Kings' Muzzin Garners Assist Trick

News: Jake Muzzin collected a trio of assists -- one on the power play -- Thursday in a 5-3 win over the Senators, snapping a four-game scoreless skid.
Analysis: The box score shows what has to be an erroneous minus-2 rating for Jake Muzzin, as two of his helpers came at even strength, which would mean that he would have had to be on the ice for four Ottawa goals. That's tough to do when the opposing team only scores three times, so presumably a stat correction will come down the line at some point. Nonetheless, Muzzin continues to be a well-rounded fantasy asset, especially for deeper formats, contributing points at a steady pace with some power-play production, as well as plentiful hits and blocked shots.

Two More Helpers For Kings' Muzzin

News: Jake Muzzin dished out two assists and fired off three shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over the Ducks.
Analysis: Jake Muzzin was credited with secondary helpers on the Kings' final two goals of the game, allowing his team to exact revenge after the Ducks nipped them just days earlier in the Freeway Faceoff rivalry. The blueliner has been magnificent of late, after his delayed start to the season due to an upper-body injury resulted in him failing to provide a point over his first seven games. In his five contests since, Muzzin has potted a goal and assisted on six others.

Kings' Muzzin Grabs Pair Of Assists

News: Jake Muzzin added two more helpers in Wedneday's 6-5 shootout loss to the Ducks.
Analysis: Whew -- the 25-year-old has now ripped off five points in his last three games, firing nine shots on goal in the process. See if he's available on your wire before it's too late -- he plays on a very potent Kings squad and is seeing significant minutes at both even strength and on the power play.

Muzzin Scores First In Kings' Rout

News: Jake Muzzin netted his first goal of the season and added an assist in a 5-1 win for the Kings on Saturday.
Analysis: Jake Muzzin's season got off to a late start due to an injury but he's now seeing heavy minutes for the Kings. He's recorded multiple shots on goal in seven of his nine games and it's just a matter of time before that starts to translate into production.

Season's First Point For Kings' Muzzin

News: Jake Muzzin picked up an assist for his first point of the year Thursday against the Isles.
Analysis: It took him eight games to find the scoresheet, but Jake Muzzin is a quiet breakout candidate after he fired 175 shots on goal over 76 games last year. He's seeing serious, career-high minutes for the Kings, and he's got the skills to turn those minutes into points.

Kings' Muzzin Returns To Lineup

News: Jake Muzzin (upper body) logged over 20 minutes of ice time in his return to the lineup Thursday.
Analysis: Jake Muzzin didn't factor into the scoring in a 2-0 win over the Sabres but was able to log some pretty heavy minutes in his first game back. He could see some extra time on the team's second power play until Slava Voynov's situation is resolved.

Kings' Muzzin To Play Thursday

News: Jake Muzzin (upper body) has been cleared to play Thursday against the Sabres, Elliott Teaford of the Los Angeles News reports.
Analysis: Jake Muzzin said he's not quite 100 percent healthy, but the Kings' medical staff determined his condition was good enough to take full contact in game action. The blueliner missed the team's first six games with the upper-body injury, which he sustained late in the preseason.

Kings' Muzzin Expected To Return Thursday

News: Jake Muzzin (upper body) will visit a doctor Tuesday and is expected to receive clearance to play Thursday against the Sabres, Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: Jake Muzzin has been sidelined for the Kings' first six games with the upper-body injury, with the team giving no clear timetable for the blueliner's return until now. The Kings have resisted putting Muzzin on injured reserve while he dealt with the ailment, so no roster move will be required to bring him back in the fold. He's expected to rejoin the team's top pairing with Drew Doughty.

Kings' Muzzin To Receive X-Ray Thursday

News: Coach Darryl Sutter said Jake Muzzin (upper body) would receive an X-ray Thursday, Jon Rosen of LAKingsInsider.com reports.
Analysis: The date would mark a full three weeks after he sustained the upper-body injury during preseason action against the Avalanche. Jake Muzzin, who inked a five-year, $20 million extension with the Kings on Wednesday, has resumed practicing with the team, but has yet to receive clearance for a return to games. Thursday's examination should offer a better indication of when he might see Muzzin back on the ice.

Kings, Muzzin Agree To Five-Year Extension

News: Jake Muzzin (upper body) signed a five-year, $20 million extension with the Kings on Wednesday, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports.
Analysis: Jake Muzzin hasn't appeared in a game this season due to an upper-body injury, but it's clear the Kings view him as a cornerstone player for both now and the future. The 25-year-old struggled in the early stages of last season, but he came up huge for the team in their run to the Stanley Cup, finishing second to only Drew Doughty in ice time during the playoffs. Once healthy, Muzzin is slated to rejoin Doughty on the top pairing, and should represent a capable producer at both ends of the ice.

Kings' Muzzin Likely Out Until Later This Week

News: Jake Muzzin (upper body) participated in an optional skate Monday, but isn't likely to return until "maybe later this week," the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: The Kings have been able to get an extended look at Brayden McNabb in Jake Muzzin's absence, and it sounds like that'll continue, as Muzzin is set to miss at least a couple more days.

Kings' Muzzin Closing In On Return

News: Jake Muzzin (undisclosed) appears to be nearing a return, but continues to await clearance to play from team doctors, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Jake Muzzin took part in some skating prior to Sunday's game against the Jets and seems to believe he's well-conditioned, but just needs clarification from the doctors that everything is sound on the health front. Brayden McNabb has taken his place on the defensive pairing with Drew Doughty for the past three games.

