Jets Return Mannino To The AHL

News: Peter Mannino returns to the AHL's Icecaps to make room for Chris Mason on Friday, Ken Wiebe of the Winnepeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Peter Mannino only played one period of one game in Chris Mason's absence, but saved all four shots he faced. Ondrej Pavelec and Mason have established themselves well above Mannino.

Jets Recall Mannino

News: The Jets recalled Peter Mannino from St. John's of the AHL on Saturday, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Peter Mannino will serve as Ondrej Pavelec's backup with Chris Mason dealing with a groin injury. Mannino has just two career starts to his name, but he could see some spot action if Pavelec (.863 save percentage, 4.19 goals-against average) is unable to turn things around.

Jets Send Mannino To AHL

News: Peter Mannino was reassigned to the St. John's IceCaps of the AHL on Tuesday, the Jets' official site reports.
Analysis: Peter Mannino was impressive in 2009-10, when he posted a .921 save percentage and 2.34 goals-against average for the AHL's Chicago Wolves. Unfortunately, his GAA ballooned to 3.12 with the same club last year. Perhaps he will find some consistency with the new affiliate belonging to the reborn Jets.

Thrasers Send Mannino to AHL

News: Mannino has been sent to the AHL, reports Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Analysis: Mannino is deep depth for the Thrashers, spending most of the year in the AHL and being called up in emergencies.

Thrashers Recall Mannino

News: The Thrashers recalled Mannino from AHL Chicago on Monday, Ben Wright of the Thrashers' official site reports.
Analysis: With Ondrej Pavelec still nursing an undisclosed injury, Mannino will give Atlanta another available netminder. He has a 3.02 goals-against average and a .896 save percentage in 35 AHL games this season.

Thrashers' Mannino Sent Down

News: Mannino was sent to AHL Chicago by the Thrashers on Friday, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: Mannino was sent down to get some extra work in over the All-Star Break. He should return to Atlanta shortly after the break.

Mannino Recalled By Thrashers

News: Mannino has been recalled by the Thrashers, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: He'll serve as the backup to Ondrej Pavelec while Chris Mason recovers from a lower body injury. Mannino is 12-10-2 over 27 games with Chicago (AHL) this season, but he's posted a 3.09 GAA and .896 save percentage after much better numbers (2.34 GAA, .921 save percentage) in his first campaign with the Wolves last season. The extent of Mason's injury is unclear at this time, so there's no way to know just how long Mannino will be with the big club.

Thrashers Reassign Mannino to AHL

News: The Thrashers reassigned Mannino to AHL Chicago on Thursday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Chris Vivlamore reports.
Analysis: Ondrej Pavelec is back with the team, so Mannino is no longer needed. He'll likely stick in the minors unless more injury emergencies arise.

Mannino Still With Thrashers

News: Updating previous reports, Mannino is still with the Thrashers in a backup role to Chris Mason.
Analysis: This isn't likely to last long at all, as Ondrej Pavelec is simply on a conditioning assignment and is due back soon. Mannino only has 38 NHL minutes so far this season, and that isn't likely to change in the near future.

Pavelec Activated, Mannino Re-Assigned To Minors

News: Mannino was sent back to the Chicago Wolves on Monday, allowing the team to activate Ondrej Pavelec from injured reserve.
Analysis: Mannino was not a viable fantasy option during his call up, and will remain a non-factor for the duration of this year.

Mannino Fills In For Mason In Thrashers' Loss To Lightning

News: Mannino filled in for Chris Mason to start the second period against the Lightning Tuesday after Mason allowed three goals on 16 shots in the first frame.
Analysis: Mannino stopped 15 of 16 shots in the final two periods of the game and looked solid. However, he is still little more than a fill-in at this point and should be back in the minors when Ondrej Pavelec returns from his rehab assignment.

Mannino Called Up by Thrashers

News: Mannino was promoted to the Thrashers' roster Monday, examiner.com reports, while Drew MacIntyre was sent to the AHL.
Analysis: Mannino was expected to be called up over the weekend, but an illness kept him in AHL Chicago. He'll back up Chris Mason while Ondrej Pavelec recovers from a scary fainting incident Friday.

