Sabres' Deslauriers: Three-Game Point Streak

News: Nicolas Deslauriers bagged a goal in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Sharks.
Analysis: The bottom-six forward has a three-game point streak going, but since he's attempted just one shot on goal in each of those contests, it wouldn't seem to be worthwhile to read to much into the surge in production. Nicolas Deslauriers instead carries most of his value in the form of PIM (28 in 20 games) and hits (66).

Sabres' Deslauriers To Hear From NHL

News: Nicolas Deslauriers was given a match penalty for spearing Vladimir Tarasenko in the groin Tuesday and will have to speak with the NHL's Department of Player Safety.
Analysis: Any match penalty means the player is automatically suspended from play until the NHL hands down a ruling for additional discipline. Given that this is Nicolas Deslauriers' first offense, the NHL may simply fine him rather than suspend him, but it was a cheap shot play that could've been avoided, and the rough-and-tumble Deslauriers plays the game with a definite edge. He's not a fantasy-relevant player so his suspension shouldn't make many ripples in leagues.

Sabres' Deslauriers Contributes First Point In Win

News: Nicolas Deslauriers potted the game-winning goal in Saturday's 2-1 upset victory over the Sharks.
Analysis: As a fourth-liner mostly tasked with checking, Nicolas Deslauriers typically isn't asked to generate offense, but he happened to be in the right place at the right time Saturday, slapping a rebound past goalie Alex Stalock for the winning tally. It was the first point of the season for Deslauriers, who will offer most of his fantasy contributions in the form of penalty minutes (11 in nine games) and hits (25).

Sabres' Deslauriers In Good Standing For Opener

News: Nicolas Deslauriers appears likely to make the Sabres' Opening Night roster, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Patrick Kaleta's injury created an opening for a grinder on the Sabres' fourth line, and it looks like Nicolas Deslauriers will be asked to fill that void. He'll pile up some hits and penalty minutes if he ends up sticking in the role, but his minimal offensive contributions and an ugly plus/minus rating will drain most of his value.

Sabres Ink Deslauriers To Two-Year Deal

News: Nicolas Deslauriers agreed to an two-year, $1.275 million NHL deal with the Sabres on Monday, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Nicolas Deslauriers' contract will pay him the same salary in the NHL or AHL, but he is not waiver exempt, meaning the Sabres could potentially lose him if they attempt to assign him to the minors. Deslauriers, a defenseman turned winger, was acquired along with prospect Hudson Fasching from the Kings. He skated in 17 games for the injury-depleted Sabres and notched just one goal, but new general manager Tim Murray obviously liked enough of what he saw to give Deslauriers a standard NHL contract.

Sabres Recall Deslauriers

News: Nicolas Deslauriers was recalled for the Sabres' season finale on Sunday, John Vogl of The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Nicolas Deslauriers will get a chance to add to his one career goal in Sunday's season finale. He will also get another chance to audition for the Sabres for the 2014-15 season, but will likely continue in his role as a fringe player.

Sabres Reassign Deslauriers

News: The Sabres reassigned Nicolas Deslauriers to AHL Rochester on Wednesday, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Nicolas Deslauriers recorded a goal and nine PIM in 16 games with the Sabres after being acquired from the Kings at the trade deadline. He'll return to the AHL, where he racked up 18 goals and 21 assists in 60 games with AHL Manchester before being traded.

Sabres' Deslauriers Pots First Career Goal

News: Nicolas Deslauriers scored the first goal of his NHL career in Friday's 3-2 loss to Detroit.
Analysis: Acquired in a trade from the Kings, Nicolas Deslauriers switched from defense to forward earlier this season and became an offensive force for the AHL Manchester Monarchs. The Sabres like Deslauriers' size and have given him pretty consistent playing time since his arrival. Though he's not a big offensive contributor yet, that he's starting to score is a good sign for the late bloomer.

Sabres' Deslauriers Available Thursday

News: Nicolas Deslauriers (personal) will be available Thursday against the Blues.
Analysis: Nicolas Deslauriers missed Tuesday's game due to the birth of his child, but there's a decent chance he'll draw back in, with at least three of the Sabres' other forwards nursing injuries.

Sabres' Deslauriers Out Tuesday

News: Nicolas Deslauriers will miss Tuesday's game against the Devils as his wife had a baby Monday, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Analysis: The Sabres acquired Nicolas Deslauriers in a deadline deal with the Kings, and he's still looking for his first NHL point after 12 games of action with Buffalo. He's already back with the team, so we expect to see him back out there soon.

Sabres' Recall Deslauriers On Emergency Basis

News: The Sabres recalled Nicolas Deslauriers on an emergency basis Friday, the Olean Times Herald reports.
Analysis: Nicolas Deslauriers, who was recently acquired from the Kings, was summoned after fellow forwards Zemgus Girgensons and Chris Stewart suffered injuries Thursday night. Deslauriers is a big player who recently switched from defense to forward and has enjoyed a lot more offensive success as a result. The former third-round pick was second in scoring for AHL Manchester before getting dealt along with prized prospect Hudson Fasching. No word on which line Deslauriers will play on, or if he will even dress, but he certainly brings some size and skill to the lineup. Until he earns a regular spot in the lineup, his value is minimal.

Deslauriers Heads To Sabres

News: Nicolas Deslauriers was sent by the Kings to the Sabres along with Hudson Fasching in exchange for Brayden McNabb, Jonathan Parker and a pair of second-round draft picks, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: Nicolas Deslauriers, who was formerly a blueliner, has been playing forward for AHL Manchester, where he notched 39 points in 60 games prior to Wednesday's deal. Buffalo will reach down to the farm with the departures of Matt Moulson and Cody McCormick, and Deslauriers might get a look. The big forward brings some size and offense, but is unlikely to make a significant impact for the Sabres.

Kings Ink Defensive Prospect Deslauriers

News: The Kings have signed Deslauriers to a three-year contract, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Deslauriers was the Kings' third-round selection of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. The playmaking defenseman has spent four seasons with the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL, a junior league.
