Devils Activate Havlat

News: Martin Havlat (lower body) was activated from injured reserve Tuesday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: After skating in the morning with no complications, it appears Martin Havlat will return to the lineup Tuesday against Minnesota after a nine-game absence. Ryane Clowe (head) was placed on injured reserve to clear the way for Havlat's addition to the active roster.

Devils' Havlat Skates Tuesday

News: Martin Havlat (lower body) skated Tuesday morning, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat was the only New Jersey player to take part in any on-ice activities in the morning, after the team dropped a 4-2 decision to the Bruins on Monday. The winger had been considered a game-time decision for the Devils before he was ultimately scratched, but could be called upon to rejoin the lineup Tuesday to afford another forward some rest.

Devils' Havlat Out Monday

News: Martin Havlat (lower body) will not play Monday against the Bruins, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: The winger will be replaced in the lineup by Jordan Tootoo, but Martin Havlat is still considered close; he could be back for Tuesday's game against the Wild.

Devils' Havlat Could Play Monday

News: Martin Havlat (lower body) is a game-time decision for Monday's game against the Bruins, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: The perennially injured winger practiced with the team Sunday. He was decently productive when healthy, recording a goal and two assists in five games, and could be valuable if he can manage to stay healthy.

Havlat (Lower Body) Practices Sunday

News: Martin Havlat practiced with the team Sunday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat has been out since Oct. 23 with a lower-body injury, but his presence at practice suggests he is nearing a return. His next opportunity to return will come Monday against the Bruins, and his return could be needed with Adam Henrique and Ryan Clowe's status unclear.

Devils Rule Havlat Out For Next Two Games

News: Martin Havlat (lower body) will miss at least two more games for the Devils, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat recently resumed skating on his own, but because he's not yet at the point where he can practice, the Devils won't bring him along on their trip to St. Louis on Thursday or Detroit on Friday. The forward has been out since Oct. 21 with the injury and isn't believed to be far away from a return.

Devils' Havlat Misses Practice

News: Martin Havlat (undisclosed) did not practice Monday, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat missed Saturday's game against the Senators as well, and is apparently dealing with a few injuries. The winger has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, and although he's expected to be back soon, it's not a good sign that he's already banged up once again.

Devils' Havlat Out Again Saturday

News: Martin Havlat (undisclosed) will not play Saturday against the Senators, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat will end up sitting out both ends of the Devils' weekend back-to-back, after coach Pete DeBoer acknowledged Friday that the forward was felled by "a couple of things." He's still viewed as day-to-day and is generally expected to reenter the lineup at some point next week.

Devils' Havlat Dealing With Undisclosed Injury

News: Though Martin Havlat has recently missed a game due to facial cuts, coach Pete DeBoer attributed his absence from Friday's tilt with the Stars to an undisclosed injury, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: DeBoer noted that Martin Havlat was dealing with "a couple of other things" beyond the facial cuts, but declined to elaborate further. At any rate, he'll step out of the lineup for the second time in three games, with Damien Brunner slotting in on the second line in his stead.

Devils' Havlat (Face) Out Friday

News: Martin Havlat (face) is out for Friday's game, the Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: His status for Saturday is not yet known, but he should be considered day-to-day for now. The cuts to his face he suffered last week are still causing discomfort for him when he wears a helmet.

Devils' Havlat Doubtful To Play Friday

News: Martin Havlat (face) appears doubtful to play Friday against the Stars, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Though Martin Havlat returned to the lineup Tuesday after painful cuts on his face forced him to sit out the Devils' previous game, it sounds like the forward might have suffered a setback in his return. He's been absent for practice for each of the last two days, and barring some quick healing overnight, it looks like he'll be in the press box Friday night.

Devils' Havlat Sits Out Practice Thursday

News: Martin Havlat did not take part in Thursday's practice, The Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: The reason for Martin Havlat's absence was not provided, so it puts into question his availability for the Devils' next game Friday. Expect an update on his status prior to the beginning of Friday's matchup with the Stars.

Devils' Havlat To Play Tuesday

News: Martin Havlat (face) will return to the lineup Tuesday against the Rangers.
Analysis: Martin Havlat was held out of Saturday's lineup to receive additional time to recover from the cuts he suffered to his face last Thursday, and it appears he's healed well over the past few days. Tuomo Ruutu will head to the press box to accommodate the return of Havlat, who will serve as the second-line right winger.

Devils' Havlat Practices

News: Martin Havlat (face) practiced in a full face mask Monday, Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat took part in Saturday's pregame warm-ups, but didn't end up playing against the Capitals. His presence at practice suggests he'll be available for Tuesday's matchup with the Rangers.

