Bolts' Panik Impresses Post Olympics

News: Richard Panik has impressed his coach since his call-up earlier this month, reports the Tampa Tribune. "He's way more assertive [than in his previous call-up], he's using his body, his speed and he's not turning pucks over as he did a little more regularly in the past and he's playing the 200-foot game," Lightning head coach Jon Cooper said.
Analysis: Richard Panik has the things -- size, speed and skill -- that make scouts drool. But he's been inconsistent and that affected his confidence earlier in the season. His experience at the Olympics playing for Slovakia alongside Marian Hossa and Zdeno Chara seems to have been a big benefit. "I felt great, like a different player (after coming back from the Olympics)," Panik said. "I played more with the puck, protecting the puck more, making more plays, so I think it really helped me. I had really good games after the Olympics." He can be a scoring-line presence if he keeps this up.

Bolts Recall Panik

News: Richard Panik was recalled from AHL Syracuse on Wednesday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Bolts didn't want Vladislav Namestnikov to stick with the parent club only to serve as a regular healthy scratch, so Richard Panik will join the team to serve as a depth forward. He provided 11 points in 39 games earlier this season for the Bolts, but he'll have difficulty earning meaningful ice time in this go-around with the team, especially with Steven Stamkos (leg) set to return soon.

Bolts' Panik Sent To AHL

News: Richard Panik was assigned to AHL Syracuse by the Lightning on Friday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Richard Panik had a two-game suspension at the end of December and has played sparingly since that respite in play. He has been averaging around 10 minutes per game of ice time and has not recorded a point. He will head to the AHL to work on finding his scoring groove again.

Lightning's Panik Returns From Suspension

News: Richard Panik returned from a two-game suspension to play in Sunday's game against the Red Wings.
Analysis: Richard Panik totaled 9:09 on the ice in the game and had one shot on goal. He's clear to play following the suspension and will be back to his usual role with the Lightning.

Bolts' Panik Suspended Two Games

News: Richard Panik has been suspended for two games for boarding Karl Alzner of the Capitals during Tuesday's game, reports TSN.ca. He will miss games Thursday and Saturday.
Analysis: He had plenty of time to make a different decision, but instead hammered Alzner as he approached the boards. Alzner was lucky to escape serious injury. Richard Panik will lose $7,590 in pay.

Bolts' Panik: Suspension On Tap After Boarding Incident

News: Richard Panik received a boarding major for his hit from behind on the Capitals' Karl Alzner late in the second period of Tuesday's game.
Analysis: The Caps -- or should we say, Alexander Ovechkin -- scored twice on the ensuing power play to pull even after a horrible start to the game (they went down 3-0 in the first 11:07 of the game). The Caps tied the game on that power play and ultimately won the game. Richard Panik doesn't have a history of hits like this, but this will definitely result in a suspension.

Bolts' Panik: Two-Assist Night

News: Richard Panik set up two goals in Saturday's 5-4 loss to Pittsburgh. The points are his first of this season.
Analysis: He saw more than 20 minutes of ice time in the game, including more than four minutes on the power play. The guy has talent, but he hasn't been able to consistently crack the Bolts' top six. Performances like this one may earn him increased ice time and fantasy relevance.

Lightning's Panik To Work On Third Line

News: Richard Panik will begin the season on the third line for the Lightning, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: The third line will be filled out by his AHL Syracuse linemates Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat. After they found success in the preseason, the Bolts will leave this group together. Richard Panik had five goals and four assists with the Lightning in 25 games last season after scoring 22 goals in 51 contests with AHL Syracuse.

Panik To Compete For Job With Bolts

News: Richard Panik will have an opportunity to win one of two available forward spots with Lightning this fall, reports the Tampa Tribune.
Analysis: He'll have to duke it out with AHL MVP Tyler Johnson, Ondrej Palat, J.T. Brown and Brett Connolly for a job, so camp is going to be very, very interesting.

Bolts' Panik Sent To AHL

News: Richard Panik was re-assigned to AHL Syracuse on Friday.
Analysis: Richard Panik scored five goals and added four assists in 25 games with the Lightning this season. With the team eliminated from playoff contention, he will head to AHL Syracuse to battle for the Calder Cup instead.

Bolts' Panik: Career Night

News: Richard Panik had the game of his career Saturday. He scored two goals, added an assist and finished plus-4 in Tampa Bay's 6-5 overtime loss to Washington. He also had four shots and four hits.
Analysis: He has points in back-to-back games and five in his last five. He has solid second-line upside, but he may not find himself there for a few years given the Bolts' firepower up front.

Bolts' Panik Nets Second Of Career

News: Richard Panik scored his second goal of the season in Saturday's loss to the Islanders. He has four points (two goals, two assists) in 15 games this season.
Analysis: He was producing at a solid clip in the AHL (41 points in 51 games), so there's clearly more in his tank than what he has shown so far.

Panik Recalled By Lightning

News: The Lightning have recalled Richard Panik from AHL Syracuse. "We felt like we needed another offensive player at forward," said Julien BriseBois, Tampa Bay's assistant GM.
Analysis: Richard Panik, who has 22 goals and 19 assists in 51 games for Syracuse this season, has notched one goal in nine games in his time with the big club this season.

Lightning's Panik Assigned to AHL Syracuse

News: Richard Panik has been assigned to AHL Syracuse, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Richard Panik scored one goal in his nine games this season for the Lightning. This transaction means that Ryan Malone must be close to returning from his lower body injury that has kept him sidelined for nearly a month.

Bolts' Panik Scores First NHL Goal

News: Richard Panik scored his first career NHL goal in Saturday's win over the Hurricanes. It stood up as the game-winner.
Analysis: The young man has nice hands and showed them off by flipping the puck from one side of the net to the other, retrieving it and then popping it home. His fantasy value remains limited, though -- his ice time is low and he probably will return to the AHL when Ryan Malone comes back from injury.

Lightning Recall Panik

News: The Lightning have recalled Richard Panik from AHL Syracuse.
Analysis: Richard Panik, selected 52nd overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, will take the roster spot of Ryan Malone, who has landed on injured reserve with a lower body injury. Panik, who has recorded 35 points in 43 games with Syracuse, is fourth in the AHL at present with 21 goals.

Bolts' Prospect Panik On 10-Game Point Streak In AHL

News: Richard Panik is riding a 10-game point streak, the longest active streak in the AHL.
Analysis: He got off to a slow start to the season, but hs picked up 13 points on the streak. He scored 19 goals and 22 assists in 64 games last year as a first-year AHLer and clearly hopes to build on that this season.

Tampa Signs Panik

News: Tampa Bay signed Panik to a three-year, entry-level contract on Thursday, Lightning.NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Panik was Tampa's second-round pick in 2009. He has settled at the right wing position, where he totaled 56 points (27 goals) in his last 51 OHL appearances.
