Jackets To Scratch Connauton

News: Kevin Connauton is in line to serve as a healthy scratch Wednesday against the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: The return of Ryan Murray from a lower-body injury Wednesday appears to have cost Kevin Connauton a lineup spot. After being scooped up off waivers in early November, Connauton shined early for the Blue Jackets with five goals and four assists in his first 15 games with the team, but since then, he's provided the same amount of points in 38 contests.

Jackets' Connauton Will Play Tuesday

News: Kevin Connauton (foot) will rejoin the lineup Tuesday against the Hurricanes, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Kevin Connauton declared himself fit to play after Monday's practice and the team apparently felt the same way, as he slotted back in on the Jackets' third defensive pairing during Tuesday's morning skate. The blueliner missed the team's last six games after being struck in the foot during a Feb. 24 loss to the Sabres.

Jackets' Connauton (Lower Body) Ready To Return

News: Kevin Connauton (lower body) is ready to return and could dress Tuesday against the Hurricanes.
Analysis: It sounds as though Kevin Connauton is pretty healthy and is likely to return to the linuep Tuesday. The blueliner has 15 points in 39 games with the Blue Jackets this season, adding 12 penalty minutes.

Jackets' Connauton Ruled Out Saturday

News: Kevin Connauton (foot) will not play Saturday against the Avalanche.
Analysis: Kevin Connauton was able to get in a skate Saturday morning, but the Blue Jackets aren't yet comfortable bringing him back into the lineup. He'll likely need to start practicing with the rest of the team in the next couple of days to have a shot at playing Tuesday against the Hurricanes.

Jackets' Connauton Out Friday, Could Play Saturday

News: Coach Todd Richards said that while Kevin Connauton (foot) has been ruled out from playing Friday against the Devils, he could be ready to go for Saturday's game against the Avalanche.
Analysis: Kevin Connauton will sit out his fifth straight game Friday. The blueliner returned to the ice for practice Thursday, but probably needs at least one more session with the team before the coaching and training staff sign off on his placement in the lineup. Since Saturday's game will be the second in as many days for the Blue Jackets, it's likely the team will bypass a morning skate and not announce a verdict on Connauton's status for the contest until pregame warmups.

Jackets' Connauton Likely Won't Play For A Week

News: Coach Todd Richards said after Saturday's morning skate that Kevin Connauton (foot) likely wouldn't play for another week, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Assuming that timetable holds through the start of next week, Kevin Connauton will miss at least the next three games while he recovers from the foot injury. The Blue Jackets will lean on some combination of Cody Goloubef, Dalton Prout, and Jordan Leopold to cover for Connauton's absence.

Jackets' Connauton Likely Out For Weekend

News: Kevin Connauton (foot) is expected to miss both of the Blue Jackets' weekend games against the Devils and Penguins, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Kevin Connauton has yet to get back on the ice since hurting his foot in Tuesday's loss to the Sabres. The Blue Jackets are still considering him day-to-day, but it looks like his next realistic chance at playing won't come until this coming Tuesday against the Capitals.

Jackets' Connauton Dealing With Sore Foot

News: Kevin Connauton is questionable for Thursday's game against the Canadiens due to a sore foot, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Kevin Connauton is still hurting a bit after taking a puck off his foot in the third period of Tuesday's loss to the Sabres. The Blue Jackets will check back in on Connauton's condition at Thursday's morning skate before reaching a verdict on his status.

Jackets' Connauton Bags Goal In Loss

News: Kevin Connauton bagged his eighth goal of the season in Tuesday's loss to the Sabres.
Analysis: Kevin Connauton's goal total ranks seventh on the team and second among blueliners behind David Savard (nine). Even so, Connauton's fantasy value seems to be falling since his hot December. He's mustered only two points thus far in February, and has six points over his last 24 games.

Jackets' Connauton To See Time At Forward Tuesday

News: Kevin Connauton appears set to slot in as a forward on the Jackets' fourth line during Tuesday's game against the Coyotes.
Analysis: The Blue Jackets had been carrying three extra defensemen as their healthy scratches, but with Matt Calvert (illness) out Tuesday, Kevin Connauton will be tasked with masquerading as a forward. He's shown some unexpected scoring touch while working with James Wisniewski on the club's second pairing this season, but he may have a difficult time generating offense while skating on the checking line.

Jackets' Connauton Set To Play Thursday

News: Kevin Connauton (illness) will play Thursday against the Panthers.
Analysis: Kevin Connauton was absent from Wednesday's practice due to the illness, but the Blue Jackets were never seriously concerned that he'd be forced to sit out Thursday's game. He verified that he was healthy enough by taking part in the Jackets' morning skate, enabling him to reclaim his lineup spot on the second pairing next to James Wisniewski.

