Wild's Kuemper To Serve As Backup Tuesday

News: Darcy Kuemper (upper body) will back up Ilya Bryzgalov in Tuesday's Game 6 against the Blackhawks, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper, who started 25 regular season games for the Wild, last suited up on April 30, when he suffered an upper-body injury in the third period of Game 7 of the team's first-round series triumph over the Avalanche.

Wild's Kuemper Could Serve As Backup Tuesday

News: Darcy Kuemper (upper body) is a candidate to back up Ilya Bryzgalov on Tuesday against the Blackhawks, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper last suited up on April 30, but it looks like he has progressed to the point where he could serve as the team's backup goalie as soon as Tuesday's Game 6.

Wild's Kuemper Not Skating Friday

News: Darcy Kuemper (upper body) was kept off the ice Friday, Fox Sports North reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper had been skating the past week which looked to open the door to him being available as the team's backup. However, it doesn't sound like he's ready to return in the next few days.

Wild's Kuemper Takes The Ice

News: Darcy Kuemper (upper body) skated Tuesday.
Analysis: As coach Mike Yeo noted, it's a step in the right direction for the goalie, but Darcy Kuemper is still not ready to join the team's lineup. As a result, Ilya Bryzgalov will continue to man the Wild's net as the team's second-round series against Chicago continues with Tuesday's Game 3.

Wild's Kuemper (Upper Body) Day-to-Day

News: Darcy Kuemper (upper body) has not traveled to Chicago for Friday's Game 1 versus the Blackhawks, but is considered day-to-day moving forward, the Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper left Wednesday's Game 7 triumph during the third period and was replaced by Ilya Bryzgalov, who closed out regulation and overtime. With Kuemper still being examined by the Wild medical staff, Bryzgalov is expected to start Game 1 against Chicago on Friday evening. However, Kuemper being listed as day-to-day preserves a chance for him to reclaim his starting position later in the series.

Wild's Kuemper Exits In Third Period

News: Darcy Kuemper left Wednesday's Game 7 with 8:13 remaining in the third period due to an apparent injury, the teams' official site reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper went straight to the locker room with his Wild trailing 4-3, appearing to have been noticeably shaken up. If the Wild manage to come back and win Wednesday's deciding game, his status may be in question for the following series. Ilya Bryzgalov will finish this one out for the Wild.

Wild's Kuemper Stops 21 In Win

News: Darcy Kuemper made 21 saves on 23 shots in a Game 6 win over the Avalanche on Monday.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper bounced back after his first loss in the series to force a Game 7. This will determine whether or not Kuemper will have any more fantasy value this postseason.

Wild's Kuemper Earns Another Start

News: Darcy Kuemper will be in the net for Monday's Game 6 against the Avalanche, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: After seeing a total of 33 shots in Games 3 and 4, Darcy Kuemper was pummeled for 35 shots in Saturday's Game 5 loss, letting in four tallies. Coach Mike Yeo will stick with Kuemper over Ilya Bryzgalov in any case, with Kuemper picking up the team's only two wins in the series to date.

Wild's Kuemper Faces Just 12 Shots In Game 4 Win

News: The Avalanche put just 12 shots on Darcy Kuemper in Thursday's Game 4, and he stopped 11 of them for a 2-1 win to even the series.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper's drawn both the Wild's home dates and come away with wins in each, with a major "thank you" to his offense and defense -- Minnesota's outshot the Avs by a ridiculous 78-34 margin in those two games. Hopefully, Kuemper brought a magazine to the net with him in this one to fend off boredom.

Wild's Kuemper To Start Thursday

News: Darcy Kuemper will start Thursday against Colorado in Game 4 of the Wild's first-round playoff series, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: After an overtime shutout in Game 3, Darcy Kuemper is likely to get every start the rest of the playoffs for the Wild over Ilya Bryzgalov.

Wild's Kuemper Blanks Avalanche

News: Darcy Kuemper stopped all 22 shots he faced in an overtime victory against the Avalanche in Monday's Game 3.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper has stopped every shot he's faced since replacing Ilya Bryzgalov in net, which means that Kuemper will likely get the chance to start the rest of the way.

Wild Turn To Kuemper On Monday

News: Darcy Kuemper will start Monday's game against the Avalanche.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper, who took over for Ilya Bryzgalov in Saturday's loss to the Avs, appears past his upper body injury and will be making his first start for the team since March 27, with the Wild down 2-0 in their first-round playoff series.

Kuemper's Relief Effort Not Enough For Wild

News: Darcy Kuemper (upper body) was summoned to action in the second period of Saturday's Game 2 against Colorado after starter Ilya Bryzgalov allowed three goals. Kuemper stopped all 14 shots he faced, but the Wild were unable to dig out of an early hole and fell, 4-2.
Analysis: When the series moves to Minnesota for Game 3, he'll likely get the nod as long as he's anywhere near healthy enough to go.

Wild's Kuemper Will Back Up Bryzgalov Saturday

News: Darcy Kuemper (upper body) has been tabbed as Saturday's backup to Ilya Bryzgalov, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper practiced Tuesday for the first time in two weeks and, after sitting out Game 1, it appears he's feeling well enough to serve as Bryzgalov's backup Saturday. The move means John Curry will move back to third goalie.

