Jets Activate Clitsome

News: Grant Clitsome (lower body) was activated from injured reserve Saturday.
Analysis: Grant Clitsome didn't skate with a regular pairing during the team's morning session, so despite his activation, he could be a healthy scratch for the Jets on Saturday. Despite the absences of Clitsome and top-four blueliners Toby Enstrom and Zach Bogosian, the Jets have been playing quality hockey of late, which may make coach Paul Maurice reluctant to bring Clitsome back into the fold right away.

Jets Place Clitsome On Injured Reserve

News: The Jets placed Grant Clitsome (undisclosed) on injured reserve Monday.
Analysis: Grant Clitsome will be out another week and a half, so the Jets placed him on injured reserve to open up a roster spot for Patrice Cormier.

Jets Rule Clitsome Out For Two Weeks

News: Grant Clitsome (undisclosed) has been ruled out for two weeks, Paul Friesen of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: While Grant Clitsome (one point in 16 games) isn't exactly an essential component to the Jets' success, his absence couldn't come at a more inconvenient time, as Tobias Enstrom (lower body) and Zach Bogosian (lower body) were both ruled out with long-term injuries Thursday. The Jets recalled Julien Brouillette from AHL St. John's to temporarily restore some depth on defense, while Dustin Byfuglien could also move over from forward to help out on the blue line.

Jets' Clitsome To Sit Wednesday

News: Grant Clitsome is dealing with an undisclosed injury and won't play Wednesday against the Oilers, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Despite missing Tuesday's practice, Grant Clitsome was expected to suit up Wednesday, but that never materialized. The Jets recalled Ben Chiarot from AHL St. John's on Tuesday, and he'll slot in for Clitsome, forming a pair with Zach Bogosian.

Jets' Clitsome Gets Assist In First Appearance

News: Grant Clitsome made his season debut for the Jets on Tuesday versus the Hurricanes, recording an assist in his 15:24 of action.
Analysis: Grant Clitsome had been a healthy scratch for the Jets' first five games, but his performance Tuesday may be enough to get him more regular run in the lineup. In addition to his offensive exploits, Clitsome was active on his own end against Carolina, accumulating four hits.

Jets' Clitsome Likely Out For Opener

News: It appears Grant Clitsome will be a healthy scratch for Thursday's season opener against the Coyotes, Tim Campbell of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: After seeing his 2013-14 season end early due to back surgery in December, Grant Clitsome is healthy again, but he'll have to wake just a little bit longer before returning to game action. Prior to undergoing surgery, Clitsome was in the midst of the best season of his career, as he notched 12 points in 32 games and was on track to reach the triple digits in both hits and blocks. Now 29, Clitsome could see his minutes load lightened this season in an effort to preserve him for the long haul. He'll give way to Adam Pardy on defense Thursday.

Jets' Clitsome Done For Season

News: Grant Clitsome has undergone season-ending back surgery, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Prior to his injury, Grant Clitsome recorded 12 points in 32 contests for the Jets. The 28-year-old blueliner is under contract with the team through the 2015-16 season.

Jets' Clitsome Slow To Make Progress

News: Coach Claude Noel said Grant Clitsome (back) "hasn't been able to do much" since landing on injured reserve, Tim Campbell of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Grant Clitsome has been dealing with back issues for about three weeks now, but it seems he still doesn't have a concrete timetable for his return. There's been no news about him practicing even as a non-contact participant, suggesting the defenseman isn't slated to return anytime soon.

Jets' Clitsome Dealing With Back Issue

News: Grant Clitsome's undisclosed injury is a back ailment, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: The Jets went ahead and moved Grant Clitsome to IR on Thursday to afford him further recovery time while opening up a roster spot. He has yet to resume skating and it's not certain when he might return from IR.

Jets' Clitsome Placed On IR

News: Grant Clitsome (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Thursday.
Analysis: Grant Clitsome has already missed more than a week with the still unspecified injury, so he'll be eligible to return at any time, but clearly he's not ready to go Friday against Minnesota. Julian Melchiori was recalled to provide some depth along the blue line.

Jets' Clitsome Out Friday

News: Grant Clitsome (undisclosed) will not play Friday vs. the Panthers.
Analysis: Coach Claude Noel said that Grant Clitsome "wasn't feeling great," but didn't elaborate further on why the defenseman was absent from morning skate. It would seem whatever injury he's concealing is probably minor, so for now, fantasy owners can anticipate having Clitsome back in their lineups Sunday vs. the Canucks.

Jets' Clitsome Tallies Three Points

News: Grant Clitsome scored a goal and added two assists Sunday against the Sharks. He was also a plus-3.
Analysis: Grant Clitsome is not a points contributor, so this game is a fluke. Plus, even with his plus-3 night, he is a minus-8 on the season.

