Johnsson remains in the press box

News: Blackhawks D Kim Johnsson did not suit up for Game 5 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series against the Predators on Saturday due to a concussion. He has not appeared in a game this postseason.
Analysis: The Hawks have been without Johnsson since March 13, and it's anybody's guess as to whether or not he'll return for the postseason. With just seven goals and 10 assists at plus-10 on the season, Johnsson doesn't have huge Fantasy value. He should be considered a low-end Fantasy option heading into the 2010/11 season, if he's healthy and ready to play.

Hawks hold out Johnsson again

News: Blackhawks D Kim Johnsson did not dress for Friday's game against the Avalanche due to a concussion. He has missed 14 consecutive games.
Analysis: It's likely the Blackhawks will opt to hold Johnsson out until the playoffs. And with just seven goals and 10 assists at plus-10 on the season, Johnsson doesn't have huge Fantasy value anyway. It can't hurt to be safe and forget about him for Sunday's season finale against Detroit.

Johnsson sits again on Wednesday

News: Blackhawks D Kim Johnsson was a scratch Wednesday against the Blues due to a concussion. He has missed 13 consecutive games and remains day to day.
Analysis: At this rate, it seems the Blackhawks are just content with getting Johnsson back for the playoffs. Head injuries are no laughing matter, so Fantasy owners should look to healthier alternatives the rest of the regular season.

Johnsson still not ready to go

News: Blackhawks D Kim Johnsson was a scratch for Friday's game against the Devils due to an upper-body injury. He's missed ten straight games.
Analysis: There are points to be had with Blackhawks D Brian Campbell out for the rest of the regular season. Johnsson could be a sleeper Fantasy option down the stretch since he has some offensive skills, but he first needs to get healthy.

Hawks still without Johnsson

News: Blackhawks D Kim Johnsson did not return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Blues with what the team is calling an upper-body injury, which is believed to be a concussion. Johnsson's absence is at eight games.
Analysis: We suspected that Johnsson was dealing with a serious enough injury to keep him sidelined this long, and it appears our suspicions were correct, even if Chicago doesn't want to come clean. Johnsson is merely a low-end Fantasy flier when healthy, but there are extra points to be had with Brian Campbell done for the season.

Johnsson believed to have concussion

News: The Sports Xchange reports Blackhawks D Kim Johnsson, who has been sidelined with an upper-body injury since March 13, is now considered to have suffered a concussion. Johnsson, acquired in a deal with Minnesota at the trade deadline, was injured in a collision at Philadelphia and has missed the last seven games.
Analysis: We suspected that Johnsson was dealing with a serious enough injury to keep him sidelined this long, and it appears our suspicions were correct. There are points to be had with Brian Campbell out for the rest of the regular season. Johnsson could be a sleeper Fantasy option down the stretch since he has some offensive skills, but he first needs to get healthy. He remains an injury-risk start for Week 24 (March 29-April 4).

Kim Johnsson

Johnsson's absence stretches to Thurs.

News: Blackhawks D Kim Johnsson (upper body) was unable to play on Thursday against the Blue Jackets. He has missed the last six games and is questionable for Sunday's rematch with Columbus.
Analysis: Whatever seems to be ailing Johnsson seems serious enough to keep him sidelined during what could be a prosperous time for the veteran blueliner. There are points to be had with Brian Campbell out for the rest of the regular season. Johnsson could be a sleeper Fantasy option down the stretch since he has some offensive skills, but he first needs to get healthy.

Kim Johnsson

Johnsson sidelined a fifth game

News: Blackhawks D Kim Johnsson (upper body) was unable to play on Tuesday against the Coyotes. He has missed the last five games.
Analysis: This is just bad timing for Johnsson since there are extra scoring chances from the blue line with Brian Campbell out until the playoffs. Johnsson could be a sleeper Fantasy option down the stretch since he has some offensive skills, but he first needs to get healthy.

Kim Johnsson, D, CHI Johnsson won't play vs. Coyotes

Kim Johnsson

Johnsson won't play vs. Coyotes

News: The Blackhawks' official Twitter feed reports that D Kim Johnsson (upper body) will not play Tuesday vs. Phoenix.
Analysis: Since leaving Philadelphia after the 2005-06 season, Johnsson hasn't been able to find the offensive game that saw him average 40 points a campaign with the Flyers. If he can get healthy soon he could see a boost in ice time with Brian Campbell out, but is too risky to run with in Fantasy Week 23 (March 22-28).

Kim Johnsson, D, CHI Johnsson's absence at four games

Kim Johnsson

Johnsson's absence at four games

News: Blackhawks D Kim Johnsson has missed the last four games with an upper-body injury. He remains day to day.
Analysis: The Blackhawks are returning home on Tuesday against the Coyotes, so there is a chance Johnsson can get back into action. However, he still remains an injury-risk start for Week 23 (March 22-28). This ailment comes at a bad time since Chicago could really use Johnsson on its blue line since the injury to Brian Campbell. Johnsson could be a sleeper Fantasy option down the stretch, but he first needs to get healthy.

