Preds Sign Jackman To Two-Year Deal

News: Barret Jackman signed a two-year, $4 million contract with the Predators on Wednesday, Adam Vingan of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: After 12 years in St. Louis, Barret Jackman will join another franchise for the first time in his career. As was the case during his final few seasons with the Blues, Jackman will be suiting up for one of the league's deeper defensemen ranks, as he'll join a Predators roster that includes All-Stars Shea Weber and Roman Josi and promising youngsters Ryan Ellis and Seth Jones. Those four players figure to shoulder most of the offensive burden from the blue line, leaving Jackman to do what he does best -- agitating opposing forwards and providing sound decision-making in front of his own net.

Blues' Jackman Likely A Scratch

News: Barret Jackman will likely be a healthy scratch for Tuesday's game against the , Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Robert Bortuzzo was surprisingly paired with Petteri Lindbohm on the third line at Tuesday's morning skate, indicating that Barret Jackman will miss a game for the first time this season. It may just be that the Blues want their 34-year-old blueliner to get a rest.

Blues' Jackman Picks up Assist In Loss

News: Barret Jackman picked up an assist Saturday in a 4-2 loss to the Penguins. He was minus-1, took one shot, and registered two hits and a blocked shot in the contest.
Analysis: This was Barret Jackman's first point in over a month. He contributes value with his defensive play, especially blocked shots where he ranks right around 50th in the NHL.

Jackman's Two Points Help Blues Tuesday

News: Barret Jackman collected a pair of assists in Tuesday's win over the Oilers.
Analysis: He's not known as an offensive contributor, but for what it's worth, Barret Jackman's 12 points in 43 games put him on pace to hit 20 for the first time since the 2008-09 season. His fantasy value, such as it is, stems from his contributions in PIM and blocked shots.

Blues' Jackman Gets Assist, 5 PIM In Win

News: Barret Jackman recorded an assist and five PIM in Saturday's win over the Hurricanes.
Analysis: It's the first point since the middle of December for the 33-year-old, a drought that isn't all that atypical. Barret Jackman's standing as a third-pairing defender primarily tasked with keeping his goalie clean won't present many scoring opportunities.

Blues' Jackman Pots First

News: Barret Jackman scored his first goal of the year Thursday, a first-period tally in a 6-3 win over the Islanders. He added an assist and went plus-3 with three shots on goal, two blocks and a hit over just 15:42 of ice time.
Analysis: Barret Jackman's not known for his offense, but he has a three-game point streak going currently and is plus-7 in that span. As the 33-year-old sees intermittent ice time and has historically lacked in offensive production, he retains fairly minimal fantasy value even in leagues that count defensive stats like hits and blocked shots, where he provides solid, but non-elite production.

Blues' Jackman Picks Up Assist In Win

News: Barret Jackman picked up his second assist in as many games Monday in a win over the Rangers. He was plus-1 with two PIM, a hit and a blocked shot in the contest.
Analysis: Barret Jackman is a not an offensive defenseman, so the points are a bonus. He does play a physical game, with his typically solid hit and block totals making him useful in leagues that count those statistics.

Blues' Jackman Registers First Point Of 2014-15

News: Barret Jackman collected his first point of the season Saturday against the Avalanche, assisting on one of Vladimir Tarasenko's two goals on the evening.
Analysis: Barret Jackman is regarded as a defensively-responsible blueliner, but his involvement on offense has been virtually nonexistent throughout his career. He'll pick up some blocked shots and hits with more regularity, but he won't post totals overwhelming enough to win those categories for fantasy owners.

Jackman Quietly Having Strong Season In St. Louis

News: The Blues' Barret Jackman has experienced an offensive surge with seven points in the last 18 games.
Analysis: Since January 2nd the Blues elder statesman has three goals and four assists to go along with a plus-6 rating. The Olympic break is coming at a great time for the battered blue liner and he could be an excellent pick up in deeper leagues.

Jackman Having Quiet Season In St. Louis

News: Barret Jackman's play is solid defensively so far but he has only three assists on the season.
Analysis: Unless you are solid on points but seriously struggling in plus/minus, Barret Jackman is not much of an option. Due to great depth on St. Louis' defense, he isn't posting his typical 20 minutes of ice time either.

Analysis: Barret Jackman has been a full participant in practice the last two days and will three more days to go still before the Blues play another game, he's in no danger of missing further action. Aside from the suspended Maxim Lapierre, the Blues should have a completely healthy roster once they resume play.

Blues' Jackman Out With Upper-Body Injury

News: Barret Jackman will sit out Friday's game against the Jets with an upper-body injury, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Jeremy Rutherford reports.
Analysis: Barret Jackman saw 17:50 of ice time in Thursday's shootout win over the Blackhawks but evidently obtained the injury at some point during the contest. With the Blues not holding practice Saturday, coach Ken Hitchcock feels that Jackman will be close to 100 percent by the time Sunday rolls around.

Blues' Jackman (Ankle) Sitting Saturday But Looking Good For Playoffs

News: Barret Jackman (ankle) is likely healthy enough to play Saturday, though he will still be held out of the lineup, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Jeremy Rutherford reports.
Analysis: The implication is that Barret Jackman would suit up if it were a playoff game, and that bodes well for his chances of returning for Game 1. The Blues feel no need to rush him back for Saturday's regular season finale.

News: Barret Jackman's ankle injury is not serious, but he'll sit out Thursday's game against the Flames as a precaution, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Barret Jackman missed the entire third period of Tuesday's game against the Avalanche, so he'll get the game off to ensure he's fully healthy for the playoffs. Kris Russell will fill his spot on the blue line Thursday.
