner with his play in recent outings, but with two wins in his last 10 starts, his offense is his worst enemy at the moment.

Devils' Schneider Saves 25, But Loses Again

News: Cory Schneider made 25 saves for the Devils in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Red Wings.
Analysis: The Devils are limping badly -- they have six regulars out of the lineup and lost another on Wednesday. He has just two wins in his last 10 and things are looking particularly bleak for the Devils right now. You may want to find alternative options for your twine tent, at least until that team gets healthy.

Devils' Schneider To Start Wednesday

News: Cory Schneider will start Wednesday's game against the Red Wings, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider has surrendered just eight goals over his last five starts, yet he only has one win to show for it. Such is life when you're the goaltender for a team that ranks 28th in the NHL with just 2.1 goals per game.

Devils' Schneider Saves 27 In Win

News: Cory Schneider was on his game Monday with 27 saves in a win over Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Cory Schneider hasn't had the season many thought he would when given the starting job for the first time in his career. Perhaps being pushed by Keith Kinkaid will do wonder for both him and the team.

Devils' Schneider Will Start Monday

News: Cory Schneider will start in net Monday against the Penguins, Tom Gulitti of the Record reports.
Analysis: Cory Schneider will take the crease Monday for his league-leading 34th appearance, and will be tasked with slowing down the high-powered Penguins offense. Schneider is 0-5-1 in his last six appearances, and will look to turn things around Monday.
