Isles' Tavares A Finalist For The Hart Trophy

News: John Tavares has been named a finalist for the Hart Trophy, according to Newsday.
Analysis: John Tavares had 38 goals and 86 points this season, missing the NHL scoring title by a single point. Tavares is the Islanders only true goal scorer and played with revolving wings throughout the season so he will get serious consideration for this award but in the end it may be to hard to pass on Alexander Ovechkin as scoring 53 goals in this day and age is just extremely impressive.

Tavares Helps Lead Isles To Game 6 Win

News: John Tavares had a goal and assist in Saturday's Game 6 win over the Capitals. He opened the scoring seven minutes into the game and set up the winner.
Analysis: He now has six points in six games and is the reason the winning goal was scored. There was a bit of a shoving match going on in between the two benches and he gathered the puck up and took off up the middle. He tried to split the defenders and was bowled over by two Caps before he could get the shot off. The puck squirted to a teammate, who set up Nik Kulemin who wrapped it in while those two Caps were still in the corner with John Tavares.

Isles' Tavares Nets Game-Winner In Overtime

News: John Tavares scored the game-winning goal 15 seconds into overtime in Sunday's Game 3 win over the Capitals.
Analysis: After being limited to just two shots on goal combined in the first two games of the series, John Tavares rounded back into form with four tries on net, and played the hero for the Isles in Game 3. He's collected a point in each of the three games and will need to continue that kind of production in order to grab a 3-1 series lead in Long Island on Tuesday.

Tavares Gets Two Points In Isles' So Loss

News: John Tavares goes into the postseason on a six-game, 12-point scoring streak after he scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's loss to Columbus. He has four goals and eight assists in that span.
Analysis: His 86 points aren't enough to win the Art Ross -- Jamie Benn took that title with a four-point effort (87 points) Saturday. But John Tavares has something Benn doesn't and that's a postseason berth. Tavares' fantasy value just continues to climb.

Isles' Tavares Lighting Up Scoresheet

News: John Tavares collected another three points Tuesday against the Flyers, scoring his 36th goal to go along with two assists and a plus-2 rating despite a 5-4 loss.
Analysis: As the playoffs approach, John Tavares is in full-on superstar form, having racked up a patently ridiculous nine points in the last four games. Oh, and with 83 points on the year, he's now tied with Sidney Crosby atop the NHL.

Isles' Tavares Heating Up Again

News: John Tavares scored a goal and contributed an assist Thursday against the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: That's five points in the last two games for the suddenly white-hot John Tavares, who'd managed only a goal and an assist over the prior eight contests. With 79 points to his credit, he's now just one back of Sidney Crosby for the NHL lead.

Isles' Tavares Picks Up Three Assists

News: John Tavares picked up three assist in Sunday's win over the Red Wings.
Analysis: A clutch performance from John Tavares, who moves into second in the NHL scoring race with 77 points in 77 games. He's producing in almost all fantasy categories and remains one of the league's most lethal threats. With 261 shots on goal, 12 power-play markers and seven-game-winners, make sure Tavares is in your lineup every game.

Tavares Snaps Slump, But Isles Still Fall

News: John Tavares scored his first goal in six games Tuesday, but that was the extent of the Isles' offense in a 2-1 shootout loss to Minnesota.
Analysis: It was his first legit point in that six-game span, too, as his assist on Saturday (the only other point he managed over that stretch) came on an empty-net goal. Nonetheless, John Tavares is already sitting on a career-high goal mark (34) and has a very good chance to meet or exceed his career-best 81 points, so there's no reason not to have him in your lineup.

Isles' Tavares Gets Back On Board

News: John Tavares set up Kyle Okposo's empty-net goal in the third period of Saturday's 3-0 victory over the Devils.
Analysis: The Islanders generally go as John Tavares goes, so it's no surprise that when the star center failed to record a point over the last four games, the team lost all those matches while collectively producing four goals during that time. The team was able to get back into the win column Saturday, however, so we could begin to see Tavares return to the steady scoring clip he's been producing at prior to the downturn. Continue to keep Tavares active in anticipation of his inevitable reemergence.

Isles' Tavares Nets Game-Winning Goal

News: John Tavares netted the game-winning overtime goal and also added an assist in Monday's 4-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: John Tavares is on fire, notching three straight multi-point games with three goals and four assists in that span. The 24-year-old's 33 goals are already a personal-best, and a new career high in points should follow as he's just nine away from his 81-point mark from the 2011-12 season.

Isles' Tavares: 19 Points In Last 11 Games

News: John Tavares scored a goal and added two assists in Saturday's SO loss to the Panthers. He has 19 points, including eight goals, in his last 11 games.
Analysis: It was a landmark night for Johnny T, who moved one point ahead of Alexander Ovechkin for the league lead in points with 70. You know what to do.

Isles' Tavares Gets Two More Points

News: John Tavares notched a goal and an assist while going plus-1 with two penalty minutes Thursday in a 4-3 road win over Nashville.
Analysis: A well-rounded effort for John Tavares, who's now provided 40 PIM on the season -- a nice bonus to complement his point-per-game scoring pace. It's no secret that he's one of the best; roll him out and enjoy.

Isles' Tavares Gets 30th Goal Of Season

News: John Tavares netted his 30th goal of the season in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Hurricanes. He has a modest three-game, three point (one goal, two assists) streak and 14 points, including six goals, in his last nine games.
Analysis: He's now one goal shy of matching his career mark and he continues to deliver at a point-per-game pace. There's no doubt where he needs to be.

