Lander Producing Steadily For Oilers

News: Anton Lander picked up two assists and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 4-2 victory over the Kings.
Analysis: He's been finding his way onto the scoresheet every other game for the past seven contests, which adds up to a point-per-game pace over that span. Anton Lander's showing a lot of promise for the future, making the Oilers look good for signing him to a team-friendly contract extension.

Lander Signs Contract Extension With Edmonton

News: Anton Lander signed a two-year, $1.97 million contract extension with the Oilers on Thursday, Mark Spector of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Anton Lander has impressed the Oilers with his play since arriving from AHL Oklahoma City in January. While his totals of six goals and 17 points over 33 games don't jump off the page, Lander has still been a sizable upgrade over prospect Leon Draisaitl as the Oilers' third-line center. Lander can be penciled into that role for the Oilers in 2015-16.

Two Assists For Oilers' Lander

News: Anton Lander set up two goals in Monday's 4-1 win over Colorado.
Analysis: Anton Lander has produced at a decent rate when in the lineup this season, posting 17 points in 32 contests (0.53 points per game). He doesn't shoot a ton (48 SOG) and of course owns a minus rating (minus-10), as all but two Oilers that have played more than 25 games are on the negative side of the ledger. The 2009 second-round pick is still just 23, so look for continued development from the Swede next season.

Oilers' Lander Collects Two Helpers In Win

News: Anton Lander picked up two assists in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Avalanche.
Analysis: Lnder has played well in limited action this year, posting six goals and nine assists in just 30 games. He's still just 23 years old, so he could be a viable fantasy option in the future if his production continues to trend upward.

Oilers' Lander (Shoulder) Will Return Monday

News: Anton Lander (shoulder) will return to the Oilers' lineup Monday against the Red Wings.
Analysis: Anton Lander traveled with the team on the road trip, and skated with the team at practice Saturday. The forward was placed on IR on Feb. 20, but finally appears to be ready to return. In 22 games with the Oilers, the 23-year-old has tallied 11 points (four goals, seven assists), adding four penalty minutes and a minus-4 rating.

Oilers' Lander Skates With Team Saturday

News: Anton Lander (shoulder) skated on the Oilers' second line at Saturday's practice, Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal reports.
Analysis: Anton Lander was filling in for center Derek Roy, who took a maintenance day Saturday. While Lander's participation in practice bodes well for a forthcoming return, interim coach Todd Nelson has ruled the 23-year-old out for Sunday's game in Carolina. Lander could be an option for the second game of the Oilers' back-to-back set Monday in Detroit.

Oilers' Lander Closer To A Return

News: Anton Lander (shoulder) will accompany the team on their upcoming road trip, according to the Oilers' web site.
Analysis: Anton Lander is participating in all team drills during practice, but has yet to take any hits. That should be the last hurdle he needs to overcome before returning to the lineup.

Oilers' Lander (Shoulder) Skates Monday

News: Anton Lander (shoulder) was on the ice Monday sporting a yellow non-contact jersey, Derek Van Diest of the Edmonton Sun reports.
Analysis: Anton Lander remains out with a shoulder injury he suffered last Wednesday against the Bruins, but his presence on the ice Monday indicates he is progressing towards a return. He will probably need to get in a full-contact practice or two before returning to the ice, but Tuesday's game can likely be ruled out. His next chance to return will come Friday against the Blackhawks.

Oilers Place Lander On IR

News: Anton Lander (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Friday.
Analysis: The transaction guarantees that Anton Lander will miss at least the Oilers' next three games, as he's not eligible to come off IR until Feb. 26. The team has yet to provide a projected timetable for Lander's return, so there's a possibility his absence could drag into March or even beyond. With Lander now off the 23-man roster, the Oilers were able to open up a spot for AHL Oklahoma City blueliner Jordan Oesterle.

Oilers' Lander Departs With Shoulder Injury

News: Anton Lander suffered a shoulder injury in Wednesday's game and will not return.
Analysis: It's not clear exactly what type of injury Anton Lander is dealing with, but the setback puts into question his availability for Edmonton's next game Friday.

Oilers' Lander Nets Game-Winner

News: Anton Lander tallied the game-winning goal 1:47 into overtime Thursday against the Canadiens.
Analysis: Anton Lander has delivered goals in back-to-back games and is quietly clipping along at a half-point-per-game pace. A de facto replacement for the since reassigned Leon Draisaitl, Lander has provided a significant upgrade to the Oilers' third line. He should be on strong footing for a permanent stay with the parent club going forward.

