Bolts' Garrison (Lower Body) Out Tuesday

News: Jason Garrison (lower body) will miss Tuesday's game against the Penguins but has a "decent" chance to return Saturday, Bryan Burns of the Lightning's official site reports.
Analysis: Jason Garrison was considered "highly doubtful" to return Tuesday, and he will indeed miss the contest. The NHL has a Christmas break coming up, which will allow Garrison three days to rest up and a chance to play in the team's next game Saturday against the Hurricanes. Andrej Sustr will likely draw into the lineup in his place Tuesday.

Bolts' Garrison Unlikely For Tuesday

News: Although Jason Garrison (undisclosed) said Monday that he's improving, coach Jon Cooper said he is "highly doubtful" to return Tuesday, the team's official website reports.
Analysis: With the NHL's Christmas break coming up after Tuesday's game, it seems likely that the Lightning will hold Jason Garrison out to let him heal up after he left Sunday's contest with the undisclosed ailment.

Lightning's Garrison Suffers Injury

News: Jason Garrison left Saturday's game against the Islanders with an undisclosed injury and will not return, the Tampa Tribune's Erik Erlendsson reports.
Analysis: The Lightning provided no details about the injury, so everybody is completely in the dark on this one until the team decides to release more information. The good news for Jason Garrison is that the schedule affords him some time to recover: Tampa Bay plays just one game between now and next Saturday.

Bolts' Garrison: Two-Helper Night

News: Jason Garrison picked up two assists in Saturday's win over the Islanders. The points are his first in four games.
Analysis: The gap isn't so bad -- the team is winning and that's all he'll care about. Fantasy owners, on the other hand, would prefer something else entirely. He's actually on pace for a career season, so slot him in -- a defender that delivers a mid-40s point year is a must-roll in most formats.

Bolts' Garrison Assists, Goes Plus-4 In Win

News: Jason Garrison assisted on one of the Bolts' seven goals and finished with a plus-4 rating in Saturday's victory over the Canucks.
Analysis: The move to Tampa has been kind for Jason Garrison, who has amassed two goals, six assists and a plus-7 rating over 14 contests. As a mainstay in the Bolts' top four defensemen and on their talented power-play units, where he's averaging 1:51 of ice time per contest, Garrison is probably worthy of a roster spot in just about any fantasy format.

Bolts' Garrison Booms Winner

News: Jason Garrison scored the game-winning goal in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Capitals. He has a goal in each of his last two games and three points total in that span.
Analysis: We want to recommend him; we really, really do. And we soon will do just that ... that is, if he can show his scoring touch a little more. He owns a rocket of a shot, but until recently, he hasn't been using it. He is now.

Bolts' Garrison: Turning The Corner Offensively?

News: Jason Garrison picked up two power-play points -- a goal and an assist -- in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Flyers. It was his first goal of the season.
Analysis: He has five points in 11 games, but we had honestly expected more. This is a guy who potted 16 the last time he called the state of Florida home, but he has struggled with scoring consistency since then. Still, those five points have all come in the last seven games, so perhaps he's turning the corner. Watch for a trend.

Bolts' Garrison Improves Assist Streak To Three

News: Jason Garrison picked up an assist in his third straight game Tuesday versus the Flames.
Analysis: The injury to Victor Hedman has resulted in increased opportunity for Jason Garrison, who has seen an uptick in ice time at both even strength and on the man advantage over the last three games. He's still in looking for his first goal, but with some expected improvement to come from last season's career-low 3.9 shooting percentage, Garrison shouldn't have to wait much longer.

Garrison Settling In Nicely With Bolts

News: Jason Garrison is settling in nicely in Tampa Bay and his coach Jon Cooper has been impressed with his play so far, reports the Tampa Tribune. "He's a heavy player down low, great defender and a great (penalty kill) guy," said Cooper. "He's savvy, he knows what to do with the puck and doesn't spend a lot of time in his D zone."
Analysis: Cooper was quick to add that he's trying to instill a bit more of a "defense-first mentality" to the entire team and acknowledged that Jason Garrison "has been exceptional at that." We'd honestly been hoping for him to slot onto the team's power play with a bit more consistency to exploit that massive shot. But the team is using Anton Stralman on the second unit and it looks like Garrison is going to be used as more of a shutdown and PK guy. His fantasy value clearly suffers in this role.

Canucks Trade Garrison To Lightning

News: The Canucks traded Jason Garrison and the rights to Jeff Costello to the Lightning on Friday in exchange for the 50th pick in Friday's draft.
Analysis: The Canucks acquired defenseman Luca Sbisa from the Ducks earlier in the day, so they decided to move Jason Garrison to save some money. Expect Garrison to slot into a top-six role with his new squad.

Canucks' Garrison Shining For Canada At Worlds

News: Jason Garrison recorded two assists in Team Canada's 4-1 win over Slovakia at the World Championships on Saturday.
Analysis: Through two preliminary round games, Jason Garrison has been stellar, leading Team Canada with three assists and a plus-3 rating. Garrison is averaging 23:07 of ice time per game, with Canucks teammate Kevin Bieksa being the only other player who has played more. Garrison will look for a strong performance at the Worlds to transition into the upcoming NHL season.

Canucks' Garrison Representing Canada At Worlds

News: Jason Garrison -- who finished the season with 33 points in 81 games -- will be representing Team Canada at the 2014 World Championships in Zurich.
Analysis: Even though his 33 points matched a career high, it was a very inconsistent season for Jason Garrison, who went long stretches without producing. He finished the year with only one assist in his last 13 games, so a stint at the Worlds could help him get back on track. Garrison played alongside Canucks teammate Kevin Bieksa in Canada's first exhibition game -- a 4-0 win over Switzerland on Tuesday.

