Jackets Assign Tyrell To AHL

News: Dana Tyrell was assigned to AHL Springfield on Sunday.
Analysis: Dana Tyrell averaged 6:56 of ice time in three contests with the Jackets, but failed to post a point and fired just one shot on net. His assignment could indicate Jack Skille is ready to return from a head injury.

Blue Jackets Recall Tyrell

News: Dana Tyrell was recalled from AHL Springfield on Saturday.
Analysis: With rookie Marko Dano struggling to bring much offense in recent contests, the Blue Jackets deciding to send him to the minors to regain some confidence, bringing up Dana Tyrell in his stead. The 25-year-old Tyrell had an impressive five goals and nine points over seven games with Springfield, but he'll likely struggle to contribute anywhere close to that point production in a bottom-six role with Columbus.

Blue Jackets Waive Tyrell

News: Dana Tyrell was waived by the Blue Jackets on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: After losing out on his quest to win a checking-line role with the Blue Jackets, Dana Tyrell will more than likely ply his trade in the minors upon clearing waivers.

Jackets Re-Sign Tyrell To One-Year, Two-Way Deal

News: Dana Tyrell re-signed with the Blue Jackets on Monday, inking a one-year, two-way deal.
Analysis: Dana Tyrell spent the bulk of last season in the AHL, splitting time between the Springfield Falcons and Syracuse Crunch. In 63 total games, he recorded 15 goals and 18 assists. Tyrell also made a brief cameo with the Tampa Bay Lightning, appearing in seven contests. Acquired from Tampa Bay in March, Tyrell figures to spend parts of next season in both the NHL and AHL.

Tyrell Sent To Blue Jackets In Four-Prospect Deal

News: Dana Tyrell and Matt Taormina were traded to the Blue Jackets on Tuesday in exchange for Jonathan Audy-Marchessault and Dalton Smith.
Analysis: Dana Tyrell had nine goals and 12 assists over 44 games for AHL Syracuse. Though he's just 24 years old, Tyrell isn't regarded as a top prospect, but he'll get a chance to make an impact with his new organization. Look for him to report to AHL Springfield.

Lightning's Tyrell Re-Assigned To AHL

News: Dana Tyrell was re-assigned to AHL Syracuse on Wednesday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Steven Stamkos (leg) is still a ways away from a return, but it looks like the team will get Tom Pyatt (collarbone) back Thursday, making Dana Tyrell expendable. In 132 career NHL games, Tyrell has posted 24 points (7G, 17A) and 26 penalty minutes.

Lightning's Tyrell Scratched Tuesday

News: Dana Tyrell was scratched from Tuesday's lineup against the Capitals, the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Dana Tyrell has appeared in four games this season after being recalled from AHL Syracuse on Nov. 27. He's yet to record a point, however, and has attempted just three shots on goal in 37:24 of total ice time.

Bolts Recall Tyrell

News: Dana Tyrell was recalled from AHL Syracuse on Wednesday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: The move indicates that neither Pierre-Cedric Labrie (upper body) or Ryan Malone (foot) will be ready to play Wednesday vs. the Flyers, allowing Dana Tyrell to enter the lineup for the first time this season. He's likely to serve on the fourth line with the Bolts but isn't expected to remain in the NHL very long.

Tyrell Waived By Lightning

News: Dana Tyrell was waived by the Lightning on Sunday, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Dana Tyrell will likely end up with AHL Syracuse once he clears waivers Monday. He scored a goal and added three assists in 21 games with Bolts last season. He will provide the Lightning with some organizational depth at the center position.

Lightning's Tyrell Assigned to AHL Syracuse

News: Dana Tyrell has been assigned to AHL Syracuse, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Dana Tyrell tallied one point during his six-game stint with the Lightning. This transaction will allow Tyrell to get additional ice time to develop, which was limited at the NHL level with the Lightning.

Lightning Recall Tyrell

News: The Lightning recalled Dana Tyrell from AHL Syracuse on Saturday.
Analysis: Dana Tyrell appeared in six games with the Lightning earlier this season and picked up a goal and an assist. He will help fill in for the injured Vincent Lecavalier, who will miss the next several weeks.

Lightning's Tyrell Clears Waivers, Heads To Syracuse

News: After clearing waivers on Saturday, Dana Tyrell has been assigned to the Lightning's AHL affiliate in Syracuse, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: With just one goal, one assist and diminished ice time, Dana Tyrell was a healthy scratch for the Lightning's last three games and deemed expendable. Having cleared waivers, he will, at least, spend more time on the ice for Syracuse and likely be used as organizational depth. He could be back at some point, but his fantasy upside is extremely limited.

