Nashville Lands Caron in Trade

News: Sebastien Caron was dealt along with a pair of second-round picks and a third-round pick to the Predators on Friday, the Globe and Mail's James Mirtle reports.
Analysis: The Lightning received Kyle Wilson, Andres Lindback and a seventh-round draft pick in return. Sebastien Caron is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, so Nashville likely had their eyes on the second round picks over the 32-year old goalie.

Bolts' Caron Lit Up

News: Sebastien Caron, making just his second NHL start of the year, allowed five goals on 25 shots in Wednesday's loss to the Canadiens.
Analysis: He'd actually looked good in limited exposure in the approximately 75 minutes of NHL hockey he'd played for the Bolts before this one, but Sebastien Caron is a middling goalie and a victim of circumstance behind the less-than-responsible Tampa defense.

Caron Likely Starter For Lightning Wednesday

News: Sebastien Caron was the first goalie off the ice at Wednesday's morning skate, suggesting that he will start the Lightning's evening game against Montreal, the team's official site reports.,
Analysis: Sebastien Caron is an option if you are digging deep for a stretch-run goalie filler, but Wednesday's outing will be just his second start of the season, so temper your expectations.

Lightning's Caron Returns To NHL With A Win

News: In his first NHL start since playing with the Blackhawks in 2006-2007, Sebastien Caron turned away 26 of Winnipeg's 28 shots on net Saturday. The Lightning went on to win the contest in overtime.
Analysis: Though a net-minder adjusting to the pace of the NHL so quickly after taking his reps in Germany for the past five seasons is certainly impressive, Sebastien Caron should in no way be employed on any fantasy roster at this stage in the game.

Lightning To Start Caron Between Pipes Saturday Vs. Jets

News: Sebastien Caron is expected to start Saturday against Winnipeg, according to Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Times.
Analysis: This will be Sebastien Caron's first NHL start since 2006-07 following several seasons playing overseas. This year with the Iserlohn Roosters of the DEL (German Ice Hockey League), Caron was 25-23-0 with a .932 save percentage and 2.57 GAA. It will be interesting to see how long it takes him to re-acclimate himself to the more demanding NHL style of play.

Bolts To Start Caron Monday Or Tuesday?

News: Sebastien Caron may start one of the Lightning's back-to-back games at the beginning of next week, reports Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Times.
Analysis: It's a tough straw to pull either way -- Philly on Monday or Boston on Tuesday. Sebastien Caron has not played in the NHL in five years and adrenaline will make or break him. Either way, he's not really a viable fantasy option unless you're really pained between the pipes. Really pained.

Caron Joins Tampa Bay

News: Sebastien Caron cleared re-entry waivers Tuesday and joined the Lightning, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: Sebastien Caron's last extended run in the NHL in 2005 resulted in an 8-9-5 record and a 3.98 GAA. It's not likely that he'll have a positive impact if/when he sees the ice.

Bolts Sign Former NHLer Caron To Mind Net

News: Sebastien Caron, who has been playing in Germany, has signed a contract with the Lightning, reports NBC Sports.
Analysis: He will have to clear re-entry waivers before he can dress. He last played in the NHL in 2006-07 with the Ducks and his signing will allow the Bolts to return Dustin Tokarski to the AHL. He'll team up with Dwayne Roloson to get the team to season's end.

Caron reassigned to minors

News: Ducks G Sebastien Caron, who appeared in just one game for the Ducks after being recalled from American League affiliate Portland, Maine, on Dec. 30, was reassigned to the Pirates on Thursday.
Analysis: It is now safe to cut Caron in all Fantasy leagues. He will only be back up if one of Anaheim's goalie go do with injury, again.

Caron replaces Ilya Bryzgalov

News: Ilya Bryzgalov allowed four goals on 13 shots in Tuesday's game against the Blues before being pulled midway through the second period of Sebastien Caron.
Analysis: Caron played pretty well, but he is likely heading back for the minor leagues shortly with Jean-Sebastien Giguere nearing a return from a groin injury.

Caron dresses as backup

News: Ducks G Sebastien Caron, acquired Thursday in a minor-league trade with the Chicago Blackhawks organization and recalled Saturday from American League affiliate Portland, Maine, dressed as the backup to rookie G Michael Wall on Sunday.
Analysis: Caron is merely a stopgap for the Ducks as two of their top goalies recover from injury. He will not be of much Fantasy help for long.

