Isles' Tavares Lights Up All-Star Game

News: John Tavares scored four goals in the 2015 NHL All-Star Game at Nationwide Arena in Columbus on Sunday.
Analysis: While it was Blue Jackets' Ryan Johansen (two goals, two assists) who was named the All-Star MVP, John Tavares was easily the most dominant player out there. While the goals won't count in fantasy, it was just another fantastic outing for Tavares, who entered the break red-hot, recording six points in his last three games. With 21 goals and 45 points in 46 games, Tavares needs to be in your lineup when he returns to NHL action Tuesday vs. the Rangers. One thing to note, however, is that his talented linemate Kyle Okposo will miss 6-8 weeks with an upper-body injury. While the loss will hurt the Isles, Tavares should keep producing at close to a point-per-game pace. His production might drop a tad, but we wouldn't worry, as he can make things happen all on his own.

Isles' Tavares Grabs Two Points In Win

News: John Tavares picked up a power play goal and an assist in Monday's 7-4 win over the Flyers.
Analysis: John Tavares is on fire right now as he's picked up seven points in his last three games and has turned in six multi-point efforts in his last nine games. With 46 points through 46 games the 24-year-old has reached the rate of a point-per-game, and should continued to be rolled out there every night.

Isles' Tavares Adds Two More Points

News: John Tavares collected a goal and assist and attempted eight shots in Saturday's loss to the Canadiens.
Analysis: That's three multi-point games in his last five for John Tavares, who is now just shy of a point-per-game pace for the season. There's no doubt he's one of the game's elite centers, and with linemates Kyle Okposo and Josh Bailey continuing to thrive, Tavares figures to remain extremely productive.

Isles' Tavares Assist Thrice In Win Over Pens

News: John Tavares assisted on three of Kyle Okposo's four goals in Friday's win over the Penguins.
Analysis: Even after going two straight games without a point, John Tavares still has 10 points (four goals) in his last seven games. The 24-year-old now has 19 goals and 42 points in 44 games on the season, helping the Islanders become the first team to 30 wins. This fantasy stud needs to be in your lineup every night he's in action.

Tavares Powers Isles Past Devils

News: John Tavares netted a pair of goals, including the overtime winner, dished out an assist, and recorded five shots on goal Friday against New Jersey.
Analysis: After scoring the game-winning goal, John Tavares celebrated by doing the traditional "Yes Yes Yes" chant done by Islanders fans after every goal. Although he went pointless Tuesday night in Vancouver, Tavares still has four goals and seven points in his last four games. The 24-year-old now has 39 points (19 goals) in 41 games on the season. With five game-winning goals, 121 shots on goal, and five power-play tallies, do we really need to tell you what to do with this all-around fantasy stud?

Isles' Tavares Silenced In Loss

News: John Tavares went plus-1 and won 10 of 14 faceoffs in Tuesday's loss to Vancouver, but was held scoreless and didn't so much as put a shot on goal in his 21:36 of ice time.
Analysis: A startlingly unproductive game from the star center, who was coming off consecutive multi-point efforts. It's exceedingly rare for John Tavares to be held without a shot -- that's happened just three times all year. Look for him to bounce back Friday in New Jersey.

Isles' Tavares Collects Two Assists

News: John Tavares collected two assists and recorded five shots on goal in Sunday's loss to Edmonton.
Analysis: John Tavares now has five goals and nine points in his last seven games, giving him 36 points (17 goals) in 39 games on the season. The 24-year-old has been an all-around fantasy stud this season, scoring eight power-play goals, three game-winners, and recording 116 shots on goal. On pace for a career-high 35 goals, Tavares is an automatic roll every game.

Tavares Powers Isles' Attack Friday

News: John Tavares netted two goals -- including the game-winner -- in Friday's victory over the Flames.
Analysis: John Tavares' first goal came eight minutes into the first period, finishing off a power-play opportunity for his 16th goal of the season. He would claim No. 17 in the third period, giving him four goals in his two career games in Calgary. The center remains tied for 19th in the league in scoring this season, but with 34 points in 38 games, it's not as though he's seen a dramatic dip in his production from previous campaigns.

Isles' Tavares Finds Net Twice In Loss

News: John Tavares netted two goals on six shot attempts in Saturday's loss to the Sabres.
Analysis: With 15 goals and 16 assists over 35 games, John Tavares isn't quite producing at a point-per-game clip, but he's more or less justified the lofty expectations placed on him on draft day. The six shots Tavares attempted Saturday was his second-highest total of the season, aiding him to his first multi-point outing since Nov. 22.

Isles' Tavares Takes Puck To Ear

News: John Tavares left the game early Saturday after taking a puck to the ear, according to Newsday.
Analysis: John Tavares needed a few stitches to close the wound but is not in any danger of missing Tuesday's game versus Montreal.

Tavares Notches 13th Goal For Isles

News: John Tavares scored his 13th goal of the season in Saturday's win over Tampa Bay.
Analysis: He's on track for a 30-goal season. He's behind his scoring pace from the past few seasons and has just six points in his last 10 games. He hasn't had a two-point game since Nov. 22. It's hard to sit him, but we've been expecting more.

Isles' Tavares Extends Point Streak To Three

News: John Tavares found the net on one of his three shot attempts in Thursday's loss to the Blues.
Analysis: With a goal or assist in three straight contests, John Tavares continues to chug along at just under a point-per-game pace on the season. He's only had two multi-point showings since opening the campaign with four of that variety, but there's something to be said about the fact that he's never had more than a two-game scoring drought.

