Wings' Zetterberg Dishes Assist

News: Henrik Zetterberg registered an assist in a 4-2 win against the Devils on Friday.
Analysis: Henrik Zetterberg has slowed a bit since lighting it up the last part of November, but still has 16 points in 14 games and is a must-start.

Wings' Zetterberg Scores Lone Goal Tuesday

News: Henrik Zetterberg was the only Red Wing to light the lamp Tuesday in a 3-1 loss to Ottawa.
Analysis: Henrik Zetterberg has 15 points in 12 games, and has proven to be one of the more reliable fantasy producers out there.

Wings' Zetterberg Dishes Out Two Assists

News: Henrik Zetterberg dished out a pair of assists in Friday's win over the Kings.
Analysis: That's seven points in three games for Henrik Zetterberg, who has recorded 14 points in 10 games on the season. When he is healthy, Zetterberg is dominant and one of the best in the game. He if he manages to play a full season, expect a 70- to 80-point campaign from the 34-year-old stud.

Wings' Zetterberg Adds Two Helpers Wednesday

News: Henrik Zetterberg picked up two assists in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Capitals.
Analysis: The veteran winger continued his hot start Wednesday, collecting two more points, which moved his season total to 12 through nine games. With Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk both rolling, the Red Wings are proving to once again be a team full of seemingly ageless offensive juggernauts.

Zetterberg Lifts Wings To Comeback Win

News: After a quiet first 57 minutes, Henrik Zetterberg went to work on the Penguins late in the third period Thursday with the Wings trailing 3-1, scoring a goal to spark the comeback and then assisting on the game-tying tally and overtime winner.
Analysis: Game-changing skill is exactly what we expect out of Henrik Zetterberg, and he's been showing that off lately. Over his current four-game point streak, Zetterberg has racked up three goals and six assists. If he can stay healthy, he'll be one of the most productive skaters in the league.

Wings' Zetterberg Dominates Leafs

News: Henrik Zetterberg scored the game's only goal in overtime to lift the Wings to victory over the Leafs on Saturday night.
Analysis: It's actually his first goal of the season. He loves playing the Leafs and has been the difference maker in back-to-back wins over them the last two days. But at 34, his best days are probably behind him. Don't get us wrong -- he's a great play when healthy. But there are more and more risks associated with his game. Dynasty owners need to weigh their options while they still can, and this two-game, five-point outburst will really help showcase his value.

Wings' Zetterberg Dishes Out Four Assists In Win

News: Henrik Zetterberg dished out four assists in Friday's win over Toronto.
Analysis: Henrik Zetterberg was magnificent in the win, also recording a plus-3 rating and a game-high five shots on goal. With five points through four games, Zetterberg is well on his way to another point-per-game season in the Motor City.

Wings' Zetterberg: Healthy Heading Into Camp

News: Coach Mike Babcock relayed that Henrik Zetterberg (foot) said he was "feeling the best he has in years" this offseason, suggesting he'll be a full participant in training camp, NHL.com's Dan Rosen reports.
Analysis: With both Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk missing 37 games apiece last season, the Red Wings were forced to get by with a patchwork forward ranks to so-so results. Now that both players are feeling healthy, the depth chart should enjoy more stability in 2014-15, but don't be surprised if Zetterberg notices a drop in ice time for maintenance purposes as he enters his age-34 season. Still, Zetterberg hasn't had many health issues prior to last season, and managed to supply 48 points over the 45 contests in which he suited up. There's plenty of value to be had in Zetterberg, even as he takes on a more deferential role to emerging wings Gustav Nyquist and Tomas Tatar in the years to come.

Wings' Zetterberg Dealing With Foot Weakness

News: Henrik Zetterberg is dealing with some weakness in his left foot, the Detroit News reports.
Analysis: Henrik Zetterberg's foot is apparently feeling a little weak due to undergoing surgery for a herniated disc in his back, but he's confident he'll be back to normal in time for training camp in the fall. Zetterberg was stellar when healthy, posting 48 points in 45 games during the regular season, and a goal and an assist in two playoff games.