Kings' Muzzin To Miss More Action

News: Jake Muzzin said he expects to miss a few more games as a result of his undisclosed injury, Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: Jake Muzzin's presence on the ice probably wouldn't have made much of a difference in the Sharks' dominant 4-0 victory over the Kings on Wednesday, but it's still not ideal for the team to be without a top-four defenseman for multiple games. Brayden McNabb filled in for Muzzin on Wednesday and will likely continue to do so for as long as he remains out.

Kings' Muzzin Questionable For Opener

News: Jake Muzzin (undisclosed) is questionable for Wednesday's season opener against the Sharks, Jon Rosen of LAKingsInsider.com reports.
Analysis: The Kings will reevaluate Jake Muzzin closer to game time, but if he's unable to go, Brayden McNabb would be called upon to join Drew Doughty on the team's top pair. Muzzin tallied five goals and 19 assists over 76 games last season.

Kings' Muzzin Out For Opener

News: Jake Muzzin (undisclosed) did not suit up for Wednesday's season opener, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Jake Muzzin's injury prevented him from playing in the Kings' first game of the new campaign. Brayden McNabb suited up in Muzzin's place.

Muzzin Paces Kings' Power Play In Game 4 Win

News: Jake Muzzin picked up a power play goal and an assist in a 5-2 win over the Blackhawks in Monday's Game 4.
Analysis: Jake Muzzin has points in three straight games, doing most of his damage on the power play. He's really stepped up his game lately with the injury to Robyn Regehr.

Kings' Muzzin Leads Off Game 6 With Goal

News: Jake Muzzin's third goal of the playoffs put the Kings on the board first Wednesday, sparking them to a 2-1 Game 6 victory over the Ducks.
Analysis: For the second straight contest, Jake Muzzin exceeded 25 minutes of ice time and provided a point. He averaged just over 19 minutes of action per game during the regular season, but the absence of Robyn Regehr and Willie Mitchell due to undisclosed injuries have forced Muzzin to take on a greater load on the blue line.

Muzzin Nets Second Goal In Kings' Loss

News: Jake Muzzin picked up his second goal of the playoffs in a 7-2 loss to San Jose on Sunday.
Analysis: Jake Muzzin struggled offensively for much of the season, but has been one of the few bright spots in the Kings' opening-round series.

Kings' Muzzin Grabs Two Helpers

News: Jake Muzzin picked up a pair of assists and went plus-1 in Tuesday's shootout win over Washington.
Analysis: That snaps a five-game pointless streak for Jake Muzzin, who hadn't recorded a multi-point outing since way back on Dec. 14. He's not a high scorer on the blue line, but at age 25, he could still develop into a 35-point D-man in the longer term.

Kings' Muzzin Picks Up Goal Monday

News: Jake Muzzin registered his fifth goal of the season in Monday's win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: Jake Muzzin has come out of the Olympic break with a goal and an assist over four games, while chipping in five hits and eight blocks defensively. The production isn't anything to get overly excited about, but with the Kings starting to find their way offensively after slumping into the break, Muzzin could at least start providing points with more consistency than he previously was.

Kings' Muzzin Playing Well

News: Jake Muzzin has four goals and 13 assists through 54 games at the Olympic break.
Analysis: The young blueliner has steadily improved every season, and has been a fixture on the Kings' back end each of the past two seasons. He's more of a stay-at-home player than some other guys, but his 48 PIM give him some extra value in fantasy leagues.

Muzzin Snaps Skid In Kings' Win

News: Jake Muzzin collected his first point in 15 games with a goal Thursday in a win over St. Louis.
Analysis: Jake Muzzin's season got off to a nice start, but his production had dried up until he got the monkey off his back Thursday. He now has three goals and a dozen assists for the year.

Kings' Muzzin In Prolonged Scoring Drought

News: Jake Muzzin hasn't supplied a point since Dec. 14, a span of 14 games.
Analysis: The Kings' excellent supporting cast has prevented Jake Muzzin's plus-minus from taking a major hit during that time, but the drought has taken much luster off what looked to be a promising season for the 24-year-old. Although some regression from last season's 9.1 shooting percentage was expected, an unfortunate 2.1 percent mark has limited him to just two goals over 42 games. Things should start to pick up eventually for the defenseman, but his minutes are already starting to tail off as coach Darryl Sutter grows impatient with Muzzin's lack of productivity.

Kings' Muzzin Dishes Out Two Assists In Win

News: Jake Muzzin assisted on two goals in Saturday's win over the Senators.
Analysis: Jake Muzzin finally seems to be breaking out of a prolonged scoreless spell that saw him score one point over a span of 10 games in November and December. He helped his cause further Saturday with a plus-3 rating in the game, his best mark of the season.

Muzzin On Kings' Scoresheet Again

News: Jake Muzzin assisted on the Kings' winning goal Friday in their 2-0 win over New Jersey; Muzzin has three assists in the last five games.
Analysis: Jake Muzzin sits with 10 points on the season and has been active the last two weeks and should continue to complement the Kings' attack. He is standing out among players like Slava Voynov and Drew Doughty and could be a boost to teams in deeper leagues.
