Sabres Send McNabb To Kings

News: Brayden McNabb was traded to the Kings along with two second-round picks Wednesday in exchange for prospects Hudson Fasching and Nicholas Deslauriers, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: With several promising young defensemen coming up the Sabres' pipeline, the team could afford to deal Brayden McNabb to the Kings for some other prospects. McNabb will probably stay in the AHL and report to the Kings' affiliate in Manchester, but he could have a chance to join the parent club as a late-season callup.

Sabres' McNabb Sent To AHL

News: Brayden McNabb was reassigned to AHL Rochester on Wednesday, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Analysis: The Sabres no longer had need for Brayden McNabb's services with Henrik Tallinder back from injured reserve. McNabb was held without a point in the 12 games he's suited up for this season.

Sabres Recall McNabb

News: Brayden McNabb was recalled from AHL Rochester on Saturday.
Analysis: Brayden McNabb's stay in Rochester lasted all of one day, as it appears the Sabres just wanted him to get in a game with the minor league club Friday night. He figures to be back in the lineup Sunday vs. the Capitals.

Sabres Return McNabb To Minors

News: Brayden McNabb was sent to AHL Rochester on Friday, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Brayden McNabb's demotion could signal that Henrik Tallinder will be ready to come off injured reserve and play Saturday, as the Sabres have no other healthy defensemen (besides the suspended Tyler Myers) to plug in for McNabb. With no points in his seven games on the season, McNabb probably wasn't being counted on to contribute in most fantasy leagues.

Sabres' McNabb Named AHL All-Star

News: For the third straight season, Brayden McNabb was named to the AHL All-Star Classic.
Analysis: Despite playing in just 19 AHL games, a result of shuttling back and forth between Buffalo and Rochester, Brayden McNabb's strong play earned him a spot in the All-Star Classic. It's quite an accomplishment for the hard-shooting defenseman, who has been named an all-star in his first three seasons of pro hockey. He has seen limited playing time under interim head coach Ted Nolan, and McNabb's fantasy value is hit-or-miss, depending on the amount of ice time he gets, but he figures to be a part of the Sabres' long-term plans.

Sabres' McNabb To Play Saturday

News: Called up from Rochester after the Spengler Cup, Brayden McNabb will play Saturday against New Jersey, reports Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News.
Analysis: The hard-shooting Brayden McNabb has been drawing in and out of the lineup and shuttling between the NHL and AHL all season. This will be McNabb's sixth appearance for Buffalo this year and he has yet to register a point. Alexander Sulzer will sit, as McNabb brings a little more offense and physical play into the lineup. As one of Buffalo's top young defensemen, McNabb's evaluation is ongoing. Interim head coach Ted Nolan will make decisions about McNabb's playing time on a game-by-game basis. McNabb's fantasy value is minimal at the moment.

Sabres Recall McNabb

News: Brayden McNabb was recalled from AHL Rochester on Wednesday, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: With AHL Rochester now finished with the Spengler Cup over in Switzerland, Brayden McNabb will return to the Sabres' defensemen corps. He's appeared in five games this season for Buffalo, logging no points while averaging 16:12 of ice time.

Sabres Demote McNabb

News: The Sabres have sent Brayden McNabb to AHL Rochester.
Analysis: He's struggled to hold a roster spot all season, and getting sent down will ultimately give Brayden McNabb a more steady supply of ice time at Rochester. The Amerks will be heading to Switzerland to take part in the Spengler Cup tournament, which will give McNabb, Mark Pysyk and Luke Adam a chance to play big minutes.

Sabres' McNabb Sits Out Thursday

News: Brayden McNabb will sit in the second game of a home-and-home series against Ottawa on Thursday.
Analysis: Brayden McNabb and the Sabres held Ottawa's top guns to just one goal on Tuesday, but Mike Weber will draw in as McNabb sits for the fifth time in six games. He was seen doing some extra drills with assistant coach Teppo Numminen at practice, along with the injured Alexander Sulzer. Interim head coach Ted Nolan continues to rotate players in and out of games on a near-nightly basis. McNabb's fantasy value is minimal unless he gets consistent playing time.

Sabres' McNabb To Play Tuesday

News: With Alexander Sulzer on the IR, Brayden McNabb will play Tuesday against Ottawa.
Analysis: Brayden McNabb, a healthy scratch in Buffalo's last four games, brings his powerful slap shot back into the lineup. No word on who will sit, though there's a good chance it will be Mike Weber. Expect McNabb to play on the third pairing, but get opportunities on the power play.

Sabres' McNabb To Sit Thursday

News: Brayden McNabb was recalled after playing one game for AHL Rochester, but will not play Thursday, reports the Olean Times Herald.
Analysis: Interim head coach Ted Nolan praised Brayden McNabb's attitude and his three-point performance against Utica on Wednesday, but will dress Jamie McBain on Thursday night instead. Nolan said McNabb still has "a little ways to go" before becoming a full-time NHL player. The young defender is venturing into no-man's land at the moment -- too good for the AHL, but not quite good enough for the NHL. The Sabres will certainly find some games to keep McNabb fresh, but Nolan's trying to get the veterans going, so it's tough to say how much action McNabb will see. The hard-shooting point man has little fantasy value outside of keeper leagues right now.

