Coyotes' Moore Picks Up Assist In Win

News: John Moore picked up an assist on the power play Thursday in a 4-3 overtime win over Buffalo. He was minus-1and took six shots in the contest.
Analysis: John Moore has significantly increased his point production since joining Arizona with four of his 12 points on the season coming in the 12 games he has played since being traded. The transition from the Stanley Cup contender Rangers to the lowly Coyotes can be seen most clearly in his plus/minus, which has gone from a healthy plus-9 in New York to a minus-7 in the desert. That is also a function of the four extra minutes per night he is playing since the trade, which is a good test for whether Moore can be a top four defensemen in the NHL long-term. He is someone to keep an eye on in dynasty and keeper leagues as the season comes down to its final couple of weeks.

Coyotes' Moore Notches Two Points

News: John Moore opened the scoring with his second goal of the season and added a power-play assist Tuesday in a 5-4 overtime win against the Red Wings.
Analysis: John Moore hasn't seen any kind of uptick offensively since moving from New York to Arizona, as he had just a single point in 10 games as a Coyote before breaking out with the nice game Tuesday. He's still just 24 years old, so there's room for more offense to develop, but Moore hasn't been offering a ton of promise on that front, nor has his physical play been particularly impressive.

Coyotes' Moore Debuts In Loss

News: John Moore skated 20:55 in his Coyotes debut Tuesday; a 4-1 loss to Anaheim. He was minus-2 and took one shot while adding a hit in the game.
Analysis: As expected, John Moore stepped right into the lineup and saw his highest ice time since November, including 2:27 on the power play. He doesn't have the skill to replace Keith Yandle, but he will soak up a lot of the minutes of the former Coyote through the rest of the season. The 24-year-old has a chance to secure a top-four position next season with strong play down the stretch.

Moore Traded To Coyotes

News: The Coyotes acquired John Moore from the Rangers on Sunday, along with Anthony Duclair, a first-round draft pick in 2016 and a second-round pick in 2015 in exchange for Keith Yandle, Chris Summers and a fourth-round pick in 2015, ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: John Moore, who has recorded one goal and five assists in 38 games for the Rangers this season, could well end up seeing a boost in ice time with the Coyotes, though his plus-7 rating figures to take a hit in the process.

Rangers' Moore Gets First Goal Of Season

News: John Moore scored his first goal of the season in Saturday's loss to the Flyers.
Analysis: He has one goal and five assists in 38 games this season. His fantasy value is limited right now, but he does have talent. It just may never manifest itself to the fullness of his draft-day potential.

Rangers' J. Moore Back In The Saddle

News: John Moore was credited with an assist in the second period of Thursday's 4-3 win over Arizona.
Analysis: The point snaps an 11-game point-scoring drought for the defenseman, who has seen his fair share of time in the press box this campaign. While incumbent defenseman Matt Hunwick is dealing with a drought of his own, Hunwick's production has been slightly better (eight points in 40 games) than that of John Moore's five points through 37 games. With the trade deadline approaching and the organization clearly in buyer's mode, for good or ill, this situation could possibly look very different by this time next week.

Regression Continues For Rangers' J. Moore

News: John Moore is mired in an eight-game point-scoring drought.
Analysis: Having sat as a healthy scratch in two of the team's last three contests, it seems the former first-round pick's season of regression will continue. Although head coach Alain Vigneault has yet to fully give up on John Moore, it certainly appears Matt Hunwick is currently leading the battle for the team's sixth defenseman role. Moore has just four points to go with 33 hits and a plus-3 rating in 33 contests.

Rangers' J. Moore Snaps Drought

News: John Moore snapped a nine game pointless drought in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Kings.
Analysis: While John Moore has received the nod over Matt Hunwick for the spot as the team's sixth defenseman in the first two games of their west coast trip, he logged less than 10 minutes of playing time. Yes, there was a time we felt Moore was dripping in fantasy promise, but until he can get on a roll and start stringing points together, his speculative upside seems to be fading.

