Flyers' Del Zotto Adds Two Assists Wednesday

News: Michael Del Zotto collected two assists in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: The blueliner has only suited up for 57 games this season, but with nine goals and 19 assists, he's closing in on his third season of 30 points or more.

Flyers' Del Zotto Back In Thursday

News: Michael Del Zotto (upper body) will play Thursday against the Flames, Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
Analysis: The return of Michael Del Zotto provides the Flyers with not only one of their most effective scorers from the blue line, but on the entire team. Over his last 21 games prior to missing six contests with the upper-body injury, Del Zotto notched 16 points; only forward Wayne Simmonds put up as many points during that span. The Flyers reassigned Brandon Manning to AHL Lehigh Valley to clear the way for Del Zotto's return to the lineup.

Flyers' Del Zotto Expects To Play Thursday

News: Michael Del Zotto (upper body) said that he's ready to return to the lineup Thursday against the Flames, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto has missed the last six games with the upper-body injury, but is traveling with the Flyers on their four-game road trip and has been able to resume practicing with the club. Evidently, he's made enough progress in the eyes of the medical staff, though his return to the lineup likely won't be formally confirmed until after Thursday's morning skate. With nine goals and 26 points on the campaign -- both of which trail only Mark Streit among Flyers blueliners -- Del Zotto could earn a contract extension before the season comes to a close.

Flyers' Del Zotto Remains Out

News: Michael Del Zotto (upper body) won't play Tuesday against the Canucks, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Per the report, Michael Del Zotto -- last played on March 7 -- is a candidate to return to action as soon as Thursday against the Flames.

Flyers' Del Zotto To Sit Sunday

News: Michael Del Zotto (upper body) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Senators, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto will travel with the Flyers for their four-game road trip that kicks off Sunday and ends Mar. 21 in Edmonton. It seems more likely than not that the blueliner won't be available until the latter end of the trip at the earliest, since he remains limited to skating on his own for the time being.

Flyers' Del Zotto Not Noticing Much Improvement

News: Michael Del Zotto (upper body) skated on his own prior to Friday's practice, Tim Panaccio of CSN Philadelphia reports.
Analysis: According to the report, Michael Del Zotto was on the ice for about 15 minutes, but didn't appear to be very comfortable while skating. With that in mind, it appears safe to rule him out for Saturday's game against the Red Wings, while a return for Sunday's game in Ottawa remains similarly shrouded in doubt.

Flyers' Del Zotto 'Very Doubtful' For Saturday

News: General manager Ron Hextall said that Michael Del Zotto (upper body) is "very doubtful" to play Saturday against the Red Wings, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto plans to skate Friday to test out how much progress he has made with the injury, but it doesn't sound like he's closing in on a return just yet. However, if Del Zotto is able to demonstrate that he's reasonably healthy when he gets back on the ice, the Flyers might be more willing to let him play Sunday in Ottawa for the second game of a back-to-back.

Flyers' Del Zotto Sidelined

News: Michael Del Zotto will miss 7-10 days due to an upper-body injury, the Flyers' official site reports.
Analysis: Per the report, look for Brandon Manning, who is slated to be paired with Andrew MacDonald, to fill in for Michael Del Zotto, beginning Sunday against New Jersey.

Flyers' Del Zotto Scores In Win

News: Michael Del Zotto lit the lamp in Thursday's 3-1 win over St. Louis.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto has two goals in his last three contests and seems to have stepped up his game since the departure via trade of fellow defenseman Braydon Coburn. He's worth a look if you're struggling for defensive production.

Flyers' Del Zotto Scores Game-Winner

News: Michael Del Zotto potted the eventual game-winner against his former club in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Rangers.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto has four points in his last five games, and his ice time has been steadily ticking up. The former first-round pick has a big upside if he can continue this solid play. He's still available in most leagues, and could make a solid pickup as the Flyers push for the playoffs.

Good Times Keep Rolling For Flyers' Del Zotto

News: Michael Del Zotto contributed a power-play assist, five shots on goal, and three hits across 24:18 of ice time in Thursday's loss to the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto's surge since about the midway point of the season has endeared him to both his fantasy owners and the Flyers, who are sure to kick the tires on an extension for the 24-year-old. With his ice time on the rise and his production starting to match his talent, Del Zotto should remain a valuable commodity the rest of the way.

Del Zotto Carries Flyers' Offense In Loss

News: Michael Del Zotto factored into both Flyers goals Tuesday in a 5-2 loss to Columbus, notching the primary assist on the first and scoring the second himself.
Analysis: At the time, DZ's goal tied the game at 2-2, but the Jackets went on to score three unanswered in the final period. Nonetheless, the 24-year-old blueliner continues to produce steadily, as he's found the scoresheet nine times in the last 12 games, totaling 11 points in that span.

Flyers' Del Zotto Catching Fire, Scores In Win

News: Michael Del Zotto extended his point streak to six games Saturday, scoring the game's only goal in a win over Toronto.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto now has more points this season (17) than he had in all of last season split between the Rangers and Predators (16). Averaging 20:35 of ice time and oozing with newfound confidence, Del Zotto could make for a great pick-up in deeper formats. The former 40-point-getter is only 24-years-old and still has plenty of offensive potential. What a resurgence.