Zetterberg Scores In Detroit Loss

News: Henrik Zetterberg factored into both of Detroit's goals in Saturday's Game 5, series-ending 4-2 loss to Boston in the Atlantic Division semifinals, scoring one and assisting on the other.
Analysis: Henrik Zetterberg returned from his back injury in the Game 4 loss and made a strong effort late in the game to keep Detroit's season alive. Zetterberg's season will mostly be remembered for the time he missed after attempting to play in the Olympics for his native Sweden, but the injury masks a 48-point season in just 45 games for the veteran.

Red Wings' Zetterberg Returns Thursday

News: Henrik Zetterberg (back) will play in Thursday's Game 4 against the Bruins, NHL.com's Dan Rosen reports.
Analysis: Henrik Zetterberg will make his long-anticipated return from a two-month-plus absence in hopes of reviving Detroit's offense in Game 4. While the winger is expected to see limited action, he should provide a jolt to the Red Wings and their fan base.

Red Wings' Zetterberg: Game-Time Decision

News: Henrik Zetterberg (back) has been activated from injured reserve, but is officially listed as a game-time decision for Thursday's Game 4 against the Bruins, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.
Analysis: All indications are that Henrik Zetterberg will return to the lineup after he was a full participant in morning skate, during which he took part in rushes with the top line. He'll visit a doctor for further evaluation on his back injury, but it may just be a formality in order to get the final go-ahead to suit up Thursday.

Red Wings' Zetterberg Back In Thursday

News: Updating a previous report, Henrik Zetterberg (back) has been activated from injured reserve and looks like he'll be in the lineup for Thursday's Game 4 against the Bruins, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.
Analysis: Henrik Zetterberg was a full participant in morning skate, manning a spot on the top line alongside Pavel Datsyuk and Justin Abdelkader. Though he'll likely receive only limited minutes after sitting out the last two months of action, his return should motivate a Red Wings squad that is in desperate need of some offensive firepower.

Red Wings' Zetterberg Reportedly Cleared To Play

News: According to a source close to the Red Wings, Henrik Zetterberg (back) has received clearance to play in Thursday's Game 4, Ken Campbell of The Hockey News reports.
Analysis: The source of the report indicated that Henrik Zetterberg would likely play only "limited minutes," after missing the Red Wings' last 30 games due to the back injury. Even if Zetterberg only skates 10 to 12 minutes, his return would provide a big boost to a struggling Detroit offense that has been stymied the last two games by Boston's physical defense and the work of Tuukka Rask in the net.

Wings' Zetterberg Could Return Thursday

News: Henrik Zetterberg (back) could play in Thursday's Game 4.
Analysis: Henrik Zetterberg hasn't suited up since February 8 due to the back injury, but took part in drills at Wednesday's practice, and could be in the lineup Thursday if his appointment with team doctors goes well. The star center would provide a much needed boost to the Red Wings offense, which has only managed two total goals in the first three games against the Bruins.

Wings' Zetterberg Still Sidelined

News: Henrik Zetterberg (back) plans to practice Thursday.
Analysis: At this stage, Henrik Zetterberg acknowledged Tuesday that he is targeting a return to action in the second round of the NHL playoffs, though we suppose it's within the realm of possibility that he could present a more optimistic estimate if Thursday's practice goes well.

Wings' Zetterberg Still Sidelined

News: Henrik Zetterberg (back) won't play in the first two games of the Red Wings' upcoming playoff series against the Bruins, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: Moreover, while the report indicates that Henrik Zetterberg is slated to participate in the first part of the team's practice on Tuesday, he still isn't likely to be available to suit up until the second round of the playoffs (should Detroit advance that far).

