Another Dominant Outing For Jets' Hutchinson

News: Michael Hutchinson allowed just a single goal on 22 shots in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Devils.
Analysis: There's no two ways to slice it -- Michael Hutchinson has been simply fantastic in his backup role since returning to Winnipeg from an AHL stint. In four games, he's stopped 100 of 103 shots -- a .971 save mark. Ondrej Pavelec has been great this year, but Hutchinson is making a strong case to cut into his playing time, at least a little.

Jets' Hutchinson To Start Tuesday

News: Michael Hutchinson is lined up to start Tuesday's game against the Devils, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Fellow goaltender Ondrej Pavelec saw action in the starter's net during Tuesday's morning skate, but Michael Hutchinson will get the start Tuesday night on the heels of a quality relief effort Sunday. Hutchinson will take on a Devils team that has not scored more than three goals in a game since their second game of the season Oct. 11.

Jets' Hutchinson Picks Up Loss In Relief

News: Michael Hutchinson stopped 15 of the 16 shots he faced after entering in the second period of Sunday's game against the Wild, but picked up the loss in overtime.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson was solid in relief of Ondrej Pavelec -- who surrendered three goals in the first period -- helping the Jets mount a comeback and pick up a point. Hutchinson has been terrific this season in limited playing time, as he's now allowed one or zero goals in his last four appearances. However, Pavelec has also performed well in front of him, so he likely won't get more than the occasional opportunity.

Hutchinson's 22 Saves Help Jets Past 'Canes

News: Michael Hutchinson stopped 22 of 23 shots in Thursday's 3-1 win over Carolina.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson hasn't gotten into the action too often, but when he has, he's largely been terrifically impressive. Unfortunately for Hutchinson, Ondrej Pavelec's career resurgence has made playing time for his backup hard to come by.

Jets' Tap Hutchinson For Thursday Start

News: Michael Hutchinson is set to start Thursday's game against the Hurricanes, Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson will give regular goaltender Ondrej Pavelec a night off and take on Cam Ward and the Hurricanes. He will face off against a surging Carolina team that has won five of six since opening the season on an eight-game losing streak.

Jets' Hutchinson Likely to See Increased Ice Time

News: Michael Hutchinson, who pitched a shutout against the high-powered Blackhawks offense in his fifth-ever NHL start on Sunday, could get more starts in the net as a result moving forward, Ed Tait of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: After a wobbly preseason and pedestrian performance in his first start of the regular season, Michael Hutchinson looked like a confident goaltender in net against Chicago, and the Jets' coaching staff appears to have taken notice. After the game, Maurice said, "We have full belief that [Hutchinson is] going to play well and play well for us for a long time." Perhaps even more noteworthy, Maurice said that Sunday's performance "will shorten the frequency" before the goalie's next start, suggesting he might have the opportunity to nibble into the workload of top netminder Ondrej Pavelec a little more.

Jets' Hutchinson Blanks Blackhawks

News: Michael Hutchinson made 33 saves and earned his first career shutout in Sunday's win over Chicago.
Analysis: It was only the second start of the season for Michael Hutchinson, who had been pulled in his one other start. Ondrej Pavelec is the starting goalie in Winnipeg, but Hutchinson could see a fair amount of starts as his backup, especially after his dominant performance Sunday against one of the league's best teams.

Jets Go With Hutchinson On Sunday

News: Michael Hutchinson will be in the net Sunday against the Blackhawks, Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson will be making just his third appearance and second start of the season, after a rough preseason and Ondrej Pavelec's early success made coach Paul Maurice reluctant to turn to the backup. He'll face a stiff test in the Blackhawks, but if Hutchinson can somehow deliver a solid outing and come away with the victory, the coaching staff could put a little more trust in him.

Jets' Hutchinson Perfect In Relief Of Pavelec

News: Michael Hutchinson stopped all nine shots he faced in relief of Ondrej Pavelec in Friday's loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson started the third period Friday, as Pavelec was pulled at the end of the second period after giving up four goals on 18 shots. Considering Pavelec has a brutal .899 save percentage on the season, Hutchinson could very well see some starts in the near-future. Hutchinson, who is 24 years of age, was pulled in his only other NHL appearance this season.

Jets' Hutchinson Pulled In Loss

News: Michael Hutchinson allowed three goals on 13 shots, and was pulled early in the second period of the Jets' 4-1 loss to the Kings Sunday.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson was shaky in his fourth ever NHL appearance, allowing two goals in the first period and then letting in a soft goal in the second before being pulled. He had a poor preseason which led to the Jets' recent acquisition of Peter Budaj, so he may not have much room for error going forward.

Jets' Hutchinson Retains Backup Job

News: Michael Hutchinson will enter the season as the backup to Ondrej Pavelec in goal, Paul Friesen of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson looked to be on shaky ground after his awful preseason prompted the Jets to make a trade for Peter Budaj over the weekend, but Budaj's subsequent placement on waivers seems to have put an end to the threat. Budaj will still remain in the organization at AHL St. John's, however, so Hutchinson will certainly need play respectably in the opportunities he receives to earn his stay in Winnipeg.

