Avs' O'Reilly Tabs An Assist In Win

News: Ryan O'Reilly recorded an assist, three shots, and skated to a plus-2 rating in a 3-1 win over Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
Analysis: Ryan O'Reilly has been an assist machine of late, tallying eight assists in the last nine games, the most recent one coming off of Gabriel Landeskog's goal late in the third period to seal the win against Pittsburgh on Wednesday. O'Reilly's production continues into the the month of March and the Av's second line of O'Reilly, Landeskog, and Nathan MacKinnon appear to have found their groove of late, scoring 12 goals in the last 10 games.

Avs' O'Reilly Assists MacKinnon In Win

News: Ryan O'Reilly assisted on two of Nathan MacKinnon's three goals in Sunday's win over the Lightning.
Analysis: Skating on the top line with MacKinnon, Ryan O'Reilly has racked up five assists in his last five games, giving him 34 points (10 goals) in 60 games on the season. He's on pace for far less goals than he had last season, but if his linemate MacKinnon can build off his hat-trick performance, O'Reilly could benefit.

Avs' O'Reilly Produces Assist In Win

News: Ryan O'Reilly notched an assist in Monday's win over the Coyotes.
Analysis: Ryan O'Reilly has two assists in as many games, but it doesn't necessarily signal that a breakout is imminent for the 24-year-old. Despite suiting up in every game thus far, O'Reilly is still on track to fall short of 50 points for his first full season since 2010-11, his second year in the league.

Two Points For Avs' O'Reilly

News: Ryan O'Reilly scored a goal and assisted on the game-tying tally Tuesday in a shootout win over Dallas.
Analysis: It's been a slow year for Ryan O'Reilly, but he's been picking things up recently, with six points in his last seven games. Tuesday was a particularly strong effort, and his second consecutive plus-2 outing.

Avs' O'Reilly Nabs Goal In Win

News: Ryan O'Reilly nabbed a goal, two PIM and won 13 of 22 faceoffs in Wednesday's win over the Bruins.
Analysis: Ryan O'Reilly supplied the tying tally with 1:45 remaining in the third period, finding the net on a backhanded shot amid a scramble in front of goalie Tuukka Rask. Like many of his fellow Avs, O'Reilly is well off the scoring pace he posted a year ago, but he's at least begun to make strides with his plus/minus rating. After sitting in the negative double digits for most of the season, O'Reilly has improved his mark to a palatable minus-6 over his 48 games.

Avs' O'Reilly Grabs Two Helpers

News: Ryan O'Reilly picked up a pair of assists and went plus-2 in Thursday's win over the Senators.
Analysis: Ryan O'Reilly has disappointed this year, as he's far off the scoring pace he's posted over the last three seasons, and he hasn't shown many meaningful signs of picking things up. Perhaps Tuesday's effort will get him going, but we've said that before. He's an intriguing buy-low candidate, but perhaps more in keeper leagues than yearly formats.

Avs' O'Reilly Picks Up Two Points In Win

News: Ryan O'Reilly scored a goal and tacked on an assist -- both on the power play -- in Tuesday's win over the Blues.
Analysis: A strong outing for the talented center, who hadn't picked up a power-play point since nabbing two back on Nov. 1 against these same Blues. On the dark side of things, he's been struggling mightily on faceoffs lately, including going 5-for-15 on Tuesday.

Avs' O'Reilly Notches Two Assists

News: Ryan O'Reilly collected a pair of assists and went minus-1 in Thursday's overtime loss to Calgary.
Analysis: After a slow start to the year, Ryan O'Reilly's been picking things up, as he now has five points in his last five games. He's one of the more talented players in the league, so look for O'Reilly to keep putting up numbers.

Avs' O'Reilly Nets Goal In Defeat

News: Ryan O'Reilly netted his third goal of the season in Wednesday's loss to the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Ryan O'Reilly has a point in back-to-back games, but he's still been largely invisible for most of November, accruing six points in 12 games. On top of his downturn in offense, O'Reilly is sitting on a minus-12 rating for the season, which has put a huge drag on his fantasy value to date.