Jets' Clitsome Pots First

News: Grant Clitsome broke through with his first point of the year Tuesday, scoring a goal in a shootout loss to Washington.
Analysis: With just 56 points in 155 career NHL games, Grant Clitsome's utility is limited to deep fantasy formats. He's not even of much use for PIMs, hits or blocks.

Jets' Clitsome Returns Sunday

News: Grant Clitsome played 15:15 and was minus-1 with four penalty minutes against the Ducks on Sunday.
Analysis: After missing the first two games of the season, Grant Clitsome's return bumped Adam Pardy from the roster prior to Sunday's game. Clitsome quietly chipped in 16 points in 44 games for Winnipeg in the lockout-shortened campaign last season.

Jets' Clitsome Healthy

News: Grant Clitsome (lower body) will play Sunday against the Ducks, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: The move means Grant Clitsome will be activated off IR, so the jets will need to make room on the active roster for him. Defenseman Adam Pardy is the best bet to be sent down to AHL St. John's at this point, since he has already cleared waivers. Clitsome registered four goals and 12 assists in 44 games last season with the Jets.

Jets' Clitsome Present At Morning Skate

News: Grant Clitsome (lower body) was on the ice for Sunday's morning skate, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Reports earlier this week suggested that the blueliner may be available for Sunday's contest with the Ducks, and that seems likely now that he took the morning skate. He'll still need to be activated from IR before the game, and fellow defenseman Adam Pardy will likely be sent down to AHL St. John's to make room.

Jets' Clitsome Could Play Sunday

News: Coach Claude Noel said Grant Clitsome (lower body) could be available Sunday, the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Though he remains on injured reserve, Grant Clitsome's injury is viewed as day-to-day and there's some growing optimism he'll be back in the fold in short order. Clitsome would likely need to practice Saturday and take part in morning skate Sunday to convince Noel he's ready for game action.

Jets' Clitsome Doesn't Skate Thursday

News: Grant Clitsome (lower body) did not skate Thursday, the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Grant Clitsome's failure to return to practice Thursday suggests he won't play Friday against Los Angeles. He's on injured reserve and there's no clear timetable for when he might return.

Jets Place Clitsome On IR

News: The Jets placed Grant Clitsome (undisclosed) on injured reserve Monday.
Analysis: The Jets have yet to announce what is ailing Grant Clitsome, but he will not open the year on the Jets' roster. Clitsome was added to IR retroactive to Sept. 26, so though it remains to be seen how long he will be out, he will be eligible to be activated as early as Thursday.

Jets Re-Sign Defenseman Clitsome

News: Grant Clitsome re-signed with the Jets on a three-year, $6.2 million deal Tuesday, the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Grant Clitsome proved to be a reliable cog of the Jets' defensive unit last season, accruing 16 points and a plus-10 rating in 44 games. The contract should only further solidify Clitsome's spot on the Jets' second defensive pairing.

Jets' Clitsome Notches Two Helpers

News: Citsome posted two assists and finished with a plus-2 rating in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Islanders on Saturday.
Analysis: Grant Clitsome had a golden opportunity to win the game for the Jets in overtime, clanking a point shot off of the post. For fantasy purposes, Clitsome is no more than a plug-and-play option unless you're in a head-to-head league and find yourself behind in the plus/minus category, as he's a plus-10 this season.

Jets' Clitsome Notches Goal

News: Grant Clitsome scored the Jets' first goal of the game in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Flyers.
Analysis: It's good to see Grant Clitsome back in the lineup for the Jets as he had been out earlier in the week with an eye injury. The goal he scored on Saturday gives him three on the year to go with nine assists, a respectable total for a defenseman after 36 games played. That said, Dustin Byfuglien and Tobias Enstrom are the team's go-to guys on the back end, so Clitsome is more of a spot start fantasy wise if at all.

Jets' Clitsome Doubtful For Tuesday

News: Grant Clitsome (eye) is not expected to play Tuesday against the Islanders, the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Grant Clitsome got hit in the left eye with a stick Monday night during the Jets' 4-2 loss to the Rangers. Head coach Claude Noel said the defenseman's eye is swollen shut, but there doesn't appear to be any serious damage, and the team is considering Clitsome day-to-day for now.

Jets' Clitsome (Face) Will Not Return Monday

News: Grant Clitsome (face) will not return to Monday's game, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: The stick of teammate Alex Burmistrov caught Grant Clitsome underneath the visor, and he left with an apparent injury to his face or eye. Consider him day-to-day until the Jets elaborate on the ailment.

Jets' Clitsome Exits Monday's Game

News: Grant Clitsome left Monday's game against the Rangers after Alex Burmistrov's stick hit him under the visor.
Analysis: Grant Clitsome's status for the remainder of Monday's game is unclear. If he can't return, consider the 27-year-old day-to-day until more information becomes available.