Lander's Big Game Lifts Oilers

News: Anton Lander scored the game-winning goal -- his first tally of the year -- and had the primary assists on Edmonton's other two goals in Thursday's 3-2 win over Buffalo.
Analysis: He drove the offense in this one, which has to be pretty unexpected from a guy who entered play with 12 points in 105 career games. But he does now have seven points in 12 games this season, which is a fairly respectable stat that should make deep-league fantasy owners take a look at the 23-year-old Swede.

Oilers' Lander: Three-Game Assist Streak

News: Anton Lander picked up a power-play assist and logged 13:10 of ice time in Friday's win over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Anton Lander has been a more than adequate lineup replacement as the third-line center in place of the struggling Leon Draisaitl, who was demoted to juniors last weekend. He's now picked up assists in three consecutive games while working alongside Matt Fraser and Teddy Purcell.

Oilers' Lander Recalled From AHL

News: Anton Lander was recalled from AHL Oklahoma City on Thursday, Mark Spector of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: The former second-round pick has enjoyed a good deal of success at Oklahoma City this season, notching nine goals and 22 assists in 29 games thus far. He's received the call to help the Oilers' 27th-ranked scoring offense, though it's uncertain how much Anton Lander will play immediately upon his return to Edmonton.

Oilers' Send Lander Back To AHL

News: Anton Lander was sent back to Oklahoma City after Sunday's game versus the Stars, according to the Oilers web site.
Analysis: Anton Lander only played one game in his most recent recall and was a minus-2 to go along with six shots. Apparently that wasn't good enough to stick around.

Oilers Call Up Lander

News: Anton Lander was recalled from AHL Oklahoma City on Friday.
Analysis: With the Oilers' offense in the midst of a deep swoon, Anton Lander could get the opportunity to showcase his scoring chops. He netted eight goals and 19 assists over his 26 games with Oklahoma City.

Lander Signs One-Year Deal With Edmonton

News: Anton Lander signed a one-year $600,000 contract with the Oilers on Monday, according to the Edmonton Journal.
Analysis: Anton Lander had some thoughts about playing in Sweden next season but the one-way contract put that idea to bed. Lander will compete for the final pairing on the Oilers defense in training camp.

Oilers Assign Lander To AHL Oklahoma City

News: Anton Landers was sent back to AHL Oklahoma City on Sunday, Bob Stauffer of 630 CHED reports.
Analysis: Anton Lander will join five others being sent back to AHL Oklahoma City on Sunday. He will join a team in a playoff push and get some extra work in. He will make a run at the NHL roster again next season.

Oilers Recall Lander

News: Anton Lander was recalled from AHL Oklahoma City on Wednesday.
Analysis: With Sam Gagner slowed by an ankle injury following Tuesday's game against the Wild, Anton Lander will join the Oilers as insurance in the event Gagner's unable to play Thursday. If Gagner is indeed out Thursday, Lander would have a good shot at claiming a top-six role in the short-term, giving him some value in deeper leagues.

Oilers Assign Lander To Oklahoma City

News: Anton Lander was sent back down to the AHL on Monday, according to the Oilers' official site.
Analysis: The Oilers chose to keep top prospect Oscar Klefbom on the roster over Anton Lander, who will resume his captaincy on the Barons. Lander was a second-round pick by Edmonton in 2010, so he still has a future, but more than likely as a bottom-pairing D-man.

Oilers Recall Lander From AHL Oklahoma City

News: Anton Lander was recalled from AHL Oklahoma City on Saturday on an emergency basis.
Analysis: The Oilers just want a little depth up front for the weekend and will keep Anton Lander up as insurance. It is not yet known as to whether or not he will actually see any ice time.

Oilers Reassign Lander

News: Anton Lander was reassigned to AHL Oklahoma City on Saturday.
Analysis: Anton Lander served as a healthy scratch Friday following Mark Arcobello's (ribs) return to the ice. With Arcobello set to assume his spot in the lineup on a full-time basis moving forward, the Oilers decided it was best for Lander to play regularly in the minors.

Oilers Recall Lander

News: Anton Lander was recalled from AHL Oklahoma City on Wednesday.
Analysis: With Will Acton contributing a meager three points in 23 games this season, the Oilers recalled Anton Lander with the hope that he'd help bolster the team's attack. Lander appeared in just one game between his two call-ups earlier this season.
