Rangers' John Moore Active For Game 2

News: John Moore is active for Saturday's Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals against the Kings, Jim Cerny of the Rangers' Official Website reports.
Analysis: John Moore will replace Raphael Diaz, who logged 10:15 of ice time in Game 1. Moore was suspended for the final two games of the Western Conference finals, and he hasn't played in a game since May 27.

Rangers' Moore Suspended Two Games

News: John Moore has been suspended two games by the NHL, TSN reports.
Analysis: The suspension comes on the heels of John Moore's ejection from Tuesday's Game 5, when the defenseman blindsided Montreal forward Dale Weise. He was initially given a match penalty, but the league opted to extend the ban to two games, likely to discourage the Habs from seeking retribution for the hit. That means Moore will miss Thursday's Game 6, as well as either Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals or Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Look for Raphael Diaz to join the lineup in his place.

Rangers' Moore Facing Possible Suspension

News: John Moore was ejected from Tuesday's Game 5 loss for a hit to the Canadiens' Dale Weise.
Analysis: The clipping-with-complimentary-headshot delivered by John Moore was quite reminiscent of Brandon Prust's jaw-breaking hit on Derek Stepan in Game 3, but Weise didn't appear to suffer an injury. It seems likely Moore's suspended for a game or two, meaning the Rangers will have to fill his spot on the blue line in Thursday's Game 6.

Rangers' J. Moore Back in The Fold

News: John Moore registered an assist in a Game 1 rout (7-2) of Montreal on Saturday.
Analysis: After having his power play time taken away and being scratched in Game 3 against Pittsburgh, the former first-round pick (2009) has had a somewhat troubling post season. However, the 23-year-old logged nearly 18-minutes of ice time -including four-plus minutes on the man-advantage- in Saturday's win, so perhaps his first point of the playoffs is a sign of things to come.

Rangers Bench Moore For Game 3

News: John Moore didn't dress for Monday's Game 3 loss against the Penguins.
Analysis: Raphael Diaz replaced him in the lineup and on the power play, and played a solid game even though the Rangers were shut out. That may mean John Moore takes a seat in the press box again in Game 4.

Rangers' J. Moore Demoted From Power Play Unit?

News: John Moore did not join the team's power play line rushes during practice on Sunday, reports Andrew Gross of The Record.
Analysis: With a better-than-average point shot and puck-moving abilities, head coach Alain Vigneault gave the Illinois native a shot, but he proved to be ineffective. With the power play struggling to cash in on most opportunities, Vigneault is obviously trying to shake things up and there's no telling when John Moore will get his next opportunity on the man advantage. The former first round pick (2009), who had been seeing regular power play time on the team's second unit, has yet to find the scorer's sheet through eight playoff games.

Rangers' J. Moore Sees More Power Play Time

News: John Moore logged 2-plus minutes of power play time in a 4-2 Game 5 win over Philadephia on Sunday.
Analysis: The strangest part is he only logged 13 minutes of total ice time. John Moore nearly had an assist, if not for Martin St. Louis' goal being disallowed. Although the 23-year-old has been held off the scorer's sheet for the entire series and his total ice time has steadily decrease during the course of the series, head coach Alain Vigneault clearly has use for the former first-round pick.

Rangers' Moore Logs Goal In Return

News: John Moore (concussion) returned to the New York lineup Thursday, finishing with a goal in the shootout loss to the Wild.
Analysis: After missing nearly the last two weeks with a concussion, John Moore returned on defense for the Rangers, taking the place of the ailing Ryan McDonagh. He saw 15:12 of total ice time in the game, working in a tandem with Dan Girardi.

Rangers' Moore Closing In On Return

News: John Moore (concussion) needs one more practice before he'll be ready to return to the lineup, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Analysis: The blueliner has been sidelined since March 21 with a concussion, but is reportedly close to making a return. The Rangers practice again on Wednesday, so it sounds like John Moore will miss Tuesday's game against the Canucks, but could suit up Thursday against the Avalanche.

Rangers' Moore A Possibility For Next Week

News: Coach Alain Vigneault said John Moore (concussion) could be back in the lineup at some point next week, Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: While Vigneault went ahead and ruled John Moore out for Sunday's contest against Edmonton, it sounds like with a few more practices under his belt, the defenseman could draw back in immediately. There's a realistic chance he could be available Tuesday in Vancouver.

Rangers' Moore Skates

News: John Moore (concussion) skated on his own and took shots during Wednesday's morning skate, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: It's nice that John Moore was able to return to on-ice activities, but he'll still need to be cleared for contact before we'll have a better timetable for his return. The blueliner has racked up three goals and 10 assists in 69 games this season.

Rangers' Moore Makes A Little Progress

News: John Moore (concussion) reported that he felt better while getting in some light conditioning work Monday, Steve Zipay of the Newsday reports.
Analysis: John Moore will miss his second straight game Monday as he remains under the league's concussion protocol, but it's nice to see that he's progressing from the head injury in some regard. He was able to ride a stationary bike Monday and could resume some on-ice activities in the coming days if his recovery remains positive.

Rangers' Moore Has Concussion

News: John Moore has been diagnosed with a concussion.
Analysis: As was feared, the hit to the head suffered by John Moore on Friday resulted in a concussion, which will more than likely take the defenseman out of the lineup for multiple games. He had tallied 13 points in 69 games for the Rangers and will set his sights on returning before the postseason begins.

