Garrison Powers Bolts To Win With Big Goal

News: Jason Garrison scored the game-winning goal on the power play and added an assist in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: He has a massive shot, but he hadn't shown it much during the regular season -- he had a great year, but had powered home just four snipes. He now plays a much more well-rounded game and that tends to make him relatively ordinary in fantasy circles.

Bolts' Garrison Gets Assist In Return

News: Jason Garrison (upper body) returned to action Thursday in Game 4 against the Red Wings and picked up an assist in 14:14 of ice time.
Analysis: Tampa eased him back into action and he looked fine. Jason Garrison's presence should provide the Lightning with stability on the back end as they battle to get past Detroit in the first round.

Lightning's Garrison Takes Ice For Warmups

News: Jason Garrison (upper body) is on the ice for pregame warmups ahead of Thursday's Game 4 against the Red Wings, Chuck Pleiness of the Macomb Daily reports.
Analysis: Jason Garrison is considered a game-time decision, but he hinted that he should be able to play. Given his participation in warmups, he'll likely be in the lineup for Thursday's game.

Bolts' Garrison: Game-Time Call Thursday

News: Jason Garrison (upper body) will be a game-time decision for Thursday's Game 4 against the Red Wings, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Coach Jon Cooper wouldn't divulge his lineup for Game 4, but for what it's worth, Jason Garrison said he would be "comfortable" playing if needed. It hasn't been determined yet if Garrison will take part in warmups, but if he does, it would more than likely foreshadow his return to the lineup. Should Garrison indeed suit up, it's unclear who he might replace in the lineup, though rookie Nikita Nesterov would seem the most vulnerable after logging the fewest minutes among the Bolts' blueliners in Game 3.

Bolts' Garrison Not Being Ruled Out For Series

News: Jason Garrison has been ruled out from playing in Tuesday's Game 3 against the Red Wings.
Analysis: As expected, Jason Garrison will sit out a ninth consecutive contest. On a positive note, coach Jon Cooper indicated that he's still hopeful that Garrison will be available at some point in the series, as the blueliner has been able to increase his contact during practices of late.

Lightning's Garrison Iffy For Tuesday

News: Jason Garrison (upper body) is unlikely to play Tuesday against the Red Wings, NHL.com's Bryan Burns reports.
Analysis: While Jason Garrison hasn't been officially ruled out for the contest, coach Jon Cooper acknowledged Monday that the blueliner is "probably out for tomorrow."

Bolts' Garrison (Upper Body) Out Saturday

News: Jason Garrison (upper body) will not play on Saturday in Game 2 against the Red Wings, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: As expected, Smith will not suit up for Game 2 against the Red Wings on Saturday. However, Jason Garrison has indicated that he's close to returning, and hopes to rejoin the Bolts' lineup sometime next week. His next chance to play will come on Tuesday.

Bolts' Garrison (Upper Body) Likely Out Again

News: Jason Garrison (upper body) said he's unlikely to play Saturday in Game 2 against the Red Wings, Erik Erlandsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jason Garrison indicated that he's close to returning and hopes to be back sometime next week. Following Saturday's game, the Lightning play Game 3 on Tuesday and Game 4 on Thursday.

Bolts' Garrison Ruled Out For Game 1

News: Jason Garrison (upper body) has been ruled out for Game 1 of the Lightning's first-round playoff series against the Red Wings, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Jason Garrison was cleared for contact ahead of Wednesday's practice, but it doesn't sound like he'll have enough time before Thursday's opener to get the necessary amount of practice reps in. The blueliner should continue to skate with the team Thursday morning and practice again Friday, which could put him on track to be ready by the time Game 2 rolls around.

Bolts' Garrison Sheds No-Contact Jersey

News: Jason Garrison (upper body) shed his no-contact jersey for Wednesday's practice, NHL.com's Bryan Burns reports.
Analysis: It's the first time Jason Garrison has been able to fully practice with teammates since suffering his injury March 28. Garrison slotted in on the Bolts' fourth pairing during the session, which suggests he'll still unlikely to play in Game 1 of the team's first-round playoff series with the Red Wings on Thursday. However, it's clear he's progressing from the injury, so expect to see him enter the lineup at some point during the first round.

Bolts' Garrison Gets In No-Contact Practice

News: Jason Garrison (upper body) practiced Monday in a no-contact capacity, Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Jason Garrison stepped up his workload during Monday's session, but the blueliner isn't optimistic of his prospects for the early part of the Lightning's first-round series against the Red Wings. "I don't know what's going to happen this week," Garrison said, regarding a potential return date. "I'm making progress every day. Still lots to gain, but I think if my body responds well, hopefully (I'll return) sooner than later." Garrison is one of three injured Lightning defensemen narrowing in on a return to action at some point in the series.

Bolts' Garrison Doubtful For Start Of Playoffs

News: Jason Garrison (upper body) is doubtful to be available for the start of the postseason, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Jason Garrison was one of a smattering of banged-up Lightning players who took the ice Thursday morning, but he appears to be further behind in his recovery than Andrej Sustr (upper body) and Alex Killorn (undisclosed), both of whom are expected to suit up for Game 1 of the first round. The 30-year-old remains limited to skating on his own at this time, so until he resumes taking full-contact practice with the rest of the team, his return date will be up in the air.

