Flyers Send Zepp To AHL

News: The Flyers loaned Rob Zepp to AHL Lehigh Valley on Sunday, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: With Rob Zepp headed to the AHL, the team has recalled fellow goalie Anthony Stolarz to back up Steve Mason.

Flyers Place Zepp On Waivers

News: Rob Zepp was placed on waivers Saturday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: Since the Flyers aren't able to assign Rob Zepp to AHL Lehigh Valley until he clears waivers Sunday, look for the goalie to stick around in a backup capacity behind Steve Mason for Saturday's game against the Rangers. Once Ray Emery (lower body) is activated from injured reserve -- which could happen within the next few days -- Zepp would more than likely head back to the minors.

Flyers' Zepp Stumbles As Mason Returns

News: Rob Zepp was pulled after allowing two goals on eight shots Thursday in a loss to Toronto.
Analysis: Steve Mason came on and stopped eight of nine, which ended up getting him the loss instead of Rob Zepp. WIth Mason back now, Zepp's starts will dry up, and he could ultimately be sent back to AHL Adirondack once Ray Emery gets healthy, although the Flyers could demote or cut Emery instead.

Flyers Roll With Zepp

News: Rob Zepp is in line to start Thursday's game against the Maple Leafs, Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post reports.
Analysis: Rob Zepp, who is 5-2-0 with a 2.80 GAA and a .893 save percentage in nine appearances to date, is thus on track to draw the start Thursday, though with Steve Mason nearing a return, Zepp's run as the Flyers' starter could be winding down.

Zepp Takes Loss For Flyers

News: Rob Zepp allowed four goals on 35 shots Tuesday in a 4-1 loss to Carolina.
Analysis: The 'Canes got him a couple times on the power play, but they all count the same. Rob Zepp looked to be picking up a little momentum after posting back-to-back wins over the weekend, but he certainly lost some momentum with this one.

Flyers Turn To Zepp Tuesday

News: Rob Zepp will be in net for Tuesday's game against the Hurricanes, Randy Miller of NJ.com reports.
Analysis: Rob Zepp was impressive in earning two wins over the weekend against the Predators and Capitals. He'll get the nod for a third straight contest as the team announced Ray Emery is dealing with a lower-body injury and Steve Mason not quite ready to return.

Flyers' Zepp Wins Again

News: Rob Zepp turned away 21 of the 23 shots he faced in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Capitals.
Analysis: Rob Zepp earned both starts in a back-to-back set after shutting down the Predators on Saturday, and came away with the win in both against a pair of tough opponents. Steve Mason could return from injury within the week, but at 5-1-0 and with two impressive weekend showings, Zepp could take over the starting duties until then.

Flyers Roll With Zepp Sunday

News: Rob Zepp will start in net Sunday's game against the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Rob Zepp took down the Predators on Saturday by allowing just two goals on 22 shots, and he will now return in goal Sunday to face another tough opponent in the Capitals.

Flyers' Zepp Gets The Better Of Nashville

News: Rob Zepp beat the NHL's best team Saturday, allowing two goals on 22 shots in a 3-2 shootout win over the Predators.
Analysis: This was just Rob Zepp's sixth start of the season, as veteran Ray Emery has taken over the starting reins in the absence of Steve Mason (knee) recently. Zepp has been rather mediocre in those seven appearances, putting up an .892 save percentage and 2.73 GAA, but then again -- he does have four wins during than span on a wildly inconsistent Flyers squad.

Flyers' Zepp Starting Saturday

News: Rob Zepp will start Saturday's game against the Predators.
Analysis: Rob Zepp will get his sixth start of the season, with Philadelphia saving Ray Emery for Sunday's game against the Capitals. Zepp has a 3-1-0 record, .889 save percentage and 2.92 GAA, entering a matchup with the current frontrunner for the Presidents' Trophy.

Flyers' Zepp To See A Start Over The Weekend

News: Coach Craig Berube said that Rob Zepp would pick up a start for one of the Flyers' two weekend contests, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Berube was unwilling to confirm which of his two goalies -- Rob Zepp and regular starter Ray Emery -- he would use for either game. In any case, Zepp doesn't make for an especially enticing in play in daily formats, as it would be difficult for him to come away with the victory against two of the league's stronger teams in Nashville (Saturday's opponent) and Washington (Sunday). However, if Zepp ends up surprising and keeps the Flyers competitive, he could have an argument for overtaking Emery for primary netminding duties.

Flyers Recall Zepp

News: Rob Zepp (leg) was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley on Monday.
Analysis: Rob Zepp was initially skipped over for a promotion after starting goalie Steve Mason went down as he was dealing with a leg injury of his own, but he returned to action and grabbed a pair of wins for the AHL club over the past weekend. Ray Emery will still likely serve as the starter in Mason's absence, but Zepp will take over the backup duties from Anthony Stolarz.

Flyers' Zepp Resumes Practicing With AHL Squad

News: Rob Zepp (leg) has resumed practicing with AHL Lehigh Valley, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Rob Zepp would have been in line for a promotion to the Flyers after Steve Mason hurt his knee Sunday, but he suffered a leg injury of his own while playing with Lehigh Valley a day earlier. It appears Zepp's ailment is only a minor concern, as he could be on tap to start for Lehigh Valley for their game Friday. If all goes well during that outing, the Flyers could bring Zepp aboard for Sunday's game against the Sabres. If that scenario comes to fruition, Anthony Stolarz, who is currently serving as the backup to new No. 1 goalie Ray Emery, would return to Lehigh Valley to open up a roster spot for Zepp.

