Canucks' Sedin Sets Up Vrbata In Preseason Win

News: Daniel Sedin racked up a pair of power-play assists in Friday's preseason win over Calgary.
Analysis: Daniel Sedin's best work Friday came in the final period, where he combined with brother Henrik to setup new linemate Radim Vrbata for his first goal with the Canucks. Sedin is coming off a disappointing 16-goal, 47-point campaign in 2013-14, but is likely to bounce back this season with a former 35-goal scorer on his line. Sedin is nowhere near as bad as we saw this past season, and fantasy goers shouldn't hesitate to draft him in 2014-15. He still possesses all the necessary tools to be an elite fantasy threat.

Canucks' Sedin Avoids Serious Injury

News: Daniel Sedin, who was hit from behind by Calgary's Paul Byron late in the second period of Sunday's season finale, appears to have escaped serious injury, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: Good news, given that Daniel Sedin was stretchered off the ice Sunday after hitting the glass with his head. "I was scared," Sedin acknowledged while addressing the media Monday. "I felt something wasn't right. I couldn't lift my head off the ice. It feels okay today."

Canucks' D. Sedin Leaves Game On Stretcher

News: Daniel Sedin took a hit from behind by Calgary's Paul Byron late in the second period and left the game on a stretcher with a neck brace.
Analysis: Byron was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding Daniel Sedin, who appeared to hit his head against the glass. Sedin was responsive on the ice but lay motionless for an extended period of time. Sedin has a history of concussions and has battled a series of other injuries this season. Sedin had two goals in the first period before leaving in the second period.

Canucks' D. Sedin Snaps Seven-Game Goal Drought

News: Daniel Sedin notched two goals, his 15th and 16th of the season, in the first period Sunday against Calgary to snap a seven-game goal drought and notch his first multi-goal game of the season.
Analysis: Daniel Sedin scored his 15th goal of the season after David Booth's wrist shot deflected off Sedin's body and into the net. Sedin also scored a power play goal on a give-and-go with twin brother Henrik for his 16th. It's his first multi-goal game of the season. The Sedins have played with much more confidence near the end of the season and clearly play their best with one another. Whether or not the Sedins' abysmal production is a one-year anomaly or the sign of a greater decline is up for debate, but given his playmaking ability it's not inconceivable the Sedins have bounce-back seasons next year.

Canucks' D. Sedin Gets Assist In Brother's Return

News: Daniel Sedin picked up an assist as his brother Henrik returned to the lineup in Saturday's win over Los Angeles.
Analysis: Henrik had missed the last four games with a leg injury, but returned on Saturday to help the Canucks keep their slim playoff hopes alive. Daniel has four points in his last five games, and has tallied 14 goals and 30 assists in 69 games on the season. This is far from what we expected this season from Daniel, who's usually known as a point-per-game player.

Canucks' Sedin Assists Kesler In Loss

News: Daniel Sedin assisted on Ryan Kesler's lone Canucks goal in a loss to the Rangers on Tuesday.
Analysis: Daniel Sedin has now tallied three points in his last four games, skating on a solid top line featuring Ryan Kesler and Alex Burrows. Sedin has 14 goals and 43 points in 68 games this season.

Canucks' Sedin Ends 23-Game Goal Drought

News: Daniel Sedin snapped a 23-game goalless drought on Wednesday, scoring his 14th goal of the season in a win over the Wild.
Analysis: It took a while, but finally Daniel Sedin has ended his slump, helping the Canucks to their third straight win. The goal was Sedin's first point in 14 games, exemplifying the struggles he has gone through this season. Wednesday was also only his second game back in the lineup after missing nine games with a hamstring injury. If the Canucks have any chance of making the playoffs, they will need to win all eight of their remaining games, meaning Sedin will need to step it up big time.

Canucks' Sedin Held Pointless In Return

News: Daniel Sedin was held pointless in his return to the lineup on Sunday.
Analysis: While he didn't get on the scoresheet against the Sabres, Daniel Sedin fired four shots on goal and logged 17:52 of ice time. It was his first game back after missing nine with a hamstring injury. The third line was mainly responsible for the Canucks' victory on Sunday, as the trio of Zack Kassian, Shawn Matthias and Brad Richardson combined for nine points in a 4-2 win. Sedin has currently gone 13 straight games without a point.