John Tavares, C, NYI Isles' Tavares Continues Assault Saturday

John Tavares

Isles' Tavares Continues Assault Saturday

News: John Tavares picked up another two assists -- giving him 11 points in the last five games -- in Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Capitals.
Analysis: Does anyone else smell the faint fragrance of a Hart or an Art Ross trophy off in the distance? J.T. has totally put the Islanders on his back since Kyle Okposo (upper body) played his last game Jan. 19, racking up a marvelous 21 points over a 15-game span. Yes, John Tavares is a consensus first-round pick in most fantasy leagues, so his point-per-game production (62 in 60 thus far) isn't anything groundbreaking, but owners have to be thrilled with his recent surge. His 29 goals are two shy of his career high, so he'll definitely set a new career high there, too, as well as challenge his career-best 81 points he piled up in 2011-12. You simply can't go wrong with that.

Isles' Tavares On Four-Game Goal Streak

News: John Tavares scored a goal for the fourth consecutive game -- this time on a power play -- and added an assist Thursday against Nashville.
Analysis: He's racked up nine points in these four games -- five of them goals. And John Tavares is now just one short of his career high in power play points (25). You know what to do.

Goals In Three Straight For Isles' Tavares

News: John Tavares found twine for the third consecutive game Tuesday, notching an empty-net goal and a power-play assist in a 4-1 win over Carolina.
Analysis: That's seven points and a plus-3 rating over the last three for John Tavares, who'd actually been in a bit of a slump before that, with just three points in the prior seven games. But you can't keep the guy down for long -- he's one of the best, after all.

Tavares' Four-Point Night Leads Isles To Win

News: John Tavares scored two goals and added two assists in Saturday's 6-3 win over Columbus.
Analysis: The game was actually tied at threes after two periods, so things were a lot closure than it seems. But as he often does, JT just picked up the Isles and slung them over his back. He has 26 goals and 29 helpers for 55 in 56 games. #nobrainer.

Isles' Tavares Nets Power-Play Marker

News: John Tavares scored a power-play goal in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Boston.
Analysis: He now has 50 points in 52 games; 21 of those points have come with the man advantage. Activate him and forget about him.

Isles' Tavares Delivers Strong Effort In Loss

News: John Tavares scored a goal on a season-high nine shots and added an assist Thursday in a loss to Boston.
Analysis: Unfortunately, aside from the two second-period goals their star factored into, the Isles couldn't muster much on offense, and their defensive effort was not strong. Nonetheless, John Tavares remains red-hot, with a five-game point streak in which he's got four goals and five assists.

Isles' Tavares Lights Up All-Star Game

News: John Tavares scored four goals in the 2015 NHL All-Star Game at Nationwide Arena in Columbus on Sunday.
Analysis: While it was Blue Jackets' Ryan Johansen (two goals, two assists) who was named the All-Star MVP, John Tavares was easily the most dominant player out there. While the goals won't count in fantasy, it was just another fantastic outing for Tavares, who entered the break red-hot, recording six points in his last three games. With 21 goals and 45 points in 46 games, Tavares needs to be in your lineup when he returns to NHL action Tuesday vs. the Rangers. One thing to note, however, is that his talented linemate Kyle Okposo will miss 6-8 weeks with an upper-body injury. While the loss will hurt the Isles, Tavares should keep producing at close to a point-per-game pace. His production might drop a tad, but we wouldn't worry, as he can make things happen all on his own.

Isles' Tavares Grabs Two Points In Win

News: John Tavares picked up a power play goal and an assist in Monday's 7-4 win over the Flyers.
Analysis: John Tavares is on fire right now as he's picked up seven points in his last three games and has turned in six multi-point efforts in his last nine games. With 46 points through 46 games the 24-year-old has reached the rate of a point-per-game, and should continued to be rolled out there every night.

Isles' Tavares Adds Two More Points

News: John Tavares collected a goal and assist and attempted eight shots in Saturday's loss to the Canadiens.
Analysis: That's three multi-point games in his last five for John Tavares, who is now just shy of a point-per-game pace for the season. There's no doubt he's one of the game's elite centers, and with linemates Kyle Okposo and Josh Bailey continuing to thrive, Tavares figures to remain extremely productive.

Isles' Tavares Assist Thrice In Win Over Pens

News: John Tavares assisted on three of Kyle Okposo's four goals in Friday's win over the Penguins.
Analysis: Even after going two straight games without a point, John Tavares still has 10 points (four goals) in his last seven games. The 24-year-old now has 19 goals and 42 points in 44 games on the season, helping the Islanders become the first team to 30 wins. This fantasy stud needs to be in your lineup every night he's in action.

Tavares Powers Isles Past Devils

News: John Tavares netted a pair of goals, including the overtime winner, dished out an assist, and recorded five shots on goal Friday against New Jersey.
Analysis: After scoring the game-winning goal, John Tavares celebrated by doing the traditional "Yes Yes Yes" chant done by Islanders fans after every goal. Although he went pointless Tuesday night in Vancouver, Tavares still has four goals and seven points in his last four games. The 24-year-old now has 39 points (19 goals) in 41 games on the season. With five game-winning goals, 121 shots on goal, and five power-play tallies, do we really need to tell you what to do with this all-around fantasy stud?

Isles' Tavares Silenced In Loss

News: John Tavares went plus-1 and won 10 of 14 faceoffs in Tuesday's loss to Vancouver, but was held scoreless and didn't so much as put a shot on goal in his 21:36 of ice time.
Analysis: A startlingly unproductive game from the star center, who was coming off consecutive multi-point efforts. It's exceedingly rare for John Tavares to be held without a shot -- that's happened just three times all year. Look for him to bounce back Friday in New Jersey.