Rangers To Dress John Moore Against Ducks

News: John Moore will be in the lineup Wednesday night against the Ducks, reports Pat Leonard of The Daily News.
Analysis: John Moore, who for the most part has been alternating with Matt Hunwick as the team's seventh defenseman, will see his first action in the new year. The 24-year-old Winnetka, Illinois native has just three points (all assists) and a minus-2 rating in 23 games played thus far.

Rangers' J. Moore Continues Disappointing Season

News: John Moore registered two shots on goal and a minus-1 rating in the team's victory over New Jersey on Saturday.
Analysis: Seeing his first action since December 14, John Moore jumped on for 17 shifts (11:59 TOI) in the win. While it appears head coach Alain Vigneault's tough love has not worked out just yet and he remains irrelevant in almost any fantasy format it's not too late for Moore to get his season turned around. The former first round pick has a disappointing three assists in 22 contests this season.

Rangers' Moore Will Play On Monday

News: John Moore will play in Monday's game against the Penguins.
Analysis: John Moore was a healthy scratch for the Rangers' past two games on Friday and Saturday but will be back in the lineup on Monday. It seems like Moore will be replacing Matt Hunwick on the Rangers blueline for the game. Moore has no goals and three assists through 18 games so far this season.

Rangers' Moore A Healthy Scratch

News: John Moore will be a healthy scratch for Friday's game against the Flyers.
Analysis: The return of Ryan McDonagh from IR will force the Rangers to drop one of their defensemen from his regular role, and it will be John Moore who draws the short end of the stick. Coach Alain Vigneault said third-pairing blueliner Matt Hunwick has been more dependable with the puck than Moore has of late, which was likely the primary factor in the lineup decision.

Rangers' Moore Back In Tuesday

News: John Moore will make his return to the lineup Tuesday against the Penguins.
Analysis: With his five-game suspension now completed, John Moore will pair back up with Mike Kostka for his first game since Oct. 27. The blueliner had one point, 10 penalty minutes and 16 hits in his nine games prior to the suspension.

Rangers' Moore Suspended Five Games

News: John Moore has been suspended five games for his illegal hit on the Wild's Erik Haula during Monday's game, Bob McKenzie of TSA.ca reports.
Analysis: The elbow to the head earned John Moore an ejection from Monday's tilt, and upon review by the NHL's Department of Player Safety, it's been determined a ban of five games is sufficient punishment. With Dan Boyle (hand) not expected back for several weeks and Moore now out as well, the Rangers figure to add a defenseman from the AHL ahead of Saturday's game.

Rangers' Moore To Have Disciplinary Hearing Weds.

News: John Moore, who was ejected from Monday's game against the Wild for his illegal hit on Erik Haula, will have an in-person disciplinary hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Wednesday morning, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: John Moore is expected to receive a suspension of at least six games for the vicious elbow to Haula's head, though he'll have the opportunity to plead his case before a decision is reached. Mike Kostka would likely be called upon to replace Moore in the lineup for however many games he's forced to sit out.

Rangers' Moore Facing Suspension For Monday Hit

News: John Moore could face a suspension of at least six games for his hit on Minnesota's Erik Haula in Monday's game, Andrew Gross of the The Record reports.
Analysis: It was originally reported that John Moore would have a phone hearing -- meaning a suspension of five games or less -- in connection with his hit in Monday's game, but it now appears there is a good possibility he will have an in-person meeting, which would mean a suspension of at least six games. Either way, it's looking likely that Moore will be forced to sit out several games for his actions in Monday's contest.

Rangers' J. Moore To Be Suspended?