Anaheim trades for G Caron

News: The Anaheim Ducks traded minor-league C Pierre Parenteau and D Bruno St. Jacques to the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday for G Sebastien Caron, LW Chris Durno and RW Matt Keith.
Analysis: Caron will give the Ducks organization some depth with Ilya Bryzgalov (groin) and Jean-Sebastien Giguere (groin) nursing injuries, but Michael Wall is ahead of him on the organizational depth chart. Caron will start out his Anaheim career in the AHL.

Caron assigned to Norfolk

News: Sebastien Caron was assigned to Norfolk of the AHL on Tuesday, as the team is expected to activate Nikolai Khabibulin (finger) from injured reserve to return on Thursday at Phoenix.
Analysis: Caron might be back if either the 'Bulin Wall or Brian Boucher suffers a long-term injury, but he has very little Fantasy appeal.

Caron gets first win

News: Sebastien Caron stopped 24 shots in his debut in goal for Chicago on Friday in a 3-1 win over the Blues.
Analysis: The Blackhawks signed Caron as a free agent on Aug. 8 and recalled him on Oct. 22 from Norfolk. Nikolai Khabibulin is expected back any day and that could mean Caron could be sent down again. There is no need to add Caron to Fantasy teams just yet.

Boucher or Caron on Friday

News: According to chicagoblackhawks.com, goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin, who has missed six games in a row with a broken finger, might not return until Sunday's game against Columbus.
Analysis: If so, Yawney will have to decide between Boucher and backup Sebastien Caron in goal against St. Louis Friday. Despite a respectable 3.38 goals-against average, Boucher is 0-7-1 and still seeking his first win since playing with Calgary in February. Caron has yet to appear in a game since being recalled Oct. 22 from Norfolk of the AHL. Obviously, Boucher is the better play in Fantasy leagues, despite being winless, if he's getting starts over Caron.

G Caron might be the backup

News: Patrick Lalime is expected to have back surgery on Friday and he will be sidelined anywhere between four and 12 weeks while recovering. He was already recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament which ended his 2005-06 season prematurely.
Analysis: With Lalime on the shelf, the backup job to starter Nikolai Khabibulin will be a battle between Brian Boucher and Sebastien Caron. In any event, neither Boucher or Caron are not worthy of any Fantasy consideration.

Caron signs with the Blackhawks

News: Sebastien Caron signed a contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. Terms of the deal are undisclosed.
Analysis: Caron will battle with Patrick Lalime for the backup job in Chicago to starter Nikolai Khabibulin.

Caron shuts out the Islanders

News: Sebastien Caron stopped all 29 shots he faced in Friday's game at N.Y. Islanders to pick up his fourth-career shutout.
Analysis: Despite the impressive performance, Caron's Fantasy value remains minimal. He might get another on Sunday afternoon against the Devils, however.

Caron stops all eight shots

News: Sebastien Caron stopped all eight shots he faced in Wednesday's game against the Panthers after replacing an ineffective Marc-Andre Fleury midway through the second period.
Analysis: Caron might be rewarded with a start in Pittsburgh's next game on Friday at N.Y. Islanders, but his Fantasy value remains minimal.

Caron takes it on the chin

News: Sebastien Caron allowed five goals on 41 shots in Wednesday's game at Washington to lose in a rare start.
Analysis: Caron was unable to get it done against one of the weaker teams in the league. He is not a recommended Fantasy starter in any format unless Marc-Andre Fleury suffers a long-term injury.

Sebastien Caron allows four goals

News: Caron allowed four goals on just 14 shots on Sunday at Nashville before being pulled by coach Michel Therrien early in the second period in favor of Marc-Andre Fleury.
Analysis: Caron is not worth using in most Fantasy leagues until he starts performing more consistently.

Caron recalled from the AHL

News: Sebastien Caron (quadriceps) is healthy and has been recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL on Wednesday.
Analysis: Caron was 5-3-3 with a 3.95 GAA in 13 games before suffering an injury and then returning to the AHL. He will serve as a backup to Marc-Andre Fleury as long as the club decides to keep him around.

Caron back in the minors

News: Sebastien Caron is back with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL after clearing waivers earlier in the week.

Caron leaves Wednesday's game

News: Sebastien Caron left Wednesday's game at Atlanta with about three minutes to go in the third period due to a strained left quadriceps.
Analysis: Caron's status is uncertain. If he has a long-term injury, it is likely the Penguins will recall Marc-Andre Fleury from the AHL to take his roster spot.
