News: Michael Stone (upper body) will play against the Canucks on Monday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Michael Stone left Tuesday's game against the Oilers with an upper body injury and has been unable to get back on the ice since. The 24-year-old has made 31 appearances on the season and will be looking to notch his ninth point of the year Monday.

Coyotes Rule Stone Out For Saturday

News: Michael Stone (upper body) will not play Saturday against the Kings, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Though Michael Stone will travel with the team to Los Angeles, he's not considered an option for the game after failing to practice Friday. Connor Murphy enters the lineup in his place.

Coyotes' Stone Doesn't Practice Wednesday

News: Michael Stone (upper body) didn't practice Wednesday, according to Sarah McLellan of AZCentral.com and remains day-to-day.
Analysis: Michael Stone left Tuesday's game against the Oilers early in the first period and should be considered questionable for Saturday's game against the Kings until he can return to practice.

Coyotes' Stone Leaves With Upper-Body Injury

News: Michael Stone left Tuesday's win over the Oilers in the first period with an upper-body injury and didn't return, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Michael Stone suffered the injury when he was leveled by the Oilers' Steve Pinizzotto, leaving the Coyotes to play with only five defensemen for the majority of the game. He's being viewed as day-to-day for now, but the Coyotes should have a better idea if he'll be available for Saturday's game against the Kings based on how the next couple of practices go.

Coyotes' Stone Scores In Loss

News: Michael Stone scored his second goal of the season and added an assist Tuesday in a loss to the Avalanche. He had a strong game adding four shots, five blocks, and two hits while going plus-1.
Analysis: Michael Stone is not a big scorer, but he can make contributions in other categories. He is playing just under 19 minutes per game on the second defense pairing for Arizona.

Coyotes' Stone Pots First Goal

News: Michael Stone nabbed his first goal in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Capitals.
Analysis: The 24-year-old Michael Stone doesn't have the same kind of offensive ability as fellow blueliners Keith Yandle and Oliver Ekman-Larsson, but with an average of two shots per game over 11 contests, he doesn't fit the mold of a stay-at-home defenseman, either. He compiled 21 points in 70 games last season, and wouldn't be surprised if he bested that production in 2014-15.

Coyotes' Stone In Mix for Top Six

News: Michael Stone, who scored eight times last season, is in line for a top six pairing, but who he will be partnered with is unclear, according to the Arizona Republic's Sarah McLellan. He will also get a look for the Coyotes' second power play unit.
Analysis: The Coyotes are playing with their defense pairings in training camp and pre-season games. If he gets some power play time, Michael Stone's value will increase, but it's too early to read much into the team's plans at this point. Still, this is positive news for the 24 year-old.

Coyotes' Stone Has Strong Game In Loss

News: Michael Stone had a big game for the Coyotes on Saturday in a loss to Minnesota. Despite a minus-2 rating, Stone put five shots on net, blocked five shots, had two hits and three take aways. He was named the game's second star for his efforts.
Analysis: Michael Stone rushed out of the gates offensively, scoring seven of his eight goals before the end of November. He has proven to be a solid defender for Phoenix despite the goals drying up and that's where his value lies. He has a solid 142 hits and 103 blocked shots this year.

Coyotes' Stone Providing Hits Defensively

News: Michael Stone has accumulated 107 hits over 47 games, good for third on the team.
Analysis: Michael Stone has also been an acceptable scorer for the Coyotes with 14 points, though he's recorded no goals and just one assist over his last 11 games. The recent lack of scoring and a minus-13 rating on the season make him waiver wire bait in most leagues.

Coyotes' Stone Scores First Goal Since November

News: Michael Stone scored his first goal since back on Nov. 21 in Tuesday's win over the Flames. He added an assist in the 6-0 romp.
Analysis: Michael Stone managed all of three assists in the 18 games between his seventh and eighth goals of the season. His hot start in the goal-scoring column had faded into memory up until Tuesday, but hey, he's got four points in the last four games.