Avs' O'Reilly Continues To Struggle Offensively

News: Ryan O'Reilly continues to suffer through a cold streak, as he has only has two goals after the first 16 games, the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: After leading the Avs with 28 goals last season, Ryan O'Reilly has struggled to score goals so far this season. He should be able to turn things around, and owners should not give up on him yet.

Avs' O'Reilly Has Worst Plus-Minus Among Forwards

News: Ryan O'Reilly currently ranks last among all NHL forwards with a minus-11 rating.
Analysis: The ugly rating is somewhat surprising for a player who remains tied for the league lead with 16 takeaways, but Ryan O'Reilly's lack of offensive production (eight points in 14 games) along with some blowout losses by the Avs have dragged down his mark. However, given O'Reilly's relatively steady track record of production in previous seasons, his early struggles should not be reason enough for owners to give up on him yet.

Avs' O'Reilly Notches Two Points In Loss

News: Ryan O'Reilly netted a power-play goal and added an assist in Saturday's loss to St.Louis.
Analysis: Ryan O'Reilly has recorded eight points (two goals) in 12 games this season, to go with a disappointing minus-9 rating. Skating on the top power-play unit with Nathan MacKinnon, O'Reilly looked dominant Saturday, firing six shots on goal. The top-line winger has six points in his last six games and should be in your lineup whenever the Avalanche take to the ice.

Avs' O'Reilly Picks Up Two Points

News: Ryan O'Reilly assisted on two of the team's three goals in a 4-3 overtime defeat at the hands of the Panthers on Tuesday.
Analysis: Ryan O'Reilly hasn't been as productive as expected to this point in the season, but he was able to double his point total for the year in the loss. He also tallied five shots on net, so he could be in the process of breaking out of his early-season slump.

Avs' O'Reilly Gets Goal In Defeat

News: Ryan O'Reilly chipped in with a goal in Tuesday's loss to the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Ryan O'Reilly has been one of many Avs to get off to a sluggish start to begin the campaign, as the goal marks his lone goal in the team's four contests. There's too much talent surrounding the newly-signed O'Reilly for him not to heat up offensively sooner or later, so fantasy owners are advised to stay patient with the winger for the time being.

Avs, O'Reilly Strike Deal

News: Ryan O'Reilly agreed to a two-year, $12 million contract with the Avalanche on Wednesday to avoid arbitration, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
Analysis: The Avs and Ryan O'Reilly had been far apart on a new deal in recent weeks, but with the prospect of an arbitration hearing closing in, both sides were motivated to strike a quick deal. Still, O'Reilly has been angling for a long-term deal with the Avs for quite some time, to no avail, so he could be motivated to join another organization when he becomes an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2016.

Avs, O'Reilly: No Contract In Sight

News: Ryan O'Reilly and the Avalanche appear destined for arbitration, reports the Denver Post.
Analysis: The two sides haven't had a substantive discussion on a new deal since the Avs filed for arbitration last month. The team made the move to try to save itself some cash, but Ryan O'Reilly and his agent aren't happy. Then again, this same scenario happened the last time they tried to ink a deal. This probably means a short-term deal for the center and then he'll walk away in two years when he is eligible to be a UFA. This could be ugly ... again.

Avalanche's O'Reilly Tallies Two Points

News: Ryan O'Reilly had two helpers against the Wild in Monday's Game 6.

Avs' O'Reilly On Four-Game Streak

News: Ryan O'Reilly's two assists -- including one on the power play -- in Tuesday's victory over Edmonton pushed his point streak to four games.
Analysis: He's got two goals, three assists and a plus-4 rating in that span, which has to have the Avs feeling good about Ryan O'Reilly's level of play heading into the postseason.

