New Jersey's Havlat To Sit

News: Martin Havlat is slated to be a scratch Tuesday against the Sabres, according to Tom Gulitti of The Record.
Analysis: With Stephen Gionta set to return to the New Jersey lineup, Martin Havlat -- who has notched 14 points in 37 games -- will take a seat on Tuesday night.

Devils' Havlat Gets Point In Third Straight

News: Martin Havlat racked up an assist and three shots on goal in Monday's win over the Sharks.
Analysis: Martin Havlat has notched a point in three straight games, which qualifies as his longest stretch of production on the season. With just 12 points, a minus-10 rating, and seemingly, a litany of injury concerns, Havlat isn't someone worth investing heavily in.

Devils' Havlat (Illness) To Be Available Thursday

News: Martin Havlat (illness) will be available for Thursday's game against the Bruins, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: An illness forced Martin Havlat out of Tuesday's game with the Sabres, but he showed enough improvement Wednesday morning to get in a skate on his own. That proved to be sufficient for the Devils to sign off on his return, so look for him to slot back into the lineup after the brief absence. Havlat has three goals and nine points in 24 games this season.

Devils' Havlat Out Tuesday

News: Martin Havlat (illness) will not play Tuesday against the Sabres, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: While Martin Havlat will sit out Tuesday, that may be the extent of his absence, as he was at least able to skate on his own Tuesday. If he can practice Wednesday as expected and avoid any setbacks over the next couple days, he should be on track to return for New Jersey's next game Thursday.

Devils' Havlat Misses Morning Skate

News: Martin Havlat (illness) did not join the team for it's morning skate on Tuesday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat has been confirmed to have the flu, but there was still a possibility that he'd be able to return for Tuesday's contest against the Sabres. At this point, that appears unlikely, but he could return to action for Thursday's game against the Bruins.

Devils' Havlat Has Illness Recurrence Monday

News: Martin Havlat had a recurrence of his flu overnight and didn't practice Monday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat's initial illness has now been confirmed as the flu, and it appears his status for Tuesday's game against the Sabres could be up in the air due to the recurrence. The team should provide an update on his status prior to the opening faceoff, however. If he is unable to go, his next chance to play will be Thursday against the Bruins.

Devils' Havlat (Illness) Set To Play Friday

News: Martin Havlat (illness) will be activated from IR and return to the lineup Friday against the Canadiens, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat was unavailable for over a week with the illness, though he was never officially diagnosed with the mumps virus that had afflicted several other players on the team. He resumed practicing Tuesday and took part in line rushes during Friday's morning skate, so it would seem reasonable to expect Havlat to see close to his usual 14 minutes of action.

Devils' Havlat Not Ready To Play Wednesday

News: Martin Havlat (illness) will not return to the lineup Wednesday against the Red Wings, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: There was some optimism that Martin Havlat would slot back into the lineup after he was able to log a full practice Tuesday, but the Devils decided he could benefit from a little extra time to regain stamina. He'll have strong odds of returning to action over the weekend, when the Devils will host back-to-back games against the Canadiens and Flyers.

Devils' Havlat (Illness) Practicing Tuesday

News: Martin Havlat (illness) participated in Tuesday's practice, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat has not played in a game since Dec. 20 while dealing with a non-mumps-related illness. His participation in Tuesday's practice indicates that he may be ready to return for Wednesday's game in Detroit.

Devils' Havlat Ruled Out For Saturday

News: Martin Havlat (illness) will not play Saturday against the Rangers, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat received a bit of good news when his tests for the mumps virus came back negative, but he's still not quite back to 100 percent after battling a nasty flu. He was at least able to skate Saturday morning, which bodes well for his chances of being available for the Devils' next game Monday versus Pittsburgh.

Devils' Havlat Tests Negative For Mumps

News: Martin Havlat's test results for the mumps have come back negative, but he will be unavailable for Saturday's game against the Rangers, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat is still dealing with a virus that will keep him out of Saturday's game at a minimum, making his next eligible return date Monday against the Penguins. The Devils will go into Saturday with a maximum of 12 healthy forwards, though it's possible the team will add someone before the game.

Devils Place Havlat On IR

News: The Devils placed Martin Havlat on IR on Friday due to illness.
Analysis: While Martin Havlat's test results for the mumps came back negative, the veteran right winger will miss Saturday's contest against the Rangers. Havlat will be eligible to return Monday against the Penguins.

