No Qualifying Offer For Regner From Jackets

News: The Blue Jackets have not made a qualifying offer to Brent Regner, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The improved depth on the blue line in Columbus left no room on the roster for Brent Regner, even at the AHL level. He'll have to catch on somewhere else.

Regner inks entry-level contract

News: The Blue Jackets signed defenseman Brent Regner to a three-year, entry-level contract Wednesday. The 20-year-old was a fifth-round choice (137th overall) in 2008.
Analysis: Regner had 15 goals, 67 points and a plus-65 rating in 70 games for Vancouver of the WHL (juniors) in 2008-09. He is merely organizational depth for Columbus heading into 2009-10 and is best left for the deepest of keeper leagues. He is not considered an elite prospect, but he is among Columbus' top 20 prospects.
