Wild's Kuemper Strong Again

News: Darcy Kuemper made 26 saves in a 2-1 loss to the Lightning on Saturday night.
Analysis: It's his 10th win of the season. His ratios are strong and he's proving his mettle as a starting goaltender. In fact, his GAA entering play Saturday night was fifth-best in the NHL and his save percentage was just outside the top-10. He's worthy of activation whenever he's in the blue paint.

Wild's Kuemper Set To Start Saturday

News: Darcy Kuemper will be between the pipes Saturday against the Lightning, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper seems to have quieted the whispers about a potential demotion to the minors with an ongoing three-game winning streak, during which he's yielded just three total goals. However, Saturday's road tilt against the prolific Bolts attack will represent a stiff test in the goalie's attempt to extend the streak. Roll with him at your own peril.

Wild's Kuemper Confirmed To Start

News: Darcy Kuemper has been confirmed to start in goal Thursday against the Flyers.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper gave way to Niklas Backstrom for the start Sunday against the Jets, but still managed to earn a victory after stopping all three shots he faced in relief while the Wild offense tallied the go-ahead goal. Ray Emery is expected to receive the start in the opposite net.

Wild's Kuemper Saves 37 In Win

News: Darcy Kuemper picked up his third straight win Thursday, stopping 37 of 39 shots in a 3-2 triumph over the Flyers.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper hit the skids a little there after his white-hot start to the year, but he's righted the ship lately and has returned to being a steady start between the pipes.

Wild Expected To Start Kuemper On Thursday

News: Darcy Kuemper is expected to start in net Thursday against the Flyers, Andy Greder of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper stopped three shots in relief of Niklas Backstrom on Sunday, picking up his eighth win of the season. He will look to go the full 60 on Thursday, with a tough matchup ahead in the Blackhawks. Kuemper will enter the game sporting a 8-5-0 record with a 2.03 GAA and .914 save percentage.

Wild's Kuemper Picks Up Win In Relief

News: Darcy Kuemper stopped all three shots he faced after being inserted in the third period of Sunday's 4-3 overtime win against the Jets.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper didn't have to work particularly hard for his eighth win of the year, as he was on the ice for just over 10 minutes after Niklas Backstrom was pulled in the third period, but it counts just the same. After Backstrom picked up the slack with a win in relief on Thursday, it was Kuemper's turn to let him off the hook on Sunday. With Saturday's win also in his pocket, Kuemper's bounced back nicely after failing to record a save in Thursday's start.

Wild's Kuemper Earns Road Win

News: Darcy Kuemper was solid Saturday, stopping 27 of 28 shots in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Stars.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper has frustrated owners lately, losing four starts in a row -- including the disaster against Buffalo one game prior in which he was yanked after allowing two goals on two shots. Although Kuemper is resting in favour of Niklas Backstrom on Sunday, Saturday's victory on Dallas' ice should lengthen his leash slightly with coach Mike Yeo. Through 13 appearances this season, Kuemper is sporting a .913 save percentage and 2.06 goals-against average -- good for ninth overall in the league in that category.

Wild's Kuemper Receives Starting Nod Saturday

News: Darcy Kuemper will be between the pipes Saturday against the Stars, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: With the Wild playing back-to-back contests Saturday and Sunday, Darcy Kuemper and Nicklas Backstrom figure to split the starts, with Kuemper leading off. Backstrom's poor career numbers across the Stars likely influenced coach Mike Yeo's decision to go with Kuemper, but the second-year goalie hasn't done much to inspire confidence of late. He's gone winless in his last four starts and was pulled from Thursday's game against the Sabres after allowing goals on the first two shots he faced.

Wild Yank Kuemper After Disastrous Start

News: Darcy Kuemper was pulled just 6:24 into the first period after giving up goals on each of the first two shots he faced Thursday in an eventual win over the Sabres.
Analysis: Nicklas Backstrom delivered strong work in relief and the Wild put up plenty of offense, so Darcy Kuemper at least got off the hook. Nonetheless, it represents his fourth straight winless start, and he's given up 11 goals on just 76 shots (an .855 save percentage) in that span. That considered, the Wild may roll Backstrom out Saturday in Dallas. Josh Harding is nearing a return, too, so if Kuemper doesn't get his game together, he could conceivably find himself in the AHL soon.

Wild's Kuemper To Start Thursday

News: Darcy Kuemper will make the start in goal Thursday against the Sabres, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: The reeling Darcy Kuemper has lost three in a row, but showed improved performance in Tuesday's defeat to the Devils, yielding two goals on 22 shots. The matchup against the Sabres comes at a great time for Kuemper, who could stand to benefit from preying on a weak opponent to get back in the win column and regain some confidence.

Wild's Kuemper Stops 20 In Loss

News: Darcy Kuemper saved 20 of 22 shots in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Devils.
Analysis: A solid game for Darcy Kuemper, but he got outdueled by Cory Schneider for his third consecutive loss. Kuemper should see better results if he gets the start Thursday, as the Wild draw a home date against the sad-sack Sabres.

Wild Sticking With Kuemper On Tuesday

News: Darcy Kuemper will be between the pipes Tuesday against the Devils, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper hasn't been especially reliable in goal of late, losing three of his last five contests while supplying a .867 save percentage. Niklas Backstrom doesn't seem to be a serious challenger for the No. 1 role, but it would still behoove Kuemper to deliver a capable outing against the Devils, who rank 28th in the league with 26.7 shot attempts per game.

Wild's Kuemper Gives Up Four Goals

News: Darcy Kuemper gave up four goals on 30 shots in Saturday's loss at Montreal.
Analysis: After Darcy Kuemper's hot start to the season (three shutouts), he's struggled a bit with three or more goals allowed in four of his last five games. Perhaps losing Jared Spurgeon on the blue line is having an impact.

