Oilers' Larsen Headed To KHL

News: Philip Larsen has signed a one-year contract with HC Yugra of the KHL, the Edmonton Journal reports.
Analysis: The 24-year-old Philip Larsen failed to make much of an impact after coming over in a trade with the Stars last summer, notching 12 goals over 30 games. After the Oilers seemed to show little interest in bringing him back for his $1.15 million price tag, Larsen became the third Edmonton blueliner to defect to Russia, following Anton Belov and Denis Grebeshkov.

Oilers' Larsen Pots Goal In Defeat

News: Philip Larsen supplied his third goal of the season in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Ducks.
Analysis: Philip Larsen has found himself in the lineup the last three games with Andrew Ference out with a torn pectoral muscle, and figures to get regular run on the blue line the rest of the way. He won't see heavy minutes for Edmonton, but probably rates as one of their better offensive players at the position, with nine points over just 25 games.

Oilers Recall Larsen From AHL

News: Philip Larsen was recalled from the AHL on Wednesday, according to the Oilers' web site.
Analysis: Philip Larsen's stay in Oklahoma City only lasted a day as he will take the roster spot of the recently traded Nick Schultz.

Oilers Send Larsen To AHL

News: After clearing waivers, Philip Larsen has been assigned to AHL Oklahoma City.
Analysis: Philip Larsen, who has recorded six points in 17 games for the Oilers, last suited up with the big club on Jan. 29. He'll no doubt benefit from seeing regular AHL ice time now that he has cleared waivers.

Oilers Place Larsen On Waivers

News: Philip Larsen (illness) was placed on waivers Monday.
Analysis: Philip Larsen had been on injured reserve since Jan. 31 with an illness, but with the defenseman apparently healthy now, the Oilers had to make a roster move. He has six points and a minus-6 rating in the 17 games he's suited up for this season.

Oilers' Larsen Back On IR

News: Philip Larsen (illness) was placed back on injured reserve on Friday, Derek Van Diest of the Edmonton Sun reports.
Analysis: Philip Larsen was activated from IR on Wednesday, but to make room for the acquisition of Mark Fraser, the Oilers needed to temporarily make a roster spot. It is uncertain when Larsen will be activated again at this point.

Oilers Activate Larsen

News: Philip Larsen (illness) was activated from injured reserve Wednesday.
Analysis: He saw a healthy 18:46 of ice time in his return to the lineup, registering a hit and two blocks as the porous Oilers' defense allowed 59 shots on goal in the victory. Philip Larsen filled in Wednesday for Andrew Ference, who is out with a head injury.

Oilers' Larsen Back At Practice

News: Philip Larsen (illness) was back at practice Monday.
Analysis: Philip Larsen has been out for almost a month with an undisclosed illness, but this return to practice certainly bodes well for the defenseman. He's proved to be a decently productive scorer when healthy this year, with a goal and five assists in 16 games, but the Oilers would probably benefit from more defensive-minded players to stabilize their blue line.

Oilers' Larsen Placed on IR

News: Philip Larsen (illness) was placed on injured reserve by the Oilers on Friday, Derek Van Diest of the Edmonton Sun reports.
Analysis: Philip Larsen last played on Dec. 19 and has been out with an illness. In 16 games this season with the Oilers, he has six points on one goal and five assists. He will likely be eligible to be activated as soon as he is over the illness, since the move can be made retroactively.

Oilers' Larsen Returns Thursday

News: Philip Larsen (undisclosed) will be activated from injured reserve and play Thursday against the Avalanche, Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal reports.
Analysis: Philip Larsen will be one of several changes on defense for the Oilers, who also recalled Corey Potter and Martin Marincin on Wednesday. Although Larsen has only been healthy for eight games this season, he's been productive, with one goal and four assists in those contests.

Oilers' Larsen Uncertain For Next Three Games

News: Philip Larsen (undisclosed) is uncertain to join the Oilers for their three-game road trip beginning Thursday in Nashville.
Analysis: Philip Larsen hasn't appeared in a game since Nov. 16 after sustaining the undisclosed injury. He's been rather productive when healthy with five points in the eight games he's suited up for, but as has been the case for many of the Oilers' skaters, the good scoring totals haven't been reflected in his plus-minus figure.

Oilers' Larsen Questionable For Tuesday

News: Philip Larsen (undisclosed) is questionable for Tuesday's game against Columbus, the Edmonton Journal reports.
Analysis: The 23-year-old defenseman turned in a three-assist effort against the Blackhawks last Sunday, but still has just 24 points in 103 career games. With Justin Schultz (groin) potentially returning Tuesday, the Oilers may get along fine on the blue line even without Philip Larsen.

Oilers Recall Larsen

News: Philip Larsen was recalled from AHL Oklahoma City on Friday.
Analysis: Philip Larsen was up with the Oilers earlier in October but didn't see the ice. He'll be on hand in an insurance capacity Saturday in the event Justin Schultz (groin/rib) isn't able to play Saturday.

Oilers Recall Larsen From AHL

News: Philip Larsen was recalled from AHL Oklahoma City on Friday.
Analysis: The Oilers sent Denis Grebeshkov (groin) on a conditioning assignment in a corresponding move. Philip Larsen will likely function as defensive depth with the parent club until Grebeshkov is deemed healthy enough to return.

Oilers Waive Larsen

News: Philip Larsen was waived by the Oilers on Sunday.
Analysis: Philip Larsen will more than likely open the season in the minors after spending nearly the entire 2012-13 campaign at the NHL level with the Stars, appearing in 32 games and totaling five points and a minus-10 rating. He'll function as organizational defense depth for the Oilers if he passes through waivers.

Stars' Larsen Traded To Oilers

News: Philip Larsen has been traded from the Stars to the Oilers along with a 2016 seventh-round pick in exchange for Shawn Horcoff, Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos reports.
Analysis: The 23-year-old Philip Larsen averaged nearly 15 minutes of ice time in 32 games last season, though he didn't do much from a fantasy perspective, tallying just five points and 18 penalty minutes. He'll likely be in the mix to be a top-six defenseman for the Oilers once training camp rolls around.

Stars' Larsen Plays Thursday

News: Philip Larsen (illness) saw 11:27 worth of ice time Thursday against the Kings.
Analysis: Philip Larsen, who had missed the Stars' previous two games due to illness, was a game-time decision Thursday, but it looks like he should be good to go for the team going forward.

Stars' Larsen Dealing With Flu

News: Philip Larsen (head) flu is a game-time decision for Thursday's game against the Kings, Dallas Morning News writer Mike Heika reports.
Analysis: The status of Philip Larsen -- who last suited up on March 14 -- is of more import to the Stars' blue line depth than it is to fantasy owners. To date, Larsen has has one goal and 16 PIMs in 13 games.

Dallas' Larsen Rides The Pine Again

News: Philip Larsen has been a healthy scratch for the past two games.

Dallas' Larsen Nets Power-Play Tally In Return

News: Philip Larsen scored Dallas' lone goal, a power-play tally, in his return to the lineup Monday.
Analysis: Philip Larsen trailed just Alex Goligoski among Dallas' defensemen for ice time with the man advantage as well, as Dallas' trend of keeping defensive pairs intact for power play units continued. He's gone from a healthy scratch to a piece on the first power play unit in the span of two days, so those in deeper leagues will want to see if the trend continues when Dallas travels to Detroit for Tuesday's tilt.