Wild's Kuemper Won't Be Available For Game 1

News: The Wild will go with John Curry as the backup to Ilya Bryzgalov for Game 1 against the Avalanche, meaning Darcy Kuemper (upper body) will be in the press box Thursday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. "Kuemper is feeling a lot better, just not at a place yet where we feel comfortable playing him."
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper practiced Tuesday for the first time in two weeks, so he could still need a few more workouts to round back into form. He enjoyed top billing on the Wild's depth chart before the injury, but it seems likely Yeo will roll with Bryzgalov as his No. 1 goalie throughout the playoffs.

Wild's Kuemper Practices Tuesday

News: Darcy Kuemper (upper body) practiced Tuesday for the first time since March 31, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Since Darcy Kuemper's had been off the ice for over two weeks, it's probably more likely than not that John Curry will get the call to back up Ilya Bryzgalov in Game 1. However, even once healthy, Kuemper may be the second goalie on the Wild's depth chart, considering the way Bryzgalov played at the end of the regular season.

Wild's Kuemper Not Expected Back Until Playoffs

News: Coach Mike Yeo said after Sunday's practice that he expects Darcy Kuemper (upper body) will be ready to play by the time the playoffs start, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: With that being said, it's Darcy Kuemper's availability during the final handful regular season games that is probably of more importance to fantasy owners, and it still looks questionable that we'll see Kuemper in goal during the final week. Ilya Bryzgalov has been playing well since stepping in for Kuemper and might enter the playoffs as the Wild's No. 1 goalie even if Kuemper proves himself healthy.

Wild's Kuemper (Upper Body) Out Thursday

News: Darcy Kuemper (upper body) will not play Thursday against Chicago, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Wild called up John Curry from AHL Iowa to back up Ilya Bryzgalov. It's not clear when Darcy Kuemper will be able to return.

Wild's Kuemper Suffers Upper-Body Injury

News: Darcy Kuemper sustained an upper-body injury during Monday's morning skate and will miss Monday's tilt with the Kings, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: It was originally reported that Darcy Kuemper would sit out due to an illness, but it turns out he suffered an upper-body injury as well. Rob Laurie was signed on an emergency basis to back up Ilya Bryzgalov in place of Kuemper on Monday night. Consider Kuemper day-to-day until more information is available about the nature of his injury.

Wild's Kuemper Out Monday

News: Darcy Kuemper will miss Monday's game against the Kings, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Wild stated that Darcy Kuemper will sit out due to illness, but there were also reports of the netminder favoring his arm after practice. We likely won't hear anything else on the situation until after Monday's game, but it would be wise to keep an eye out for a status update. Ilya Bryzgalov will get the start in Kuemper's place Monday night, but the team has not announced who will handle the backup duties yet.

Blues Light Up Wild's Kuemper

News: Darcy Kuemper allowed five goals on 24 shots in Thursday's loss to St. Louis -- his fourth straight defeat.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper's given up 14 goals over these four games -- and it likely would've been more if not for him getting pulled Wednesday against Vancouver -- so things aren't going great for him lately. Going back further, he's allowed three or more goals in six of his last eight starts.

Wild's Kuemper In Goal Thursday

News: Darcy Kuemper will receive the starting nod Thursday against the Blues, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: After opening his rookie season on an impressive note upon being recalled in January, Darcy Kuemper has since fallen back to earth in his recent turns. He's lost four consecutive decisions, including an early pull after allowing three goals in Wednesday's defeat to the Canucks. Should his struggles persist, he could lose out on future starts to Ilya Bryzgalov.

Wild Pull Kuemper At Second Intermission

News: Darcy Kuemper was pulled at the start of the third period Wednesday after he allowed three goals on 12 shots through the first two frames.
Analysis: It was the first time since January 30 that Darcy Kuemper did not finish a game he started, and his backup didn't fare much better. Ilya Bryzgalov allowed two goals on seven shots in the third, leaving Kuemper with his seventh loss of the season.

Wild's Kuemper Will Start Wednesday

News: Darcy Kuemper will get the call between the pipes Wednesday against the Canucks.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper has proven to be a solid option in net this season, amassing a 12-6-4 record over 24 appearances. He's gone winless in his last three, but will look to turn things around against a Canucks team that will be without top line center Henrik Sedin (leg).

Wild's Kuemper Comes Up Short Saturday

News: Darcy Kuemper surrendered three goals on 30 shots Saturday, as Detroit handed the Wild just their eighth regulation home loss of the season by a score of 3-2.
Analysis: The rookie is now 1-3-2 in his last six starts after rattling off six wins in a row between February 4 and March 3. The Wild have battled big-time adversity between the pipes this season, dealing with long-term injuries to both Niklas Backstrom and Josh Harding, who was the best goalie in the league before being sidelined again by his multiple sclerosis. Veteran Ilya Bryzgalov -- who was acquired at the trade deadline as insurance in case Backstrom and Harding remain sidelined -- has been decent in his three starts with the Wild, posting a 1-0-2 record with a .931 save percentage and 2.00 GAA. With another goaltending debate brewing in the State of Hockey, you'll probably want to avoid Darcy Kuemper until he gets back on track.
