Analysis: Chris Kelly, who returned to the Bruins' forward mix Friday after missing two games, brings reliability and leadership to the table, but with two goals and eight points in 22 games to date, he's only an option in deeper fantasy formats.

News: Chris Kelly (upper body) is expected to be in the Bruins' lineup for Friday's game vs. Winnipeg.
Analysis: After missing the Bruins' previous two games, the veteran forward should suit up for Boston's Friday night match-up against the Jets. Chris Kelly will likely resume his role centering Reilly Smith and Seth Griffith on the Bruins' third line.

Bruins' Kelly Could Return

News: Chris Kelly (upper body), who practiced again Thursday, has a chance to rejoin the Bruins' lineup Friday against the Jets, the team's official site report.
Analysis: Per coach Claude Julien, if the Bruins trainers give the veteran forward the green light, there is "a good chance" that Chris Kelly -- who has two goals and eight points in 21 games to date -- will return to the Boston lineup Friday night.

Bruins' Kelly Progressing

News: Chris Kelly (unspecified injury) was on the ice Thursday for the second straight day.
Analysis: The veteran forward is thus a candidate to return to action Friday against the Jets, though on Wednesday coach Claude Julien noted that the Bruins will "take it day-by-day" with Chris Kelly, the team's official site reports.

Bruins' Kelly Back At Practice

News: Chris Kelly (undisclosed) was back at practice Wednesday.
Analysis: Chris Kelly, who had missed the Bruins' previous two games with an injury, looked to be a full participant in the session and was centering the team's third line. He figures to be on tap for a return to the lineup Friday versus the Jets, as was intimated when the Bruins sent Alexander Khokhlachev back to the minors a day earlier.

Bruins' Kelly Remains Sidelined

News: It's unclear when Chris Kelly, who missed his second straight game Monday with an undisclosed injury, will return to action, according to the Boston Herald.
Analysis: "I don't think there's a specific timetable," coach Claude Julien noted with regard to the veteran forward's status. "It's not three-to-four weeks, four-to-six weeks, that much I can tell you. That's why we can only say day-to-day, I guess, at this point." With that in mind, it doesn't look like Chris Kelly will play Friday against the Jets, at a minimum. We'll let you know if that assessment changes.

Bruins' Kelly Won't Play Monday

News: Chris Kelly (undisclosed) will not play Monday against the Penguins, Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Chris Kelly missed morning skate, so Monday night's absence was expected. His next opportunity to get on the ice will be against the Jets on Friday, although coach Claude Julien said that he doesn't know when Kelly will be able to make a comeback.

Bruins 'Don't Know' How Long Kelly Will Be Out

News: Bruins coach Claude Julien said after Saturday's loss to Montreal that he is not sure how long Chris Kelly (undisclosed) will be out of the lineup, CSNNE.com reports.
Analysis: Julien's post-game comments didn't seem particularly encouraging for Chris Kelly. "I don't know, I really don't know," Julien said. "I could say day-to-day, but we don't know, we don't know right now." With Brad Marchand on injured reserve and David Krejci battling a lingering lower-body injury, the Bruins could use Kelly as soon as possible, but it seems that he could be out a while.

Bruins' Kelly Will Not Play Saturday

News: Chris Kelly (undisclosed) will not play Saturday against the Canadiens, Renaud Lavoie of Journal de Montreal reports.
Analysis: There's no word on what's wrong with Chris Kelly, but considering he was filling in for David Krejci (undisclosed) as the team's top-line center, the Bruins figure to be shallow down the middle for the foreseeable future.

Bruins' Kelly Tallies Goal In Defeat

News: Chris Kelly tallied his second goal of the season in Thursday's loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: Chris Kelly wasn't expected to offer much on the offensive end coming into the season for the Bruins, but he's been a driving force for their offense in the early going. The goal boosted his point streak to five games, and his seven points and plus-4 rating are tied for the team lead.

Bruins' Kelly: Three-Game Point Streak

News: Chris Kelly's point streak stands at three games and four assists after he picked up a helper in Saturday's win over the Sabres.
Analysis: He seems to clicking with Carl Soderberg and Loui Eriksson right now, and that line is providing the Bruins with some much-needed secondary offense while the team works to get into a groove this season.

Bruins' Kelly Notches Two Points

News: Chris Kelly contributed a pair of assists and went plus-2 in Thursday's loss to Montreal.
Analysis: Fine work by Chris Kelly, who's notched four points in six games so far -- a dramatically higher rate than what we've come to expect from him. Don't be surprised if he ends up falling into a lengthy slump.

Bruins' Kelly Recovering Well From Back Surgery

News: Chris Kelly (back) is satisfied with how he's recovered from offseason back surgery and expects to be available for training camp.
Analysis: Chris Kelly has been skating since July and has received clearance to endure contact, suggesting he'll enter the 2014-15 campaign at full health. The 33-year-old is expected to slot in on the Bruins' third line once again, providing most of his utility on the penalty kill rather than as a centerpiece of the offense.

News: Chris Kelly underwent surgery on a herniated disc in his back Friday, Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: No setbacks were reported during the procedure, but expect Chris Kelly to rest for a bit before beginning the rehab process. Expect Kelly to be good to go for training camp if he does not encounter bumps along his recovery path.

Bruins' Kelly To Have Herniated Disc Repaired

News: Chris Kelly is slated to have surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back that he sustained on April 8, the Boston Herald reports.
Analysis: The report notes that Chris Kelly's recovery period following the surgery will be about 4-6 weeks, a timetable that ensures that he is on track to be good to go well before the Bruins take the ice again. Kelly finished up the 2013-14 season with 18 points in 57 games, while working primarily on the team's third line.

Bruins' Kelly Will Likely Undergo Back Surgery

News: Chris Kelly will likely require surgery on his sore back this summer, CSN's Joe Haggerty reports.
Analysis: Chris Kelly put off surgery in case he had a chance to return during the postseason, but he is now open to going under the knife with the Bruins eliminated from the playoffs. If Kelly does end up undergoing the procedure, he is expected to be ready for the beginning of training camp.

Bruins' Kelly Day-To-Day

News: Chris Kelly, who is day-to-day with a back injury, should be ready to go for the playoffs, according to the Bruins' official site.
Analysis: It appears as though the Bruins will play it safe with Chris Kelly as the regular season concludes this weekend, though with 18 points in 57 games to date, the veteran forward is only of note in deeper formats. During his time with Boston, Kelly has recorded 19 points over 54 postseason contests, so the third-liner could be worth a later dart in playoff pools for those inclined to back the B's.
