Wild's Kuemper Relieves Dubnyk On Wednesday

News: Darcy Kuemper played the final 23:10 of Wednesday's 6-1 loss to the Blues. He stopped all nine shots he faced.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper has been the forgotten since returning from a lower-body injury in late January, logging only three appearances since that time in the wake of Devan Dubnyk's dominance. While Wednesday's game represented a rare poor showing from Dubnyk, who surrendered all six goals on just 17 shots, Kuemper isn't in any position to make a push for the No. 1 gig. Expect Mike Yeo to continue to start Dubnyk for every game of the Wild's postseason run.

Wild's Kuemper A Scratch For Thursday

News: Darcy Kuemper (illness) will not be available for Thursday's playoff opener against the Blues, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper missed Wednesday's practice and Thursday's morning skate due to the illness, which will allow Niklas Backstrom to serve as the understudy to starter Devan Dubnyk for Game 1. Though Kuemper didn't travel with the Wild to St. Louis, he seems to be feeling better and should join the team Friday for practice. If he checks out well during the session, he'd likely be cleared to back up Dubnyk for Saturday's Game 2.

Wild's Kuemper Feeling Ill

News: Darcy Kuemper missed Wednesday's practice with an illness.
Analysis: Coach Mike Yeo said the illness could prevent Darcy Kuemper from being available to back up Game 1 starter Devan Dubnyk for Thursday's playoff opener against the Blues. If that's the case, Niklas Backstrom would step in to serve as Dubnyk's understudy.

Wild's Kuemper Sees Relief Duty Saturday

News: Darcy Kuemper played the final 20 minutes of Saturday's loss to the Blues, stopping eight of nine shots.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper ended the regular season with appearances in each of the Wild's last two games, but that was preceded by nearly a three-month absence in the net. During that time in between, Devan Dubnyk firmly cemented himself as not only the Wild's top goalie, but as one of the league's best netminders, as he finished the season second in the NHL in both GAA and save percentage. Even if the Wild makes a deep run through the postseason, it wouldn't be surprising if Kuemper never left the bench.

Wild's Kuemper Makes Triumphant Return

News: Darcy Kuemper was terrific in his return to the net Thursday, stopping 32 of 34 in a 4-2 win over Nashville.
Analysis: All he did in his first start since way back on Jan. 20 was outduel Pekka Rinne. A nice regular-season ending for Darcy Kuemper, but it remains to be seen what his role will be in the Minnesota organization going forward with the way the Wild have ridden Devan Dubnyk since acquiring him.

Wild's Kuemper Draws Thursday Start

News: Darcy Kuemper is slated to start Thursday's game against the Predators, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper, who will be making his first start since Jan. 6, will give Devan Dubnyk -- who has made 38 straight starts for the Wild -- a well-deserved breather in the team's next-to-last regular season game. Per the report, Dubnyk is expected to start Saturday's contest against St. Louis, but Kuemper merits consideration Thursday by those looking for an affordable goalie option in daily formats.

Wild's Kuemper Could Start Season Finale

News: Darcy Kuemper could start Minnesota's final regular-season game against St. Louis with the Wild having clinched a playoff spot, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper hasn't played since Jan. 20, with Devan Dubnyk having played every minute in net since then. Kuemper has been inactive most nights as the third goalie, but it looks like he'll finally see the light of day again before the regular season ends.

Wild's Kuemper Officially Recalled

News: Darcy Kuemper was officially recalled from AHL Iowa on Sunday and could start Tuesday, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper had to be recalled at some point before his conditioning stint ended Monday. It appears the team has decided to do so Sunday, and with back-to-back games on tap Monday and Tuesday, Kuemper may receive the start on the back end.

Wild's Kuemper Back In NHL By Monday

News: The Wild plan to recall Darcy Kuemper from his conditioning stint in AHL Iowa by Monday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: It's not clear how the Wild plan to use three goalies, but Darcy Kuemper and Niklas Backstrom will likely be limited to small backup roles with Devan Dubnyk taking over the starting role since coming to the Wild in a trade.

Kuemper Ready To Rejoin Wild

News: Darcy Kuemper is feeling good and is ready to rejoin the Wild in the near future, Chad Groff of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper was sent on a conditioning assignment last week, but appears to be ready to finally rejoin the club after missing nearly a month due to a lower-body injury. Players are allowed a maximum of two weeks on a conditioning stint, meaning Kuemper would be need to be added back to the roster by next Monday.

Wild's Kuemper Sent To AHL

News: Darcy Kuemper has been assigned to AHL Iowa on a conditioning stint, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper has started just one game since Jan. 6 due to a lower body injury. His move to the minors also solves a logjam at goalie after the team acquired Devan Dubnyk. Kuemper can stay in the AHL for two weeks while on the conditioning stint, and he may stay the full time while the Wild sorts out its goalie situation.

Wild's Kuemper Appears In Relief

News: Darcy Kuemper (lower body) replaced Devan Dubnyk in the second period of Tuesday's game, stopping a perfect 14 of 14, though he gave up goals on both shootout tries he faced to end up with the loss.
Analysis: Despite the poor shootout showing, Darcy Kuemper can be credited for keeping the Wild in the game while they mounted a third-period comeback, and he seems to be over that lower-body ailment. With Dubnyk having struggled in consecutive outings, Kuemper could find his way back into the net when the Wild return to action next Tuesday in Edmonton.

Wild's Kuemper To Suit Up As Backup On Tuesday

News: Darcy Kuemper (lower body) will back up Devan Dubnyk on Tuesday against the Red Wings, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: As a result, Niklas Backstrom is slated to be a healthy scratch as the Wild's third goalie. The report indicates that after Tuesday's game the Wild are considering sending Darcy Kuemper to AHL Iowa during the upcoming NHL All-Star break for a conditioning stint.