Canucks' D. Sedin: Expected To Play Sunday

News: Coach John Tortorella said that Daniel Sedin (hamstring) will play Sunday vs. the Sabres.
Analysis: With Daniel Sedin resuming skating for the past week, he'll draw back into the lineup just ahead of the three-week timetable initially established for his injury. His lengthy absence may have already dashed most of the Canucks' playoff hopes, but fantasy owners should still benefit from his services during the final stretch of games. Look for him to be officially activated from injured reserve Sunday morning.

Canucks' Sedin Skates On Friday

News: Daniel Sedin (hamstring) skated on Friday, and GM Mike Gillis doesn't think he is done for the season, Team 1040's Blake Price reports.
Analysis: This is good news for Daniel Sedin fantasy owners, but there is still yet to be an exact timetable for his return. The 33-year-old has missed the team's past five games with a hamstring injury, and is expected to be out at least another week, possibly longer. With news surfacing Friday that Ryan Kesler (knee) will be out for "at least a couple of weeks," the Canucks would love to see Sedin back soon, as the team is currently lacking offense and battling to get into the playoffs.

Canucks Place D. Sedin On IR

News: Daniel Sedin (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
Analysis: As expected, with Daniel Sedin out at least three weeks and possibly longer with the hamstring ailment, he'll land on IR to create roster space. Sedin's injury significantly dampens the playoff prospects of the Canucks, who may have already waved the white flag with the trade of Roberto Luongo to the Panthers on Tuesday in what mostly amounts to a salary dump.

Canucks' D. Sedin Expected To Miss Three Weeks

News: Daniel Sedin is expected to miss the next three weeks with a hamstring injury, Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province reports.
Analysis: With Daniel Sedin possibly missing 10 more games, it wouldn't be surprising to see the team place him on IR to free up a roster spot. The winger had been on a bit of a cold streak recently, but still being one of the better talents in the NHL will definitely be missed on the Canucks' top line. The team recalled Darren Archibald from AHL Utica on Monday to fill in for Sedin while he's sidelined.

Canucks' D. Sedin To Receive MRI Monday

News: Daniel Sedin will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the leg injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Senators, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
Analysis: While Daniel Sedin's injury seems to be a lower-leg concern rather than anything related to his knee, there are fears that he could miss at least three weeks due to the injury, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports. The Canucks will await for the results of Sedin's MRI before officially projecting a timetable for him, but any sort of extended absence would be crippling to the team's playoff hopes. Sedin had seen his productivity wane prior to obtaining the injury, as his 40 points in 63 games represent his lowest per-game scoring total since the 2002-03 campaign.

Canucks' Daniel Sedin Suffers Lower Body Injury

News: The injury that Daniel Sedin suffered Sunday against the Senators is being called a lower-body issue, the Sports Network reports.
Analysis: While the exact nature and severity of Daniel Sedin's injury has yet to be confirmed, he appeared to be having an issue with his left leg -- possibly his hamstring -- before heading to the locker room on Sunday.

Canucks' Daniel Sedin Exits Sunday's Game

News: Daniel Sedin headed to the dressing room during Sunday's game against the Senators due to an unspecified injury.
Analysis: Brad Ziemer of the Vancouver Sun indicated that Daniel Sedin's left leg seemed to bend awkwardly on a Marc Methot hit that he absorbed, but at this stage, the severity of Sedin's issue is unclear.

Canucks' Sedin Held Pointless Once Again

News: Even with his brother Henrik back in the lineup, Daniel Sedin failed to register on the scoresheet Wednesday against the Blues, marking the 10th straight game he has gone without a point.
Analysis: Not only is Daniel failing to put up points, but he also hasn't scored a goal in 20 games. This is beyond disappointing for fantasy owners who were expecting another solid campaign from the 33-year-old. There are some potential positives, though, as Daniel did look good at the Olympics in Sochi, and it appears Henrik is back to full health. There's a light at the end of the tunnel for the struggling winger.

Canucks' Sedin Returns To NHL Action After Sochi

News: Daniel Sedin will return to NHL action on Wednesday after winning a silver medal with Team Sweden at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.
Analysis: Daniel Sedin had a solid outing in Sochi, recording a goal and four assists in six games, while averaging 19:44 of ice time. He was without his brother Henrik at the Olympics, but will have him back in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blues. Henrik had missed eight of Vancouver's last 10 games entering the break, with Daniel struggling mightily in his absence. Daniel only has two points in his last 16 NHL games, and hasn't scored a goal since Dec.30. If the Canucks hope to make the playoffs, the twins will need to step it up big time.

