Jets' Hutchinson Draws Thursday's Start

News: Michael Hutchinson will be in the crease for Thursday's game against the Blues, Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: Coach Paul Maurice seems to have finally abandoned the timeshare in goal, as Michael Hutchinson will start for the fifth time in six games. Despite winning in four of those starts, Hutchinson has still been far from reliable in February, posting a 3.30 GAA and .880 save percentage over nine turns. Don't expect his numbers to turn around against the Blues, who rank fifth in the NHL with 3.02 goals per game.

Jets' Hutchinson Stops 26 In Win

News: Michael Hutchinson saved 26 of 28 shots Tuesday in a 4-2 victory over Dallas.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson had allowed four goals in three consecutive starts entering Tuesday's outing, but nonetheless has a 4-0-1 record in his last five outings. He's been good enough lately, but his fantasy owners would surely love to see him regain the form that made him look like the clear-cut No. 1 man over Ondrej Pavelec earlier this season.

Jets Go With Hutchinson On Tuesday

News: Michael Hutchinson is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Stars, Paul Friesen of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson is thus in line to garner his second straight start and fourth in the last five games for the Jets. While Hutchinson has given up 12 goals over his last three starts, the Jets have managed to gain a point in each of his last five appearances.

Jets' Hutchinson In Line To Start Tuesday

News: Michael Hutchinson was first off the ice at morning skate, indicating that he will start Tuesday's game against the Stars, Paul Friesen of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson's last five starts all required overtime, and he emerged with the victory on three occasions. Tuesday's outing will mark his seventh start through Winnipeg's first 11 games of February.

Jets' Hutchinson: 29 Saves In OT Loss

News: Michael Hutchinson made 29 saves in Saturday's 4-3 OT loss to the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: There was really just one where he could be faulted -- he came off the post too early and the puck threaded the needle beside his pad. The loss was his first in four starts.

Jets' Hutchinson To Get Nod Saturday

News: Michael Hutchinson will receive the start in goal Saturday against the Maple Leafs, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson has looked increasingly shaky lately, but enters play Saturday a winner of three straight games. He allowed four goals apiece in the latter two contests, which has prevented him from permanently shaking off Ondrej Pavelec for a larger portion of the starting duties for the Jets. However, Pavelec hasn't taken advantage of the opportunity yet, and if Hutchinson can get back on track against a reeling Leafs team that has lost 23 of its last 27 games, he should gain separation in the job battle.

Jets' Hutchinson Allows Four, Wins In Shootout

News: Michael Hutchinson allowed four goals on just 22 shots, but was perfect in the shootout in Monday's 5-4 win over the Oilers.
Analysis: It's the second straight game Michael Hutchinson has allowed four in regulation but earned the shootout win, and he's now got wins in each of his last three starts. Fantasy owners will take the win, but his level of play lately hasn't done much to create more separation from Ondrej Pavelec in coach Paul Maurice's rotation.

Jets Turn To Hutchinson On Monday

News: Michael Hutchinson is in line to start Monday's game against the Oilers, according to Ed Tait of the Winnipeg Free Press.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson, who has won his last two starts, checks in with a 2.24 GAA and .923 save percentage in 27 games to date. He'll be making his second straight start for the Jets, after allowing four goals on 29 shots in Saturday's shootout win over the Red Wings.

Jets' Hutchinson Triumphs In Shootout

News: Michael Hutchinson let in four goals on 29 shot attempts Saturday against the Red Wings, but buckled down in the shootout to capture his 16th victory of the season.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson and the Jets overcame a 3-1 second-period deficit to tie the game and eventually prevail with a hard-fought win. The rookie netminder has looked much more human in the second half, going 2-3-1 with a 3.37 GAA and .880 save percentage over six starts. The dropoff in productivity has enabled Ondrej Pavelec to remain salient in coach Paul Maurice's starting goalie plans, much to the chagrin of Hutchinson's fantasy owners.

