Jets' Hutchinson Victorious In Season Finale

News: Michael Hutchinson stopped 24 of 25 shots in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Flames.
Analysis: Making his first appearance since March 24, Michael Hutchinson played solidly in this one, albeit against a Flames team that was resting several regulars -- including their top three scorers. Ondrej Pavelec is the clear-cut starter heading into Winnipeg's Round 1 matchup with the Ducks, but if he should falter, Hutch is a capable fill-in, as he put up a respectable 2.39 GAA and .914 save percentage in 38 appearances this season.

Jets' Hutchinson To Start Regular-Season Finale

News: Michael Hutchinson will get the start in Saturday's regular-season finale against the Flames, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: With the Jets having little left to play for, Connor Hellebuyck will serve as Michael Hutchinson's backup, while Ondrej Pavelec will merely rest up for the playoffs. Though he's mostly had a surprisingly strong campaign, Hutchinson lost each of his last three starts, giving up 10 goals on just 54 shots over that stretch.

Jets' Hutchinson Takes Loss To Canucks

News: Michael Hutchinson gave up three goals on 28 shots during Tuesday's 5-2 loss to Vancouver.
Analysis: At least his line wasn't as bad as the final score, as the Canucks potted a pair of empty-netters. But it's also a weak outing for a guy who desperately needed to turn in a better effort with the way Ondrej Pavelec's been outplaying him. Michael Hutchinson has been tagged for 10 goals on just 54 shots over his last three games.

Jets' Hutchinson Gets Call Tuesday

News: Michael Hutchinson will be in the crease for Tuesday's game against the Canucks, Tim Campbell of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson has been a spectator of late with Ondrej Pavelec effectively reclaiming the Jets' No. 1 goalie gig, as the latter has rattled off five consecutive wins while surrendering a grand total of five goals in those contests. The second half of a back-to-back set will open the door for Hutchinson to get back in the net, but even with a stellar performance Tuesday, coach Paul Maurice probably isn't inclined to go back to a timeshare between the two goalies. Until Pavelec begins to scuffle again, the starting job will be almost exclusively his.

Jets' Hutchinson Struggles Again In Loss

News: Michael Hutchinson gave up three goals on 19 shots Thursday in a 4-2 loss to Florida.
Analysis: The inconsistent play continues from Michael Hutchinson, who's now given up seven goals on just 26 shots in the last two games. Fortunately for him, putting Ondrej Pavelec out there doesn't help the Jets much -- nor would it be much help to fantasy owners. But we'd still like to see Hutch return to something resembling the level that made him one of the fantasy game's most sought-after commodities on the wire.

Jets Stick With Hutchinson

News: Michael Hutchinson is slated to start Thursday's game against the Panthers, Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson, who will thus make his eighth consecutive start for Jets, will look to bounce back from Tuesday's tough outing against the Blues, in which he was was pulled in the second period after giving up four goals on just seven shots.

Disaster Start For Jets' Hutchinson

News: Michael Hutchinson was pulled a little more than midway through the second period Tuesday against St. Louis after giving up four goals on only seven shots.
Analysis: An absolutely brutal outing for Michael Hutchinson, and one made all the worse by Ondrej Pavelec's solid relief work. After putting up some of the finest goaltending numbers in the league prior to the All-Star break, Hutchinson has struggled mightily in post-break action. He's now delivered sub-.900 save marks in a whopping eight of his 14 appearances since the break. The only saving grace for Hutchinson right now is that Pavelec has been similarly inconsistent.

Jets Stick With Hutchinson on Tuesday

News: Michael Hutchinson is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Blues, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson, who will be making his seventh consecutive start for Jets, is coming off a strong effort in Saturday's win over Nashville, in which he made 20 saves on 21 shots. He'll square off against the Blues' Brian Elliott on Tuesday.

Jets' Hutchinson Takes Down Predators

News: Michael Hutchinson made 20 saves on 21 shots in Saturday's win over Nashville.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson now advances to 20-8-5 on the season with a .918 save percentage and 2.30 GAA. Considering he's allowed two goals or less in four of his last five starts and has suffered just one regulation loss in his last 10 appearances, the Jets are likely to keep riding him down the stretch. Use him well.

Jets' Hutchinson To Make Sixth Straight Start

News: Michael Hutchinson will make his sixth consecutive start Saturday against the Predators, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: At long last, coach Paul Maurice appears to have settled on Michael Hutchinson as his No. 1 goalie, despite the fact that the rookie's ratios have been trending in the wrong direction for more than a month. He's just 5-4-3 with a 3.08 GAA and .886 save percentage over his 12 outings since the All-Star break, numbers that probably make him best suited as a matchups-based play. Though the Predators are in a bit of a funk with losses in five straight games, it will still be difficult to count on Hutchinson to come out on top in this one.

Jets' Hutchinson Pulled Wednesday

News: Michael Hutchinson allowed three goals on 17 shots in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Senators.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec came in to relieve Michael Hutchinson midway through the second period Wednesday, after Hutchinson made just 14 saves. It was Pavelec's first appearance since Feb 19, so Hutchinson isn't in danger of losing his starting gig anytime soon.

Jets Stick With Hutchinson

News: Michael Hutchinson is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Senators, TSN 1290's Brian Munz reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson, who will be making his fifth straight start for the Jets, has allowed five goals over his last three starts, two of which resulted in Winnipeg victories.