Jets' Hutchinson Struggles Monday

News: Michael Hutchinson was beaten for three goals on just 14 shots over 29 minutes of action in Monday's preseason loss to the Oilers.
Analysis: Monday's outing wasn't particularly impressive for Michael Hutchinson, but the Jets will more than likely right it off as an aberration, after the goalie had turned in a solid effort his previous time out. Hutchinson probably won't push Ondrej Pavelec for the Opening Night start, but given the latter's immense struggles since inking a five-year, $19.5 million contract, it wouldn't be overly surprising if Hutchinson emerged as the team's preferred option in the next by the time the season concludes.

Jets Sign Hutchinson

News: Michael Hutchinson has signed a two-year deal worth $1.15 million with the Jets, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: With Al Montoya having signed with the Panthers, Michael Hutchinson will have an opportunity to compete for the team's backup goaltending job behind Ondrej Pavelec.

Jets' Hutchinson Returned To AHL

News: Michael Hutchinson was assigned to AHL St. John's on Saturday, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: With the season completed, the Jets returned Michael Hutchinson, defensemen Zach Redmond and Ben Chiarot, and forwards Eric O'Dell, Patrice Cormier, and Carl Klingberg to the St John's Ice Caps. Hutchinson had a strong cameo with the Jets to end the season, winning two out of three games and allowing just five goals on 88 shots (.943 save percentage). Ondrej Pavelec is still the Jets' likely top goaltender for next season, but Hutchinson made a compelling case to be the No. 2.

Jets' Hutchinson Outduels Flames

News: Michael Hutchinson stopped 35 of 38 shots in Friday's 5-3 win over the Flames.
Analysis: The Jets may not have had anything to play for in their season finale, but Michael Hutchinson has played very much like a man with something to prove while starting the final three games. He won two of those three starts and posted save percentages above .920 on each occasion.

Jets Will Start Hutchinson On Friday

News: Michael Hutchinson will get the start in goal Friday against the Flames, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: After a dominant performance against the league-best Bruins on Thursday, Michael Hutchinson will earn his third straight start in the Jets' season finale. Though he's been impressive in his first taste of NHL action, Ondrej Pavelec will still probably be the team's No. 1 starter during the 2014-15 campaign.

Jets' Hutchinson Beats Bruins In Shootout

News: Michael Hutchinson stopped 32 of 33 through 65 minutes, then came away with a win in the shootout Thursday against Boston.
Analysis: He's already been all but confirmed as the starter Friday against miserable Calgary, and after one-goal performances in each of his first two NHL starts, fantasy owners can feel some degree of comfort rolling Hutch out there for the Jets' season finale.

Jets' Hutchinson Likely Starting Friday

News: Michael Hutchinson will likely make a third consecutive start Friday against the Flames, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Why not? Michael Hutchinson performed admirably in the first two starts of his career, losing 1-0 to the Wild on Monday, then beating the Bruins 2-1 in a shootout on Thursday. Having allowed just two goals on 50 shots, he'll likely mind the net again come Friday's regular-season finale.

Jets Stick With Hutchinson On Thursday

News: Michael Hutchinson will be in the net Thursday against the Bruins, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson was solid in his first NHL start, stopping 16 of 17 shots in a loss to the Wild. The performance was good enough for coach Paul Maurice to give him another turn. While his future looks bright, Hutchinson may be a bit overmatched against the Bruins, who have been scoring at will against opponents since the Olympic break.

Jets' Hutchinson To See More Action This Season

News: Michael Hutchinson will start at least one and possibly both of the Jets' remaining regular-season games, reports Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun.
Analysis: Head coach Paul Maurice liked what he saw from the rookie tender against Minnesota on Monday. With the Jets out of playoff contention, don't be surprised if Ondrej Pavelec doesn't play again this year.

Jets' Hutchinson Lets In One In Loss

News: Michael Hutchinson made 16 saves on 17 shots in a loss to the Wild on Monday.
Analysis: This was Michael Hutchinson's NHL debut, and he got a rough deal in getting this loss dealt to him. It remains to be seen how many more times, if any, he starts this season.

Jets' Hutchinson To Make NHL Debut Monday

News: Michael Hutchinson will start his first career NHL game on Monday against the Minnesota Wild, according to TSN's Darrin Bauming.
Analysis: With the Jets mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, it's no surprise coach Paul Maurice is evaluating younger players at this point and giving Michael Hutchinson a look. Fantasy owners of Ondrej Pavelec should take note.

Jets Recall Hutchinson On Sunday

News: Michael Hutchinson was called up from AHL St. John's on Sunday, Scott Brown of True North Sports reports.
Analysis: With the season coming to a close soon, the Jets want to give Michael Hutchinson a longer look to determine what they're long-term plans are in the crease. With Al Montoya and Ondrej Pavelec already on the roster, the team may have to make some tough decisions soon.

Jets Recall Hutchinson

News: The Jets recalled Michael Hutchinson from AHL St. John's on Saturday.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson posted a 2.33 GAA and .923 save percentage in 22 games with St. John's this season. He will provide some goaltender depth for the Jets with Ondrej Pavelec listed as day-to-day with a lower body injury.

Jets Sign Hutchinson

News: Michael Hutchinson signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Jets on Friday, the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson has bounced around in the AHL the past few seasons. Last year, with AHL Providence, he went 13-13-3 with a 2.30 GAA and a .914 save percentage. He will provide goalie depth in the minor leagues for the Jets.