Canucks' Garrison Tallies Assist In Win

News: Jason Garrison racked up an assist in Sunday's season finale against Calgary. It was his first point in 13 games.
Analysis: Jason Garrison finished the season with seven goals and 33 points in 81 games. His point total matched a career high, but his seven goals were far off the 16 he potted in 2011-12 when he was with Florida. Garrison's minus-5 rating was the worst of his career, while his 3.9 shooting percentage was also the lowest it has ever been. Garrison's main value this season came on the man advantage, where he produced a career-high 15 points while averaging 2:44 of power-play time per game.

Canucks' Garrison Sitting Out Thursday

News: Jason Garrison will sit out Thursday's game against the Avalanche, TSN's Farhan Lalji reports.
Analysis: With the Canucks officially eliminated from playoff contention, the team wants rookie Frank Corrado to play in all three of the Canucks' remaining games. Jason Garrison should get back into the lineup for the next two games, as it was noted that it will be a different Canucks' defenseman sitting out each of the final three games. Garrison has been slumping lately, going 11 straight games without tallying a point. He has seven goals and 32 points in 79 games on the season.

Canucks' Garrison Nabs Assist In Win

News: Jason Garrison picked up an assist in Wednesday's shootout win over the Jets.
Analysis: Jason Garrison has now recorded a point in back-to-back games, giving him seven goals and 25 assists in 68 games on the season. He is on pace to smash his career-high of 33 points, set in the 2011-2012 season with Florida.

Canucks' Garrison Scores In Heritage Classic

News: Jason Garrison blasted home his seventh goal of the season in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Senators.
Analysis: Jason Garrison opened the Heritage Classic scoring with a thundering slap shot on a first-period power play, but the Sens were able to claw their way back from a 2-0 deficit, handing the Canucks their ninth loss in 10 games. Garrison leads all Canucks defensemen with 30 points in 63 games this season.

Canucks' Garrison Scores Goal In Loss

News: Jason Garrison scored his sixth goal of the season during Friday's 4-3 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Jason Garrison tied the game at the 11:50 mark of the third period but the Canucks were unable to hang on long enough to even take the game to overtime. Garrison now has six goals and 22 assists on the season.

Canucks' Garrison Consistently Inconsistent

News: After going on a recent three-game scoring streak in early January, Jason Garrison is now pointless in his last five games.
Analysis: There are inconsistent defensemen in fantasy hockey, and then there is Jason Garrison. Despite being inconsistent, Garrison has still managed to put up 26 points in 51 games this season. He has produced good overall totals, but his streaking and slumping tendencies make him tough to deal with in fantasy hockey. It would also be nice to see more goals from Garrison, as he has only scored five times in 51 games.

Canucks' Garrison Scores In Loss

News: Jason Garrison scored his fifth goal of the season in Tuesday's loss to Pittsburgh. It was his first goal in 13 games.
Analysis: Jason Garrison now has a point in back-to-back games and is up to 25 points in 45 games on the season. He is streaky, but he still has solid totals on the year.

Canucks' Garrison Nabs Assist In Loss

News: Jason Garrison picked up a power-play assist in Sunday's loss to the Ducks. It was only his second point in ten games.
Analysis: Not only is Jason Garrison slumping offensively, he is struggling defensively, going minus-5 over his past five games. He is streaky, but still has 24 points in 44 games on the season. He is a big minute-muncher in Vancouver, averaging over 25 minutes of ice time in his last five games. He is also a key power-play contributor, as 11 of his 24 points have come with the man advantage.

Canucks' Garrison Slumping Again

News: Jason Garrison only has one point in his last nine games and has gone minus-2 in that span.
Analysis: Jason Garrison has been notoriously streaky this season, making him tough to deal with in fantasy hockey. He opened the season with nine points in ten games, but then went on a 14-game scoring drought. Before this recent slump, Garrison had been on a mid-November to mid-December terror, collecting ten points in 13 games. He puts up good point totals, but still only has four goals on the year, a far-cry from his career-high of 16, set in 2011-2012 with the Florida Panthers.

Canucks' Garrison Back On Scoresheet

News: Jason Garrison ended a three-game scoring drought on Friday, assisting on a Zack Kassian goal in a shootout win over the Hawks.
Analysis: Despite the recent drought, Jason Garrison has been a solid fantasy contributor this season, leading all Canucks defensemen with 23 points in 38 games.

Canucks' Garrison Tallies Three Assists In Win

News: Jason Garrison had three assists during the Canucks' 4-0 win over the Oilers on Friday.
Analysis: It was a very strong game for the defenseman, who made some nice plays to clear the zone and start the rush the other way. He had a four-game point streak going up until Monday when he failed to register a goal or an assist against the Hurricanes, but he has picked things back up in style here. It was his third multi-point game over his last five.

Canucks' Garrison Extends Point Streak

News: Jason Garrison extended his point streak to four games on Sunday, assisting on a Mike Santorelli goal in a win over Colorado.
Analysis: Jason Garrison now has a whopping 10 points over his past eight games. There may not be a hotter defenseman in the league right now. He has also put 12 shots on goal over his past three games and has been seeing over 22 minutes of ice time per game. You know what to do.

Garrison Scores On Power Play In Friday's Win

News: Jason Garrison scored on the power play, his fourth goal of the season, during the Canucks' 3-2 overtime win over the Coyotes on Friday.
Analysis: Jason Garrison's goal came less than two minutes into the game to put the Canucks' ahead nice and early. The defenseman is really starting to pick up his offensive play again as he now has seven points (two goals, five assists) over his last five games. With 18 points in 31 games this season, he's proving to be quite the force at the blue line.