Canucks' Sedin Dishing Out Assists For Sweden

News: Daniel Sedin has dished out three assists in three games with Team Sweden at the 2014 Olympics.
Analysis: Though he is racking up the helpers, Daniel Sedin's goal-scoring troubles seemed to have stuck with him in Sochi. He has currently gone 19 straight games in the NHL without scoring a goal, and hasn't come close to notching one at the Olympics. He only has four shots on goal in his first three games with Sweden, a likely reason he hasn't found twine. Sweden has a bye into the quarterfinals, as they will wait to play the winner of Slovenia vs. Austria.

Canucks' Sedin Logs Assist As Swedes Win

News: Daniel Sedin notched an assist for the Swedish team in Wednesday's defeat of the Czech Republic in the Olympic opener.
Analysis: Daniel Sedin was pointless in his last eight games entering the Olympic break, so it's nice to see him find the scoresheet in Sochi. He played 18:06 against the Czech Republic, but failed to register a shot on goal, going minus-1. His assist came on the power play, where he set-up defenseman Erik Karlsson for one of his two goals. Daniel will be without his brother Henrik (ribs) for the tournament, but should still be a big impact player offensively. Hopefully Daniel can use Sochi to bust out of his ongoing slump in the NHL.

Canucks' D. Sedin: Eight Games Without A Point

News: Daniel Sedin is riding an eight-game pointless streak and hasn't scored a goal in 18 games.
Analysis: With Mike Santorelli (shoulder) sidelined and his brother Henrik troubled by a rib injury for the past couple of weeks, Daniel and the rest of the Canucks' lineup have struggled to generate offense. Perhaps no other team is in need of the upcoming Olympic break more than the scuffling Canucks, who would surely benefit from the added time to heal up from injuries and refocus. It may be a good opportunity for fantasy owners to target Daniel Sedin in a trade while his value remains at its lowest of the season.

Canucks' Sedin Dissappearing Offensively

News: Daniel Sedin failed to register on the scoresheet in Wednesday's loss to Chicago, marking the eighth time in nine games the 33-year-old hasn't collected a point.
Analysis: Daniel Sedin is struggling miserably right now, having gone 14 straight games without scoring a goal. Daniel is on pace for 60 points, which would be his lowest full-season total in a decade. His shooting percentage is currently at a career-low 7.6 percent, a far-cry from 15.4 percent, his total when he won the Art Ross Trophy in 2010-11. He is still tied with currently injured brother Henrik Sedin (ribs/finger) for the team lead in scoring with 40 points, but many wonder if Daniel's days as an elite offensive player in the NHL are over.

Canucks' Sedin Slumping

News: Daniel Sedin only has one point in his last five games.
Analysis: Daniel Sedin only has 40 points in 51 games this season, putting him on pace for his worst offensive campaign since the 2003-2004 season. Sedin remains a valuable fantasy asset, but his days as a top NHL scorer are likely over.

Canucks' Sedin Notches Three Helpers

News: Daniel Sedin picked up three assists against the Ducks on Sunday.
Analysis: With 39 points each on the year, the Daniel Sedin twins are fittingly tied in scoring. Unfortunately, that adds up to somewhat disappointing production for Daniel and Henrik alike, as they've generally been good for a point per game in their careers.

Canucks' Sedin Tallies Two Points Against Flyers

News: Daniel Sedin scored a goal and added an assist in Monday's loss to the Flyers.
Analysis: Daniel Sedin's two-point effort on Monday ended a two-game scoring drought, giving the 33-year-old 35 points in 41 games on the season. In addition to providing offense, Sedin has also helped his fantasy owners with a plus-10 rating on the year. Keep rolling the Swede.

Canucks' Sedin Scores Against Hawks

News: Daniel Sedin scored the game-tying goal in the third period of Friday's game against the Hawks. The Canucks would go on to win 3-2 in a shootout.
Analysis: He and his brother continue to lead the charge for Vancouver as Daniel now has five points over his past five games. He has given his fantasy owners what they could expect this season, collecting 12 goals and 33 points in 38 games.
