Reimer Makes 22 Saves In Rare Toronto Win

News: James Reimer made 22 saves in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Senators.
Analysis: Wins have been few and far between for Optimus Reims (or Jonathan Bernier, for that matter) -- the Leafs have won two of their last 10. And his inflated GAA and save percentage make him nothing more than a desperation roll.

Leafs Turn To Reimer For Saturday Start

News: James Reimer will be in the crease for Saturday's game against the Senators, Terry Koshan of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: After coming on to stop all 11 of the shots he faced in relief of Jonathan Bernier in Thursday's loss to the Panthers, James Reimer will be rewarded with the starting nod. Reimer has typically thrived against the Senators over his career (10-3-1, 2.33 GAA, .934 save percentage in 16 appearances), but many of those wins came when he was a member of at least semi-competitive Leafs squads. Needless to say, he doesn't find himself in nearly as favorable of a team context right now, and as such, shouldn't be trusted to deliver positive results.

Leafs' Reimer Yanked In Loss

News: James Reimer allowed three goals on 18 shots before being replaced by Jonathan Bernier early in the second period of Saturday's loss to Ottawa.
Analysis: Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. And whatever you do, do not activate a Toronto goalie. Seriously.

Leafs' Reimer Starting Saturday

News: James Reimer will start Saturday's game in Ottawa, TSN's Jonas Siegel reports.
Analysis: Jonathan Bernier missed Friday's practice for purposes of rest, and Remier has now been confirmed as the starter for Saturday. No injury has been reported, so Bernier may be back in the crease for Monday's game against Minnesota.

Leafs' Reimer Cleans Up In Relief

News: James Reimer stopped 27 of 28 shots in relief of starter Jonathan Bernier in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Oilers.
Analysis: James Reimer wasn't able to overcome the early 3-0 deficit that Bernier created, and in fact, immediately made it worse, surrendering another score less than three minutes after entering the game. However, he buckled down thereafter, and may have earned himself another start in the near future in light of his relatively strong outing. Even so, with a 3.22 GAA and .903 save percentage over 29 games this season, Bernier won't make for more than a low-end starting option the next time he enters the net.

Leafs' Reimer Horrible In Rare Start Friday

News: James Reimer was horrible Friday, letting in a whopping six goals on just 28 shots in a 6-3 loss to the Flames.
Analysis: The Leafs season has been an unmitigated disaster this season, and James Reimer has been no different. In three starts in March, he's allowed 12 goals on 86 shots (.860 save percentage) and owns a bloated 3.30 GAA on the year. It's tough not to feel bad for the guy but if there's one goalie to avoid for the rest of the season -- even in spot starts against weaker opponents -- it's Reimer.

Leafs' Reimer To Receive Start Friday

News: James Reimer will be in the crease for Friday's game against the Flames.
Analysis: With Jonathan Bernier firmly established as the Leafs' No. 1 goalie at this point in the season, James Reimer has been limited to just three appearances over the last month. Reimer has been largely awful when called upon this season, going 7-14-0 with a 3.18 GAA and .905 save percentage, and only one win since Dec. 14. He doesn't make for an appealing option in daily formats for the Friday slate.

Reimer Makes 24 Saves In Relief In Leafs' Loss

News: James Reimer relieved starter Jonathan Bernier to start the second period of Saturday's game. He allowed three goals on 27 shots.
Analysis: James Reimer will probably see just a few starts before season's end as the Leafs ride Bernier hard -- they need to figure out what they have in him before the offseason. And even if Optimus gets starts, the Leafs aren't likely to score enough -- or play defence well enough -- to make activation worthwhile.

Leafs' Reimer Allows Three In Loss

News: James Reimer surrendered three goals on 31 shots in Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Capitals.
Analysis: The free fall continues as the loss drops James Reimer to 1-11-0 in his last 12 outings. Jonathan Bernier will continue to see the majority of the action between the pipes anyway, but Reimer has made for a risky play whenever he does start with a 3.14 GAA and .906 save percentage.

Leafs' Turn To Reimer On Sunday

News: James Reimer will start in net Sunday against the Capitals, Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun reports.
Analysis: James Reimer's last outing came Feb. 20 against the Hurricanes, in which he stopped 24 of the 26 shots against the Hurricanes but took the loss. After three straight Jonathan Bernier starts, Reimer will return between the pipes to face a Capitals team coming off three straight losses.

Leafs' Reimer Gives Up Two Goals In Loss

News: James Reimer gave up two goals on 26 shots in Friday's loss to the Hurricanes.
Analysis: The losses continue to pile on for James Reimer, who has managed just one win in his last 11 games. Reimer's .906 save percentage and 3.15 GAA are disappointing and he's still yet to pitch a shutout this season. With a 7-13-0 record, Reimer isn't a good fantasy option on a Leafs' team that has now fallen to 4-22-2 in their last 28 games.

Leafs' Reimer Slated To Go Friday

News: James Reimer will be in the net for Friday's game against the Hurricanes.
Analysis: The Leafs are expected to split the starts between their two netminders for the weekend back-to-back set, with James Reimer drawing the easier matchup of the two. That being said, nothing really comes easy these days for the Maple Leafs, losers of 23 of their last 27 games. There's a decent chance Reimer can cobble together some helpful ratios Friday against a squad that ranks 27th in the league in goals per game, but just don't bank on his mates providing much offense on his behalf.

Leafs' Reimer Makes 34 Saves In Loss To Rangers

News: James Reimer made 34 saves in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: He was hung out to dry by some of his teammates, who simply failed to put in an effort to backcheck. Or even check at all. He's a tough play until the Leafs get in a winning groove, and he might not even be the starter of choice once they do. Deploy with caution.