Jets Roll With Hutchinson

News: Michael Hutchinson appears to be on track to start Wednesday's game against the Senators, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Assuming the assignment is confirmed, the start would be the fifth consecutive turn for Michael Hutchinson, who backstopped the Jets to a 5-2 win over the Kings on Sunday.

Hutchinson, Jets Defeat Kings

News: Michael Hutchinson turned aside 18 of 20 shots in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Kings.
Analysis: They haven't all been great outings, but the Jets have now picked up at least a point in each of Michael Hutchinson's last eight starts. The 24-year-old has seemingly won over the starting job on a more regular basis, which is good news for fantasy owners, as is his 19-7-5 record, 2.29 GAA, and .919 save percentage.

Jets Go With Hutchinson On Sunday

News: Michael Hutchinson is in line to start Sunday's game against the Kings, according to TSN's Sara Orlesky.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson, who turned away 28 of 29 shots Thursday against the Blues in a shootout loss, is thus on track to take aim Sunday at a Kings squad that has dropped two straight contests.

Jets' Hutchinson Makes 28 Saves, Falls In Shootout

News: Michael Hutchinson stopped 28 of 29 shots Thursday against the Blues, but ended up with a shootout loss.
Analysis: Tough one for Michael Hutchinson, who delivered an excellent outing against a highly talented offense. Even so, he remains without a regulation loss in his last seven outings (4-0-3).

Jets' Hutchinson Draws Thursday's Start

News: Michael Hutchinson will be in the crease for Thursday's game against the Blues, Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Coach Paul Maurice seems to have finally abandoned the timeshare in goal, as Michael Hutchinson will start for the fifth time in six games. Despite winning in four of those starts, Hutchinson has still been far from reliable in February, posting a 3.30 GAA and .880 save percentage over nine turns. Don't expect his numbers to turn around against the Blues, who rank fifth in the NHL with 3.02 goals per game.

Jets' Hutchinson Stops 26 In Win

News: Michael Hutchinson saved 26 of 28 shots Tuesday in a 4-2 victory over Dallas.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson had allowed four goals in three consecutive starts entering Tuesday's outing, but nonetheless has a 4-0-1 record in his last five outings. He's been good enough lately, but his fantasy owners would surely love to see him regain the form that made him look like the clear-cut No. 1 man over Ondrej Pavelec earlier this season.

Jets Go With Hutchinson On Tuesday

News: Michael Hutchinson is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Stars, Paul Friesen of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson is thus in line to garner his second straight start and fourth in the last five games for the Jets. While Hutchinson has given up 12 goals over his last three starts, the Jets have managed to gain a point in each of his last five appearances.

Jets' Hutchinson In Line To Start Tuesday

News: Michael Hutchinson was first off the ice at morning skate, indicating that he will start Tuesday's game against the Stars, Paul Friesen of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson's last five starts all required overtime, and he emerged with the victory on three occasions. Tuesday's outing will mark his seventh start through Winnipeg's first 11 games of February.

Jets' Hutchinson: 29 Saves In OT Loss

News: Michael Hutchinson made 29 saves in Saturday's 4-3 OT loss to the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: There was really just one where he could be faulted -- he came off the post too early and the puck threaded the needle beside his pad. The loss was his first in four starts.

Jets' Hutchinson To Get Nod Saturday

News: Michael Hutchinson will receive the start in goal Saturday against the Maple Leafs, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson has looked increasingly shaky lately, but enters play Saturday a winner of three straight games. He allowed four goals apiece in the latter two contests, which has prevented him from permanently shaking off Ondrej Pavelec for a larger portion of the starting duties for the Jets. However, Pavelec hasn't taken advantage of the opportunity yet, and if Hutchinson can get back on track against a reeling Leafs team that has lost 23 of its last 27 games, he should gain separation in the job battle.

Jets' Hutchinson Allows Four, Wins In Shootout

News: Michael Hutchinson allowed four goals on just 22 shots, but was perfect in the shootout in Monday's 5-4 win over the Oilers.
Analysis: It's the second straight game Michael Hutchinson has allowed four in regulation but earned the shootout win, and he's now got wins in each of his last three starts. Fantasy owners will take the win, but his level of play lately hasn't done much to create more separation from Ondrej Pavelec in coach Paul Maurice's rotation.

Jets Turn To Hutchinson On Monday

News: Michael Hutchinson is in line to start Monday's game against the Oilers, according to Ed Tait of the Winnipeg Free Press.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson, who has won his last two starts, checks in with a 2.24 GAA and .923 save percentage in 27 games to date. He'll be making his second straight start for the Jets, after allowing four goals on 29 shots in Saturday's shootout win over the Red Wings.

Jets' Hutchinson Triumphs In Shootout

News: Michael Hutchinson let in four goals on 29 shot attempts Saturday against the Red Wings, but buckled down in the shootout to capture his 16th victory of the season.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson and the Jets overcame a 3-1 second-period deficit to tie the game and eventually prevail with a hard-fought win. The rookie netminder has looked much more human in the second half, going 2-3-1 with a 3.37 GAA and .880 save percentage over six starts. The dropoff in productivity has enabled Ondrej Pavelec to remain salient in coach Paul Maurice's starting goalie plans, much to the chagrin of Hutchinson's fantasy owners.
