Flyers' Del Zotto Will Play Saturday

News: Michael Del Zotto (lower body) will play Saturday against the Blue Jackets, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: With the Flyers deciding to roll seven blueliners for Saturday's matchup, we can assume Michael Del Zotto will be one of them. He's racked up two goals and six assists in 17 games so far with his new team.

Flyers' Del Zotto Questionable For Saturday

News: Michael Del Zotto is questionable for Saturday's game against the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto left Wednesday's game with the lower-body injury, and it caused him to miss Thursday's contest as well. With the return of multiple players earlier in the week, the team could take a precautionary route in their handling of Del Zotto.

Flyers' Del Zotto Out Thursday

News: Michael Del Zotto (lower body) will not play Thursday against the Wild.
Analysis: The severity of Michael Del Zotto's injury remains unknown, but the impending return of Andrew MacDonald (lower body) and perhaps Luke Schenn (upper body) should the lessen the blow of his absence Thursday. Consider Del Zotto day-to-day until the Flyers provide more information regarding his condition.

Flyers' Del Zotto (Lower Body) Questionable Thurs.

News: Michael Del Zotto suffered a lower-body injury Wednesday against the Rangers and is questionable for Thursday's game versus the Wild, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto went minus-1 over 16:09 of ice time before leaving the game after his only shift in the third period. The Flyers will see if he heals up enough over a night to take part in the team's morning skate, but if not, either Andrew MacDonald (foot) or Luke Schenn (upper body) could be cleared to return from their respective injuries to replace Del Zotto in the lineup.

Flyers' Del Zotto Leaves With Undisclosed Injury

News: Michael Del Zotto left Wednesday's game against the Rangers in the third period with an undisclosed injury, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto skated just one shift in the period before heading for the locker room, with the Flyers declining to elaborate on his condition. The team is expecting Andrew MacDonald (foot) and Luke Schenn (upper body) back in the fold perhaps as soon as Thursday's game against the Wild, which could provide the team with some cushion if Del Zotto is forced to miss some time. Del Zotto had been enjoying something of a bounce-back in his first season with the Flyers, netting two goals and six assists over 17 games.

Del Zotto Scores First Goal With Flyers

News: Michael Del Zotto scored his first goal as a Flyer on Thursday, and it turned out to be the game-winner in a 4-1 decision over the Panthers.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto's been surprisingly successful in his new environs, with seven points now in 13 games, but before Thursday, he hadn't been putting many pucks on net. In fact, he hadn't had more than one shot on goal in a game since Oct. 18 (when he had two) before Thursday's three-shot performance led to him breaking through with his first goal. MDZ's proven to be a more-than-competent fourth defenseman for fantasy purposes in the early going.

Flyers' Del Zotto Adds Assist In Win

News: Michael Del Zotto collected a helper in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Oilers.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto has six points -- all assists -- in 12 games this season. Last season, he had just 16 points in 77 games. This season was characterized as a redemption season for the still-young and once-promising defenseman, and so far so good. That said, he's an offense-first defenseman, so use him accordingly.

Flyers' Del Zotto Sets Up Two Goals In Win

News: Michael Del Zotto assisted on two goals in the Flyers' 4-2 win over the Red Wings on Saturday.
Analysis: With both Andrew MacDonald and Braydon Coburn ruled out for four weeks with lower-body injuries, Michael Del Zotto saw a season-high 22:37 of action, making the most of it with the two dishes. The 24-year-old looked like he was on the verge of washing out of the league following his tepid play the previous two seasons with the Rangers and Predators, but he's done well during his time with the Flyers to salvage his stalling career. Del Zotto's spotty play in his own zone probably makes him less than ideal as a top-four contributor for the Flyers, but with five points in eight games, it's easy to recognize the fantasy appeal.

Flyers' Del Zotto Assists In Defeat

News: Michael Del Zotto assisted on Jakub Voracek's game-tying third-period goal in Tuesday's shootout loss to the Ducks.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto's stock has plummeted considerably since his 41-point showing in the 2011-12 season, but the 24-year-old still has some upside to offer as a puck-mover. Even so, he's likely only holding down a regular spot on the Philadelphia blue line due to a lack of better options. Del Zotto is still something of a liability in his own end, and it wouldn't be surprising if his minus-4 rating only worsens from here.