Rangers' Moore Not Expected To Play Saturday

News: John Moore (upper body) will not play Saturday against the Devils, Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: John Moore appeared to hit his head into the boards on a check by the Blue Jackets' Blake Comeau on Friday night, leaving the game and not returning. The Rangers planned to re-evaluate Moore before Saturday's game, but Raphael Diaz is nonetheless likely to take his spot in the lineup against the Devils.

Rangers' Moore Suffers Injury Friday

News: John Moore played just 6:02 Friday against the Blue Jackets and left with an apparent injury. Coach Alain Vigneault said he would be re-evaluated Saturday.
Analysis: There was no word as to the type of injury or the extent of it, so consider him day-to-day for now and expect the Rangers to update his condition over the weekend.

Moore Collects Goal In Win Over Ottawa

News: John Moore was a plus-1 with a goal and five shots on net in Tuesday's 8-4 win over Ottawa.
Analysis: That's John Moore's first point in five games and first goal since November. Although Moore has been more prone to joining the offensive play since the arrival of Kevin Klein, it doesn't appear to have completely sunk into the young defenseman. With three points over his last seven games played, we would like to suggest he's developing before our eyes, but we've been fooled before. For now, dynasty-league owners should be most interested and all other formats should wait for more consistency from the third-pairing guy with an offensive upside.

Rangers' J. Moore Slumping

News: John Moore has registered just one point in his last 15 contests.
Analysis: The former first-round pick (2009) has been logging third-line minutes all season, limiting his offensive upside. Although newly acquired defensive-minded, Kevin Klein, should allow for John Moore to jump into the play more often as the Rangers finish out the season. Moore is a plus-1 with two goals, eight assists through 57 games played this season.

Rangers' J. Moore To Move Back To Right Side

News: As a result of Michael Del Zotto being traded to Nashville for right-handed Kevin Klein, John Moore will move back to his natural side (left) of the ice, reports Andrew Gross of The Bergen Record.
Analysis: It may seem like arbitrary news to most, but the move back to a more comfortable position could result in more consistent play for the young defenseman. While it seems John Moore and Klein will pair in Thursday's tilt against St. Louis, the arrival of a new face could lead to head coach Alain Vigneault shuffling until he's happy. Moore, who has offensive upside, has logged two goals and seven assists through 50 games played this season.

Rangers' J. Moore Paired With Stralman

News: Updating a previous report, John Moore will again pair with Anton Stralman (wrist) for Tuesday's game against the Panthers, reports Pat Leonard of The Daily News.
Analysis: After logging over 22 minutes of ice time in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay, with Marc Staal (concussion) back in the lineup, John Moore moves back down to the third pairing with his typical partner in Stralman. It appears Moore has returned to fantasy irrelevance in most leagues for now.

Rangers' J. Moore Waiting In The Wings

News: With rumors of fellow defenseman Michael Del Zotto being shopped and Marc Staal's (concussion) status unknown, John Moore could step up into a top-4 defenseman role.
Analysis: Since coming over for Marian Gaborik at last season's trade deadline, John Moore has shown flashes of offensive upside. Columbus' first-round pick (2009) has already met career highs with two goals and five assists in 36 games played this season. Should Del Zotto get moved, with a solid point shot and an increase in ice time, you could see Moore become fantasy relevant.

Rangers' Moore Notches Two Helpers

News: John Moore contributed two assists in Wednesday's shootout loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: With just seven points in 33 games this season, John Moore probably isn't a name to monitor on the waiver wire. He'll remain a fixture on the club's third defensive pairing until further notice.

Rangers' J. Moore To Sit Against Canucks

News: John Moore will serve as a healthy scratch in Saturday's game against the Canucks, reports Steve Zipay of Newsday.
Analysis: With Justin Falk remaining in the lineup and Michael Del Zotto returning, John Moore is the odd man out on the blue line. This move wreaks of temporary accommodations for the former first-round pick. With MDZ reportedly being shopped, Moore certainly fits into the Rangers' plans beyond the 2013-14 campaign. The 23-year-old, who has shown the ability to work as a top-4 defenseman, has a modest goal and two assists in his last six games played.

Rangers' Moore Ice Time Increased

News: John Moore collected four shots on goal and an assist in 16:11 of TOI in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Boston.
Analysis: More importantly, the young defenseman acquired in last season's deal for Marian Gaborik has seen his total ice time increase by nearly four minutes in the last three games, equating into more opportunities. Although he has just a goal and two assists in 21 games this season, we still feel like the former 21st overall pick (2009) is capable of contributing offensively as a top-4 defenseman should he get the opportunity.

Moore Collects Assist In Loss

News: John Moore collected three shots on goal and nabbed an assist in a 2-1 loss to Philadelphia on Thursday.
Analysis: John Moore, who played just under 16 minutes of total ice time, also logged 1:14 of power-play time and two blocked shots in the loss. Despite his team's poor play, Moore seems to be kicking things up a notch, having registered eight shots on goal to go with his goal and an assist in his last three tilts.

Rangers' Moore Scores Goal Wednesday

News: John Moore kicked off the Rangers' scoring with a second-period goal in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Capitals.
Analysis: Though he didn't notice any added ice time as a result of Michael Del Zotto's (illness) absence from the lineup, John Moore was nonetheless able to net his first goal of the season. He fired off a season-high five shots on goal in the game, ranking behind first-liner Ryan Callahan for the most on the team.