Lightning's Tyrell Placed On Waivers

News: Dana Tyrell has been placed on waivers, TSN's Renaud Lavoie reports.
Analysis: Dana Tyrell was a healthy scratch in Tampa Bay's last three games, but does have a goal and an assist this season. He could be headed to the AHL if he goes unclaimed.

Bolts' Tyrell: Two-Point Effort

News: Dana Tyrell picked up a goal and an assist in limited ice time Tuesday in a win over the Panthers.
Analysis: He skated just 9:04, but made every shift count. His fantasy value is limited, as the Bolts rely on their lower lines for buzzing rather than scoring. These points are his first of the season.

Bolts' Tyrell (Knee): Rehab On Track

News: Dana Tyrell's rehabilitation from knee surgery is on track and he should be back at full strength for training camp, reports the Tampa Tribune.
Analysis: "It's been five months and everything is up to date," Dana Tyrell said. "Now the next thing is to get back on skates, get on the ice and get the lungs back into gear." The surgery was his second on the same knee. He'll be in a dogfight for a roster spot during camp; the Lightning have surprising depth up front.

Bolts' Tyrell (Knee) Out For Season

News: Dana Tyrell (knee) will undergo surgery to repair the ACL in his right knee and will be out for the rest of the season, not the six weeks originally reported, according to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Analysis: Typical ACL reconstructions mean a guy is out for four-to-six months. And he'll re-gain full strength in nine months to just over a year. He won't be back until training camp at the very earliest.

Tampa's Tyrell Out Six Weeks

News: Dana Tyrell will have reconstructive knee surgery next week and is expected to be out six weeks, the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Dana Tyrell injured his knee a week ago. He tried to play through it, but the condition worsened. It's the same knee he had repaired two years ago.

Tyrell Out Tuesday For Tampa

News: Dana Tyrell (undisclosed) won't play against Columbus on Tuesday, Tampa Tribune writer Erik Erlendsson reports.
Analysis: It's not clear if this is an aggravation of the lower body injury Dana Tyrell was dealing with, but Erlendsson said it "doesn't sound good."

Bolts' Tyrell Returns To Lineup Friday

News: After missing one game with a lower body injury, Dana Tyrell returned to action Friday against Dallas.
Analysis: Everything seems fine for Dana Tyrell after taking a night off. He logged 14:27 in ice time and returned to his usual role on the penalty kill.

Bolts' Tyrell Out With Lower-Body Injury

News: Dana Tyrell will not play Tuesday because of a lower-body injury, reports the Lightning's official site.
Analysis: He's listed as day to day after sustaining the injury in the third period of Sunday's game.

Bolts Sign Tyrell For Two More Years

News: Dana Tyrell has signed a two-year extension with the Lightning, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: It appears that both years are one-way contracts, meaning that Dana Tyrell would have to be exposed to waivers in order to go back to the AHL after this season. Most of his value comes from contributions to the checking line, however, so there's little in the way for fantasy owners here at the present time.

Bolts Call Up Tyrell

News: Dana Tyrell has been called up from the AHL, reports Damian Cristodero of the St. Petersburg Times.
Analysis: Dana Tyrell brings fourth-line speed, checking acumen and strong own-zone play. He's reliable on the ice but has little value in the fantasy arena.

Lightning's Tyrell to Open in Minors

News: The Lightning are expected to assign Dana Tyrell to AHL Norfolk on Tuesday, according to the team' official Twitter page.
Analysis: Dana Tyrell lost out on a roster spot to 2010 first-rounder Brett Connolly. Tyrell played in 78 games for the Lightning last season and is still just 22 years old, so expect him to return to Tampa Bay at some point this season.

Tyrell In Tough For Job With Bolts

News: Dana Tyrell, who was a full-timer last season with the Lightning, is in a battle to make the club this season, reports the St. Petersburg Times.
Analysis: He is impressing coach Guy Boucher, though. "He's relentless," said Boucher. "He has the speed that we want. He has the relentlessness that we want." That isn't a guarantee for a job -- there are lots of guys in the mix. And Boucher was quick to add that Dana Tyrell needs to improve his poise with the puck while under pressure to reduce mistakes. If he does make the cut, Tyrell will be a guy who focuses on penalty killing and defensive match-ups to irritate the opponent's top line. There's rarely any fantasy value in that.
