Blues' Reaves Scores, Collects 12 PIM In Loss

News: Ryan Reaves scored his sixth goal of the season and picked up 12 PIM in Sunday's loss to Vancouver.
Analysis: Ryan Reaves now has 10 points and a whopping 100 PIM in 62 games this season. While the 28-year-old old doesn't produce much offense in a fourth-line role, his strong PIM totals make him worth owning in very deep specialty leagues.

Blues' Reaves Picks Up Assist; Sets Career High

News: Ryan Reaves picked up an assist Thursday in a 2-1 shootout win over Winnipeg. He was plus-1 and added four hits on the night.
Analysis: Ryan Reaves set a new career high in points with nine. Reaves' penalty minutes are down this year, while his shots, hits, and blocks are all up - maybe he is evolving into a different kind of player who can add more fantasy value.

Blues' Reaves Scores In Win

News: Ryan Reaves scored his fifth goal of the season Friday in a shootout win over Carolina. He was plus-1, took five shots, and laid six hits in the contest.
Analysis: The goal sets a new career high for the rugged winger, and his next point will set a career mark in that category too. Ryan Reaves will obviously never be an offensive force, but in leagues where you took him for his toughness, the boost in production is gravy.

PIM Piling Up For Blues' Reaves

News: Ryan Reaves dished out two hits and logged 14 PIM in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Sharks.
Analysis: All of Ryan Reaves' three penalties came in the final minute of the game when the outcome was already well-decided, but it counts all the same for fantasy owners. As expected, Reaves has been a buoy in the PIM category this season, and especially so of late. He's spent time in the box in four consecutive games.

Blues' Reaves Wastes No Time In Mixing It Up

News: Ryan Reaves (ankle) registered four hits and received a 10-minute misconduct penalty in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Predators.
Analysis: In other words, it was business as usual for Ryan Reaves in his return from a one-game absence. He'll continue to pile up the hits and penalty minutes with consistency, but don't expect him to finish the season with more than 10 points.

Blues' Reaves Back In Thursday

News: Coach Ken Hitchcock confirmed Ryan Reaves (ankle) would play Thursday against the Predators, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: It was believed the Blues were going to wait until pregame warmups before making a decision on Ryan Reaves' availability, but the fourth-liner fared well enough in the morning skate for the coach to feel comfortable declaring him good to go. Reaves missed just one game due to the ankle issue.

Blues' Reaves Hopes To Play Thursday

News: Ryan Reaves (ankle) hopes to play Thursday against the Predators, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Ryan Reaves made it through Thursday's morning skate without issue, and a decision on his status for Thursday's game will be made based on how he feels when game time rolls around.

Analysis: Consider him questionable for Thursday's game against the Predators.

Blues Rule Reaves Out Tuesday

News: Ryan Reaves (ankle) will not play Tuesday against the Sabres, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Reaves wasn't able to participate in Tuesday's optional morning skate after taking a puck off his ankle during Monday's practice, likely influencing coach Ken Hitchcock's decision to hold him out. The fourth-liner is still considered day-to-day and could be ready to go in time for Thursday's game versus the Predators.

Blues' Reaves Questionable For Tuesday

News: Ryan Reaves (ankle) wasn't on the ice for Tuesday's optional morning skate and is questionable to play against the Sabres, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Ryan Reaves took a puck to his ankle during Monday's practice, resulting in his early removal from the session. The winger's official status for Tuesday's game likely won't be known until pregame warmups, but Magnus Paajarvi or Dmitrij Jaskin would be called upon to take Reaves' spot in the lineup if he's deemed unfit to play.

Blues' Reaves Returns To Action Monday

News: Ryan Reaves (upper body) saw 7:11 of ice time Monday against the Rangers and spent an additional five minutes in the penalty box.
Analysis: Ryan Reaves was removed from Saturday's contest against the Rangers with the upper-body injury, but it wasn't serious enough to force him out of action. He'll continue to pester the opposition as the Blues' most willing fighter on the fourth line.

Blues' Reaves Has Upper-Body Injury

News: Ryan Reaves left Saturday's game against Colorado with an upper-body injury and will be reevaluated Sunday, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Avs center John Mitchell delivered a high hit on Ryan Reaves, and when Reaves retaliated, he was sent to the penalty box. After he served his time, he left the ice for the locker room and did not return. His status for Monday's game against the Rangers is uncertain.

