Flyers' Bourdon Suffers Setback With Concussion

News: Marc-Andre Bourdon has suffered a setback in his recovery from concussion issues and is out indefinitely for AHL Adirondack, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: After a promising rookie campaign in 2011-12, the head injury kept Marc-Andre Bourdon off the ice for the entirety of the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season and those issues have now cropped up again. He felt well enough to join the AHL squad last month, but after banging his head on the glass in just his seventh game, the headaches and dizziness resurfaced. The Flyers may just opt to shut him down at this point with the hope that he can reemerge as a contributor next season.

Flyers' Bourdon Ready For Conditioning Assignment

News: Marc-Andre Bourdon (concussion) was activated from injured reserve Monday and sent out on a conditioning assignment with AHL Adirondack, Sarah Baicker of CSN Philadelphia reports.
Analysis: Marc-Andre Bourdon has been dealing with a concussion for over a calendar year, but it looks like he's nearing the finish line in what has been a long road to recovery. Still just 24 years old, Bourdon possesses plenty of potential for the Flyers, but after having not played competitive hockey since the 2011-12 campaign, it could take him a while to get back up to full speed.

Flyers' Bourdon Headed To AHL Next Week

News: Marc-Andre Bourdon (concussion) is expected to join AHL Adirondack next week on a conditioning assignment.
Analysis: Marc-Andre Bourdon has been sidelined for over a year with the concussion, but GM Paul Holmgren said Sunday that the 24-year-old blueliner has progressed to point where he can begin conditioning in the AHL. In 45 career games at the NHL level, Bourdon has recorded seven points (4G, 3A) and 52 penalty minutes.

Flyers' Bourdon (Concussion) To Open Season On LTIR

News: Flyers chairman Ed Snider said Marc-Andre Bourdon (concussion) would open the season on long-term injured reserve, CSN Philadelphia reports.
Analysis: The designation doesn't come as a surprise after Marc-Andre Bourdon still hasn't received clearance to play since sustaining the concussion last November. The team previously indicated optimism with how Bourdon's recovery has come along, but there's really no telling when or if he'll return this season.

Flyers' Bourdon (Concussion) Yet To Receive Clearance

News: Marc-Andre Bourdon has yet to receive clearance on the concussion he received last November, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Concussions in hockey produce notoriously volatile timetables, so there's no telling when Marc-Andre Bourdon may actually be cleared for full activities. In spite of the lengthy time off the ice, he's maintained an upbeat attitude, with GM Paul Holmgren saying that Bourdon's health is trending in the right direction.

Flyers' Bourdon Skates With Prospects

News: Marc-Andre Bourdon, whose 2012-13 season was cut short by a concussion, is skating with the Flyers' prospects at the team's development camp, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Marc-Andre Bourdon is hoping to be cleared for contact in about a week and from there, he'll work on earning a spot on the Flyers' defense this season. He had 45 games of NHL experience from his rookie year in 2010-11, but never had a chance to build on that because he suffered a concussion in December while skating in the AHL.

Flyers' Bourdon Dealing With Concussion

News: Marc-Andre Bourdon is currently dealing with a concussion, CSN Philly reports.
Analysis: This is far from Marc-Andre Bourdon's first concussion, as he's suffered multiple over the course of his career. "He has concussion issues," general manager Paul Holmgren said. "I'm concerned because he is out and not playing. But I think there has been players who have had a similar history like his and have been fine." Luckily, due to the lockout, he will have time to recover.

Offensive Breakout For Flyers' Bourdon

News: Marc-Andre Bourdon scored the game-tying goal six minutes into the third period Thursday against Buffalo, then assisted on Matt Read's game-winner late in the period as the Flyers won, 2-1.
Analysis: With seven points in 44 games for the Flyers this year and just four points in 18 AHL outings, Marc-Andre Bourdon isn't exactly known for his offense, but he skated more than 20 minutes in this one and produced accordingly.

Flyers Recall Bourdon

News: The Flyers have recalled Marc-Andre Bourdon from AHL Adirondack, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Marc-Andre Bourdon adds some depth to the Flyers' blue line and will temporarily replace Kimmo Timonen on Thursday night, but with just four points in 39 games thus far, he's only been of help for fantasy owners in the PIMs (46), hits (64) and blocks (65) categories.

Flyers' Bourdon Headed For AHL

News: The Flyers have loaned Marc-Andre Bourdon to AHL Adirondack, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Marc-Andre Bourdon has just four points in 39 games to date, so one would need to be digging really deep for PIMs (he has 46) for him to merit any sort of fantasy consideration.

News: Marc-Andre Bourdon finished Monday's loss to Carolina a plus-1 with two hits and two blocked shots in 15:49 of ice time.
Analysis: Marc-Andre Bourdon was one of two AHL defenders called up Monday to help the Flyers deal with injuries to Chris Pronger (virus) and Braydon Coburn (upper body). Bourdon made several big hits in the loss and likely will return to the AHL when the Flyers have their full complement of skaters.

Flyers' Bourdon Recalled

News: The Flyers recalled Marc-Andre Bourdon from Adirondack (AHL) Monday to fill in for the injured Braydon Coburn (undisclosed), the Flyers' official Twitter reports. The 2008 third-round draft pick will be making his NHL regular season debut.
Analysis: Marc-Andre Bourdon will skate in Coburn's place until he's healthy. Thus far Philly has kept the details on the injury under wraps, so it's unclear how long Bourdon will be a Flyer.

Bourdon inks entry-level deal

News: The Flyers have signed defenseman Marc-Andre Bourdon to an entry-level contract. "Marc-Andre turns pro after an outstanding 2008-09 season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he was honored for his play during the regular season and in the playoffs," Flyers general manager Paul Holmgrem said. "We believe Marc-Andre has tremendous potential to develop into a solid defenseman at the next level."
Analysis: The 19-year-old Bourdon split the 2008-09 season between the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL. He totaled 18 goals, 60 points and 112 penalty minutes in 54 games. Bourdon is a good puck-moving defenseman, but is still a bit away from making a Fantasy impact. He is nothing more than a long-term keeper.