Flyers Ink Del Zotto To One-Year Deal

News: Michael Del Zotto signed a one-year deal with the Flyers on Tuesday.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto played in 67 games last season with the Rangers and Predators, scoring a total of three goals on the year. He'll provide the Flyers with defensive depth, but it's currently unclear if the 24-year-old will serve in a top-four role.

Free Agent Del Zotto Talking To Suitors

News: Michael Del Zotto remains a free agent past the mid-point of July, but he's not disappointed. "It's motivating," said the defender this week at a charity golf tournament. "This summer is the hardest I've ever worked."
Analysis: He says he's been talking to "a bunch" of teams, but he wouldn't reveal how many or which ones. "I'm just waiting for the right opportunity to prove myself again," he said, "and prove everybody who's doubted me wrong." He'll need top-four minutes and a job on the power play to be fantasy relevant again. There just aren't a lot of those gigs out there.

Preds Move On From Del Zotto

News: The Predators have not extended a qualifying offer to Michael Del Zotto, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: The Preds were unable to trade or re-sign Michael Del Zotto, so the 24-year-old blueliner will become an unrestricted free agent following a season in which he recorded 16 points in 67 games combined between the Rangers and Preds.

Preds Admit Del Zotto "Not A Fit"

News: Predators' general manager David Poile admitted Sunday that Michael Del Zotto is "not a fit" currently with the team and he's exploring a trade that would move the young defender out of town.
Analysis: There's also a chance they may just jettison him by not qualifying him (he's an RFA). We knew he'd been a colossal flop in Nashville, but this is incredible. Months ago, former Barry Trotz told reporters that Michael Del Zotto's game had slipped. Now, it seems that no team is interested in his services. Wow.

Preds' Del Zotto Scores Goal In Loss Friday

News: Michael Del Zotto scored just his third goal of the season during Friday's loss to the Stars.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto has been a colossal disappointment for Nashville since they acquired him from the Rangers in January and was actually benched last week for poor decision-making on the ice, particularly in his own zone. Since that benching he has a goal and an assist over his last four games, but more importantly, he has an even rating in that span. He's got eight games left this season to prove himself to the Predators or he could be headed out the door as quickly as he arrived.

Preds Bench Del Zotto

News: Michael Del Zotto sat out Wednesday's game against Vancouver as a healthy scratch, the Tennessean reports. "[Del Zotto]'s game has slipped, and our coaching staff has talked to him about making solid decisions, solid plays and he has gotten away from that a little bit," coach Barry Trotz said.
Analysis: When the Preds acquired Michael Del Zotto from the Rangers back in January, Trotz originally said they were going to "let him loose" in order to capitalize on his offensive abilities, but that philosophy seems to have changed. In the 18 games he's played as a Predator, Del Zotto has zero goals and just three assists. Furthermore, he's been a dreadful liability in his own zone lately, with a combined minus-6 rating over his last three games, which no doubt prompted Wednesday's benching. Anyone who was expecting Del Zotto to return to his high-scoring ways from two seasons ago has been sadly disappointed. At this point, it remains to be seen if, or even when, he will get a chance to get back into the lineup.

Preds' Del Zotto: Just Two Points In 10 Games

News: Michael Del Zotto picked up just his second point as a member of the Predators in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Jets. He has two assists in 10 games in his new home.
Analysis: His ice time was at 12:21. Barry Trotz might just be the man to iron out the wrinkles in this talented defender's game. We suspect his production is going to suffer while he works on his own-zone play. Keeper leaguers should keep the faith, but single-year owners need to weigh the risks and act accordingly.

Del Zotto Tallies First Point With Nashville

News: Michael Del Zotto collected his first point in a Predators jersey Tuesday, assisting on Seth Jones' first-period goal in a 4-3 win over the Jets.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto had gone without a point in his first three games since coming over in a trade from the Rangers, but has looked like an asset on defense in his new surroundings thus far. DZ's defensive-zone play was an issue with the Rangers and a big reason that his offense declined so precipitously over the last couple years, so it's good to see him displaying better play overall in his new environs.

Del Zotto Impresses In Debut With Preds

News: Michael Del Zotto went pointless in his debut as a Predator during Thursday's 3-1 win over the Canucks. However, coach Barry Trotz was impressed with what he saw. "I liked a lot of things [Del Zotto] did," Trotz said. "He had good compete for me, his puck management was really good. Especially since he hadn't played with us. I was really happy with his effort."
Analysis: Despite the glowing reviews, Michael Del Zotto only saw 13:15 worth of ice time skating on the second pairing with rookie Seth Jones. Until he starts seeing something in the range of 20 minutes per night with some power-play time thrown in, he is not likely to make a noticeable fantasy impact in most formats. Keep an eye on how Trotz uses him going forward before inserting him into your lineups.

