Habs' Pacioretty Notches Goal, Assist In Game 5

News: Max Pacioretty notched a goal and assist in Tuesday's Game 5 win over the Rangers.
Analysis: Max Pacioretty tallied his fifth goal of the playoffs to kick off the scoring in a wild second period that saw the Rangers rally from a three-score deficit to tie the game. The Habs would respond with three unanswered goals to finish off the match, with Pacioretty finding David Desharnais on a shorthanded tally with 4:17 remaining to wrap up the scoring for the night.

Habs' Pacioretty Notches Team's Lone Goal Monday

News: Max Pacioretty scored the Canadiens' only goal in Monday's Game 2 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: The unassisted tally was Max Pacioretty's fourth of the postseason, and gave the Canadiens a 1-0 lead that was surrendered 17 seconds later. With goalie Carey Price out for the entire Eastern Conference Finals, Pacioretty will need to lift the Habs' attack to greater heights if they hope to make their first Stanley Cup Finals appearance since 1993.

Canadiens' Pacioretty Tallies Two Points

Habs Pacioretty Fine For Thursday's Opener

News: Max Pacioretty simply took the option not to partake in Thursday's morning skate and is fine to play in Game 1 against the Bruins, according to John Lu of TSN Montreal.
Analysis: Max Pacioretty only had one goal in the first-round sweep over the Lightning, but Round 2 brings a much tougher opponent and it would behoove the Habs to get a production percentage more in line with Pacioretty's 39 regular-season tallies.

Habs' Pacioretty Skips Optional Skate

News: Max Pacioretty (unspecified reason) was absent from the Habs' Thursday morning skate, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: Max Pacioretty's status for Thursday's Game 1 against the Bruins is thus worth confirming, but it's worth noting that he was able to play in all four of the Habs' first-round series contests against the Lightning.

Pacioretty's Goal Advances Habs

News: Max Pacioretty's power-play goal with 42.6 seconds remaining in regulation was the winner in Tuesday night's 4-3 series-clinching win over Tampa Bay.
Analysis: It was Max Pacioretty's first of the postseason and moved the Canadiens on to the second round, where they await the winner of the Boston-Detroit series.

Pacioretty Shut Down In Canadiens' Loss

News: Despite logging six shots on goal in nearly 21-minutes of ice time, Max Pacioretty was held without a point in Montreal's 3-2 loss to Chicago.
Analysis: Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford was solid in this one. Forget the doughnut, with nine goals in his last nine games, Max Pacioretty is arguably one of the most reliable goal-scorers heading into the playoffs. The Connecticut native is just one goal shy of the 40-goal mark and five tallies shy of his career-high (65) in points with two tilts remaining.

Habs' Pacioretty: Eight Goals In Last Six Games

News: Max Pacioretty continued his goal assault Saturday with a single marker in a win over Detroit. He has eight goals in his last six games.
Analysis: He's now in a tie with San Jose's Joe Pavelski for third in the NHL in goals with 39. But it's not just goals -- he has 15 points, including those nine goals, in his last 10 games. Take advantage of this hot streak.

Huge Night For Montreal's Pacioretty

News: Max Pacioretty recorded a hat trick in Friday's 7-4 win over Ottawa and assisted on two other goals, giving him nine points in the last four games.
Analysis: Patches truly has ratcheted up his game in the last few weeks and has a shot to hit 40 goals for the first time in his career. Owners might want to see a few more assists, but no one's being too picky considering the numbers he is putting up lately.

Habs' Pacioretty: Three-Point Night

News: Max Pacioretty had two goals and an assist in Saturday's win over Florida. He has 11 points in his last 10 games.
Analysis: The addition of Thomas Vanek to the Habs' lineup has been like a shot of Red Bull to Mad Max, who now has 35 goals this season. Stick in the spurs and enjoy the ride.

Habs' Pacioretty Scores 100th Career Goal

News: Max Pacioretty scored his 32nd goal of the year -- and No. 11 for his career -- in Tuesday's win over Montreal. The opening goal, it held up as the game-winner in a 2-0 shutout.
Analysis: Max Pacioretty's been moving along at a nice clip lately, notching five points in his last five games and kicking in nine PIM as well. He's now just one goal off his career high of 33, set in 2011-12.

Montreal's Pacioretty Continues Assist Skein

News: Max Pacioretty assisted on Thomas Vanek's third-period goal in Thursday night's loss to Columbus; he now has five assists in the last five games.
Analysis: Vanek (four goals in two games) has established himself with his new club and is skating on the top line with Max Pacioretty, boosting the American winger's fantasy value. As a surprise bonus Thursday, Pacioretty picked up seven penalty minutes that included five for fighting the equally non-pugilistic Ryan Johansen.

