Blues' Leopold (Ankle) Back In Lineup

News: Jordan Leopold (ankle) is expected to play Saturday against Colorado but miss Sunday's game against Chicago, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Jordan Leopold returned to the lineup Thursday against the Sabres after missing the previous 18 games, skating 16:44 with just a single shot on goal and no points. It looks like he will play Saturday against the Avs, but he is unlikely to play in back-to-back games following a high ankle sprain, so expect him to sit out Sunday's game against the Blackhawks.

Blues' Leopold To Enter Lineup Thursday

News: Jordan Leopold (illness) will return to the lineup Thursday against the Sabres, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Jordan Leopold has missed 18 consecutive games due to some combination of an ankle injury, illness, and a healthy scratch, but he'll draw back in on the third pairing Wednesday. He's totaled six points in 24 games this season.

Blues' Leopold Won't Return This Week

News: Jordan Leopold (flu) was one of four participants in the Blues' optional practice Monday, but won't play this week, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Analysis: Coach Ken Hitchcock effectively ruled the veteran defenseman out for at least the next three games against Toronto, Minnesota and Dallas. Hitchcock added that he "really liked the second and third pairs yesterday (against Pittsburgh), so I think you're going to see us spending more time looking at that. We really liked it a lot." The second and third pairs consist of Kevin Shattenkirk and Carlo Colaiacovo, along with Roman Polak and Barret Jackman, so as long as they're clicking, the 33-year-old journeyman will likely remain in the press box.

Blues' Leopold (Illness) Out Saturday

News: Jordan Leopold (illness) will not play Saturday against the Flyers.
Analysis: Jordan Leopold managed to return to practice on Friday after missing a few days with the flu, but still won't be ready for Saturday according to Blues coach Ken Hitchcock. He'll likely target a Sunday return against the Penguins.

Blues' Leopold Will Not Play Wednesday

News: Coach Ken Hitchcock said Jordan Leopold (illness) will not play Wednesday vs. the Blackhawks, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Jordan Leopold has put the ankle injury that resulted in an IR stint fully behind him at this point, but Hitchcock said the defenseman still needs a few more days to get back up to full speed following an illness earlier this week. Assuming everything goes well for Leopold in practice Thursday and Friday, look for him to reenter the lineup Saturday vs. the Flyers.

Blues' Leopold Expected Back Wednesday

News: Jordan Leopold (ankle) is expected to make his return to the lineup Wednesday vs. the Blackhawks, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Jordan Leopold had received full clearance from doctors to return to action Monday vs. the Jets, but came down with the flu and will have his return pushed back a game. He's expected to join either Ian Cole or Roman Polak on the third defensive pairing Wednesday, assuming his illness doesn't prove too debilitating.

Blues' Leopold About Two Weeks Away

News: Coach Ken Hitchcock said Jordan Leopold (ankle) is be out for another 10-14 days, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Jordan Leopold typically rotated in and out of the lineup with Ian Cole prior to suffering the injury, so the Blues can probably get by just fine without him for the next two weeks. The 33-year-old has only six points in 24 games on the season.

Blues' Leopold Not Expected To Play This Week

News: Jordan Leopold (ankle) said he doesn't expect to play during the Blues' upcoming road trip, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: While Jordan Leopold acknowledged that he may travel with the team for the trip, he skated in full gear Sunday for the first time since suffering the high-ankle sprain in the final game before the Olympic break. He'll need more time to reintegrate himself back into full practices, and a retroactive move to injured reserve remains a possibility.

Blues' Leopold Practices Sunday

News: Jordan Leopold (lower-body) was back on the ice for practice Sunday, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Jordan Leopold was considered week-to-week before the Olympic break but his status for this week's games was unclear. His presence on the ice gives hope that the defenseman will be ready to play in the team's first game back on February 26.

Blues' Leopold Dealing With Lower Body Injury

News: Jordan Leopold, who is considered week-to-week with a lower-body injury, will be re-evaluated after the Olympic break, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Jordan Leopold's status for the Blues' next game -- on Feb. 26 against the Canucks is thus unclear. The veteran blueliner has registered six points in 24 games this season, numbers that place him off the fantasy radar in most formats.

Blues' Leopold Leaves With Leg Injury

News: Jordan Leopold exited Saturday's game against the Jets with an apparent leg injury, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Jordan Leopold appeared to get tangled up with Zach Bogosian behind the Jets' goal in the first period, limping off to the longer room after leaving the ice. He'll have over two weeks to recover from the injury without missing any action thanks to the upcoming Winter Olympic break.