McNabb Returns To Sabres

News: After a one-game stint with Rochester, Brayden McNabb is back with the Sabres, reports The Buffalo News.
Analysis: The Sabres needed to make room for Cody McCormick, who returns Thursday, and also wanted Brayden McNabb to get some more playing time. He registered a goal and two assists in a 6-1 win over Utica on Wednesday. With Mikhail Grigorenko being loaned to Russia for the World Juniors, the roster shuffles should die down a little in Buffalo. Expect McNabb to stay with the Sabres for the next little while, especially with Alexander Sulzer possibly being placed on IR soon.

Sabres' McNabb Assigned To AHL

News: The Sabres have demoted Brayden McNabb to make room for the return of Cody McCormick, reports Amy Mortiz of The Buffalo News.
Analysis: This is the most logical move for Buffalo, as Brian Flynn has played well in a fourth-line role, Jamie McBain would have needed to clear waivers and the Sabres didn't want to send Mikhail Grigorenko back to juniors. Brayden McNabb had 12 points in 15 games prior to his call-up, but was held pointless in three games with the Sabres. He'll play one game with Rochester before he rejoining the team. Alexander Sulzer will be placed on IR to make room for McNabb and McCormick.

Sabres' McNabb Dresses Against Flyers

News: Recently called up from the AHL, Brayden McNabb will make his season debut Thursday night against the Flyers.
Analysis: Brayden McNabb will be paired with Jamie McBain, with whom he played during the preseason. The pairing will has a lot of offensive potential, with McNabb's cannon from the point and McBain tied for the team lead in power-play points. The duo will form Buffalo's third pair against the Flyers while Mark Pysyk sits.

Sabres Recall McNabb

News: The Sabres recalled Brayden McNabb from AHL Rochester on Wednesday, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Brayden McNabb has two goals and 10 assists in 15 games in Rochester. The hard-shooting, hard-hitting defenseman is no Shea Weber, but the two players certainly play a similar style. The 2013 AHL All-Star won the hardest shot competition with a 101.8 mph cannon. McNabb will play Thursday night against the Flyers, perhaps with a little time on the power play. No word on who will sit. McNabb is worth keeping an eye on in deep leagues. He's a young defenseman with lots of upside.

Sabres Send McNabb To Rochester

News: Brayden McNabb has been sent down to Rochester of the AHL, according to the Associated Press.
Analysis: The former third-rounder (2009) spent 25 games with the Sabres last season and remains a decent prospect, but the team has a fairly healthy blue line right now to be filled with some more experienced players. We imagine Brayden McNabb will be one of the first call-ups once the Sabres need a defenseman.

Season Over For Sabres' Prospect McNabb

News: Brayden McNabb will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury, reports The Buffalo News. In 62 games with the Sabres' AHL affiliate in Rochester, he recorded 36 points (five goals, 31 assists).
Analysis: This injury puts a damper on an otherwise fine season for the second year pro. He has emerged as the Sabres' top prospect on the blue line, and with a return to health should challenge for a roster spot in Buffalo next season.

Sabres' Prospect McNabb Playing Well In Rochester

News: Brayden McNabb has eight assists in his last seven games for the Sabres' AHL affiliate in Rochester.
Analysis: The young blueliner is taking advantage of an increased role since T.J. Brennan joined the big club following the NHL lockout. With 27 points in 43 games in the AHL this season, Brayden McNabb is projecting well offensively in his second season of pro hockey.

Sabres Will Let McNabb Develop In AHL

News: GM Darcy Regier said Monday that Brayden McNabb will likely continue to hone his skills in the minors this season, The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Brayden McNabb, just 21, saw time with the big club last season but that was mostly due to necessity to help a banged-up blue line. He'll probably get a taste with the Sabres again this season, but it looks like for the most part the Sabres would prefer to let McNabb develop one more season in the AHL. He had eight points in 25 games with Buffalo last season and 25 points in 45 games with Rochester.

Sabres McNabb Notches Two Assists Saturday

News: Brayden McNabb had two assists in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: He played 25:19 and will likely be full of confidence as he heads back to Rochester for the AHL playoffs. The offensively talented blueliner is someone to keep an eye on in the coming years.

Sabres' McNabb To Play In Season Finale

News: Brayden McNabb will be in the lineup for the season finale according to The Buffalo News.
Analysis: Mcnabb and fellow call-up T.J. Brennan will be used to help round out the depleted Sabres' defense corps. He will then head down to the AHL to help the Rochester Americans with their playoff run.

Buffalo Sends McNabb To AHL

News: Brayden McNabb was assigned to the AHL on Tuesday, Sabres.com reports.

Sabres Recall McNabb

News: Brayden McNabb was recalled by the Sabres ahead of Wednesday night's game with Colorado, according to John Vogl of The Buffalo News.
Analysis: Brayden McNabb suffered a concussion upon his last recall by the Sabres, and has been back down in Rochester for over a month since being declared symptom-free. He'll take the spot of Tyler Myers, who was suspended for three games on Tuesday.

McNabb Cleared To Play For Buffalo

News: Brayden McNabb (concussion) has been cleared to play and was assigned to the AHL on Thursday, Sabres.com reports.
Analysis: It's not known how long Brayden McNabb will stay in the AHL to get back up to speed, but his concussion appears to be in the rearview mirror at this point, in any case.
