Winchester Signs With Avs

News: The Avs have signed Jesse Winchester to a two-year, $1.8 million deal, the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Jesse Winchester is considered a good defensive player, and while he'll bolster the Avs' depth up front, he's only a fantasy option in deeper formats, having recorded 18 points and 38 PIM in 52 games for the Panthers last season.

Panthers' Winchester Returns To Lineup In Victory

News: Jesse Winchester was held pointless 13:54 minutes in Tuesday night's 3-2 shootout win over Ottawa.
Analysis: It was Jesse Winchester's first game back since Mar.9 and he registered a solid four shots on net despite the limited ice time. Winchester is having a career year of sorts given that he has scored 17 points in 43 games, but from a fantasy perspective he will not contribute much even in the deepest leagues.

Panthers Expect Winchester Back This Week

News: Jesse Winchester (lower body) is expected to return to the Panthers' lineup at some point this week, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Jesse Winchester has been sidelined for the last two weeks due to injury, but looks as though he won't miss too many more contests. He's only a marginal contributor for fantasy purposes, with 17 points in 42 games; however, he could assume a larger role upon returning, as Aleksander Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau and Tomas Kopecky are all out due to injury.

Panthers' Winchester Out For A Week

News: Jesse Winchester (lower body) will miss at least a week of action, Alain Poupart of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: This news puts a little more of a timetable on Jesse Winchester's injury than was previously available, although it's still a pretty open-ended one. At this stage in the season, fantasy players are best served to look elsewhere for forward help.

Panthers' Winchester Scores Goal In Win Friday

News: Jesse Winchester scored his ninth goal of the season during the Panthers' 2-0 win over the Sabres on Friday.
Analysis: Jesse Winchester opened the scoring midway through the first period while on the power play and his goal actually proved to be the game-winner. He now has nine goals and eight assists over 41 games this season but is only recommended in the deepest of leagues.

Panthers' Winchester Playing Well Since Injury

News: Jesse Winchester has eight goals and seven assists in 36 games so far this season.
Analysis: The center has also added 27 PIM for the Panthers, so he can make an impact in ways that don't show up on the score sheet. He missed a few weeks with a hand injury earlier in the season, but has played pretty well overall since returning.

Winchester Notches Goal In Panthers' Win

News: Jesse Winchester scored his sixth goal of the season in the Panthers' 4-3 win over the Sabres, Tuesday night.
Analysis: Jesse Winchester now has a goal and three assists while posting a plus-4 rating in his first two games back from a hand injury. Though Winchester has never scored more than 18 points in a season, he has 13 points through 28 games this year and has already reached a new career high with six goals. Winchester is only an option in the deepest of leagues at the moment.

Panthers' Winchester Tallies Three Assists

News: Jesse Winchester picked up three helpers and went plus-3 against the Penguins on Monday.
Analysis: It was Jesse Winchester's first game since Dec. 15, and he made the most of it. However, the veteran has no history of fantasy impact, so this shouldn't be viewed as anything more than a nice night in a surprising win.

Panthers: Winchester To Return Monday

News: Jesse Winchester (hand) will return to the lineup Monday against the Penguins, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Jesse Winchester will return to his third-line role Monday, but don't expect much from him. After putting together a decent scoring streak in late-October and early-November, Winchester returned to his scoreless ways before sustaining his hand injury.

Panthers' Winchester Returns To Practice

News: Jesse Winchester (hand) returned to practice Friday, the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Jesse Winchester has been sidelined since mid-December but appears to be honing in on a return to game action. He'll be evaluated over the weekend, and if he's cleared, Monday's game against the Penguins may be a possibility.

Panthers' Winchester Close To Return

News: Coach Pete Horachek said Jesse Winchester (hand) is close to returning, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Jesse Winchester has missed the last four weeks with a broken hand, but finally appears to be nearing the finish line in his recovery. Prior to suffering the injury, Winchester was enjoying the best offensive season of his career. His five goals are already a new career high, achieved in just 26 games.

Panthers' Winchester Likely Out 3-4 Weeks

News: Jesse Winchester (hand) is expected to miss three-to-four weeks, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Analysis: A hand injury, suffered in Sunday's win over the Canadiens, could sideline Jesse Winchester for up to a month. The 30-year-old has just one point in his last nine games, but his loss will likely be felt along the wing.

Panthers' Winchester Out Tuesday With Hand Injury

News: Jesse Winchester (hand) has been sent back to Florida while the Panthers are in Toronto to play the Leafs on Tuesday, reports George Richards of the Miami Herald.
Analysis: Jesse Winchester suffered the hand injury blocking a shot late in Sunday's victory over Montreal. It is unknown how long the 30-year-old forward will be out, but it's likely he'll remain away from the team until they return home from their four-game Canadian road trip. Winchester has played well this season in a bottom-six role for the Panthers, but only has value in the deepest of leagues.