Preds Hoping Del Zotto Can Bolster Scoring

News: Michael Del Zotto will be allowed to utilize his offensive abilities when he makes his Predators debut Thursday against the Canucks, the Tennessean reports. "We're going to let him loose," coach Barry Trotz said.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto looked like an emerging offensive force from the blue line when he recorded 41 points and a +20 rating in 77 games for the Rangers in 2011-12, however his defensive abilities soon began to come into question. As a result, Del Zotto frequently found himself serving as a healthy scratch for much of the past two seasons prior to getting traded to Nashville. The Preds, who are looking for additional firepower from the blue line to complement the likes of Shea Weber, Seth Jones and Roman Josi, are hoping that a change of scenery will do Del Zotto some good and that he can contribute to what has been one of the NHL's more mediocre offensive attacks. Wait and see how Del Zotto does in his first few games before you throw him into your fantasy lineups.

Del Zotto Traded To Predators

News: Michael Del Zotto was traded to the Predators on Wednesday in exchange for Kevin Klein, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto was in coach Alain Vigneault's dog house earlier this season, so a trade has been rumored for a while now. He'll take his two goals and 11 assists to Nashville, where he'll be expected to pitch in as a puck moving defenseman immediately. He could be a nice upside pickup in light of the change of scenery, as he managed to score at a 0.5 point-per-game pace in his previous two campaigns.

Rangers' Del Zotto Extend Streak In Win

News: Michael Del Zotto registered a power-play assist in Wednesday's 3-2 win over Chicago.
Analysis: That's a season-high three-game point streak for MDZ. The 23-year-old blueliner, who has been in and out of head coach Alain Vigneault's dog house this season, appears to be picking up the pace. Should the production continue, you have to wonder whether it strengthens his status with Vigneault or simply increases Michael Del Zotto's trade value. The 23-year-old is minus-6 with two goals and eight assists in 35 games played.

Rangers' Del Zotto Soured?

News: Michael Del Zotto registered an assist and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 7-1 victory over Toronto.
Analysis: After serving as a healthy scratch in the team's previous two tilts, speculative reports suggest the defenseman's agent got involved and forced the hand of head coach Alain Vigneault. Whatever happened, MDZ was one of five different Rangers' blue liners that registered a point in the win, so it's difficult to suggest whether his status with Vigneault has changed. It appears the only certainty surrounding the once highly touted Michael Del Zotto is that his days on Broadway could be numbered.

Rangers' Del Zotto To Sit Tuesday

News: Michael Del Zotto will watch Tuesday's tilt against the Panthers from the press box, reports Andrew Gross of The Record.
Analysis: With Anton Stralman (wrist) and Marc Staal (concussion) returning to the lineup, someone had to sit. While MDZ and Justin Falk are the odd men out on New Year's Eve, inconsistent play has left head coach Alain Vigneault juggling lines all season. Vigneault reportedly used the word "jittery" when referring to the veteran defenseman's puck-handling skills of late. Already a subject of trade rumors, the possibility of Stralman and/or Staal re-aggravating their respective injuries leaves MDZ with an opportunity to get back into the lineup. For those still holding onto the 23-year-old, the short-term fantasy future just got a little more uncertain.

Rangers' Del Zotto Close To Be Shipped Out?

News: Despite not having registered a point in five games, multiple rumors continue to swirl about a trade involving Michael Del Zotto's services.
Analysis: After starting his career with 89 points in his first 204 career games, in addition to being a defensive liability at times, Michael Del Zotto has since been a shadow of himself offensively. MDZ is considered to be a reclamation project that simply needs a change of scenery and has been rumored in deals to Toronto, Florida and Ottawa to name a few. The veteran blue-liner is a minus-8 with seven points (two goals) through 30 games played.

Rangers' Del Zotto Gets Goal In Return

News: Michael Del Zotto connected on a power-play goal in the Rangers' 5-2 win over the Canucks on Saturday.
Analysis: Entering the lineup for the first time in three games, Michael Del Zotto finally showed some offensive involvement Saturday, registering his fifth point of the season. He's still been a huge underachiever for both the Rangers and fantasy owners alike, and he'll need to string together a few productive outings before fully distancing himself from coach Alain Vigneault's doghouse.