Wild's Kuemper Nears Return

News: Coach Mike Yeo indicated Monday that he thinks Darcy Kuemper (lower body) is healthy enough to play Tuesday against Detroit, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk will start his third consecutive game in goal for the Wild on Monday, with Niklas Backstrom slated to serve as his backup, but it's possible that Darcy Kuemper will be activated in advance of Tuesday's contest.

Kuemper Activated By Wild

News: The Wild have activated Darcy Kuemper (lower body) from IR.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk is in line to start his third straight game in goal for the Wild on Monday, with Niklas Backstrom slated back him up, but now that he is off IR, Darcy Kuemper is a candidate to start Tuesday against the Red Wings, according to Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Wild's Kuemper (Lower Body) Present For Skate

News: Darcy Kuemper (lower body) participated in the Wild's gameday skate Saturday morning, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper won't be activated from IR in advance of Saturday's game against the Coyotes, but his presence with the rest of the team at practice offers some hope that he might be able to return to the net before the All-Star break. After Saturday's tilt, the Wild will play again Monday against Columbus and Tuesday in Detroit prior to the break. If Kuemper is able to get in another strong practice or two in over the next couple of days, it's possible he'll receive clearance to play.

Wild's Kuemper (Lower Body) Starting To Skate

News: Darcy Kuemper (lower body) resumed skating Monday.
Analysis: Coach Mike Yeo said the goalie is scheduled to skate again Tuesday, but the team has no timeline for his return just yet. Team doctors will likely assess his condition after the next few days before offering a projected return date. In the meantime, Niklas Backstrom will continue to function as the Wild's No. 1 netminder.

Wild's Kuemper (Lower Body) Out At Least One Week

News: Coach Mike Yeo said Thursday that Darcy Kuemper would miss at least one week due to a lower-body injury, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Despite the team insisting that the injury Darcy Kuemper suffered in Wednesday's practice was minor, it will end up resulting in an IR stint for the young netminder. It's the first extended absence of the year for Kuemper, who has previously battled the stomach flu on a couple occasions, but no noteworthy injuries. In the interim, Niklas Backstrom is expected to take over as the Wild's No. 1 goalie, while the newly-recalled John Curry settles in as his backup.

Wild Place Kuemper On Injured Reserve

News: The Wild placed Darcy Kuemper (undisclosed) on injured reserve Thursday.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper suffered what was termed a "minor injury" during Wednesday's practice, but it turns out his setback is more serious than originally thought. Niklas Backstrom will serve as the Wild's primary goaltender, and John Curry will work as Backstrom's backup, until Kuemper is able to return.

Wild's Kuemper (Undisclosed) Out Thursday

News: Darcy Kuemper (undisclosed) will be out for "a little bit" according to head coach Mike Yeo after suffering an injury in practice on Wednesday.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper's injury was initially determined to be just a minor one, so it seems possible that he'll be able to return to action for the next game against Nashville on Saturday. The 24-year-old has given up four goals in back-to-back outings, but should be in line to get the start when he returns to full health.

Wild's Kuemper Suffers Minor Injury In Practice

News: Darcy Kuemper left the ice during Wednesday's practice with what coach Mike Yeo described as a "minor injury," Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper has started each of the last five games for the Wild and has given up a total of eight goals over his last two turns, so there would have been a high likelihood of him losing out on the next start to backup Niklas Backstrom in any event. Fortunately, it doesn't seem like the injury is anything worrisome, as the Wild have no plans to recall an extra goalie from the minors. Look for him to be available Thursday against the Blackhawks, even if he doesn't start.

Wild's Kuemper Allows Four In OT Loss

News: Darcy Kuemper gave up four goals on 26 shots Tuesday in an overtime loss to the Sharks.
Analysis: That's the second straight four-goal outing for Darcy Kuemper -- an unfortunate turn of events, coming as it does on the heels of a three-game stretch in which he looked to be rounding into form. He's better than this, but we're still waiting for him to show it. Amazingly, though, Tuesday represents his first overtime loss in 27 starts this season -- he's now 13-12-1.

Wild's Kuemper Looks To Get Back On Track Tuesday

News: Darcy Kuemper will start Tuesday's game against the Sharks, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper will look to get back on track after giving up four goals in less than two periods in his last start Saturday. He split two meetings with the Sharks earlier this season, picking up a 4-3 win on Oct. 30 and falling by a 2-1 tally on Dec. 11.

Wild's Keumper Chased In Blowout Loss

News: Darcy Kuemper got the yank Saturday after giving up four goals on 21 shots in a blowout loss to Dallas.
Analysis: After an amazing 34-save win Friday, Darcy Kuemper was a disaster Saturday, not even making it halfway through the game before getting pulled. Niklas Backstrom, who came in for Kuemper in relief, didn't fare much better against the resurgent Stars, giving up three goals on just 14 shots. Kuemper has been consistently inconsistent this season, often following up a great performance with a horrible one. With a 13-12-0 record, to go with a .904 save percentage and 2.63 GAA, the 24-year-old is still worth owning in some leagues. Kuemper has been pulled five times since November 5th, however, making it hard for us to trust him in shallow formats.

Wild Tab Kuemper For Saturday Start

News: Darcy Kuemper will be between the pipes Saturday against the Stars.
Analysis: After turning in a third straight above-average outing, Darcy Kuemper will earn the nod on back-to-back nights for the Wild. While Kuemper seems to be settling in right now, he's been prone to go from hot to cold seemingly without warning at times this season. Tread carefully with him in this start against Dallas, which ranks seventh in the league with 2.94 goals per game.