Mannino leaves Isles for Thrashers

News: The Thrashers agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent defenseman Joel Kwiatkowski, forward Jason Krog, and goalies Drew MacIntyre and Peter Mannino Monday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Analysis: Mannino spent most of the 2008-09 season with Bridgeport of the AHL but made three appearances with the Islanders. He posted a 1-1-0 record with a 4.51 GAA and .885 save percentage. However, he did have a 40-save win against the Blackhawks March 15. With the addition of Dwayne Roloson, Mannino's chances of making the Isles' roster were slim. He could emerge as a backup in Atlanta or start the season in the minors. But he likely won't be a starter in the NHL and can be ignored in Fantasy.

Mannino hands win to Carolina

News: Islanders G Peter Mannino received plenty of offensive support Friday against the Hurricanes, but faltered down the stretch as Carolina stole a 5-4 win. Mannino trailed 2-0 heading into the second before New York scored four unanswered goals. Tuomo Ruutu was able to cut the lead to one with 54 seconds left in the second. Matt Cullen then scored a power-play at 13:22 of the third to tie the game and Chad LaRose scored his second goal at 15:39, which stood as the game winner. Mannino made 32 saves in the loss.
Analysis: Mannino earned another start Friday after posting a 4-2 victory Sunday against the Blackhawks. He looked pretty good Friday until he lost his cool down the stretch. Mannino is hanging around until Joey MacDonald recovers from a knee injury. He has very little Fantasy value since he could be back in the minors shortly. The Islanders TG is a low-end Fantasy option.

Mannino stuns Hawks in first start

News: New York Islanders goalie Peter Mannino got all the shots he wanted in his first NHL start. Mannino made 40 saves, and defenseman Mark Streit had two power-play goals and an assist, leading the Islanders to a 4-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday. Mannino, making just his second career appearance, stopped Martin Havlat, Ben Eager and Patrick Kane on partial breakaways. Chicago had a 42-19 shots advantage. "I felt good right away," Mannino said. "Chicago is an unbelievable offensive team I wanted to get out the nerves as much as possible and stay focused. When you get a lot of shots, it helps, especially if you're not letting them in right away."
Analysis: The Blackhawks kept Mannino busy, but only Kane and Kris Versteeg beat him. Versteeg scored the Blackhawks' first goal on their 26th shot. But Mannino held his ground, and the Islanders dealt Chicago its second straight loss and fourth in five games. Mannino learned that he would start Sunday morning. "He had some big saves," coach Scott Gordon said. "He stopped guys on breakaways. Give him credit. It's a tough situation. He hasn't had a lot of practice time because of the schedule on the road. To go into a building with 22,000 people, it's obviously a great thing for him." Mannino made his NHL debut in November, playing 13 minutes in relief of Joey MacDonald in a 7-2 loss at Boston. On Sunday, MacDonald missed his third straight game because of a knee injury he sustained Tuesday in Toronto. Mannino was backed up by Yann Danis. Mannino could be back in the minors shortly, so despite the big win, he has little Fantasy appeal at this time. The Islanders TG is still a low-end Fantasy option.

Mannino back up with Isles

News: The Islanders have called up G Peter Mannino from the AHL.
Analysis: Mannino has been up a couple of times this season and is not worth owning in any Fantasy leagues as the Islanders' third goalie option.

Mannino called up in emergency

News: Islanders G Peter Mannino was called up in an emergency as the Islanders are without goalies Rick DiPietro and Joey MacDonald who are out with injuries. The Islanders are however bringing in Wade Dubielewicz from Russia who will likely replace Mannino in the lineup in the coming week.
Analysis: Don't worry about Mannino getting called up to the big leagues because he's not staying. Continue to leave him on waivers.

Mannino makes 1st NHL appearance

News: Islanders G Peter Marrino made his first NHL appearance Friday, replacing Joey MacDonald in a 7-2 loss to the Bruins. Marrino allowed three goals on eight shots.
Analysis: Marrino replaced Yann Danis as the Isles' backup earlier this month, but he won't last long in the NHL if he continues to play like this. Continue to ignore him in all formats.

Islanders bring up Mannino

News: The Islanders have called up G Peter Mannino from Bridgeport of the AHL.
Analysis: Mannino will back up Joey MacDonald for the time being and has no Fantasy value unless he somehow gets thrust into a starting role.
