Devils Recall Zharkov

News: Vladimir Zharkov was recalled from Albany (AHL) and will play in Friday's contest against Washington, the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Vladimir Zharkov has not played in an NHL contest this season and likely won't have much of an offensive impact during his limited ice time the next few games. The Devils are down at forward with Eric Boulton (hand) and Ilya Kovalchuk nursing a pulled leg muscle.

Devils Waive Zharkov

News: Vladimir Zharkov was placed on waivers by the Devils on Monday, ESPN New York reports.

Zharkov Recalled By Devils

News: The Devils recalled Zharkov from Albany (AHL) on Monday, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

New Jersey Sends Zharkov To AHL

News: Zharkov was assigned to the AHL on Thursday, Bergen Record writer Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: Zharkov only posted two points (one goal) in his 11 appearances this season, but he has skated to a plus-3 rating. He played regularly for New Jersey in January and so it'd be surprising if he didn't have a semi-regular role on the team after the All-Star break.

Devils' Zharkov Could Play Wednesday

News: Zharkov (illness) did not participate in Monday's optional skate, but remains optimistic that he'll be able to play Wednesday, NorthJersey.com reports.
Analysis: Head coach Jacques Lemaire said that Zharkov, who has missed the team's last two games, still needs to get stronger, noting that he "looks better, but he's not strong, as strong as he can be." Zharkov believes he'll be ready to practice Tuesday and will likely be a game-time decision Wednesday.

Devils' Zharkov Out Sunday

News: Zharkov (illness) will miss Sunday's game against the Panthers, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Sunday will be Zharkov's second straight missed game. He may not be out much longer, so be sure to keep your eye on injury reports in the coming days if Zharkov is someone you depend on.

Devils' Zharkov Out Saturday

News: Zharkov has an illness and will not play Saturday against the Flyers, according to Tom Gulitti of The Bergen Record.
Analysis: With two points in 10 games this season, Zharkov isn't someone you'd normally be counting on anyway, but the Flyers are about as tough a matchup as you can get these days, and having all hands on deck would have helped the Devils. Nick Palmieri will not be playing either.

News: Zharkov was optioned to Albany (AHL) on Monday, according to the Bergen Record.

Zharkov misses only one game

News: Devils RW Vladimir Zharkov returned to the lineup on Friday against the Canadiens after missing one game with a lower-body injury. He has no points in 7:18 of ice time and finished at even.
Analysis: Zharkov now has no points in his last eight games. Zharkov was a real spark for New Jersey after getting recalled in late November, but the Russian still hasn't scored in 24 games. Zharkov has marginal Fantasy appeal when healthy. The rookie is still learning the NHL game.

Zharkov has one point in eight games

News: Devils RW Vladimir Zharkov failed to record a point and finished at plus-1 during Sunday's game against the Lightning. He has only one point in his last eight games.
Analysis: Zharkov played pretty well after his recall from the minors in December, but his hot streak has worn off. Zharkov mostly fills time on the Devils lower lines. He does see power-play minutes, but he still hasn't scored in 19 games. Zharkov has marginal Fantasy appeal.