Wings' Zetterberg Doubtful For Start Of Playoffs

News: GM Ken Holland said that Henrik Zetterberg likely wouldn't be ready for at least the early games of the team's first playoff series, Chuck Pleiness of the Macomb Daily reports.
Analysis: Henrik Zetterberg has resumed skating on his own this week, but he still looks to be relatively far away from practicing. Holland said Zetterberg was given about an eight-week recovery timetable after undergoing surgery Feb. 21 to remove part of a disc in his back, with Thursday representing the seven-week current.

Red Wings' Zetterberg To Resume Skating Next Week

News: Henrik Zetterberg (back) is expected to resume skating next week, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
Analysis: Henrik Zetterberg has been kept off the ice since undergoing back surgery Feb. 21, but he is getting close to skating again. Zetterberg will not play again during the regular season, but he could return sometime during the first round of the playoffs if the Red Wings reach the postseason.

Wings' Zetterberg Eyeing Playoff Return

News: Henrik Zetterberg (back) still plans on returning this season, but the Red Wings will need to make the playoffs for that to happen, Marc Antoine Godin of La Presse reports.
Analysis: The recommended eight-week recovery period from Henrik Zetterberg's back surgery would put him out until April 18, which would likely be sometime during the team's first round playoff series. The team currently sits in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, tied with four other teams with 80 points. If they can't squeeze into the playoffs at the end of the regular season, it doesn't seem likely that we'll see Zetterberg in uniform again until next season.

Red Wings' Zetterberg Undergoes Back Surgery

News: Henrik Zetterberg underwent surgery Friday to remove part of a disc in his back, and the Red Wings are optimistic that he will be able to play again this season, MLive.com reports.
Analysis: Red Wings Assistant GM Ryan Martin said the procedure went "very, very well," but Henrik Zetterberg will still need about eight weeks to recover. While he will have a chance to return during the playoffs (if the Red Wings qualify), or just before, fantasy owners should not expect to get much, if any, use out of Zetterberg the rest of the way.

Red Wings' Zetterberg To Be Evaluated Thursday

News: Henrik Zetterberg will fly back to Detroit on Thursday to have his back examined, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: At this point, Henrik Zetterberg has only been ruled out indefinitely with a herniated disc, but Thursday's appointment with doctors should provide a clearer recovery timetable for the winger. Sweden's team doctor previously acknowledged that Zetterberg could miss the rest of the season, but fantasy owners are advised to wait and see what Detroit's doctors have to say before making any major roster decisions.

Red Wings' Zetterberg Could Miss Rest Of Season

News: Swedish team doctor Bjorn Waldeback acknowledged there's a possibility that Henrik Zetterberg (back) could miss the rest of the season, Gregg Krupa of the Detroit News reports.
Analysis: Henrik Zetterberg was ruled out for the rest of the Olympics on Friday, but Red Wings officials have yet to confirm how much time he'll miss with the injury or if he'll be ready to go when NHL play resumes. That being said, Zetterberg has been bothered by chronic back issues since at least 2008, and it appears the latest flare-up of his herniated disc is particularly problematic. Fantasy owners will want to hold steady with Zetterberg until more information about his injury is made available once he's examined in Detroit, but it wouldn't hurt to brainstorm contingency plans in preparation for a long-term absence.

Red Wings' Zetterberg Out For Olympics

News: Henrik Zetterberg (herniated disk) is out for the Olympics and will return to Detroit over the weekend to see a specialist, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: This injury appears worse than the back issues Henrik Zetterberg struggled with earlier in the year and it doesn't look like he'll be back in time to play for the Red Wings out of the Olympic break. GM Ken Holland said there is no timetable for his return, so he will be out awhile.

Red Wings' Zetterberg Could Be Out For Olympics

News: Swedish media reports have circulated suggesting that Henrik Zetterberg (back) will miss the rest of the 2014 Winter Olympics, Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: We'll wait for confirmation from the Swedish team before officially ruling him as out, but things certainly don't sound good for Henrik Zetterberg. A herniated disk prevented Zetterberg from practicing Thursday and required anti-inflammatory treatment. Expect an update on his condition when Sweden plays their next game Friday against Switzerland. He's listed as day-to-day and questionable for the game for the time being.
