Ducks Trade Sbisa To Canucks

News: The Ducks have traded Luca Sbisa, Nick Bonino, and the 24th pick in Friday's draft to the Canucks in exchange for Ryan Kesler, ESPN's Pierre LeBrun reports.
Analysis: Injuries plagued Luca Sbisa's 2013-14 campaign and limited him to 30 games -- his lowest total since the 2009-10 season. However, he is a former first-rounder and is just 24 years old, so he still has some upside. He will have a good shot at earning a top-six defenseman role with his new squad.

Ducks' Sbisa Returns From Injury

News: Luca Sbisa (upper body) returned to the ice Sunday against the Avalanche. He saw 17:21 of ice time following his two-game stint in the press box.
Analysis: Luca Sbisa proved active on both sides of the ice on his return, attempting three shots on offense while blocking three shots defensively. While Sbisa is seemingly healthy, the Ducks boast a good deal of depth on the blue line, making him something of a risk to be scratched on occasion during the postseason.

Ducks' Sbisa Sits Wednesday With Injury

News: Luca Sbisa missed Wednesday's game against the Sharks with an upper-body injury, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Luca Sbisa's absence was lessened by the return of top blueliner Cam Fowler, who had missed the last three weeks of action with a leg injury. With the Ducks close to full strength on defense now, it might have been difficult for Sbisa to find regular ice time, even if he weren't dealing with the injury.

Sbisa Scores In Ducks' Win

News: Luca Sbisa scored the opening goal during the first period of a 5-1 victory over the Canucks on Saturday.
Analysis: Saturday's goal ends an eight-game-long pointless streak for Luca Sbisa and is his first goal of the season.

Ducks' Sbisa No Longer Plagued By Knee Issue

News: Luca Sbisa (knee) is expected to be available for Wednesday's game vs. the Flames, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Coach Bruce Boudreau said Luca Sbisa and Mathieu Perreault (forearm) are both ready to return to action, but there's only room in the lineup for one player Wednesday. Although the report anticipates Perreault will enter the lineup Tuesday, Sbisa's fantasy owners can probably consider the blueliner healthy at this point.

Ducks' Sbisa Resumes Skating

News: Luca Sbisa (knee) was on the ice for morning skate Monday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Luca Sbisa won't play in Monday's game vs. the Maple Leafs, but his presence on the ice bodes well for his chances of joining the Ducks on their upcoming three-game road trip. He first suffered the knee injury in Friday's loss to the Penguins.

Ducks' Sbisa Won't Play On Monday

News: Luca Sbisa (knee) won't play Monday against the Maple Leafs, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Luca Sbisa is dealing with a left knee injury that he sustained Friday against the Penguins. With two assists in 17 games to date to go along with a minus-7 rating, Sbisa's fantasy impact thus far has been limited to the 35 PIM he has recorded in that span.

Ducks' Sbisa Leaves Friday With Lower-Body Injury

News: Luca Sbisa did not return to the bench for the second period of Friday's game due to a lower-body injury and is doubtful to return.
Analysis: No other details were given with regard to the injury, but not returning to the ice doesn't sound too promising. Consider him day-to-day for now and expect the Ducks to update his condition over the weekend.

Ducks' Sbisa Returning Tuesday

News: Luca Sbisa (hand) will play Tuesday against the Wild, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Luca Sbisa has been out for more than two months with the torn tendon in his right hand, but he'll step back onto the ice Tuesday to face Minnesota. While the 23-year-old put up 25 penalty minutes in nine games prior to the injury, he really didn't help fantasy owners anywhere else, with just one assist and a minus-5 rating.

Ducks' Sbisa Could Play Tuesday

News: Luca Sbisa (hand) practiced Monday, and could be in the lineup Tuesday against the Wild, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Luca Sbisa hasn't played since November, and has only managed one assist in nine games during his injury riddled season. It would be wise to avoid him in fantasy leagues until he proves he can stay healthy.

Ducks' Sbisa In Need Of More Practice Time

News: Coach Bruce Boudreau said Luca Sbisa (hand) needs a few more "good practices" before returning to action.
Analysis: In other words, he won't be used Tuesday against the Jets, and his status for Thursday's game against the Kings would also appear to be in doubt. Hand and ankle injuries have limited Luca Sbisa to just nine games with the Ducks this season.

Ducks' Sbisa Rejoins Team

News: Luca Sbisa (hand) has rejoined the Ducks after completing a conditioning assignment at AHL Norfolk over the weekend.
Analysis: With Luca Sbisa holding up well during his rehab assignment, it was seem as though he'll be available to play Tuesday against the Jets if coach Bruce Boudreau chooses to use him. Because Sbisa is still technically on injured reserve, the team will need to make a roster move to facilitate his return.