Jackets' Connauton Skips Practice With Illness

News: Kevin Connauton skipped Wednesday's practice with an illness but is expected to play Thursday against the Panthers, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: It appears Kevin Connauton will still be cleared to travel with the team to South Florida, with his condition likely to be revisited during Thursday's morning skate. Connauton has been a fantastic addition for the Blue Jackets since being claimed off waivers in November, notching seven goals and six assists over 26 games with his new squad.

Goals Still Coming For Jackets' Connauton

News: Kevin Connauton notched a goal on one of his three shot attempts in Wednesday's loss to the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: The defenseman has been a tremendous asset for the Blue Jackets since being plucked off waivers Nov. 18. He's tallied seven goals in 21 games with his new team, after totaling only one across his previous 44 NHL games.

Blue Jackets' Connauton Extends Points Streak

News: Kevin Connauton extended his points streak to two games with a two-point effort against Minnesota on Wednesday.
Analysis: Kevin Connauton now has five points in his past two games, including a plus-4 rating with five shots on goal. While the former third-round pick definitely possesses some offensive talent, he won't keep up this pace in Columbus for long, which is now at nine points in 15 games, including five goals. He scored just once in 44 games with Dallas before moving to Columbus. He's a short-term play for his hot streak and nothing more.

Jackets' Connauton Lights Lamp, Dishes Out Two

News: Kevin Connauton delivered his finest outing as a Blue Jacket on Saturday, assisting twice and netting the game-winning goal in a 6-2 triumph over the Bruins.
Analysis: After setting up Scott Hartnell for the Jackets' first two scores, Kevin Connauton nabbed the team's third goal on a shot from distance that goalie Niklas Svedberg failed to track. Acquired by Columbus off waivers on Nov. 18, Connauton seems to have found a home on a regular pairing with James Wisniewski. He's averaging 16:17 TOI and has four goals and seven points over 14 games with his new team.

Connauton Contributes Another Goal For Jackets

News: Kevin Connauton scored his second goal with the Jackets on Thursday, potting the game-tying tally with 9:01 remaining in an eventual 3-2 overtime win against Washington.
Analysis: Two days after potting his first goal with Columbus, Kevin Connauton decided he liked it so much, he'd try another. Although he again played very limited minutes for a defenseman -- 16:49 -- Connauton has been getting some regular run on the Jackets' power play, so he's worth an add in deeper formats.

Jackets' Connauton Pots OT Winner

News: Kevin Connauton scored his first goal with Columbus in overtime Tuesday, sending his team to a 3-2 win over the Flyers.
Analysis: He'd gone scoreless in his first six games since joining the Jackets, but picked a fine moment to deliver his first goal since Dec. 16, 2014. Kevin Connauton's still playing limited minutes, though -- just 16:50 in this one, which was actually his second-highest ice total since the Jackets claimed him off waivers from Dallas.

Blue Jackets Claim Connauton Off Waivers

News: The Blue Jackets claimed Kevin Connauton off waivers from the Stars on Tuesday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: Kevin Connauton was seeing only minimal playing time for the Stars, so the team decided to place him on waivers, and the injury-depleted Blue Jackets decided to snap him up. It remains to be seen what type of role he will fill for his new squad.

Stars' Connauton On The Outside Looking In

News: Kevin Connauton has only been suited up eight times this season and has been a healthy scratch the last four games.
Analysis: Despite the trade of Sergei Gonchar and troubles on the blue line, Kevin Connauton hasn't been able to work his way into regular time. You'll want to wait until you see him earn the trust of management before you add him to your roster.

Connauton To Sit Third Straight For Dallas

News: Kevin Connauton will be a healthy scratch for the third straight game Monday against the Jets, according to Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News.
Analysis: Kevin Connauton had consistently been getting the nod over Aaron Rome since the Olympic break, but it appears that coach Lindy Ruff is going with Rome for the time being because of the physical nature of his game.

Connauton Adds Assist In Dallas Loss

News: Kevin Connauton had an assist and a minus-1 rating through 16:12 of ice time in Saturday's loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: Kevin Connauton continues to be Coach Ruff's pick over Aaron Rome on D for the time being. Even so, it's not clear yet that he's going to be in the lineup every night. It may be best to look elsewhere for your team.

Connauton In Lineup For Stars

News: Kevin Connauton looks as though he'll be a part of the third D pairing in Thursday's game against the Hurricanes, according to Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News.
Analysis: Kevin Connauton is slowly carving out a role for himself in the lineup. He was getting the nod over Aaron Rome regularly prior to the break and it looks as if little has changed. Nonetheless, Connauton's upside is very limited. His minutes are generally under 15 and he's not getting any on special teams.

Stars' Connauton Finding Role

News: Kevin Connauton has a goal and six assists in 25 games this season.
Analysis: The young blueliner began the season in the AHL, but has been in the lineup pretty consistently over the past couple months. Expect his role to stay the same when the games resume after the break.
