Blues' Porter To Play Saturday

News: Chris Porter will sub back into the lineup for his 17th game of the season Saturday at home against the Stars, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Chris Porter will take the place of Magnus Paajarvi in the lineup, who will sit as a healthy scratch. Coach Ken Hitchcock is hoping this move adds more toughness to his fourth line, adding that "Porter wins all the board battles. He plays really sound. He's got a great conscience and he's a smart player." While the compliments are nice for Porter, the fact remains that with just a single point this season -- and 25 in 143 career games -- he is more valuable to the Blues than fantasy rosters.

Blues Recall Porter

News: Chris Porter was recalled from AHL Chicago on Tuesday.
Analysis: With the Blues sending down youngster Dmitrij Jaskin after he was a healthy scratch in the team's most recent game, Chris Porter seems destined for a similar fate. The 29-year-old is little more than organizational depth and has one point in 10 games with the parent club on the season.

Blues Send Down Porter

News: Chris Porter was reassigned to AHL Chicago on Saturday.
Analysis: With the Blues in need of extra goalie Saturday in light of Jaroslav Halak's illness, Chris Porter was the odd man out. Porter had one assist in 10 games with the Blues.

Blues Recall Porter

News: Chris Porter was recalled from AHL Chicago on Friday.
Analysis: The Blues are down a few forwards at the moment and will look to Chris Porter to provide further depth on the outside. The 29-year-old has made six appearances for the Blues earlier this season.

Porter Sent Down By Blues

News: The Blues have assigned Chris Porter to AHL Chicago, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Chris Porter, who has 11 points for 19 games with Chicago thus far, has yet to record a point or PIM in six games in his role as a depth forward with the big club to date.

Blues Recall Porter

News: Chris Porter was recalled from AHL Chicago on Saturday, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The Blues had a need for an extra forward for their upcoming trip to Ottawa, and the choice was Chris Porter, who was previously waived by the Blues in November. He's unlikely to stick with the parent club for very long beyond the Ottawa game.

Blues' Porter Placed On Waivers

News: Chris Porter was placed on waivers by the Blues on Friday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: Chris Porter had suited up for two games this season. At 29 years old and with limited production at the NHL level the last few seasons, it appears Porter is just organizational forward depth at this stage in his career.

Blues Assign Porter To AHL Chicago

News: The Blues assigned Chris Porter to AHL Chicago on Monday, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.

Blues Recall Porter

News: The Blues recalled Chris Porter from AHL Chicago on Thursday, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The winger has registered four goals in seven games so far with AHL Chicago, and will come up to play a depth forward role for the Blues. He'll fill in for Brendan Morrow and Magnus Paajarvi, who are both currently sidelined with upper-body injuries.

Blues Waive Porter

News: Chris Porter was waived by the Blues on Saturday, Ren Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: Chris Porter was coming off his best season with the Blues in 2012-13, scoring eight points and posting a plus-5 rating over 29 games. However, the Blues didn't see much upside in keeping the 29-year-old Porter on the roster over younger forwards with higher ceilings. He could still attract interest from another NHL club before teams finalize their Opening Night rosters.

Blues' Porter Picking Up Slack

News: Chris Porter has been a leading scorer for St. Louis in April with five points -- one goal and five assists.
Analysis: Obviously, the Blues are struggling to score when Chris Porter's one of the leading point-getters. He's worth considering only in very deep formats.

Blues' Porter Replaces McDonald (Flu), Scores Game-Winner

News: Chris Porter scored the lone goal in Sunday's 1-0 win over Detroit.
Analysis: Chris Porter was promoted to the second line with Patrik Berglund and Chris Stewart when it was learned that Andy McDonald (flu) was unavailable. The AHL veteran has raised his profile with the Blues this season, filling in well when injuries hit. Sunday's goal was just his second one on the season and he's not quite ready for fantasy duty, but he'll stick around St. Louis for the rest of the season and into the playoffs, if the Blues qualify.

Blues Re-Sign Porter

News: Chris Porter agreed to terms on a two-year, one-way contract extension, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. The 28-year-old forward immediately rewarded the team's investment by posting two assists in Thursday night's win over Chicago.
Analysis: Chris Porter was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after this season. He has a goal, three assists and is plus-3 in 16 games for the Blues this season. Porter is expected to hang around the Blues for the rest of the season, though it will be as a fourth-liner.

Blues Scratch Porter Thursday

News: Chris Porter was a healthy scratch for Thursday night's game against Los Angeles.
Analysis: Chris Porter had been playing significant minutes because of recent injuries, and played well, before dropping back to fourth-line duty when the Blues started getting their injured forwards back. He's not necessarily known as a grinder, but he does have 40 hits in 14 games played.

Blues' Porter Scores First

News: Chris Porter scored his first goal of the season Tuesday night in St. Louis' 4-2 victory over San Jose. It was his second point since being called up from AHL Peoria eight games ago.
Analysis: Injuries have forced Chris Porter into a third-line role, getting 13:38 of ice time. He's at plus-4 since the callup and has been pretty active of late with eight shots (and a few scoring chances) in the last three games. With Andy McDonald (knee) and Alex Steen (shoulder) close to returning, Porter will be dropped to the fourth line.

Blues' Porter Active Thursday

News: Chris Porter was activated for Thursday night's game against Chicago. He skated on the third line and had five hits in 16:14 of ice time in the Blues' loss to the Blackhawks.
Analysis: The injury bug has wiped out St. Louis' entire third line, preventing Andy McDonald (knee), Alex Steen (shoulder) and Vladimir Tarasenko (concussion) from playing Thursday. Steen is the closest to a return; once he's back, Chris Porter should be shifted to the fourth line.

Blues' Porter Recalled From AHL

News: Chris Porter was recalled from AHL Peoria on Friday.
Analysis: Vladimir Tarasenko was placed on IR with a head injury, and Chris Porter got the call to help out for the time being. The 28-year-old Porter has recorded 10 points (7G, 3A) in 12 AHL games this season, but he has just 16 points (8G, 8A) in 98 career games at the NHL level.

Porter Fills In, Scores In Blues' Win

News: Chris Porter scored his fourth goal of the season and second in as many games Tuesday night in the Blues' 3-1 win at Ottawa.
Analysis: Chris Porter has been getting more ice time, filling in on the third line for Jason Arnott (shoulder) and giving the Blues some much-needed scoring. Arnott's injury is not considered serious, but Porter could remain in an expanded role after the Blues lost Matt D'Agostini to an upper-body injury Tuesday.

News: Chris Porter skated on the Blues' third line during Monday's practice in advance of Tuesday night's game in Ottawa, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Analysis: Chris Porter was activated for the game and played third-line minutes in place of the injured Jason Arnott (shoulder). He has three shots on goal, a blocked shot and a hit in 13:08. Arnott, whose injury is not considered serious at this time, joined the Blues on their current three-game road trip.

Blues Recall Porter

News: Chris Porter has been recalled from AHL Peoria, the Blues' official Twitter feed reports.
Analysis: Chris Porter is returning from a conditioning assignment. In 25 NHL games this season, he has just three points and has averaged fewer than 10 minutes per game. Don't expect him to play a major role.