Johnsson added to Hawks' blue line

News: The Chicago Blackhawks have traded defenseman Cam Barker to the Minnesota Wild for defensemen Kim Johnsson and Nick Leddy on Friday.
Analysis: The 33-year-old Johnsson has six goals and eight assists in 52 games with the Wild this season. Johnsson has a plus-3 rating and led Minnesota with an average ice time of 23:46. The Wild lose a key veteran in Johnsson, but Chicago gets a great defensive presence. Johnsson probably won't see a great increase in offensive production, so he continues to have low-end Fantasy appeal.

Johnsson has two goals in two games

News: Wild D Kim Johnsson scored a goal during Monday's game against the Kings. After going 2 for 39 on the power play over their previous 10 games, the Wild grabbed a 2-1 lead at the 15-minute mark of the second period while Ryan Smyth was off for hooking Marek Zidlicky. Andrew Brunette got the puck from Mikko Koivu at the edge of the crease and flipped a no-look backhanded pass to Johnsson, who had plenty of daylight with Jonathan Quick out of position. It was his fourth goal and second in as many games.
Analysis: This is a rare offensive outburst from Johnsson. He used to be a 40-point threat back in his earlier days with the Flyers, but he has been more of a 20-point player with Minnesota. Johnsson logs a lot of PT but is just a low-end Fantasy option when on the ice.

Johnsson removed off IR Tuesday

News: Minnesota D Kim Johnsson (shoulder) was removed from the injured reserve list on Tuesday for the Wild's game at Toronto. Johnsson was in the lineup for the Wild after missing the last seven games because of a shoulder injury.
Analysis: Johnsson has had a rough start to the season with a minus-7 rating in nine games. This injury was just further insult to the poor start. Johnsson logs a lot of PT but is just a low-end Fantasy option when on the ice.

Johnsson cleared to return

News: The Wild said Monday that defenseman Kim Johnsson has been cleared to play again after missing the last seven games because of an unspecified upper body injury. The Wild visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday.
Analysis: Johnsson has had a rough start to the season with a minus-7 rating in nine games. This injury was just further insult to the poor start. Johnsson logs a lot of PT when healthy, but he is more of a low-end Fantasy option.

Johnsson due back Week 6

News: The Sports Xchange reports Wild D Kim Johnsson missed his sixth game on Saturday against Dallas with a shoulder injury but coach Todd Richards said he's getting "close." The team's targeting Tuesday's game in Toronto, and if not there, "definitely" Thursday in Tampa Bay, Richards said. Johnsson was hurt after being checked by St. Louis RW David Backes on Oct. 23.
Analysis: Johnsson has had a rough start to the season with a minus-7 rating in nine games. This injury was just further insult to the poor start. Johnsson logs a lot of PT when healthy, but he is more of a low-end Fantasy option.

Johnsson out a couple of weeks

News: Minnesota D Kim Johnsson, checked awkwardly into the boards Friday in St. Louis, was placed on injured reserve Saturday. He's expected to miss a couple weeks.
Analysis: Johnsson is a top-pairing defenseman for the Wild, but doesn't do much on the offensive side of things. Continue to ignore him in all but the deepest of Fantasy leagues, healthy or not.

Johnsson pops up with two assists

News: Wild D Kim Johnsson, who had just three points in his last 20 games before Thursday's win over the Sharks, assisted twice in the victory.
Analysis: Johnsson logs more than 24 minutes per game for the Wild and is one of their better two-way defenders. Consider Johnsson a low-end Fantasy defenseman and possible flier in leagues that reward heavily for short-handed stats, but nothing more.

Johnsson without goal since Oct. 16

News: Wild D Kim Johnsson failed to record a point in 21:11 of ice time Tuesday against the Kings. He does have two assists in his last seven games, but Johnsson hasn't scored since Oct. 16.
Analysis: Johnsson logs more than 24 minutes per game for the Wild and is one of their better two-way defenders. However, the offensive burden has been lightened some with the additions of Marek Zidlicky and Marc-Andre Bergeron. Consider Johnsson a low-end Fantasy defenseman and possible flier in leagues that reward heavily for short-handed stats.

Johnsson returns but does little

News: Wild D Kim Johnsson returned to the Wild lineup and logged just over eight minutes of ice time. Johnsson missed one game as he went off on personal leave, missing Monday's game against the Flames. Johnsson did not record a point in the game.
Analysis: Johnsson can make things happen on both ends of the ice for the Wild, but he just hasn't been able to account for many points lately. Johnsson is best reserved for leagues that reward for shorthanded stats. Other than that, consider him a low-end flier in most leagues.

Johnsson away on personal leave

News: The Sports Xchange reports the Wild was forced to skate five defensemen and 13 forwards Monday at Calgary when D Kim Johnsson, the Wild's top minute-man, returned to Minnesota because of a family emergency. D John Scott was on his way up from Peoria, where the Houston Aeros played Sunday, but missed his connection to Calgary from Minneapolis.
Analysis: Johnsson has managed just five points in his last 25 games after getting five points in his first nine. Johnsson logs more than 24 minutes per game for the Wild and is one of their better two-way defenders. However, the offensive burden has been lightened some with the additions of Marek Zidlicky and Marc-Andre Bergeron. Consider Johnsson a low-end Fantasy defenseman and possible flier in leagues that reward heavily for short-handed stats.