Bolts' Garrison Resumes Skating Thursday

News: Jason Garrison (upper body) resumed skating on his own after Thursday's practice, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jason Garrison took part in light stick-handling drills and seemed to be encouraged by the session. However, the blueliner reiterated afterwards that his 3-to-4 week recovery timetable still holds, making it rather dicey that he'll be back before the second round of the playoffs.

Lightning's Garrison Out 3-To-4 Weeks

News: Jason Garrison will miss 3-to-4 weeks due to an upper-body injury, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Such a timetable effectively rules Jason Garrison (who has 30 points in 70 games to date) out for the remainder of the regular season, further taxing a Tampa Bay blue line that will also be without Andrej Sustr for 1-to-2 weeks.

Bolts Rule Out Garrison With Upper-Body Injury

News: Jason Garrison was ruled out from returning to Saturday's game against the Red Wings due to an upper-body injury, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Jason Garrison skated just two shifts and logged 0:41 of ice time before departing. He should be considered questionable ahead of Monday's game in Montreal until the Lightning issue further word on the severity of his injury.

Lightning's Garrison To Be Evaluated In Tampa

News: Jason Garrison (upper body) will not travel with the team for Tampa Bay's game against Montreal on Monday, reports.
Analysis: Jason Garrison left Saturday's game against Detroit with an upper body injury and did not return. According to Erlendsson, Garrison will be evaluated by team doctors in Tampa Bay.

Bolts' Garrison Exits Early Saturday

News: Jason Garrison left Saturday's game against the Red Wings in the first period after crashing into the boards, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Jason Garrison was able to skate off the ice under his own power, but was sent to the locker room immediately. He hasn't been ruled out of Saturday's game just yet, and should be viewed as day-to-day until the team issues an update on his condition.

Bolts' Garrison Pots Game-Winner Sunday

News: Jason Garrison potted the game-winning goal in Sunday's 5-3 victory over the Bruins.
Analysis: With four goals and 30 points over 67 games, Jason Garrison is scoring at a similar rate to what he posted in Vancouver a season ago, but his fantasy value has still noticed a sizable jump in Tampa Bay due to a sterling plus-28 rating. That rating puts him sixth in the league, and tops among all defensemen.

Bolts' Garrison: Seven Assists In Last Nine Games

News: Jason Garrison picked up an assist on Tuesday in a 1-0 win over Montreal. He now has seven points -- all assists -- in his last nine games.
Analysis: It's an interesting change for the heavy-shooting defender, who went from 16 goals in 2011-12 to just three this year. But he's playing a steady game for the Bolts and that's just what they need from him.

Bolts' Garrison: Six Assists In Last Seven Games

News: Jason Garrison's assist in Sunday's loss to Florida gives him six points -- all assists -- in his last seven games.
Analysis: He had 20 points in his previous 51 outings, so this is a bit like winning the lottery for his owners. Take advantage of this run, but don't expect this kind of windfall to last too much longer.

Two Apples For Bolts' Garrison

News: Jason Garrison set up a pair of goals in Friday's 4-0 shutout of the visiting Blackhawks.
Analysis: The big d-man set up both of Steven Stamkos' tallies in this one, grabbing the primary assist on each. Jason Garrison has four points in the last four games and appears to be fully recovered from the lower-body injury that kept him out of two matches on Feb. 7 and 8.

Lightning's Garrison Likely Back Tuesday

News: Jason Garrison (lower body) will likely rejoin the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Predators, the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: After missing a pair of games over the weekend, Jason Garrison took part in Tuesday's morning skate. There hasn't been any indication that his injury is serious, so a quick return to action would not be all that surprising.

Bolts' Garrison Out Sunday

News: Jason Garrison (lower body) won't play in Sunday's game against the Ducks, Bryan Burns of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Jason Garrison was initially considered questionable for Sunday's game after missing Saturday due to the injury, but it appears the issue is serious enough to cost him multiple contests. His next chance to return will come Tuesday against the Predators; we'll monitor his practice stats for indications of his status.

Bolts' Garrison Doubtful To Play Next Two Games

News: Jason Garrison (lower body) will not play in Saturday's game against the Kings and is considered questionable to suit up Sunday against the Ducks, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Coach Jon Cooper indicated that he didn't think Jason Garrison's absence would be "extremely long-term." In any event, his unavailability leaves the Bolts will just six healthy blueliners, which could prompt the team to call up an extra defenseman from AHL Syracuse in the interim. The Bolts will check in on Garrison's status Sunday morning, but since he wasn't able to skate Saturday, his chances of being ready to play don't appear promising.

Bolts' Garrison Considered Day-To-Day

News: Jason Garrison (lower body) is being labeled as day-to-day, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Jason Garrison exited Thursday's win over the Stars early in the third period with the injury. It looks like he's only dealing with a short-term issue, but his availability for Saturday's game against the Kings might not be known until the morning of the match.