Blues' Reaves Scores Thursday

News: Ryan Reaves picked up his second goal of the season Thursday against Anaheim.
Analysis: Ryan Reaves is known for his tough play, but the Blues will take the goal. The veteran's ice time is down a bit early this season, which will limit any fantasy contribution he might make even further.

Blues' Reaves Set To Play Tuesday

News: Ryan Reaves (illness) participated fully at morning skate and has been cleared to play Tuesday against the Stars, Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Both Ryan Reaves and Vladimir Tarasenko were initially considered questionable to play Tuesday, but coach Ken Hitchcock didn't detect any sluggishness from either player during morning skate and green-lighted their entry into the lineup. Reaves was viewed as the more ill of the two players, with the bug that's been passing around the Blues' locker room affecting him for about a week. Now that it appears the illness has ran its course, Reaves will be counted on to slow the Stars' up-tempo offense with his usual display of punishing hits.

Blues' Reaves Will Travel

News: Updating a prior report, Ryan Reaves (illness) will travel with the team to Dallas, and could play in Tuesday's game against the Stars, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Ryan Reaves was originally not going to make the trip, but his condition must have improved enough for the Blues to justify bringing him along. He'll still be a game time decision for Tuesday's game, so keep an eye out for another update before the puck drops.

Blues' Reaves Out For Tuesday

News: Ryan Reaves will not play Tuesday against the Stars due to an illness, Lous Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: The bruising winger scored his first goal of the season against the Blackhawks on Saturday night, but will sit out Tuesday's game after catching a flu bug that has been going around the Blues locker room.

Blues' Reaves Notches Rare Goal

News: Ryan Reaves tallied his first goal of the season in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: The feisty fourth-liner is known primarily for his willingness to drop the gloves, but he'll pot the occasional goal to support his penalty minute and hit totals. He's lagged behind with just four PIM in seven games to date, but he'll boost that total before long.

Blues's Reaves Puts Injured Hand To Test

News: Ryan Reaves had his first fighting major since returning from a hand injury that cost him the month of December.
Analysis: It took sixteen games for Blues management to take the kid gloves off so Ryan Reaves could drop his. He and the Jets' Chris Thorburn fought to a draw but many punches were thrown and Reaves' hand seemed none the worse for wear.

Blues Ink Reaves To Extension

News: Ryan Reaves agreed to a four-year, $4.5 million extension with the Blues on Friday.
Analysis: Ryan Reaves is in his fourth season as a member of the Blues and has developed into a dependable depth player on offense. He has mostly been working on the fourth line for St. Louis this season and has five points on two goals and three assists. He plays a role as an enforcer for the team with 65 penalty minutes already in only 26 games.

Blues' Reaves Returning Thursday

News: Ryan Reaves (hand) will play Thursday against the Kings, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Reaves has been out since Nov. 23 with the broken hand, but the Blues will get him back in time for Thursday's tilt. Considering Reaves averaged less than eight minutes in his first 22 games of the season, it's safe to say he won't play a major role upon his return.

Blues' Reaves Removed From IR

News: Ryan Reaves (hand) has been cleared to play and will likely be removed from injured reserve Thursday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Jeremy Rutherford reports.
Analysis: Out since late November with a broken hand, Ryan Reaves may finally be ready to return. He has four points through 22 appearances and is averaging just 7:37 of ice time per game.

Blues' Reaves Recovering

News: Ryan Reaves (hand) has resumed skating, and hopes to be cleared to shoot soon, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Reaves is scheduled to visit the doctor again after Christmas, and is hoping to be cleared to start shooting at that point. He's a long way from returning to action, but it will still be good to see him take the next step in his recovery.

Blues Reaves To Miss At Least Six Weeks

News: Ryan Reaves is expected to miss at least six weeks due to his broken hand, according to the Blues' official website.
Analysis: It was originally reported that Ryan Reaves would be out up to four weeks, but it appears his target return date has been pushed back. Head coach Ken Hitchcock expects Adam Cracknell and Magnus Paajarvi to see more action in Reaves' absence.

Blues' Reaves Breaks Hand In Fight

News: Ryan Reaves broke his right hand in a first-period fight Saturday and will be out up to four weeks, according to the Associated Press.

Reaves Nabbed For 14 PIM In Blues' Win

News: Ryan Reaves was hit with 14 penalty minutes in Saturday's 7-0 win over Florida.
Analysis: This is why they hired the man. Expect more of the same -- except not quite at this pace -- over the rest of the campaign.
