Grant Re-Signs With Sens

News: Alex Grant has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Senators.
Analysis: Alex Grant, who was acquired from the Ducks at the NHL trade deadline in March, will reprise his role as a depth blueliner for the Sens. The 25-year-old scored two goals in two games with the Ducks last season, but spent most of his time in the AHL (between Norfolk and Binghamton), notching 37 points in 71 games.

News: Alex Grant was dealt to the Senators on Wednesday in exchange for prospect Andre Petersson, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: Alex Grant will be on hand to bolster AHL Binghamton's depth on defense, where they've had troubles with stopping the puck, not unlike the parent club. The 25-year-old had 20 points in 52 games for AHL Norfolk this season.

Analysis: Alex Grant will return to Norfolk after an impressive stint with the Ducks in which he scored two goals in two games. He has six goals and six assists in 19 games with Norfolk so far, and could be called up again down the line.

News: Alex Grant has 20 points in his last 21 games for the Wilkes-Barre Baby Penguins, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Analysis: Alex Grant, a fourth-round pick in 2007, has spent much of his career on the injured list. He now has 15 power-play points, sixth among AHL defenders, and has boosted his stock with a plus-11 rating in 2011-12. "The way he's playing right now is definitely putting himself in a good situation not only for our team, but for himself and for his career," coach John Hynes said.

Pens' Grant Suffers Broken Wrist, Whiplash

News: Grant suffered a broken wrist and whiplash as the result of a collision during Saturday's prospect game, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: It was initially feared that Grant may have suffered more severe head and neck injuries, so the news was good. Grant was released from the hospital and will be re-examined in Pittsburgh.

News: Grant was taken off the ice in a prospects tourney game on Saturday after taking a hit from behind from Ottawa's Dave Dziurzynski, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Medics immobilized Grant's neck. He's been taken to a local hospital for observation. Grant totaled 27 points in 40 ECHL games and added five more in 14 AHL contests in his first pro season in 2009-10.
