Hensick Inactive In Blues' Loss

News: T.J. Hensick, who was called up from AHL Peoria on Tuesday, did not suit up for Wednesday night's game against the Bruins.
Analysis: When the opponent is Boston, it's not a game for T.J. Hensick, who has flashed considerable offensive skill in the AHL, but isn't the type of grinder needed to hang with the Bruins. Hensick was called up as insurance after the Blues learned they'd be without Jamie Langenbrunner for four weeks. He'll get his opportunities when coach Ken Hitchcock feels the need for more skating/offense on the fourth line in place of Ryan Reaves.

Blues' Hensick Leads Peoria

News: T.J. Hensick scored two goals in AHL Peoria's win over Chicago on Sunday, the Peoria Journal Star reports.
Analysis: T.J. Hensick, who leads the Rivermen with 10 points through seven games, has been a steady offensive producer at the AHL level. His commitment to defense and the more physical components of the game are the questions on Hensick, who has more than 100 games of NHL experience.

Blues Re-Sign Hensick

News: The Blues re-signed Hensick to a two-year contract extension, the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Blues Recall Hensick

News: The Blues have recalled Hensick under emergency conditions, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Patrik Berglund is questionable for Thursday night's game with a lower-body injury, so Hensick will provide center depth in the event that Berglund is unable to play.

Blues Send Hensick Down

News: Hensick has been sent down to AHL Peoria, Lou Korac of the Alton Telegraph reports.
Analysis: Hensick has recorded just two points and a minus-7 rating in 12 games for the Blues to date, so this nugget shouldn't affect too many fantasy lineups.

Hensick Injured In Blues' Win

News: Hensick suffered a lower-body injury in Monday's win over Columbus, the Alton Telegraph's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Hensick is considered day-to-day, but he is up on an emergency recall anyway, so he'll likely be headed back to AHL Peoria soon regardless of his health status.

Blues Demote Hensick

News: Hensick was sent back down to Peoria of the American Hockey League, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Hensick was given a brief two-game stint with the major-league club, but provided very little in his opportunity. To replace him on the roster, the Blues called up Phillip McRae.

Blues Drop Hensick

News: Hensick skated on the Blues' fourth line in Monday night's loss to the Coyotes.
Analysis: Hensick was given a plum offensive assignment Saturday, skating right wing on the Blues' second line, but he failed to get off a shot and was a minus-2 in St. Louis' 2-1 loss to the Rangers.

No Shots For Blues' Hensick

News: Hensick did not fire a shot and was a minus-2 in the Blues' 2-1 loss to the Rangers on Saturday.
Analysis: Hensick was making his first appearance since being called up from AHL Peoria earlier this week. He was given an offensive role, playing right wing on the Blues' second line, but generated very little in the way of scoring opportunities.

Hensick A Top Sixer For Blues

News: Hensick will skate on the right wing of the Blues' second line to start Saturday night's game against the Rangers, the In The Slot blog reports. Hensick, a center by trade, was called up by St. Louis on Friday.
Analysis: Hensick has been a big scorer in the AHL, including his 31 points (9 goals, 22 assists) in 26 games for the Peoria Rivermen this season. The Blues are starved for any kind of offense and feel Hensick may be better able to provide that as a top-six forward than B.J. Crombeen, who will move down to the fourth line. "T.J.'s a guy who has got some skill, has got some ability to make plays. We're going to need to see some solid play on both sides of the puck. ... It's a good challenge, good opportunity for him," said Blues head coach Davis Payne.

Blues Recall Hensick

News: The Blues recalled Hensick from AHL Peoria on Friday, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Hensick has a team-high 31 points (nine goals, 22 assists) in 26 AHL game this season. He was an AHL All-Star last season and has enough skill that he could potentially stick in St. Louis for a while. He played three games with the Blues earlier this season.

Blues Return Hensick to Peoria

News: Hensick was returned to Peoria (AHL) on Wednesday, Lou Korac of the Alton Telegraph reports.
Analysis: He's been a very limited contributor for the Blues this season with just one point and a minus-2 rating through three games. As long as he's in Peoria, however, he should be able to collect regular top-six minutes and continue refining his game.

Hensick Debuts for St. Louis

News: Hensick made his season debut for St. Louis, skating 13 shifts for 5:42 of ice time in Wednesday's loss to Detroit.
Analysis: Hensick, who was recalled from Peoria on Wednesday, will be little more than a fourth-liner for the Blues and there's no reason to suspect he'll generate much of a spark for the team's moribund goal-scoring.

St. Louis Recalls Hensick

News: The Blues recalled Hensick from Peoria of the American Hockey League, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Hensick, who had six goals and nine assists or the Rivermen, is expected to be in the lineup Wednesday in Detroit.
Analysis: The team's and goalie Jaroslav Halak's impressive start to the season have come under stress lately with injuries to key personnel and poor goal scoring taking their toll. Perhaps the Blues can get Hensick to provide some kind of spark for the sagging offense.

Blues' Hensick Makes Mark

News: Hensick has a point in all six games for the Peoria Rivermen to start the 2010-11 AHL season.
Analysis: Hensick had six assists through the first five games before hitting the net twice in Peoria's last game. He's a skilled playmaker that had 50 assists in 58 games in the AHL last season. Still just 24, Hensick is very much in the Blues' plans.

Blues Trim Hensick

News: Hensick reported to Peoria of the American Hockey League after clearing waivers from the Blues, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Remove Hensick from your list of potential forwards to replace the injured Vladimir Sobotka (shoulder). We're talking about the 14th forward on the roster, so there is little fantasy value tied up in a spot that will be a healthy scratch most nights.

Hensick Looking for Blues' Final Spot

News: A shoulder injury to Vladimir Sobtoka has created some competition for the Blues' final roster spot, with Hensick in the mix, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The skilled playmaker has bounced between the AHL and Colorado for a few seasons now, never having the opportunity to do much more than center a third or fourth line. The Blues are taking a chance with Hensick, feeling he's an asset that could be a late bloomer. If he's not Sobotka's injury replacement in St. Louis, Hensick surely will be a top center man for the AHL's Peoria Rivermen.

Hensick clears waivers, in minors

News: The Avalanche sent defenseman T.J. Hensick to Lake Erie of the AHL on Friday. He was placed on waivers Wednesday.
Analysis: It's very surprising no one claimed Hensick off waiver since he is a promising prospect. Unfortunately, Hensick just wasn't seeing regular minutes with the Avs. He had one goal and three points in seven games. Hensick is likely due back at some point, but he still is nothing more than a long-term Fantasy keeper.

Avalanche place Hensick on waivers

News: The Avalanche have placed C T.J. Hensick on waivers, with the goal of sending him down the AHL.
Analysis: A third-round pick from 2005, Hensick just really hasn't got it going at the NHL level yet. Owners in keeper leagues might want to hold on to for him for a little longer, but his seasonal Fantasy value is pretty much zero.
