Wild Send Cuma To Houston

News: Tyler Cuma has been placed on waivers in order to be sent to Houston (AHL), Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Assuming he goes unclaimed, Tyler Cuma will continue to add organizational depth with the Aeros this season. He's been cleared to play after working his way back from a knee injury.

Wild's Cuma (Foot) Could Be Out A Month

News: Tyler Cuma (broken foot) could miss a month, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Tyler Cuma, the Wild's first-round pick in the 2008 entry draft, was brought up at the tail end of last season and finally made his first appearance in an NHL game. The 23-year-old could need about a month to recover from his latest ailment.

Cuma Called Up To Wild

News: The Wild have recalled Tyler Cuma from AHL Houston for the final days of the regular season, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: This may be partly to give the former first-rounder (2008) an audition for a spot next season but also because the team has been bitten by the injury bug lately. Don't expect much scoring from Tyler Cuma, as he carries just a 0-9-9 line in 68 games for Houston this season.

Wild's Cuma Was Considered For Callup

News: Tyler Cuma was set to be recalled to Minnesota for Thursday's game against Phoenix, but couldn't make his flight, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: It's not clear if he'll be called up for Sunday's game since he would have been a last-second replacement for a sick Jared Spurgeon. Still, this shows he may get a trial with the Wild in the final few weeks of the season. The 2008 first-round pick has just seven points in 57 games for Houston of the AHL.

News: Tyler Cuma has been re-assigned to Houston of the AHL.
Analysis: The 2008 first-round pick is working his way back from last year's torn ACL. He looks back to full strength, but the Wild will likely want him to spend time in the AHL to get back to full speed.

Wild's Cuma Back From Knee Injury

News: Tyler Cuma (knee) was on the ice for 10:16 and was a minus-two in Tuesday's preseason win over Edmonton. He's coming back from a torn ACL in Febuary. "There's a lot of scar tissue and clicking. But strength wise and mobility, it feels like it was before," the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The 2008 first-round pick has had major knee injuries in 2009 (sprained MCL) and 2011 that have hurt his development. It looks like he'll be healthy to start the season, but likely starts out at Houston of the AHL.

Wild's Cuma Tears ACL In Minor League Game

News: Cuma suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during Sunday's game, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Cuma will undergo surgery and is expected to be out about six months. The latest setback, coupled with his previous injury issues, will make it very difficult for him to break camp with the Wild when the 2011-12 season begins.

Minnesota Prospect Cuma Injured Again

News: Cuma, who has been playing for AHL Houston, injured his left ACL on Sunday, Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Wild's 2008 first-round pick continues to be plagued by injuries. Since being drafted, Cuma (who entered Sunday's game with four points in 31 contests) has suffered three knee injuries, an elbow injury, and a stress fracture to his foot. Suffice to say, he's out indefinitely.

Wild assign prospect Cuma to OHL

News: The Minnesota Wild have assigned D Tyler Cuma to Ottawa of the Ontario Hockey League. The 19-year-old was Minnesota's first-round pick in 2008 and is coming off a left knee injury in February. He is fully healed, but will return to Ottawa to continue his development.
Analysis: Cuma is a good two-way defenseman with plenty of offensive upside. He is a good skater that can move the puck but is not a strong scorer. Cuma remains just a long-term Fantasy keeper.

Wild sign top prospect Cuma

News: The Minnesota Wild have signed last year's first-round draft pick Tyler Cuma to an entry-level contract. Cuma's deal was announced Friday. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound defenseman is taking part this week in a prospects camp with other players in the Wild organization.
Analysis: The 19-year-old was the 23rd overall selection last summer, and the native of Toronto has played the past three seasons at the junior level for Ottawa in the Ontario Hockey League. The Wild already have seven defensemen signed to one-way NHL contracts. If Cuma doesn't make the team out of training camp, his deal will delay and he will return to his junior team. He is a good two-way defenseman with plenty of offensive upside. He is a good skater that can move the puck but is not a strong scorer. Cuma remains more of a long-term Fantasy keeper.