Jets' Hutchinson Receives Starting Nod Saturday

News: Michael Hutchinson was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate and will get the start in net Saturday against the Red Wings, Paul Friesen of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: It appears as though Michael Hutchinson and Ondrej Pavelec will continue to alternate starts for the foreseeable future. However, Hutchinson has continued to outperform Pavelec in wins, save percentage, and GAA in the month of February. As such, it would not be a surprise if he were to get a larger share of the starts in goal moving forward. Hutchinson is 15-7-3 with a 2.18 GAA and .925 save percentage on the season.

Jets' Hutchinson Starting Tuesday

News: Michael Hutchinson will start Tuesday's game against Minnesota, Paul Edmonds of TSN 1290 reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson and Ondrej Pavelec have alternated starts in February, with the upstart Jets struggling to pick up victories, regardless of who's between the pipes. Pavelec finally got the team back in the win column Sunday, despite allowing three goals on 28 shots in a 5-3 win over the last-place Avalanche.

Jets' Hutchinson Delivers 29 Stops In OT Win

News: Michael Hutchinson saved 29 of 30 shots Tuesday in a 2-1 overtime victory against Minnesota.
Analysis: After Ondrej Pavelec seized the reins for three of the last four starts, Michael Hutchinson got back between the pipes and ended his personal four-game losing streak. His body of work has been markedly better than Pavelec's, so the larger share of the starts should still belong to the Ontarian netminder.

Tough Loss For Jets' Hutchinson Friday

News: Michael Hutchinson gave up two goals on 22 shots, one of which was the overtime game-winner to Brandon Saad in a 2-1 loss to Chicago on Friday.
Analysis: This was a tough loss for Michael Hutchinson and the Jets, who -- despite receiving the charity point and having beaten Chicago three times at United Center this year -- now sit four points behind them in the Central Division with two more games played. It was nice to see Hutch give up only two goals after allowing 13 over his last three starts, but the fact remains that he's now dropped four straight at a time when the Jets need solid goaltending the most. Owners should keep a close eye on the situation, as coach Paul Maurice is likely to give Ondrej Pavalec a shot to turn the Jets' six-game winning streak around, especially since he's often alternated starts between the goalies this season.

Jets' Hutchinson Receives Starting Nod Friday

News: Michael Hutchinson was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate and will receive the start in goal Friday against the Blackhawks, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: The Blackhawks represent a daunting adversary for just about any goalie, but Michael Hutchinson has made mincemeat out of the boys from the North Side. In three career starts against the Blackhawks, he's gone 3-0-0 with an astounding .971 save percentage, conceding only three goals.

Jets' Hutchinson Pulled In Loss

News: Michael Hutchinson allowed four goals on 23 shots before being replaced in the third period of Monday's 5-2 loss to the Flames.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson has been unable to take advantage of getting the nod for three straight starts, surrendering at least four goals and picking up the loss in all three. His GAA of 2.25 and save percentage of .924 are impressive, but head coach Paul Maurice will probably go back to Ondrej Pavelec next outing after three uninspiring performances from the 24-year-old netminder.

Jets Go With Hutchinson To Start On Monday

News: Michael Hutchinson will be between the pipes Monday against the Flames, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson will receive his third straight start despite a pair of shaky performances in his last two, both losses, in which he surrendered nine goals on 63 shots combined. It's a bit surprising to see Hutchinson get the start on Monday given the rotation the Jets had been going with before their current three game losing streak, but he'll get another shot to separate himself against Calgary.

Jets' Hutchinson Allows Five In Loss

News: Michael Hutchinson was torched for five goals on 32 shots in Saturday's loss to the Stars.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson has struggled these past two games, allowing nine goals against. While he may be in a bit of a funk, it's worth noting four of the goals scored by Dallas Saturday came on the power play. Hutchinson's .927 save percentage and 2.15 are among the league's best, but with his recent lackluster play, the Jets are likely to rotate back to Ondrej Pavelec in the team's next outing.