Ducks' Sbisa To AHL For Conditioning

News: Luca Sbisa (hand) was loaned to AHL Norfolk on Friday for a conditioning assignment, the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Surgery to repair a torn tendon in Luca Sbisa's right hand has kept the 23-year-old out of action for nearly two months, but he appears to be nearing a return. He'll likely need a few games to get his legs under him, but Sbisa could be up at some point next week.

Ducks' Sbisa Could Return Next Week

News: Coach Bruce Boudreau said Luca Sbisa (hand) could return from injured reserve next week, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Now almost eight weeks removed from suffering a torn tendon in his hand, Luca Sbisa seems to have incorporated further activities into his rehab regimen. The defenseman had one point and a minus-5 rating in nine games before suffering the injury and may not have a regular lineup spot of his own upon returning.

Ducks' Sbisa Out 6-8 Weeks With Hand Injury

News: Luca Sbisa will miss the next six-to-eight weeks after suffering a torn tendon in his right hand in Friday's game, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: The Ducks' blue line depth was already being tested after Francois Beauchemin suffered an injury and landed on IR earlier this week, and now Luca Sbisa will be ticketed for the same fate. Sbisa wasn't one of the Ducks' more productive blueliners, but having to replace him in the lineup with a minor leaguer still weakens the team's overall defensive effort.

Sbisa Gets Assist In Return To Ducks

News: Luca Sbisa merited an assist in the first period of a 2-1 win over the Rangers on Monday.
Analysis: The fact that he was able to log an assist in his first game back, has to be a good sign for the state of his recovery from his recent ankle injury.

Ducks' Sbisa Expected To Play Monday

News: Luca Sbisa (ankle) is expected to return to the lineup Monday against the Rangers, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Luca Sbisa has not played this season due to the sprained ankle, but indications are that he will return for Monday's game against the Rangers. He will add a solid boost on defense for the Ducks when he does return.

Ducks' Sbisa (Ankle) Recalled, Still On IR

News: Luca Sbisa (ankle) was recalled from his condition assignment with AHL Norfolk on Sunday.
Analysis: Apparently Luca Sbisa has his legs back under him, but the team did not immediately activate him from long-term IR and it's not clear when they plan to do so.

Ducks Assign Sbisa For Conditioning

News: The Ducks reassigned Luca Sbisa (ankle) to AHL Norfolk on Thursday for conditioning.
Analysis: Luca Sbisa has yet to make his season debut for the Ducks, but Thursday's reassignment was the first step in the process. He'll get some playing time in the AHL to get his legs under him before returning to the Ducks.

Ducks' Sbisa Practices Monday

News: Luca Sbisa (ankle) was a full participant in Monday's practice, but will not return for Tuesday's game against the Flyers.
Analysis: Luca Sbisa appears to be approaching a return from injured reserve, but will not quite be ready Tuesday. He's tentatively targeting a return either Saturday or Monday and will give the Ducks a nice boost on defense when he can return to the ice.

Ducks' Sbisa Still A Little Ways Off

News: Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said Wednesday that Luca Sbisa (ankle) is still a little ways away from returning, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Luca Sbisa was on the ice for another practice Wednesday, but Boudreau said afterward that the 23-year-old is still unable to take part in battle drills. As of now, it does not appear activation from IR is imminent for Sbisa, though he's eligible to come off at any time.

Ducks' Sbisa Practices

News: Luca Sbisa (ankle) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: The blueliner is still on IR with the ankle injury, but it seems likely that he'll be activated any day now. He recorded just one goal and seven assists in 41 games last season, so even when he returns, he probably won't be the most productive option on the back end.

Ducks' Sbisa Skates Tuesday

News: Luca Sbisa (ankle) participated in Tuesday's morning skate.
Analysis: The Ducks haven't provided any indication of when Luca Sbisa might return despite suggesting in early October that he was a week away from returning. It appears he's still recovering slowly from the ankle injury he suffered in the Sept. 16 preseason opener against the Coyotes.

Ducks' Sbisa Takes Part In Controlled Skate

News: Luca Sbisa (ankle) took part in a controlled skate Wednesday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Afterward, Luca Sbisa said that he plans to accompany the team on its upcoming eight-game road trip, which begins next Tuesday. He's aiming to make it back by the end of that trip, so by early November.

Ducks' Sbisa At Least A Week Away From Return

News: Luca Sbisa (ankle) isn't expected to return from injured reserve for another week or two, the Orange County Register's Eric Stephens reports.
Analysis: Luca Sbisa plans to resume skating Thursday, so he may not be ready for NHL action until the end of the month. The Ducks could choose to send him on a conditioning assignment with their AHL affiliate in order to ease him back from injured reserve.