Coyotes' Stone On A Roll With Goals

News: Michael Stone scored his seventh goal of the season Thursday against Colorado. That ties him for the league lead for goals among defensemen.
Analysis: Michael Stone, who put five shots on net in the game and scored for the fourth time in three games, still has yet to register an assist, but his owners are loving the production from a defenseman who was not expected to emerge in that area this year. He has already set a career high in goals and will undoubtedly do so in points as well, since his career high is nine.

Coyotes' Stone Scores Again

News: Michael Stone scored his sixth goal of the season Saturday against Tampa Bay. It was his third goal in the last two games.
Analysis: Michael Stone leads the Coyotes' defensemen in goals, but remarkably has yet to pick up an assist. The 23-year-old has shown more than many expected from him offensively, so keep an eye on his development, but retain realistic expectations about his ceiling.

Coyotes' Stone Scores Twice

News: Michael Stone scored a pair of goals Thursday in a shootout loss to Chicago.
Analysis: He's already picked up five markers this year despite taking just 20 shots on goal, but has't yet dished out an assist. The future is bright for the 23-year-old defenseman, who in 14 games has already tied his goal total in 40 games last yaer.

Coyotes' Stone Scores Third Of Season

News: Michael Stone scored a power-play goal Wednesday against Anaheim.
Analysis: Michael Stone is not a big offensive contribtor on the Coyotes, but he is averaging 1:32 of ice time per game on the power play, which could lead to a few more power-play points over the course of the season.

Coyotes' Stone Pots One Against Oilers

News: Michael Stone scored his second goal of the season Saturday against Edmonton, seeing his first action in four games thanks to an injury to Rostislav Klesla.
Analysis: Michael Stone made good on his opportunity to play Saturday. With Klesla's injury timetable uncertain, he may get a few more chances to crack the lineup.

Coyotes' Stone Scores First Of Season

News: Michael Stone notched his first goal of the year Thursday, the game-winning tally in a win over the Red Wings.
Analysis: After being scratched the first two games, Michael Stone's gotten his chance, and though he wasn't very good in his season debut (minus-2, one shot), he looked a lot better in this one. The 23-year-old has decent fantasy upside if he can play his way into more ice time.

Coyotes' Stone To Start Season As Odd Man Out

News: Michael Stone, who played in 40 of the Coyotes' 48 games in 2012-13, has made the team, but finds himself outside the top six defensemen to start the season, according to the Arizona Republic.
Analysis: Michael Stone admitted that he did not have his best training camp, and coach Dave Tippett felt the same way. With teammate Rotislav Klesla recovering from a concussion, the 23-year-old has some time to work his way back into the top-six rotation, but he will need to step his game up to do so.

Coyotes Sign Stone To Three-Year Contract

News: Michael Stone signed a three-year contract with the Coyotes on Friday, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: Michael Stone progressed nicely in his second season, recording nine points (five goals, four assists), while logging 16:41 of ice time. He'll more than likely pair up with Keith Yandle yet again on the blue line.

Coyotes' Stone With Two-Point Night

News: Michael Stone notched two points, including the game-tying goal just minutes into the second period, as the Coyotes grabbed two critical points against Detroit on Thursday.
Analysis: Michael Stone isn't going to produce much point-wise on the season (six points in 30 games), but he's more than held his own this season from the blue line after playing in just 13 NHL games last season. Stone is averaging 16:07 of ice time, has a minus-1 rating and 33 shots on goal to go along with 14 PIMs.

Coyotes' Stone Lights Lamp

News: Michael Stone notched his second goal of the season to even Monday's game against Anaheim at four in the third period. The Coyotes would go on to win, 5-4, in the shootout.
Analysis: Michael Stone has three points on the season, but it was one of the better games from the young blueliner, as he took on a new defensive pairing with vet Keith Yandle, who also found the back of the net Monday.

Coyotes' Stone Recalled From AHL

News: Michael Stone was recalled from AHL Portland on Friday.
Analysis: The 22-year-old Michael Stone got the call Friday, and he may see some time Saturday if Derek Morris (upper body) can't play his usual minutes. Stone has put up 28 points (6G, 22A) in 36 AHL games this season, but he hasn't recorded a point in 10 games with the Coyotes this year.
