Ducks Trade Staubitz to Leafs

News: Brad Staubitz was traded to the Maple Leafs on Saturday along with Peter Holland for defenseman Jesse Blacker and two 2014 draft picks.
Analysis: Brad Staubitz was waived back in late October and went unclaimed, landing him back in AHL Norfolk. He'll likely stay with the Toronto Marlies for now and might be up should the Leafs decide an overhaul is necessary.

Ducks Waive Staubitz on Sunday

News: Brad Staubitz was placed on waivers by the Ducks on Sunday, reports TSN's Bob McKenzie.
Analysis: This is actually the second time in less than a month that the Ducks have placed Brad Staubitz on waivers. He cleared the first time and landed in the AHL, so it's more than likely he will clear again.

Ducks Waive Staubitz

News: Brad Staubitz was waived by the Ducks on Saturday, Ren Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: As a player with 521 career penalty minutes in 230 games, Brad Staubitz could attract some interest on waivers from a team looking for a fourth-line enforcer. If not, he'll stick with the Ducks organization and head to AHL Norfolk.

Staubitz Scores In Ducks' Win

News: Brad Staubitz scored a goal in the second period of the Ducks' 3-1 defeat of the Canucks on Thursday.
Analysis: Scoring a goal in only his second game back after missing nearly a month, indicates that he is recovering well from his recent injury.

Ducks' Staubitz Returns

News: Brad Staubitz returned to action for Anaheim's win over San Jose on Monday after missing four games due to a facial cut.
Analysis: Brad Staubitz only played 7:59, which is actually more than he usually sees, and typically didn't register on the scoresheet, but did have an effect on the ice with four hits. He remains a source of a few penalty minutes here and there along with some hits and blocks, and that's about it.

Ducks' Staubitz (Face) Lands On IR

News: Brad Staubitz (facial laceration) was placed on injured reserve Monday, according to Curtis Zupke of NHL.com.
Analysis: It took 35 stitches to close the wound on Brad Staubitz's face after he was cut by the blade of a stick during Friday's game. He'll definitely miss the next two games while on IR, but it seems likely Staubitz will be back before too long.

Ducks' Staubitz Escapes Major Injury

News: Brad Staubitz was hit with the blade of a stick just below his nose in Friday's win over the Ducks, the Orange County Register reports. He took 35 stitches and later returned to the game.
Analysis: Ironically, Brad Staubitz recorded his first point of the year upon returning with an assist. He's out there for his fists, having racked up 41 penalty minutes in just eight games.

Staublitz Brings Fists To Anaheim

News: Brad Staubitz has signed a two-year deal with Anaheim, reports Bob McKenzie of TSN.
Analysis: No terms yet, but he'll bring his brawny play to the rough-and-tumble Ducks. He's a sin-bin play in fantasy; his hands don't contribute much else.

Staubitz Finally Scores As Habs Win Finale

News: Brad Staubitz, of all skaters, scored Montreal's final goal of the season Saturday, rifling a 175-foot shot into an empty net with two minutes to play as the Canadiens whipped Toronto, 4-1.
Analysis: He waited as late as possible to register his first point of the season. He ends the campaign with 121 penalty minutes and that one lonely point.

Staubitz Passes Century Mark In Montreal's Win

News: The zebras collared Brad Staubitz for fighting in the second stanza of Saturday's contest with Vancouver. The five-minute major brings his season total to 102 penalty minutes, including 29 PIMs in just six games with the Canadiens.
Analysis: His goon rating (penalty minutes divided by points scored) remains infinite, as he has yet to register a point this season, split between the Wild and the Canadiens. We would have thought that he'd have collected a point by accident before now, but his offensive columns remain empty.

Staubitz Makes Montreal Debut

News: Brad Staubitz made his Montreal debut Tuesday night, picking up 17 penalty minutes while skating five shifts for 3:51 in the Canadiens' loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: Brad Staubitz was a waiver pickup Monday and gives Montreal a fighter who hadn't scored a goal in 43 games this season with the Wild. He does get credit for coming to the aid of new teammate Alexi Emelin when he was getting pounded by Tampa Bay's Ryan Malone, who was seeking vengeance for a hit Emelin laid on him earlier.

Staubitz Claimed By Montreal

News: The Canadiens have claimed Brad Staubitz off re-entry waivers from the Wild, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: Brad Staubitz has somehow managed to play 43 NHL games this season without scoring a point, but he can help PIM-chasers we suppose, as he has racked up 73 penalty minutes to date.