Flyers' Del Zotto: Point Streak Hits Five

News: Michael Del Zotto extended his point streak to five games with an assist in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Jets.
Analysis: For seemingly the first time in three seasons, Michael Del Zotto is again flashing the puck-moving abilities that made him an intriguing dynasty-league commodity during his early years with the Rangers. Del Zotto's overall numbers look much more modest (15 points, minus-7 over 37 games), but since he's still relatively young (24 years old) and we've seen him score at high rates in the past, it's not a bad idea to go out and grab him with the hope that the recent uptick in production continues.

Four-Game Streak For Flyers' Del Zotto

News: Michael Del Zotto pushed his point streak to four games Tuesday, scoring a second-period goal in a shootout win over the Coyotes.
Analysis: This little hot streak has been quite a boon for those patient enough (or in sufficiently deep leagues) to still be holding Michael Del Zotto. For the rest of you, it may be worth looking into picking him up for the back end of your fantasy blue line.

Flyers' MDZ Runs Point Streak To Three

News: Michael Del Zotto extended his point streak to three games with an assist in Tuesday's win over the Penguins.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto would also add four PIM and four hits to his ledger over 21:56 of action. A frequent healthy scratch for the Flyers throughout December, Del Zotto has since reemerged as a lineup regular and has been holding his own of late. Aside from Mark Streit, he might possess the most offensive potential of any of the Flyers' blueliners.

Flyers' Del Zotto Gets Two Points

News: Michael Del Zotto delivered two assists in a 4-3 win over Buffalo on Saturday night.
Analysis: His fantasy value is sorely limited. He has just 12 points on the season and they come few and far between. He does lay hits and blocked shots, so perhaps he can help in formats that count those categories.

Flyers' Del Zotto Returns

News: Michael Del Zotto will rejoin the Philadelphia lineup for Wednesday's game against the Avalanche, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto checks back in after serving as a healthy scratch for the previous nine contests. He'll probably need a strong performance Wednesday to justify a more permanent stay in the lineup.

Flyers' Del Zotto A Scratch Thursday

News: Michael Del Zotto will be a healthy scratch Thursday against the Devils, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: He'll be replaced in the lineup by Luke Schenn, who had sat out the previous two games as a healthy scratch. Michael Del Zotto is one of the more intriguing Flyers blueliners because of his offensive abilities, but like many of his compatriots on defense, he's not especially strong in his own zone, which could result in the occasional deployment in the press box.

Flyers Scratch Del Zotto On Tuesday

News: Michael Del Zotto will be a healthy scratch Tuesday against the Sharks, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: The Flyers have been playing some brutal hockey of late, so it would seem coach Craig Berube is tinkering with his lineup in an attempt to awaken the team. Michael Del Zotto isn't the only player underachieving during the team's four-game losing streak, but with no points and a minus-6 rating during that span, he certainly hasn't been pulling his weight.

Flyers' Del Zotto Will Play Saturday

News: Michael Del Zotto (lower body) will play Saturday against the Blue Jackets, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: With the Flyers deciding to roll seven blueliners for Saturday's matchup, we can assume Michael Del Zotto will be one of them. He's racked up two goals and six assists in 17 games so far with his new team.

Flyers' Del Zotto Questionable For Saturday

News: Michael Del Zotto is questionable for Saturday's game against the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto left Wednesday's game with the lower-body injury, and it caused him to miss Thursday's contest as well. With the return of multiple players earlier in the week, the team could take a precautionary route in their handling of Del Zotto.

Flyers' Del Zotto Out Thursday

News: Michael Del Zotto (lower body) will not play Thursday against the Wild.
Analysis: The severity of Michael Del Zotto's injury remains unknown, but the impending return of Andrew MacDonald (lower body) and perhaps Luke Schenn (upper body) should the lessen the blow of his absence Thursday. Consider Del Zotto day-to-day until the Flyers provide more information regarding his condition.

Flyers' Del Zotto (Lower Body) Questionable Thurs.

News: Michael Del Zotto suffered a lower-body injury Wednesday against the Rangers and is questionable for Thursday's game versus the Wild, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto went minus-1 over 16:09 of ice time before leaving the game after his only shift in the third period. The Flyers will see if he heals up enough over a night to take part in the team's morning skate, but if not, either Andrew MacDonald (foot) or Luke Schenn (upper body) could be cleared to return from their respective injuries to replace Del Zotto in the lineup.

Flyers' Del Zotto Leaves With Undisclosed Injury

News: Michael Del Zotto left Wednesday's game against the Rangers in the third period with an undisclosed injury, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Michael Del Zotto skated just one shift in the period before heading for the locker room, with the Flyers declining to elaborate on his condition. The team is expecting Andrew MacDonald (foot) and Luke Schenn (upper body) back in the fold perhaps as soon as Thursday's game against the Wild, which could provide the team with some cushion if Del Zotto is forced to miss some time. Del Zotto had been enjoying something of a bounce-back in his first season with the Flyers, netting two goals and six assists over 17 games.