Blues' Leopold Finally Scores

News: Jordan Leopold potted his first goal over his 22 games this season in Tuesday's shootout loss to Ottawa.
Analysis: He'd been without a point in the last five, and perhaps not coincidentally, the Blues had lost four of those games -- scoring just one goal in each of the losses.

Blues' Leopold Assists Twice

News: Jordan Leopold, playing in just his second game back from a nearly two-month absence due to a hand injury, notched a pair of assists in Tuesday's win over the Oilers.
Analysis: This effort has the active effect of doubling Jordan Leopold's point total on the year from two to four. Unfortunately, he's still sitting on no goals and six assists in 30 games since being traded to St. Louis last year. That's not going to earn him much more than the 17:53 of ice time he received on Tuesday.

News: Jordan Leopold (hand) was activated from injured reserve by the Blues on Friday.
Analysis: Jordan Leopold has been out since early November with a torn ligament in his hand and missed 26 games for St. Louis. He has two points on the season in 13 games and will return to his role on defense for the Blues.

Blues' Leopold Skates With Team Friday

News: Jordan Leopold (hand) was skating with the team during Friday's practice, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: It's another sign of progress for Jordan Leopold, but the blueliner still remains weeks away from a return. He has yet to test out the strength of his hand in shooting and passing drills, which is the biggest obstacle he'll have to overcome in returning from the injury.

Blues' Leopold Progressing From Hand Injury

News: Jordan Leopold (hand) has been able to increase his skating and conditioning activities in recent days, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Jordan Leopold suffered ligament damage to his hand in early November and is still wearing a splint. He'll be re-evaluated by doctors after Christmas, and if he checks out well, he could incorporate more stick-gripping, shooting and passing work into his regimen.

Blues' Leopold To Miss Two Months

News: Jordan Leopold will need surgery to repair a ligament in his hand and is expected to miss at least eight weeks, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Jordan Leopold has played in 13 games this season for the Blues, recording two assists over that stretch. He sustained the hand injury over the weekend and was scheduled for evaluation Monday. The results were not solid and he will need surgery to fix the hand issue.

Blues' Leopold May Have Significant Injury

News: Jordan Leopold's hand injury could be significant, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The team won't know the true extent of the injury until after a re-evaluation Monday, but it sounds like Jordan Leopold could miss a week or more. Ian Cole stepped into the lineup Saturday and played well, so he figures to fill in until Leopold's healthy.

Blues Sign Leopold

News: The Blues have signed Jordan Leopold to a two-year contract worth a total of $4.5 million, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: Jordan Leopold, who recorded 10 points in 39 games overall, notched two assists in 15 games for the Blues after joining the team in a March trade with the Sabres. The 32-year-old will continue to provide the Blues with blue line depth and experience, but he'll need to pick up the scoring pace in order to regain much fantasy value next season.

Leopold Debuts For Blues

News: Jordan Leopold made his St. Louis debut Monday night, skating 23 shifts for 16:43 of ice time in the Blues' 4-1 road win over the Wild. He finished plus-1 with two shots, two hits and a blocked shot in the win.
Analysis: Jordan Leopold took the spot of Wayne Redden on the blue line and skated some on the power play, promising placements on a Blues team that needs his offense.

Sabres' Leopold Traded To Blues

News: Jordan Leopold was traded from the Sabres to the Blues on Saturday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: The Sabres will receive draft picks, while the Blues get a veteran defender to provide a boost on the blue line. Jordan Leopold has two goals and eight points in 24 games this season.

Sabres' Leopold Back In Action

News: Jordan Leopold returned to action for Tuesday's win over the Rangers after missing nine games with an upper-body injury.
Analysis: Jordan Leopold didn't register a point, but he did skate for 19:16 and saw 3:14 of power play time. However, with a modest four points in 17 games, he remains on the low end of fantasy worth on the blue line.

Sabres' Leopold Remains Game-Time Decision For Tuesday

News: Jordan Leopold (upper body) will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's game against the Rangers, John Vogl of The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Jordan Leopold was expected to play in Sunday's contest to replace the injured Andrej Sekera, but sat out because Sekera was able to play. Leopold seems to be ready and healthy once again, but his playing time depends on where he will slide into the lineup, as the Sabres have one of the deeper defenses in the NHL.