Minnesota's Staubitz On Re-Entry Waivers

News: Brad Staubitz was placed on re-entry waivers Saturday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: The fighter stayed in the AHL for four games before Minnesota made the move.

Minnesota's Staubitz Clears Waivers

News: Brad Staubitz cleared waivers Saturday, Minneapolis Star Tribune writer Michael Russo reports.
Analysis: Minnesota will attempt to trade Brad Staubitz, but he'll head to the AHL if the Wild can't find any takers.

Wild Place Staubitz on Waivers

News: The Wild placed Brad Staubitz on waivers Friday, the team's official Twitter page reports.
Analysis: If you've been using Brad Staubitz to provide PIMs for your fantasy team (he has 73 this season), you may need to start looking elsewhere. There's a possibility that he'll be sent down if he clears waivers.

More Sin-Bin Time For St. Louis' Staubitz

News: Brad Staubitz was sent off for his eighth fighting major of the season Saturday as Minnesota fell to the Blues, 3-2. The zebras tacked on an extra two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct, giving him seven PIMs on the night.
Analysis: His season-long scoring drought continued -- no points in 39 games to date -- but he isn't getting paid for his offense. His pure-goon quotient (PIMs divided by points scored) is infinite, and you can't get better than that.

Wild's Staubitz Returns From Suspension

News: Brad Staubitz returned from a three-game suspension and had two penalty minutes in just over four minutes of ice time in Thursday's win over Edmonton.
Analysis: He'll get limited ice time as Minnesota's enforcer.

Wild's Staubitz To Miss First Three Games

News: Brad Staubitz sat out Saturday's contest as part of the suspension he received late in the preseason for an illegal hit from behind on Cody Bass.
Analysis: Back on September 25, the Wild's enforcer was suspended for the remainder of the preseason and for the first three games of the regular season. He will be eligible to return on October 13.

Wild's Staubitz To Miss Three Regular Season Games

News: Brad Staubitz has been suspended for the remainder of the preseason and for three regular-season games for his illegal hit from behind on Cody Bass in a preseason game, James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail reports.
Analysis: Brad Staubitz likely is just going to take his punishment, so assuming no appeal make sure you get your penalty minutes elsewhere for the first few regular season games.

Wild's Staubitz Suspended Indefinitely

News: Brad Staubitz has been suspended indefinitely for checking Columbus' Cody Bass from behind in Friday's preseason game, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Brad Staubitz received a major penalty and game misconduct for his act, so don't be surprised if he is forced to sit out a couple games at the beginning of the season.

Seven PIMs Put Wild's Staubitz Over Century Mark

News: With seven penalty minutes in Saturday's game against the Blues, Staubitz reached 101 PIMs on the campaign.
Analysis: As long as you don't need him to score goals or rack up assists, he's a terrific contributor in the Bad-Boy category.

Staubitz Piles Up PIMs in Wild Loss

News: Staubitz managed 12 penalty minutes and an assist in 3:11 of ice time during Monday's loss to Columbus.
Analysis: It's not often someone grabs two-thirds of a Gordie Howe Hat Trick in just over three minutes of ice time. Staubitz is a smart play if you need goon points, but he has no goals and just two assists this season. Monday's performance has to be some kind of record, though.

Seven PIMs for Staubitz in Wild's Win

News: The zebras saddled Staubitz with seven penalty minutes in Saturday's win at Los Angeles.
Analysis: There's only one reason to have Staubitz on your fantasy roster. He has 45 PIMs in 26 games, to go with one lonely assist in the scoring columns. He isn't among the league leaders in sin-bin time, but if you're stitching together a goon squad using modest misbehavers, he's your go-to guy on Minnesota's roster.

Wild's Staubitz Registers First Point

News: Staubitz had an assist in Thursday's win over Edmonton.
Analysis: It's his first point in five games this season. Staubitz mostly adds toughness to the Wild, so don't expect much offense. His fantasy value is usually limited to leagues that reward penalty minutes.

Wild's Staubitz Out of Friday's Lineup

News: Staubitz is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Panthers, according to Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Analysis: Casey Wellman will slot into the fourth line in Staubitz's place. Staubitz only skated nine shifts in Thursday's loss. As far as we know he's not injured, it's more that the team is giving Wellman a shot on that bottom line, shooting for a little more offense instead of a little more toughness.