Leafs Stick With Reimer On Tuesday

News: James Reimer is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Rangers, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: James Reimer -- who has recorded a 7-11 record with a .907 save percentage and a 3.11 GAA in 23 games with the Leafs to date -- will thus make his third straight start after helping the team snap an 11-game losing streak in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Oilers.

Leafs' Reimer: Helps Leafs Break Losing Streak

News: James Reimer came within 2.3 seconds of a shutout in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Oilers. He made 32 saves to help the Leafs break the longest losing streak (11 games) in team history.
Analysis: What a heartbreak -- he played a great game in support of scheduled, but sick, starter Jonathan Bernier. He'll be between the pipes until Bernie stops puking, but that might only be at practice. The Leafs don't suit up again until Tuesday.

Leafs' Reimer Gets Surprise Saturday Start

News: James Reimer will be in the crease for Saturday's game against the Oilers, Jack Michaels of the Oilers Radio Network reports.
Analysis: James Reimer was scheduled to sit out Saturday after he was torched for four goals on 17 shot attempts Friday against the Devils, but he'll pick up his second start in as many nights after Jonathan Bernier was ruled out with an illness. While the lottery-bound Oilers offers a favorable chance for Reimer to help the Leafs snap their 11-game losing streak, the goalie's poor outing against a Devils squad that ranks 27th in the league in scoring doesn't provide a ton of optimism for his prospects. Reimer will at least have the benefit of skating on his own home ice for this one.

Leafs' Reimer Gives Up Four Goals In Loss

News: James Reimer gave up four goals on 17 shots in Friday's loss to the Devils.
Analysis: A tough outing for James Reimer, who saw his team fall to 3-18-1 in their last 22 games. Reimer has just six wins this season with a .908 save percentage and 3.18 GAA, so it's hard to count on him in any fantasy league. Having suffered eight straight losses and currently splitting crease time with Jonathan Bernier on the league's most struggling team, you can probably find a better option in net than Reimer.

Leafs Confirm Reimer For Friday

News: James Reimer has been confirmed to start Friday against the Devils, Paul Hendrick of Leafs TV reports.
Analysis: Jonathan Bernier turned in a rough outing Tuesday against the Predators and missed time during the game due to a cut on his leg, so the Leafs will turn to James Reimer on Friday as a measure to afford Bernier some added rest. Bernier will be healthy enough to back up Reimer and is expected to reclaim the net Saturday, when the Leafs will take on the Oilers. For those playing in daily formats, Reimer would seem to be a decent play Friday, despite his own team being mired in a 10-game losing streak. The Devils rank 28th in the NHL in scoring (2.20 goals per game) and 29th in shot attempts (24.3 per game).

Leafs' Reimer Likely Starting Friday

News: James Reimer will likely start Friday's game in New Jersey, TSN's Jonas Siegel reports.
Analysis: With the Maple Leafs also playing a game Saturday against Edmonton, James Reimer figures to get a start within the next two days. Jonathan Bernier is still getting most of the work, but Reimer sees more action than the average backup.

Leafs' Reimer: Five Minutes Of Relief Mid-Game

News: James Reimer entered Tuesday's game with 1:08 left in the second period after starter Jonathan Bernier was cut by his own skate. He played 4:17 in the third before Bernier returned.
Analysis: He did his job. The Leafs were down 2-1 when he entered and he left with the Leafs up 3-2.

Leafs' Reimer Beaten Once In Loss

News: James Reimer gave up just one goal on 18 shots in Saturday's loss to the Flyers.
Analysis: It wasn't a bad outing from James Reimer, but the team couldn't score any goals, so it resulted in the 26-year-old's seventh straight loss. Considering the Leafs went 1-11-1 in the month of January, don't expect Reimer to be of much value when he gets the nod. His .907 save percentage and 3.19 GAA are concerning, so if there are other options out there, it wouldn't hurt to seek them out. The Leafs are falling fast, and Reimer and Jonathan Bernier aren't doing much to help.

Leafs Turn To Reimer For Saturday Start

News: James Reimer will be between the pipes for Saturday's match against the Flyers, Jonas Siegel of TSN Radio 1050 reports.
Analysis: Though regular starting goalie Jonathan Bernier's final numbers weren't terrible in the Leafs' last game against the Coyotes, he allowed a couple of inexcusable goals in the outing. As a result, Toronto will turn to James Reimer in an attempt to bust their ongoing losing skid, which sits at eight games. With a 3.32 GAA and .906 save percentage over 19 appearances, Reimer has been quite unreliable as a streaming option, and his career numbers in six outings against the Flyers (2-3-0, 3.11 GAA, .904 save percentage) don't inspire much confidence, either.

Leafs' Reimer: 22 Saves In Loss

News: James Reimer finished with 22 saves in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Ottawa.
Analysis: He allowed three first-period goals, but then closed the door until late in the third. The Leafs' goalies are in tough with the team in the state its currently in. We have a hard time recommended either in this situation.

Leafs' Reimer To Start Wednesday

News: James Reimer will be in the net for Wednesday's outing against the Senators, Sportsnet 590 The FAN reports.
Analysis: James Reimer's entry into the lineup ahead of No. 1 goalie Jonathan Bernier doesn't come as a huge surprise given his outstanding success throughout his career against the Senators. He owns a 10-2-1 mark, 2.05 GAA and .942 save percentage across 14 appearances versus Ottawa, numbers that far outpace what he's typically posted during his five seasons with the Leafs.

Leafs' Reimer Solid In Relief

News: James Reimer turned away all 18 shots he faced after entering in the opening minute of the second period in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Starter Jonathan Bernier was lit up, but James Reimer used the relief appearance to turn in his second impressive performance in a row. That said, he still won't get many starts, and with a 3.27 GAA he's not a particularly reliable option between the pipes.
