Hawks Cut Labrie

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie was waived by the Blackhawks on Monday, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Pierre-Cedric Labrie stood little chance of breaking camp with the Blackhawks, who boast considerable depth, even on the checking line. Expect Labrie to pass through waivers and open the season with AHL Rockford.

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie cleared waivers and was assigned to AHL Syracuse, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.

Lightning's Labrie Placed On Waivers

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie was placed on waivers by the Lightning on Monday, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.

Lightning's Labrie Nearing A Return

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie (upper body) is close to returning to action, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Pierre-Cedric Labrie has been on injured reserve since Nov. 26. He would have been activated Thursday, but head coach Jon Cooper not wanted to go with seven defensemen and 11 forwards Thursday night. While Labrie will remain on injured reserve for another game, it seems he could be activated for Saturday's game against New Jersey.

Kings' Labrie Unlikely To Play Tuesday

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie (upper body) was feeling ill and did not skate Tuesday morning, Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Considering Pierre-Cedric Labrie is still working his way back from an upper-body injury as well, the Lightning likely won't chance using him in the lineup Tuesday against the Capitals now that he's dealing with an illness to boot. The Lightning are expected to have 11 forwards and seven defensemen active for Tuesday's contest.

Bolts' Labrie Resumes Skating

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie (upper body) was skating in a normal jersey during Friday's practice, Eric Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Lightning received a dose of good news for their battered defenseman corps, as injured blueliners Pierre-Cedric Labrie, Radko Gudas and Eric Brewer all skated in full and appear close to a return. Labrie's official status for Saturday's game has yet to be determined, but if he doesn't draw back into the lineup, expect one of the other injured defensemen to do so.

Bolts' Labrie To Miss Tuesday's Game

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie (upper body) will not play Tuesday against the Blue Jackets, Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Pierre-Cedric Labrie was a participant in morning skate, but is still unable to take contact due to an arm issue. He indicated that the best-case scenario would be a return to action Saturday against the Jets, but that's dependent on how much improvement he shows as the week progresses.

Lightning's Labrie Sits Out Monday

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie (upper body) did not take part in Monday's practice, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Pierre-Cedric Labrie is with the team for Tuesday's game in Columbus, but his absence from Monday's session does not bode well for his chances of playing in that contest. If Labrie sits out Tuesday, his next chance to play will come Thursday.

Bolts' Labrie Not Playing Friday

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie (upper body) will not play Friday vs. the Penguins, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: He'll miss his second straight game with the upper-body injury. With zero points and a minus-4 rating in 12 games, Pierre-Cedric Labrie doesn't really provide much of an impact in the fantasy game.

Bolts' Labrie Out Wednesday

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie (upper body) will not play Wednesday vs. the Flyers, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Lightning haven't indicated the extent or nature of Pierre-Cedric Labrie's injury, clouding his potential return to the lineup. With fellow winger Ryan Malone also sidelined Wednesday with an injury, Dana Tyrell was recalled from AHL Syracuse to give the team some added forward depth.

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie suffered an upper-body injury in Monday's game against the Rangers, reports the Tampa Tribune.

Bolts' Labrie: No Points So Far

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie hasn't recorded a point in 10 games so far.
Analysis: He's getting limited ice time, but he's still managed 23 hits. There may be some value in that stat -- only you know if that fits your format.

Bolts' Labrie Impressing At Camp

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie has impressed at the Bolts' camp this preseason and his coach, Jon Cooper, called the 6-3, 236 lb forward "just a bear out there," according to the Tampa Bay Times. He is beating opponents to the pucks along the boards and firing wrist shots that have consistently found twine.
Analysis: The mop-topped redhead is a great story. At 17, he was cut from his junior squad, so he took on a full-time job while finishing school and worked his way back, going from a weekend rec league to Junior A, juniors, the AHL and finally the NHL. He played 19 games for the Bolts last year. He's tough and he has seriously improved his skating, and right now, there's no-one on the Bolts' practice ice who is putting in more effort. He won't help in fantasy, but he's a great story.

Lighting's Labrie Signs One-Year Extension

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie signed a one-year, one-way contract with the Lightning on Monday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Pierre-Cedric Labrie's success at the AHL level hasn't translated to much success in the NHL just yet, but obviously the Lightning are unwilling to give up on the 26-year-old. He put up three points (2G, 1A), 30 penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating in 19 games with Tampa last season.

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie (upper body) is ready to return to the lineup, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lightning's Labrie Sits

Lightning's Labrie (Upper Body) Likely Out Saturday

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie aggravated an upper-body injury and is not expected to play against the Capitals on Saturday, the Tampa Bay Times' Damian Cristodero reports.
Analysis: Pierre-Cedric Labrie was activated from injured reserve Tuesday, but it sounds like he has already suffered a setback. Stay tuned for further updates to confirm that this is in fact an aggravation of Labrie's preexisting injury.

Lightning Activate Labrie From IR

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Tuesday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Pierre-Cedric Labrie has not played since March 24, but he will suit up Tuesday after recovering from his injury. Labrie began seeing extended playing time in March after playing in just three games over the first two months, but it remains to be seen what type of role he will fill upon his return.

Lightning's Labrie Will Open Season On Roster

News: Pierre-Cedric Labrie will be on the 23-man roster for Saturday's season opening game against the Capitals, the Tampa Tribune reports.

Canucks pick up Y. Stastny

News: The Blues have traded C Yan Stastny to the Canucks in return for C Pierre-Cedric Labrie.
Analysis: Stastny has 16 points in 91 NHL games since being drafted in the eighth round back in 2002. He is pretty much just a low-end NHL forward and will continue to have minimal Fantasy value, if any. Labrie is also not worth worrying about.

Canucks send eight to minors

News: The Vancouver Canucks assigned Zack Fitzgerald, Maxime Fortunus, Shaun Heshka, Pierre-Cedric Labrie, Drew MacIntyre, Cory Schneider, Jim Sharrow and Juraj Simek on Wednesday.
Analysis: None of these players are likely to see much time, if any, at the NHL level. Avoid them in all Fantasy leagues.