News: John Moore was given a game misconduct penalty for his hit on Erik Haula in Monday's 5-4 victory over the Wild.
Analysis: Despite the fact that Haula clearly embellished the impact, the hit to the head was clearly intentional and too high for the NHL's standards. Although the penalty minutes were John Moore's first of the season through nine games, with a two-game suspension for elbowing Montreal's Dale Weise in last season's Eastern Conference playoffs barely in his rear-view mirror, new discipline czar Stephanie Quintal could look to make an example out of him. Moore has just one assist through the first nine games of the season, keeping his fantasy impact low.

Rangers' J. Moore To Move Up Ranks

News: John Moore could get time on the team's first power play unit, reports Andrew Gross of The Record.
Analysis: With defenseman Dan Boyle (hand) expected to miss four-to-six weeks, it appears the former first-round pick of the Blue Jackets (2009) will be one of the first in line for an increase in overall ice time and specialty play. John Moore collected four goals and 11 assists through 74 games on the team's third pairing last season.

Rangers, Moore Reach Agreement On Deal

News: John Moore signed a one-year, $850,000 contract with the Rangers on Wednesday, Larry Brooks of the New York Post reports.
Analysis: John Moore's 15 points in 74 games last season wouldn't seem to suggest an ascension to universal fantasy relevance is in order, but since he's still just 23 years old, some more growth could still exist in his game. He'll more than likely open the season as one of the Rangers' third-pairing rearguards, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him emerge as a top-four player on defense as the campaign wears on.

Rangers' John Moore Active For Game 2

News: John Moore is active for Saturday's Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals against the Kings, Jim Cerny of the Rangers' Official Website reports.
Analysis: John Moore will replace Raphael Diaz, who logged 10:15 of ice time in Game 1. Moore was suspended for the final two games of the Western Conference finals, and he hasn't played in a game since May 27.

Rangers' Moore Suspended Two Games

News: John Moore has been suspended two games by the NHL, TSN reports.
Analysis: The suspension comes on the heels of John Moore's ejection from Tuesday's Game 5, when the defenseman blindsided Montreal forward Dale Weise. He was initially given a match penalty, but the league opted to extend the ban to two games, likely to discourage the Habs from seeking retribution for the hit. That means Moore will miss Thursday's Game 6, as well as either Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals or Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Look for Raphael Diaz to join the lineup in his place.

Rangers' Moore Facing Possible Suspension

News: John Moore was ejected from Tuesday's Game 5 loss for a hit to the Canadiens' Dale Weise.
Analysis: The clipping-with-complimentary-headshot delivered by John Moore was quite reminiscent of Brandon Prust's jaw-breaking hit on Derek Stepan in Game 3, but Weise didn't appear to suffer an injury. It seems likely Moore's suspended for a game or two, meaning the Rangers will have to fill his spot on the blue line in Thursday's Game 6.

Rangers' J. Moore Back in The Fold

News: John Moore registered an assist in a Game 1 rout (7-2) of Montreal on Saturday.
Analysis: After having his power play time taken away and being scratched in Game 3 against Pittsburgh, the former first-round pick (2009) has had a somewhat troubling post season. However, the 23-year-old logged nearly 18-minutes of ice time -including four-plus minutes on the man-advantage- in Saturday's win, so perhaps his first point of the playoffs is a sign of things to come.

Rangers Bench Moore For Game 3

News: John Moore didn't dress for Monday's Game 3 loss against the Penguins.
Analysis: Raphael Diaz replaced him in the lineup and on the power play, and played a solid game even though the Rangers were shut out. That may mean John Moore takes a seat in the press box again in Game 4.

Rangers' J. Moore Demoted From Power Play Unit?

News: John Moore did not join the team's power play line rushes during practice on Sunday, reports Andrew Gross of The Record.
Analysis: With a better-than-average point shot and puck-moving abilities, head coach Alain Vigneault gave the Illinois native a shot, but he proved to be ineffective. With the power play struggling to cash in on most opportunities, Vigneault is obviously trying to shake things up and there's no telling when John Moore will get his next opportunity on the man advantage. The former first round pick (2009), who had been seeing regular power play time on the team's second unit, has yet to find the scorer's sheet through eight playoff games.
