Kuemper's Relief Effort Not Enough For Wild

News: Darcy Kuemper (upper body) was summoned to action in the second period of Saturday's Game 2 against Colorado after starter Ilya Bryzgalov allowed three goals. Kuemper stopped all 14 shots he faced, but the Wild were unable to dig out of an early hole and fell, 4-2.
Analysis: When the series moves to Minnesota for Game 3, he'll likely get the nod as long as he's anywhere near healthy enough to go.

Wild's Kuemper Will Back Up Bryzgalov Saturday

News: Darcy Kuemper (upper body) has been tabbed as Saturday's backup to Ilya Bryzgalov, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper practiced Tuesday for the first time in two weeks and, after sitting out Game 1, it appears he's feeling well enough to serve as Bryzgalov's backup Saturday. The move means John Curry will move back to third goalie.

Wild's Kuemper Won't Be Available For Game 1

News: The Wild will go with John Curry as the backup to Ilya Bryzgalov for Game 1 against the Avalanche, meaning Darcy Kuemper (upper body) will be in the press box Thursday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. "Kuemper is feeling a lot better, just not at a place yet where we feel comfortable playing him."
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper practiced Tuesday for the first time in two weeks, so he could still need a few more workouts to round back into form. He enjoyed top billing on the Wild's depth chart before the injury, but it seems likely Yeo will roll with Bryzgalov as his No. 1 goalie throughout the playoffs.

Wild's Kuemper Practices Tuesday

News: Darcy Kuemper (upper body) practiced Tuesday for the first time since March 31, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Since Darcy Kuemper's had been off the ice for over two weeks, it's probably more likely than not that John Curry will get the call to back up Ilya Bryzgalov in Game 1. However, even once healthy, Kuemper may be the second goalie on the Wild's depth chart, considering the way Bryzgalov played at the end of the regular season.

Wild's Kuemper Not Expected Back Until Playoffs

News: Coach Mike Yeo said after Sunday's practice that he expects Darcy Kuemper (upper body) will be ready to play by the time the playoffs start, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: With that being said, it's Darcy Kuemper's availability during the final handful regular season games that is probably of more importance to fantasy owners, and it still looks questionable that we'll see Kuemper in goal during the final week. Ilya Bryzgalov has been playing well since stepping in for Kuemper and might enter the playoffs as the Wild's No. 1 goalie even if Kuemper proves himself healthy.

Wild's Kuemper (Upper Body) Out Thursday

News: Darcy Kuemper (upper body) will not play Thursday against Chicago, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Wild called up John Curry from AHL Iowa to back up Ilya Bryzgalov. It's not clear when Darcy Kuemper will be able to return.

Wild's Kuemper Suffers Upper-Body Injury

News: Darcy Kuemper sustained an upper-body injury during Monday's morning skate and will miss Monday's tilt with the Kings, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: It was originally reported that Darcy Kuemper would sit out due to an illness, but it turns out he suffered an upper-body injury as well. Rob Laurie was signed on an emergency basis to back up Ilya Bryzgalov in place of Kuemper on Monday night. Consider Kuemper day-to-day until more information is available about the nature of his injury.

Wild's Kuemper Out Monday

News: Darcy Kuemper will miss Monday's game against the Kings, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Wild stated that Darcy Kuemper will sit out due to illness, but there were also reports of the netminder favoring his arm after practice. We likely won't hear anything else on the situation until after Monday's game, but it would be wise to keep an eye out for a status update. Ilya Bryzgalov will get the start in Kuemper's place Monday night, but the team has not announced who will handle the backup duties yet.

Blues Light Up Wild's Kuemper

News: Darcy Kuemper allowed five goals on 24 shots in Thursday's loss to St. Louis -- his fourth straight defeat.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper's given up 14 goals over these four games -- and it likely would've been more if not for him getting pulled Wednesday against Vancouver -- so things aren't going great for him lately. Going back further, he's allowed three or more goals in six of his last eight starts.

Wild's Kuemper In Goal Thursday

News: Darcy Kuemper will receive the starting nod Thursday against the Blues, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: After opening his rookie season on an impressive note upon being recalled in January, Darcy Kuemper has since fallen back to earth in his recent turns. He's lost four consecutive decisions, including an early pull after allowing three goals in Wednesday's defeat to the Canucks. Should his struggles persist, he could lose out on future starts to Ilya Bryzgalov.

Wild Pull Kuemper At Second Intermission

News: Darcy Kuemper was pulled at the start of the third period Wednesday after he allowed three goals on 12 shots through the first two frames.
Analysis: It was the first time since January 30 that Darcy Kuemper did not finish a game he started, and his backup didn't fare much better. Ilya Bryzgalov allowed two goals on seven shots in the third, leaving Kuemper with his seventh loss of the season.

Wild's Kuemper Will Start Wednesday

News: Darcy Kuemper will get the call between the pipes Wednesday against the Canucks.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper has proven to be a solid option in net this season, amassing a 12-6-4 record over 24 appearances. He's gone winless in his last three, but will look to turn things around against a Canucks team that will be without top line center Henrik Sedin (leg).