Injury Prevents Zepp From Getting Call To Flyers

News: Rob Zepp suffered a right leg injury Saturday while playing for AHL Lehigh Valley, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Though the NHL club is in need of an extra goalie after Steve Mason suffered a lower-body injury Sunday, Rob Zepp's own ailment will take him out of the running for a promotion. Instead, it looks like 21-year-old Anthony Stolarz will get the call to Philadelphia, where he'll serve as the backup to Ray Emery for the duration of Mason's absence.

Flyers Send Zepp To AHL

News: The Flyers have loaned Rob Zepp to AHL Lehigh Valley, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Rob Zepp, who had been recalled by the Flyers on Jan. 11, heads back down to the AHL now that Steve Mason is back in the team's netminding mix. Meanwhile, Ray Emery remains the team's top backup.

Flyers' Zepp Struggles In Loss

News: Rob Zepp allowed four goals on just 20 shots before getting the hook in the second period of Monday's 7-4 loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: Rob Zepp was spared the loss as his mates fought back to tighten it up, but it was still the worst performance of his brief career. The 33-year-old has gotten four of the last five starts ahead of Ray Emery though, so when the injured Steve Mason returns Zepp could be in line to take over the backup duties.

Flyers Roll With Zepp

News: Rob Zepp will receive the start between the pipes Monday against the Islanders.
Analysis: Rob Zepp picked up the victory in his last start Saturday despite allowing three goals on 27 shots. He has received three of the last four starts in net for the Flyers in the absence of Steve Mason, and may be making a push to stay on as Mason's backup when he returns.

Flyers' Zepp: 24 Saves In Win

News: Rob Zepp picked up a win in Saturday's 4-3 decision over the Sabres. He made 24 saves.
Analysis: The former German league standout may be cementing a place as Steve Mason's backup given his strong play of late. He's now 3-1 in four starts and he's allowed 10 goals in those games. Short term, he can provide fantasy value in leagues. And maybe more given Mason's propensity for injury.

Flyers' Zepp Receives Start Saturday Vs. Buffalo

News: Rob Zepp will man the net for the Flyers during Saturday's game in Buffalo.
Analysis: The Sabres are still licking their wounds after a 7-0 whipping at the hands of the Wild on Thursday night, so this could be a prime opportunity for both Rob Zepp and his fantasy owners to take advantage. Ray Emery's shaky play of late has allowed Zepp to play more frequently than anticipated since his Jan. 11 call-up, and while he hasn't done anything especially remarkable, he probably represents the Flyers' best option in goal at the moment. With a steady outing against the hapless Sabres, Zepp should be able to solidify his standing over Emery on the Flyers' depth chart, at least until Steve Mason (lower body) returns after the All-Star break.

Flyers' Zepp Stops Nine Shots In Relief

News: Rob Zepp stopped nine of 10 shots in relief of Ray Emery in Thursday's 4-0 loss to the Canucks.
Analysis: While Rob Zepp didn't see much rubber upon entering the game in the second period, he nonetheless prevented the damage from getting much worse in his 38:39 of action. With Ray Emery showing no signs of improvement, Zepp could emerge as the Flyers' primary netminder while Steve Mason (lower body) remains out of commission.

Flyers' Zepp Stops 25 In Loss

News: Rob Zepp allowed one goal on 26 shots in Wednesday's 1-0 loss to the Capitals.
Analysis: Rob Zepp certainly played well enough to earn the victory, and could easily be 3-0-0 in just three appearances on the season. Despite his impressive play, he doesn't appear to be challenging Steve Mason for the starting gig quite yet.

Flyers To Start Zepp For Second Straight Game

News: Rob Zepp will receive the start in goal for Wednesday's game against the Capitals, Sarah Baicker of CSN Philadelphia reports.
Analysis: Rob Zepp will earn his second consecutive start after he was in goal during Monday's 7-3 win over the Flyers. As that score would indicate, Zepp benefited from some overwhelming offensive support, so it's not as though he keyed the team to victory in the outing. Nonetheless, with Ray Emery scuffling mightily this season, Zepp could end up assuming No. 1 goalie duties until Steve Mason (lower body) returns from injury. With a strong outing against the Capitals, Zepp will certainly state a case for more work.

Flyers' Zepp Gets Win

News: Rob Zepp stopped 21 of 24 shots in Monday's 7-3 win over the Lightning.
Analysis: Rob Zepp wasn't spectacular, but he was solid enough against the league's top offense, and he didn't allow the second goal until the game was already well in hand with a 7-1 lead. He's now won both of his career starts and figures to compete with Ray Emery for starts while starter Steve Mason deals with an injury.

Flyers To Start Zepp

News: Rob Zepp will start Monday's game against the Lightning.
Analysis: Rob Zepp is back with the Flyers, with Steve Mason expected to be out up to two weeks. Zepp is a speculative play Monday, however, with the Lightning having won three straight games and sitting atop the Eastern Conference standings with 58 points.

Flyers Recall Zepp

News: Rob Zepp was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley on Sunday.
Analysis: Rob Zepp will give the Flyers some insurance in net with Steve Mason (knee) possibly out a week. He had an earlier stint with the team, but was sent back to AHL Lehigh Valley, where he has posted a 3-0-0 record with a 1.90 GAA and .942 save percentage since being returned.