Panthers' Winchester Returns To Lineup Saturday

News: Jesse Winchester will be back in the lineup Saturday against the Penguins after sitting out the last three games with a lower-body injury.
Analysis: Jesse Winchester is having a nice season so far with eight points in 20 games, while also adding 25 PIM. He is worth adding in deeper leagues due to his ability to contribute in multiple categories.

Panthers' Winchester Day-To-Day

News: Jesse Winchester had an x-ray on a lower-body injury and is listed as day-to-day, Harvey Fialkov of the Sun Sentinel reports.

Panthers' Winchester Suffers Lower-Body Injury

News: Jesse Winchester suffered a lower-body injury during Thursday's loss to the Oilers., the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Jesse Winchester briefly returned to the game but was unable to finish it out, which doesn't bode well for his chances of suiting up Friday against the Flames. He has eight points through 20 contests, despite seeing less than 13 minutes of ice time per game.

Panthers' Winchester Completes Suspension

News: Jesse Winchester has completed his three-game suspension.
Analysis: He'll be eligible to return to the ice Friday against the Wild after serving his punishment for an illegal hit on the Bruins' Chris Kelly on Nov. 7. With seven points in his 16 games this season, Jesse Winchester has nearly surpassed his 2012-13 of eight points, a feat that took twice as many games (32) to accomplish.

Panthers' Winchester Suspended Three Games

News: Jesse Winchester has been suspended three games for his hit on the Bruins' Chris Kelly on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of RDS.ca reports.
Analysis: The hit did not draw a penalty during the game, but upon further review, the NHL Department of Player Safety has determined that Jesse Winchester deserves a three-game ban for his actions. As things stand now, Winchester will be out until next Friday, but there's a chance he could appeal.

Panthers' Winchester To Face Disciplinary Hearing

News: Jesse Winchester's hit on Chris Kelly in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Bruins has earned him a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Friday, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Jesse Winchester delivered a hit on Chris Kelly deep in the Boston zone late in the first period, forcing Kelly to leave the game briefly. No penalty was called on the play, but the hit was bad enough to garner Winchester a meeting with Brendan Shanahan. Winchester has been one of the few positive additions for the Panthers this season, recording four goals, three assists, 25 penalty minutes, and an even rating through 16 games. Winchester has not been known for his scoring abilities at the NHL level, but he was a consistent point-a-game player during his college days at Colgate University.

Winchester Tallies Lone Goal For Panthers

News: Jesse Winchester provided the Panthers with their only offense as he scored his second goal of the season during Florida's 3-1 loss to the Sabres on Friday.
Analysis: With this game, Jesse Winchester has already matched his goal output for all 32 games he played last season. The depth winger is averaging just under 12 minutes of ice time per game and is known more for his defensive play than offensive punch, so he's obviously not someone to be concerned with for fantasy purposes.

Winchester Scores First Goal For Panthers

News: Jesse Winchester scored his first goal in a Panthers jersey Thursday, tying the game 2-2 in the third period against Boston's Tuukka Rask in an eventual loss.
Analysis: The depth winger hasn't been much of a scorer in his NHL career, and fantasy owners shouldn't expect him to chip in more than 15-20 points this season.

Sens' Winchester Suffers Upper Body Injury In Win Wednesday

News: Jesse Winchester suffered an undisclosed upper-body injury in Wednesday night's 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers reports the Ottawa Sun.
Analysis: He left the game during the second period and did not return. There's no indication if he might be back in time for Game 5 which goes Saturday night. Consider him day-to-day for now, but it could be longer term as Jesse Winchester did suffer a concussion earlier this season which forced him to miss three months.

Sens' Winchester Back In Action

News: Jesse Winchester (concussion) picked up an assist in Sunday's win over the Islanders.
Analysis: It was Jesse Winchester's first game since Dec. 20 and he'll have a couple more regular season games to shake off the rust before the Sens' postseason run.

Sens' Winchester Inching Closer To Return

News: Jesse Winchester (concussion) recently passed his concussion tests, but won't be back in the lineup until he's in game-shape reports the Ottawa Citizen.
Analysis: He's been out of action since suffering a concussion in a game against Buffalo on Dec. 20 so he's going to be extremely rusty when he does come back. Jesse Winchester has been practicing with the Senators for over a week now and should the team capture a playoff spot before the end of the regular season, he could get a game or two in to get the rust off before the playoffs started.