Wild's Kuemper Confirmed To Start Saturday

News: Darcy Kuemper has been confirmed as the starter in goal Saturday against the Canadiens, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper will match up against the Habs' Carey Price in what will mark his second career appearance against the Canadiens. The young netminder has scuffled in recent outings, but thanks to his extraordinary production earlier in the season, he's still sitting on a 1.77 GAA and .922 save percentage entering play Saturday.

Wild's Kuemper Expected To Start Saturday

News: Darcy Kuemper is expected to receive the starting nod Saturday against the Canadiens, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper was rested in favor of backup Niklas Backstrom during Thursday's loss to Ottawa, making it likely that he'll make his return to the crease for the Wild's next game. The young netminder has faded considerably since posting shutouts in three of his first four starts, as he's delivered sub-.900 save percentages in four out of his last five turns.

Kuemper, Wild Fall To Pittsburgh

News: Darcy Kuemper allowed three goals on 21 shots in Tuesday's loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: While the Wild outshot Pittsburgh 34-21, they were only able to penetrate backup netminder Thomas Greiss one time, and even that came after they were in a 3-0 hole. After a white-hot start to the campaign, Darcy Kuemper's cooled significantly -- he's posted sub-.900 save marks in four of his last five games. Still, he's a highly talented young netminder, and veteran Niklas Backstrom is not likely coming to take his job away.

Wild's Kuemper Gets The Nod Tuesday

News: Darcy Kuemper will start Tuesday's game against the Penguins, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper, who currently sits second in the league with a 1.62 GAA, will be going for his seventh victory of the season Tuesday night. As if fantasy owners needed more reason to start him, he and his Wild teammates will square off against Penguins backup Thomas Greiss on Tuesday, rather than regular goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury.

Wild's Kuemper Makes 19 Saves In Win

News: Darcy Kuemper made 19 saves on 20 shots in Saturday's win over the Stars.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper has won four of his last five games, giving up only 11 goals in that span. The 24-year-old is 6-2-0 on the season with an impressive .930 save percentage and 1.62 GAA. He is the man in Minnesota, leading the NHL with three shutouts. Kuemper is well on his way to career season.

Wild Roll With Kuemper On Saturday

News: Darcy Kuemper will man the net Saturday against the Stars, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: After notching shutouts in three of his first four turns of the season, Darcy Kuemper is beginning to lose some shine but is still sitting on elite ratios (1.71 GAA, .927 save percentage) over seven outings. His numbers could take another hit Saturday against a Stars squad that has an assortment of talent in its top-six forwards, but Kuemper should still remain a viable option in daily formats.

Kuemper, Wild Notch Shootout WIn

News: Darcy Kuemper allowed three goals on 28 shots, but ended up with a victory in the shootout Thursday against the Sharks.
Analysis: It wasn't quite a bounce back to the sterling ratios he was posting at the start of the year, but Darcy Kuemper still turned in a competent outing and held tight in the third period while the Wild came back from a 3-1 deficit. He'll probably be out there again when the Stars come to town Saturday.

Wild Turn To Kuemper On Thursday

News: Darcy Kuemper will be in the crease Thursday against the Sharks.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper played by far his worst game of the season his last time out Monday against the Rangers, allowing five goals in the third period to suffer his second defeat of the season. The uncharacteristically ugly game aside, Kuemper has been one of the league's top netminders over the season's first month, accruing a 1.51 GAA and .934 save percentage over six outings. Those strong numbers should be enough to make him a viable fantasy play against a quality Sharks squad.

Wild's Kuemper Suffers Third Period Meltdown

News: Darcy Kuemper suffered a meltdown against the Rangers on Monday, allowing five third-period goals in a 5-4 loss. He only stopped 15 of 20 shots on the night.
Analysis: This was a bizarre game all around for the Wild, who carried a 3-0 lead into the final frame after limiting the Rangers to just eight shots before they exploded for five goals. It certainly didn't help that the Minnesota power play (which still doesn't have a single tally this season) couldn't score a goal on not one, but two 5:00 power plays in the second period. Regardless, there's no doubt that Darcy Kuemper will need to be better, but with three shutouts, a 4-2 record, .934 save percentage and 1.51 GAA this season, we'll give him the benefit of the doubt. The Wild play again Tuesday against Boston, a game that could very well feature Niklas Backstrom between the pipes given the back-to-back situation.

Wild's Kuemper Will Start Monday

News: Darcy Kuemper will start in goal for Monday's game against the Rangers, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Darcy Kuemper was able to tally his fourth win of the season against the Lightning on Saturday and will be looking for his fifth against the Rangers. However, the Rangers are averaging 31.9 shots per game, so Kuemper will likely have his hands full.

Wild's Seven Goals Lead Kuemper To Victory

News: Darcy Kuemper claimed his fourth win in five outings Saturday against the Lightning, stopping 17 of 19 shots in a 7-2 victory.
Analysis: It was probably the worst performance of the season for Darcy Kuemper, but he had a high standard to uphold with three shutouts in his previous four turns. Fortunately, he was still able to keep himself in the win column thanks to an offensive onslaught by his mates, who found the net seven times on just 22 shot attempts. The second-year netminder is currently holding down a 0.81 GAA and .966 save percentage for the season and should remain a must-start against any opponent until his productivity slows down some more.

Wild's Kuemper To Start Saturday

News: Darcy Kuemper will be in the crease Saturday against the Lightning.
Analysis: There was no doubt that the Wild would go with Darcy Kuemper again Saturday after he posted three shutouts in his first four starts of the season. The 5-2-1 Lightning will provide a stiff test, but given how spectacularly he's played in the early stages, fantasy owners should still roll him Saturday without hesitation.