Habs' Pacioretty Grabs Two Assists In Win

News: Max Pacioretty helped set up two goals -- his 16th and 17th assists of the year -- as the Habs buried the Avalanche 6-3 Tuesday.
Analysis: It's no secret that Patches' bread and butter is his affinity for lighting the lamp, so it's nice to see him grab a few assists once in awhile. He now has 30 goals -- including 10 on the power play and eight game-winners -- to go along with 226 shots and 17 assists, all of which (except the assists) rank among the top ten in the league. You'll want to make sure the 25-year-old American -- who looks as potent as ever beside fellow-sniper Thomas Vanek -- is active as he zeroes in on breaking his career high of 33 tallies set in 2011-2012.

Montreal's Pacioretty Assists Monday

News: Max Pacioretty assisted on the Canadiens' lone goal in Monday's 2-1 loss to the Kings. For those counting along at home, Pacioretty has points in three straight games.
Analysis: Max Pacioretty, the Habs' leading scorer, has three goals and two assists in the last three games, but was largely a non-factor against the defensive-minded Kings. He did not have a shot on goal Monday after getting 14 pucks to the net in the previous two games.

News: Max Pacioretty scored twice, including the game-winner, in Saturday's overtime win over the Maple Leafs. The winner came on the power play.

Two Points For Habs' Pacioretty

News: Max Pacioretty scored a goal and contributed an assist in Thursday's shootout win over the Pens,
Analysis: He'd been held off the board in consecutive games bookending the Olympic break. Max Pacioretty had a quiet tournament with Team USA, picking up just an assist and four PIM in five games, so it's good to see him pick up the pace now that he's back in his featured role with the Habs.

Habs' Pacioretty Says He's Fine To Play In Sochi

News: Max Pacioretty (back) indicated he was completely healthy and is ready to play for Team USA in the Winter Olympics, TSN's Ryan Rishaug reports.
Analysis: Although Max Pacioretty had a bout with back spasms that limited him to 4:16 of ice time in the Habs' final game before the break, the forward told the press Monday that he was "just tired" more than anything. He skated on the fourth line with Ryan Callahan and Paul Stastny at Monday's practice and figures to see most of his action there when the United States begins play Thursday against Slovakia.

Habs' Pacioretty (Back) Headed To Sochi

News: Max Pacioretty, who is still traveling to Sochi for the Olympics, said that he suffered from back spasms in Saturday's game, Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: A surprising diagnosis given that Max Pacioretty's issue was initially dubbed a lower-body injury. Perhaps the NHL needs to provide a third option of "middle-body injury", but, in any case, it sounds like Pacioretty still plans on playing for Team USA in the Olympics. That obviously bodes well for his chances of being ready for the Habs after the Olympics, though it's always possible that he will re-injure his back or acquire a new injury.

Habs' Pacioretty (Lower Body) Headed To Sochi

News: After suffering a lower-body injury in Saturday's game, Max Pacioretty told the media that he will still travel to Sochi, Russia on Sunday for the Winter Olympics, Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: This is good news for Max Pacioretty, fantasy owners, the Habs, and Team USA. While traveling doesn't guarantee that he'll actually play in Sochi, it does indicate that Pacioretty didn't suffer a major injury. The situation is still worth keeping an eye on, but he'll likely be ready by the time the Olympic break is over.

Canadiens' Pacioretty Suffers Injury

News: Max Pacioretty left Saturday's game with a lower-body injury and will not return, after crashing into the Hurricanes' goal while unsuccessfully trying to score, Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: Max Pacioretty's left leg slammed into the goal post pretty hard and he was down on the ice for a couple minutes. It had the look of a fairly serious injury, which would be terrible news for a number of parties. Pacioretty has been a key piece for both the Habs and fantasy owners this season, scoring 26 goals through 50 games, including a hat trick in Thursday's win over the Canucks. Furthermore, he's scheduled to fly to Sochi on Sunday to play for the United States in the Olympics. While the timing couldn't be better for fantasy owners, Pacioretty probably doesn't feel the same way.

Canadiens' Pacioretty Notches Hat Trick

News: Max Pacioretty added an empty-net goal to complete his third career hat-trick in a 5-2 win over Vancouver on Thursday.
Analysis: Max Pacioretty's third career hat-trick moves him to fourth in goals among American-born skaters in the NHL. The former Michigan Wolverine has 26 goals on the season. He could've added two more goals Thursday night had he been able to convert on two penalty shots. Team USA will need this kind of production from the first-time Olympian as the Habs continue to fight for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

News: Max Pacioretty was given a therapy day and did not practice Wednesday, the Montreal Gazette reports. He is expected to suit up for Thursday night's game against the Canucks.

Habs' Pacioretty Nets No. 23

News: Max Pacioretty scored his 23rd goal of the season in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Bruins.

Habs' Pacioretty Snaps Small Skid

News: Max Pacioretty scored a goal and tacked on an assist in Tuesday's 3-0 win over Carolina.
Analysis: He'd gone scoreless with a minus-4 rating in his last three games, so the points as well as Tuesday's plus-2 are a nice boon to Max Pacioretty's fantasy owners. While Pacioretty has 11 points in 12 January games, four of those points came Jan. 2 against Dallas and two of them came Tuesday, leaving him with a very mediocre five points in 10 games in between these two fine efforts.