Wild's Kuemper Comes Up Short Saturday

News: Darcy Kuemper surrendered three goals on 30 shots Saturday, as Detroit handed the Wild just their eighth regulation home loss of the season by a score of 3-2.
Analysis: The rookie is now 1-3-2 in his last six starts after rattling off six wins in a row between February 4 and March 3. The Wild have battled big-time adversity between the pipes this season, dealing with long-term injuries to both Niklas Backstrom and Josh Harding, who was the best goalie in the league before being sidelined again by his multiple sclerosis. Veteran Ilya Bryzgalov -- who was acquired at the trade deadline as insurance in case Backstrom and Harding remain sidelined -- has been decent in his three starts with the Wild, posting a 1-0-2 record with a .931 save percentage and 2.00 GAA. With another goaltending debate brewing in the State of Hockey, you'll probably want to avoid Darcy Kuemper until he gets back on track.

Wild's Kuemper Gets Saturday Start

News: Darcy Kuemper will be in the crease for Saturday's matchup against the Red Wings, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper is just 2-4 in March after closing February on a four-game win streak, but will look to get back on track Saturday when he squares off against Jimmy Howard of the Red Wings.

Wild's Kuemper Lets In Three In Loss

News: Darcy Kuemper made 25 saves on 28 shots in a loss to the Bruins on Monday.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper has taken the loss in four of his last five starts, but he still has a .923 save percentage and 2.22 GAA, so his play hasn't been an issue.

Wild Go With Kuemper On Monday

News: Darcy Kuemper will draw the start in goal Monday vs. the Bruins, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper has been rock-solid his last two turns, holding the Rangers to one goal on 30 shots in a victory Thursday and taking a one-goal shootout loss to the Blue Jackets on Saturday. The Bruins will represent a stiffer test for Kuemper to keep his hot play going.

Wild's Kuemper Between The Pipes Saturday

News: Darcy Kuemper will be between the pipes when the Wild take to the ice on Saturday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper stopped 29 of 30 shots in Thursday's win over the Rangers. The netminder has been solid all year for Minnesota, and will look to continue where he left off Thursday when he takes the ice against the Jackets on Saturday.

Wild's Kuemper: 28 Saves In SO Loss

News: Darcy Kuemper made 28 saves in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets on Saturday night.
Analysis: The winner in the shootout was controversial -- it appeared to go in on a rebound. But video replay showed Darcy Kuemper had never touched the first shot thus making it a legal goal. He is just 1-1-2 in his last four starts, so the door may be open a crack for the Wild to use their backup goalie Ilya Bryzgalov next game.

Kuemper Stops 29 As Wild Slip By Rangers

News: Darcy Kuemper allowed one goal on 30 shots in Thursday's 2-1 victory over the Rangers.
Analysis: He more than held his own against opposing netminder Cam Talbot, getting back on track after two straight losses. It's been a surprise to many, the way Darcy Kuemper's played this year, but his big numbers are no mirage -- he's put up similar production at the AHL level, with a .929 save mark this year and a .934 last year.

Wild's Kuemper In Goal Thursday

News: Darcy Kuemper will draw the start in goal Thursday vs. the Rangers, Rachel Blount of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper has taken the loss in his last two outings, with his save percentage falling below .900 on both occasions. His overall numbers on the season remain rather strong, but given his limited track record at the NHL level, there's serious questions as to whether or not he can maintain his production the rest of the way.

Kuemper, Wild Lose In Shootout

News: Darcy Kuemper stopped 23 of 26 shots through regulation and overtime, then took a shootout loss to visiting Edmonton on Tuesday.
Analysis: That's a couple iffy outings -- consecutive 4-3 losses -- in a row for Darcy Kuemper, who was about due for some kind of course correction after starting off red-hot. He'll likely start and look for better results Thursday against the offensively inconsistent Rangers.

Wild Return To Kuemper

News: Darcy Kuemper is slated to square off against Viktor Fasth and the Oilers on Tuesday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper returns to the Minnesota net Tuesday after giving way to Ilya Bryzgalov in Sunday's shootout loss to the Blues.

Kuemper Makes 34 Saves In Minny Loss

News: Darcy Kuemper made 34 saves in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Dallas.
Analysis: He couldn't hold off an inspired Dallas team who turned up the heat after Eric Haula injured their goalie Kari Lehtonen in an avoidable crease collision. Still, he's proving to be a solid NHL starter with a bit of additional upside. Use well.

Wild's Kuemper To Start Again Saturday

News: Darcy Kuemper will get the start Saturday against the Stars, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper could lose some starts to new acquisition Ilya Bryzgalov, but Kuemper is rolling right now, and head coach Mike Yeo will give him his 16th straight start Saturday night. Kuemper will have his work cut out for him Saturday against a Stars squad that scored six goals its last time out and has averaged 3.4 goals per game since the Olympic break.

Wild's Kuemper Stops 21 In Win

News: Darcy Kuemper made 21 saves on 23 shots in a win over the Flames on Monday.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper is the last man standing in Minnesota for the moment, but he's made the most of it. He's won five games in a row, letting in no more than two goals in a game. With Josh Harding's health issues, Kuemper could be a big time fantasy contributor down the stretch, though the Wild are also thought to be making some trade inquiries around the league as well.
