Penguins' Chorney Recalled From AHL

News: Taylor Chorney was recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday.
Analysis: Taylor Chorney leads the AHL with a plus-26 rating, but he only has 19 points in 62 games. With the Penguins banged up along the blue line, the 27-year-old Chorney will likely join Derrick Pouliot on the third defensive pairing for Saturday's game in Columbus.

Penguins Send Chorney To AHL

News: Taylor Chorney was assigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday, the Penguins' official site reports.
Analysis: Taylor Chorney, who has not recorded a point in two games with the big club, checks back into the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton lineup with nine points and a plus-14 rating in 34 AHL games this season.

Penguins' Chorney Recalled From AHL

News: Taylor Chorney was recalled from AHL Wilkes-Bare Scranton on Tuesday, the Penguins' official website reports.
Analysis: Taylor Chorney, 27, has seven points (one goal) in 63 career NHL games. He'll help the Pens with blueline depth, and he may be a healthy scratch for Tuesday's game against the Wild.

Pens Reassign Chorney

News: Taylor Chorney was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre Scranton on Wednesday.
Analysis: Taylor Chorney was one of three players that was reassigned to the minors Wednesday, joining Jeff Zatkoff and Dominik Uher. It likely signals that the three players that were isolated from the team the last two games out of concern that they might be dealing with the mumps -- Steve Downie, Brandon Sutter, and Thomas Greiss -- have tested negative for the virus. Official word on their status should come when the team resumes practicing Friday. Chorney had averaged just 5:32 of ice time over his two contests.

Penguins Recall Chorney

News: Taylor Chorney was recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Saturday, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: The Penguins provided no information regarding their decision to promote Taylor Chorney and fellow blueliner Derrick Pouliot, but it almost certainly signals that Christian Ehrhoff (lower body) will not be available for Saturday's game against the Panthers. As it stands now, the Penguins have eight healthy defensemen on the roster, which could relegate Chorney to healthy scratch duties for the time being.

Pens Reassign Chorney To AHL

News: Taylor Chorney was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday.
Analysis: As the team's seventh defenseman, Taylor Chorney was in the press box for Pittsburgh's opener Thursday. Chorney will be replaced by blue line prospect Scott Harrington, who will likely get a more legitimate shot to break into the Pens' top three defensive pairings.

Penguins Bring Up Chorney

News: The Penguins recalled Taylor Chorney from ECHL Wheeling on Thursday, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Taylor Chorney will open the year as the Penguins' seventh defenseman with Robert Bortuzzo (upper body) sidelined. As such, don't expect him to be a regular in the Penguins' lineup.

Pens Assign Chorney To ECHL

News: Taylor Chorney was assigned to ECHL Wheeling on Tuesday.
Analysis: The 27-year-old Taylor Chorney has bounced around the minors the last several seasons, but could be recalled as the team's seventh defenseman for the first couple weeks of 2014-15 (until Robert Bortuzzo returns). Both Scott Harrington and Brian Dumoulin have been sent to Wilkes-Barre, setting the stage for Chorney to return after Tuesday's procedural, salary-cap demotion.

Oilers Recall Chorney

News: The Oilers have recalled Taylor Chorney from AHL Oklahoma City, the team's official Twitter page reports.
Analysis: Taylor Chorney scored a career high four points (1G, 3A) in 12 games with Edmonton last season. In 2009, he scored only three points in 42 games and finished the season with an abysmal -21 ratio. The 24-year-old Chorney is a capable defenseman, but don't expect him to help out your fantasy team this season.

Oilers Claim Chorney From Blues

News: The Oilers have claimed Taylor Chorney after the Blues put him on waivers Wednesday, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.
Analysis: Taylor Chorney is a former Oiler so the team certainly knows what it's getting, which is a depth defenseman who fills in capably when called upon but has almost no scoring ability. The Blues did the same thing to the Oilers when they placed Chorney on waivers last month, so it looks like the favor has been returned. Perhaps he never changed his mailing address and gets an added bonus.

Blues Place Chorney On Waivers

News: The Blues placed Taylor Chorney on waivers Wednesday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports. The Blues are hoping he passes through waivers so that he can be assigned to Peoria of the American Hockey League.
Analysis: Taylor Chorney appeared in two games with the Blues, but the team decided to go with former first-rounder Ian Cole on the blue line instead. Chorney will not turn 25 until next season, so don't be surprised if another interested team claims him off waivers.

Chorney Debuts For Blues

News: Taylor Chorney, who was claimed off waivers by St. Louis in mid-October, made his debut for the Blues in Friday night's win over Vancouver.
Analysis: Taylor Chorney gets the call in place of the injured Kent Huskins (ankle) and had a blocked shot in 11:05. Huskins' ankle injury is not as serious as originally thought, so Chorney's opportunity may be a short one.