Devils' Havlat Unavailable Tuesday

News: Martin Havlat (illness) will be unavailable for Tuesday's game against the Hurricanes, Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat was tested for the mumps Monday but hasn't received the test results yet. The team won't take any chances with the virus that has been passed around the league this season, and will next be able to return Saturday against the Rangers.

Devils' Havlat Tested For Mumps Monday

News: Martin Havlat missed Monday's practice while undergoing testing for the mumps virus, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat and Patrik Elias were both feeling ill before Monday's practice, and given that teammate Adam Larsson had just recently returned from a long struggle with the virus, the Devils weren't going to take any chances. The team should reveal the results of the tests for both players Tuesday, but neither is a guarantee to suit up later in the evening against the Hurricanes even if both test negative for the virus.

Devils' Havlat Will Play Monday

News: Martin Havlat (lower body) will play Monday against the Hurricanes, Tom Gulitti of the Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat will return to action after sitting out the last three games with the injury. The oft-injured winger has recorded two goals and four assists in 14 games on the season.

Devils' Havlat Could Play Monday

News: Martin Havlat (lower body) travelled with the team on their road trip to Carolina.
Analysis: Martin Havlat has missed the last three games with a lower body injury, but could be in the lineup Monday night. He'll need to be activated off IR in order to be put back on the roster, so keep an eye out for a move to confirm that he'll play.

Devils Place Havlat On IR

News: Martin Havlat (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: The IR move is retroactive to Nov. 29, so in addition to missing Thursday's game against the Maple Leafs, Martin Havlat won't be available over the weekend against the Capitals. Havlat is eligible to his thereafter, but the Devils have yet to issue a timetable for his return.

Devils' Havlat (Lower Body) To Miss Road Trip

News: Martin Havlat is dealing with a lower-body injury and it will cause him to miss the team's two-game road trip this week, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat was on injured reserve earlier in the month with a lower-body injury, but it's unclear whether the newest issue is related. He will miss the two upcoming games at a minimum, slating his earliest possible return for Saturday against the Capitals.

Devils Activate Havlat

News: Martin Havlat (lower body) was activated from injured reserve Tuesday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: After skating in the morning with no complications, it appears Martin Havlat will return to the lineup Tuesday against Minnesota after a nine-game absence. Ryane Clowe (head) was placed on injured reserve to clear the way for Havlat's addition to the active roster.

Devils' Havlat Skates Tuesday

News: Martin Havlat (lower body) skated Tuesday morning, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat was the only New Jersey player to take part in any on-ice activities in the morning, after the team dropped a 4-2 decision to the Bruins on Monday. The winger had been considered a game-time decision for the Devils before he was ultimately scratched, but could be called upon to rejoin the lineup Tuesday to afford another forward some rest.

Devils' Havlat Out Monday

News: Martin Havlat (lower body) will not play Monday against the Bruins, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: The winger will be replaced in the lineup by Jordan Tootoo, but Martin Havlat is still considered close; he could be back for Tuesday's game against the Wild.

Devils' Havlat Could Play Monday

News: Martin Havlat (lower body) is a game-time decision for Monday's game against the Bruins, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: The perennially injured winger practiced with the team Sunday. He was decently productive when healthy, recording a goal and two assists in five games, and could be valuable if he can manage to stay healthy.

Havlat (Lower Body) Practices Sunday

News: Martin Havlat practiced with the team Sunday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat has been out since Oct. 23 with a lower-body injury, but his presence at practice suggests he is nearing a return. His next opportunity to return will come Monday against the Bruins, and his return could be needed with Adam Henrique and Ryan Clowe's status unclear.

Devils Rule Havlat Out For Next Two Games

News: Martin Havlat (lower body) will miss at least two more games for the Devils, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat recently resumed skating on his own, but because he's not yet at the point where he can practice, the Devils won't bring him along on their trip to St. Louis on Thursday or Detroit on Friday. The forward has been out since Oct. 21 with the injury and isn't believed to be far away from a return.

Devils' Havlat Misses Practice

News: Martin Havlat (undisclosed) did not practice Monday, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat missed Saturday's game against the Senators as well, and is apparently dealing with a few injuries. The winger has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, and although he's expected to be back soon, it's not a good sign that he's already banged up once again.