Jets Stick With Hutchinson On Saturday

News: Michael Hutchinson will be in the crease Saturday against the Stars, Brian Munz of TSN 1290 reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson's fantasy owners have been pleading coach Paul Maurice to ditch the goalie rotation for quite some time, and it appears he'll finally comply for at least one game. It's a bit surprising that Maurice has decided now to give Hutchinson a second straight turn, as his last start Thursday against the Flyers was a four-goal dud. However, Hutchinson did well to build up plenty of goodwill before that with a four-game winning streak, while Ondrej Pavelec has only continued to languish when he's been called upon. If Hutchinson can get back on track Saturday against an elite Stars offense, it's hard to imagine Maurice returning to the rotation.

Rare Dud For Jets' Hutchinson

News: Michael Hutchinson saw his four-game winning streak snapped Thursday, as he allowed four goals on 31 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Flyers.
Analysis: The final goal came into an empty net. Ondrej Pavelec drew the Jets' first start out of the break and had a similarly poor game, so don't expect this to lower Hutch's standing, especially considering he still holds a narrow league lead over Carey Price and Pekka Rinne in save percentage.

Jets' Hutchinson Set For Thursday Start

News: Michael Hutchinson is on track to start Thursday's game against the Flyers, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson was the first goalie off the ice following the Jets' morning skate, which lines him up to start Thursday night. He has not taken the ice since Jan. 21, but is currently riding a four-game winning streak. Hutchinson's biggest enemy at the moment has been coach Paul Maurice, who continues to alternate starts between his two goalies, despite Ondrej Pavelec's ongoing struggles. Eventually, Hutchinson's superior numbers (14-4-2, 1.90 GAA, .935 save percentage) should result in him gaining some separation from Pavelec.

Jets' Hutchinson Shuts Out Jackets

News: Michael Hutchinson recorded a 29 save shutout against the Blue Jackets on Wednesday.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson improved his already sparkling record to 14-4-2, and has been a huge part of the Jets surprising season. He now has a GAA of 1.90 and a save percentage of .935, which rank third and second in the league respectively.

Jets Turn To Hutchinson On Wednesday

News: Michael Hutchinson will make the start in goal Wednesday against the Blue Jackets, 680 AM CJOB Sports reports.
Analysis: Michael Hutchinson has stymied the Blackhawks and Panthers his last two times out, limiting both adversaries to just two goals. The second-year goalie hasn't shown any sign of slowing down this season, as he continues to uphold a 13-4-2 record, 2.00 GAA, and .932 save percentage for the season. He looks like the most dependable goalie option among Wednesday's six-game NHL slate.

Jets' Hutchinson Masterful In Chicago

News: Hutchison turned in an impressive win Friday, stopping 31 of 33 shots in a 4-2 win over the Blackhawks at United Center.
Analysis: Yes folks, Michael Hutchinson and the Jets are for real. With a 13-4-2 record, 2.00 GAA and .932 save percentage this season, the sophomore has outplayed Ondrej Pavelec (11-10-6, 2.46 GAA, .913 save percentage) while mostly rotating starts since the end of November. It's no secret that coach Paul Maurice likes to split starts between the two, which has kept Hutchinson from being thrust into the upper echelon of fantasy goaltending this season. However, with the Jets playing well and sitting safely in a playoff spot with a seven-point cushion, feel free to deploy Hutchinson almost every time he's between the pipes.

Jets Turn To Hutchinson On Friday

Jets' Hutchinson Packs Away Another Win

News: Michael Hutchinson limited the Panthers to two goals on 27 shots and got eight goals of support from his mates to cruise to an easy win Tuesday.
Analysis: A fine effort from Michael Hutchinson, who'd rather uncharacteristically given up seven goals over his prior two starts. Nonetehless, he's now sitting on a 6-2 record over his last eight outings, giving the Jets no reason to gamble with Ondrej Pavelec very often.