Avs' O'Reilly Scores In Third Straight

News: Ryan O'Reilly provided a point in his third straight game Sunday in a shootout loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: His six shots on goal tied a season high, while his 26:10 of ice time was also his top mark of the campaign. The Avalanche will be leaning on Ryan O'Reilly heavily to supply offense with Matt Duchene set to miss the next three weeks.

Avs' O'Reilly Finally Takes Penalty Saturday

News: After managing to stay out of the penalty box for every one of his 71 contests this season, Ryan O'Reilly finally picked up some PIM Saturday in a 3-2 victory over the Sharks.
Analysis: In a game that saw Semyon Varlamov earn his league-leading 37th win in a 47-save performance and superstar Matt Duchene leave with a potentially serious knee injury, the small story was Ryan O'Reilly's minor penalty that ended his season-long penalty-free streak. He was assessed -- in rather bizarre fashion -- an extremely rare "broken stick" minor at 8:49 of the third after he played the puck with his foot while unknowingly hanging onto his stick that had broken moments before. Although he didn't register any points in the win, O'Reilly owners won't mind the fact that he finally was sent to the sin bin. Despite the transgression (if you can call it that), the gentlemanly winger is still a frontrunner for the Lady Byng trophy and his 58 points are a monumental reason why the Avs sit fifth overall in the NHL.

Avs` O`Reilly Scores Team-High 26th Wednesday

News: O`Reilly bagged his team-high 26th goal of the season in Wednesday`s 5-4 loss -- the Avs` second in as many nights -- to the Jets.
Analysis: O`Reilly set the tone just 20 seconds in with a fortuitous bounce against the Jets, banking a pass intended for Jamie McGinn off Bryan Little`s skate and into the net. Since December 8, the 2009 33rd-overall pick hasn`t gone more than three games without a goal, so it was nice to see him continue that trend of consistency after not scoring since his last goal against Chicago four games prior. Much of his success in finding twine so often this year lies in his 15.1 shooting percentage. It is nearly a full five points higher than his career-average of 10.4 and is indicative of O`Reilly getting better scoring chances while playing with more productive linemates (aka. the Matt Duchene Effect). He`ll look to keep rolling Friday versus the Eastern Conference-leading Bruins.

Avs` O`Reilly Fine; Will Play Tuesday

News: Despite missing Monday`s practice, coach Patrick Roy said O`Reilly will play Tuesday in Montreal, the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Thankfully, the Avs` leading goal scorer appears none the worse for wear after leaving Sunday`s tilt against the Senators with a suspected injury. Colorado is already down two of their best offensive threats in P.A. Parenteau and Paul Stastny, so having O`Reilly available is a huge relief for Roy, who will be gunning to win his first game as an NHL coach in Montreal - the city where he backstopped the Canadiens to two Stanley Cups. O`Reilly will resume his regular top-line duties next to Matt Duchene and Jamie McGinn and will look to build on his post-Olympic hot streak of 14 points in 10 games.

Avs' O'Reilly Having Career Year

News: Ryan O'Reilly has been enjoying the most productive season of his career, having posted career highs in goals (25), game-winning goals (6) and power-play goals (8). He also leads the league with 71 takeaways.
Analysis: The Mile High City has been good to the 23-year-old, who has emerged as one of the premiere two-way forwards in the game. He'll set his sights on another milestone Sunday in Ottawa, as he needs just one more point to surpass his personal best of 55 set two seasons ago. Give yourself a pat on the back if you drafted him last Fall.

News: Ryan O'Reilly recorded a goal and an assist in Wednesday's win over the Blackhawks.

Avs' O'Reilly On Fire Since Break

News: Ryan O'Reilly picked up two assists and went plus-3 during Thursday's overtime win in Detroit, pushing his point streak to five games and nine points.
Analysis: Those five games coincide with the post-Olympic resumption of play, as Ryan O'Reilly -- who went into the break on a down note -- has come out flying. He's now reached 50 points for the second time in his career and is easily on pace to eclipse his career high of 55, set in 2011-12.