Devils' Havlat Looks To Be Out Saturday

News: Martin Havlat (facial lacerations) was on the ice for pregame warmups but doesn't appear to be in the Devils' lineup Saturday against the Capitals, NHL.com's Mike Morreale reports.
Analysis: Both Martin Havlat and Damien Brunner were set to take part in the pregame skate, but it was Brunner who participated in line rushes while Havlat did not. It makes sense for the Devils to take a cautious approach with Havlat while he waits for his cuts to heal a little more. He should be ready to play Tuesday against the Rangers.

Devils' Havlat Upgraded To Game-Time Decision

News: Martin Havlat (facial lacerations) will be a game-time decision Saturday against the Sharks, NHL.com's Mike Morreale reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat was considered doubtful to play Saturday after he didn't skate with the New Jersey regulars during the morning session, but he has convinced coach Pete DeBoer to allow him to take the ice for the pregame warmup. Havlat will wear a full shield to protect his face if he plays Saturday, but if it's determined he can't go, Damien Brunner would step in to replace him.

Devils' Havlat Likely Out Saturday

News: Martin Havlat (facial lacerations) skated with the Devils' expected scratches Saturday morning, suggesting he won't play in the game later that night against the Sharks, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat was wearing a full face shield to protect himself from further aggravation to the cuts on his upper lip and nose. The lacerations should heal up over the next few days, but it appears Damien Brunner will take his spot in the lineup for at least one game.

Devils' Havlat Cleared Of Structural Damage

News: Martin Havlat (facial lacerations) was absent from Friday's practice, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat was cleared of any structural damage to his face after suffering cuts to his nose Thursday night, but he was still in enough pain for the Devils to hold him out of practice. He required a number of stitches to address the cuts, and it's not certain if he'll be ready to go for Saturday's game against the Sharks. Check back on his status after Saturday's morning skate.

Devils' Havlat Leaves With Cut On Nose But Returns

News: Martin Havlat left Thursday's game late in the second period with cuts on the nose and upper lip, but returned in the third, The Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat's injury isn't expected to be anything beyond the cuts, and he isn't expected to miss much if any time because of it. However, his status should be monitored over the next few days in case something more comes out of the situation.

Havlat Scores In Devils' Loss

News: Martin Havlat scored one of New Jersey's two goals in Friday's preseason loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: Martin Havlat has impressed in preseason, showing some of the skill the whole league knows he has. The Devils signed him for $1.5 million and he could end up being a bargain if he produces even slightly better than he did during his final seasons with San Jose. Havlat's health and consistency have been in issues in recent seasons but he will receive top-six minutes with New Jersey. He's worth a flier in deep leagues.

Devils Ink Havlat

News: The Devils signed Martin Havlat to a one-year, $1.5 million deal Tuesday, Renaud Lavoie of Journal de Montreal reports.
Analysis: Martin Havlat struggled through a litany of injuries before being bought out by the Sharks last month, and will try to revitalize his career with a solid season in New Jersey.

Havlat Will Be Bought Out By Sharks

News: The Sharks will use their first compliance buyout on Martin Havlat, who had one year remaining on his contract, reports the Mercury News.
Analysis: Martin Havlat played 48 games last season, scoring 12 goals and ten assists. He never turned out to be the difference-maker the team wanted when they acquired him from Minnesota. GM Doug Wilson announced last month that Havlat would not return to the team, but a trade was still a possibility.

Sharks' Havlat Won't Return With Team

News: Martin Havlat will not return with the Sharks for the 2014-15 season, CSN's Brodie Brazil reports.
Analysis: At 33 years old, Martin Havlat will probably look to catch on elsewhere. He did not see much time on the ice down the stretch for the Sharks.

Sharks' Havlat Active For Game 6

News: Martin Havlat is active for Monday's Game 6 against the Kings, according to David Pollak of the Mercury News.
Analysis: A healthy scratch for the first five games of the series, Martin Havlat will join the lineup Monday, while Mike Brown is a healthy scratch.

Sharks' Havlat A Scratch In Game 5

News: Martin Havlat was again a scratch, as the Sharks lost to the Kings in Game 5 Saturday.
Analysis: Martin Havlat has been scratched in all five playoff games thus far. With how the Sharks offense played in the first three, it didn't seem likely that we would see Havlat in the first round. However, the team has struggled to produce offense in the last two games and it's possible Havlat may get a chance soon if the struggles continue.