Isles' Tavares: Three-Game Streak

News: John Tavares picked up an assist Saturday and in doing so, he extended his current point streak to three games and three points. He has 23 points in 24 games.
Analysis: Slow and steady wins the race and this guy has every chance to do just that. Or come close to it anyway. He has a 90-point season in him; it just might not be this season.

Isles' Tavares: First Multi-Point Game Since Nov 5

News: John Tavares had his first multi-point game since Nov. 5 on Saturday night. He scored a goal and added an assist in a 4-1 win over Pittsburgh.
Analysis: He still has 20 points in as many games, but multi-point efforts have been hard to come by. That won't stop us from rolling him out there every game we can. #nhlstud.

Isles' Tavares Snipes OT Winner

News: John Tavares sniped a pair of goals, including the overtime winner, in Wednesday's 3-2 decision over Anaheim.
Analysis: John Tavares and Co. capitalized on the absence of Ducks superstars Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf, who both sat out with the flu. JT now has six goals and 14 points in 12 games this season, and he should keep rolling up about a point per game all year long.

Isles' Tavares Dishes Two In Win

News: John Tavares picked up two assists and scored the game-winning goal in the shootout Thursday against the Sharks.
Analysis: That's why he's the star. John Tavares has delivered multi-point efforts in all four games to stat the year, giving him an amazing nine points in the early going. As long as he avoids injury, he's in for a huge season -- perhaps his best yet.

Isles' Tavares On Fire Early

News: John Tavares scored a goal and handed out an assist in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Rangers.
Analysis: John Tavares has opened the season with three consecutive multi-point games, piling up two goals and five assists. It's no coincidence that the Isles are 3-0 on the year.

Isles' Tavares: Two More Points

News: John Tavares was the game's first star on Saturday when he helped the Islanders to a 4-3 win over the Hurricanes. He scored a power-play goal, added an even-strength assist and even picked up a roughing minor.
Analysis: The goal was his first of the season, but he has five points in his first two games. He just turned 24 and the best is yet to come, and that's saying something considering he scored at a point-per-game pace at age 21. You know what to do.

Isles' Tavares Records Three Assists In Opener

News: John Tavares dished out three assists -- two on the power play -- in Friday's season-opening win over the Hurricanes.
Analysis: A terrific start for John Tavares, who appears fully healthy after missing 22 games last season with a knee injury. The Isles' recent blue line acquisitions of Johnny Boychuk and Nick Leddy will only help Tavares as the season progresses. If Tavares remains healthy, there is no reason he can't reach 80-plus points in 2014-15. What a way to kick off the season.

Isles' Tavares Returns For Final Two Exhibitions

News: John Tavares played in the Islanders' final two preseason contests and looks to be at full health entering the regular season.
Analysis: John Tavares entered training camp coming off the season-ending torn MCL and meniscus that he sustained in last February's Winter Olympics, but he did not require surgery and was able to recover completely over the summer. While it remains to be seen who the Islanders will tab for the left wing on the Tavares line, the center showed a strong rapport last season with right winger Kyle Okposo, who broke out with 27 goals and 42 assists over 71 games. Tavares should be able to get the most out of anyone who joins him on the top line, and if health permits, it's well within his ability to surpass his previous career-high of 81 points in a season.

Isles' Tavares Is Healthy Once Again

News: Taveres has completely recovered from his knee injury, according to the Islanders Point Blank.
Analysis: John Tavares was injured during the Olympics and missed the rest of the regular season but general manager Garth Snow stated Wednesday that if the Islanders were in the playoffs Tavares would be good to go. Tavares is one of the best goal scorers in the game and should once again be taken at the top of fantasy drafts next season.

Isles' Tavares Cleared To Skate

News: John Tavares (knee) has been medically cleared to begin skating again Monday, according to the Islanders Point Blank.
Analysis: John Tavares tore his MCL and meniscus during the Olympics and missed the remainder of the NHL season. He did not have to undergo surgery but instead has been rehabbing the injury. The star forward should be at full strength will before next season begins.

Islanders' Tavares Won't Need Knee Surgery

News: John Tavares -- who suffered a torn MCL and torn meniscus during the Sochi Olympics -- will not need surgery to repair his knee, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Though the injury was a season-ender for John Tavares, the fact that he will avoid surgery is a positive development. The report indicates that Tavares is looking at an eight-to-12-week rehab/recovery period, a timetable that should enable him to enter training camp in good health.

Isles' Tavares Placed On IR

News: John Tavares (knee) was officially placed on injured reserve Monday.
Analysis: It's merely a formality after John Tavares was ruled out for the season after sustaining tearing his MCL and meniscus during the Olympics. A player of Tavares' caliber is simply irreplaceable for the Islanders, and the absence of their star could drastically diminish the production of linemates Thomas Vanek and Kyle Okposo.

Isles' Tavares Out For Season With Torn MCL

News: John Tavares (knee) will miss the rest of the season after an MRI revealed a torn MCL and torn meniscus, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Consider John Tavares' injury Exhibit A for why organizations would prefer their players not take part in international tournaments. Tavares' season-ending injury is a crippling blow to fantasy owners and probably, a death knell to the Islanders' fleeting playoff hopes. It hasn't been determined yet whether the center will require surgery on the knee, but the expectation is that he will be at full health for training camp in September. In any case, it's an extremely disappointing setback for Tavares, who was enjoying the best season of his career with 66 points in 59 contests.
